Volume II: The Lizard
Note: This will be the fifth chapter of Volume II, Dr. Connors will be transformed into the Lizard as he crosses paths with Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider, at the same time Eddie Brock will be investigating him and could pose a threat to Connors entire life. Gwen will unveil the truth about herself to Mary Jane and ask her to keep her secret. This chapter will also introduce John Jameson, Martha, and Billy Connors as supporting characters.
It's September 17th, at ESU Labs, Dr. Connors is with his two interns Peter and Gwen as they're about to perform a test on a three legged mouse called Mickey as the Doctor has a syringe containing a serum that Connors wants to test out on a living being.
"Will one of you kindly grab Mickey out of his cage?" Dr. Connors asking his interns.
"I will." Peter volunteered to do the work.
Peter reached into the cage to grab the mouse in his hand and held it tight to keep it from escaping.
"Okay, keep it still as I'm about to inject a new serum into its bloodstream." Dr. Connors holding the syringe.
Peter still holds the mouse as Dr. Connors carefully injects a syringe into the mouse, he succeeded in injecting the serum into the mouse without accident.
"Done, you can put Mickey back in his cage." Dr. Connors puts away the syringe.
Peter puts the mouse back in his cage as he and Gwen are curious as to what Dr. Connors just did.
"I'm sorry if I'm being so nosy, but what was that you injected?" Gwen is curious.
"Something I've been working on for the past few months, it's an attempt to replicate the lizards ability for regeneration." Dr. Connors explained to Gwen.
"Regeneration?" Peter is curious.
"That's right, lizards have the remarkable ability to regenerate limbs on command. If we can somehow transfer that power onto another species, say a human, we can help so many lives that have lost limbs in accidents or wars. This can change human life as we know it." Dr. Connors explained about his experiment.
"That would be something extraordinary." Peter is amazed.
"Now all we can do is wait to see if the serum works perfectly and Mickey grows back another leg. If it's successful, then we'll see if we can attempt for human trials." Dr. Connors says to his interns.
The lab door opens to see a woman accompanied by her 8 year old son.
"Martha, Billy, what a surprise." Dr. Connors smiled at his family.
"We figured that you would be working late, so we decided to surprise you." Martha smiled at her husband.
"Look what I drew you, dad." Billy showing him a drawing.
"It's wonderful Billy, thank you." Dr. Connors smiled as he ruffles his son's hair.
Martha sees two teenagers in the lab.
"I'm guessing theses two aren't your college students." Martha says to her husband.
"No, these are my interns. Remember my old colleague Raymond? He recommended these two for their brilliances. Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, I'd like you to meet my wife Martha and our son Billy." Dr. Connors introduced his family to the interns.
"Nice to meet you both." Martha greeted Peter and Gwen.
"Thank you, likewise!" Gwen smiled back.
"Well, it's getting late. Why don't you kids go on home for the day. We'll continue this tomorrow, great job today." Dr. Connors says to Peter and Gwen.
"Okay, we'll see you tomorrow." Peter grabbed his backpack.
"Goodbye, Dr. Connors." Gwen left with Peter.
Peter and Gwen left the lab for the day as Dr. Connors is left with his family.
"You want to tell us what's been keeping you busy these past few days." Martha is curious.
"Do you remember my experiment on regrowing limbs? I think that I've finally cracked the code." Dr. Connors confessed to his wife.
"The regeneration serum, is it finished?" Martha is surprised.
"I've only tested it on Mickey, all we can do is wait and see if It works. But if it does, then it's means that this will change everything for everyone, including myself." Dr. Connors is confident in his work.
"I knew that one day you'll make it there. You're the most brilliant scientist I know of, the man I love." Martha placed her hand on her husband's cheek.
"You've always been my lucky charm, Martha." Dr. Connors smiled back at his wife.
Curt and Martha kissed each other as their son watched and is creeped out a bit.
"Yuck!" Billy acted creeped out.
Curt and Martha broke off and laughed.
"Okay Billy, it's time to go home. Are you coming, Curt?" Martha asking her husband.
"I'll stay up for the night to see if it's successful. Why don't you both head on home." Dr. Connors is staying behind.
"Okay, don't stay up too long." Martha kissed Curt on the cheek.
"Goodbye Martha, bye Billy." Dr. Connors smiled at them.
"Bye Daddy!" Billy waved to his father.
Both Martha and Billy are gone as Dr. Connors stayed behind to see if his experiment was a success.
He walked back to check on Mickey and is shocked to see something extraordinary happening before his eyes. Mickey is growing back another leg, the experiment worked.
"Amazing!" Dr. Connors smiled in excitement.
He then looked at his right limb where he used to have an arm before it got amputated. He wonders if it could work on a mouse, then its possible for a human.
In the city at the Coffee Bean, Peter and Gwen are having drinks after they've left the University.
"Do you think that its possible to regrow limbs? That Connors research could helped so many lives?" Gwen says to Peter.
"These days, anything is possible. A lot of people use to think that aliens, magic, and superheroes were all science fiction. But now it's all real, we all now live in a world where heroes exist, and it's a good thing." Peter says to Gwen.
"To think that last year Spider-Man once save my life and now few weeks ago this Ghost-Spider saved yours. We're lucky to have heroes in our lives." Gwen says to Peter.
"I for one am glad, neither one of us would be here together if they did come to our rescue. I'm glad to be in world with Spider-Man in it, cause we're together as a couple." Peter smiled at Gwen.
"And I'm lucky to have you, you're the love of my life." Gwen smiled back at Peter.
"Are you are mine." Peter smiled at Gwen.
Peter and Gwen leaned in and kiss each other. Despite their own lives as heroes, they each have one another to keep themselves going through tough times.
It's already nighttime as Dr. Connors is inside his office with a camcorder on a tripod pointing at his desk. Dr. Connors sits down and looks straight at the camcorder recording live.
"My name is Dr. Curtis Connors, time is 8:47 PM, my regeneration serum is finally ready to test on a human, and what better Guinea pig than myself." Dr. Connors looked at his right limb. "I know there are risks, but I can't allow a twist of fate to undo the natural order when science can correct it. If the unthinkable happens, please see to it that my wife and son get this letter."
Dr. Connors holds up the letter for his wife and son to read, he then placed it inside his desk drawer and grabbed the syringe containing the regeneration serum. He points it at his right limb and sticks it into his skin, he injects the serum into his bloodstream.
"Ow, that stings." Dr. Connors felt the pain.
The injection was a success but then he felt something happening to his body.
"Ah, something is happening... AAHH!!!" Dr. Connors screamed in pain as he passed out.
At the same time, in a very pricey restaurant in the city, J Jonah Jameson is sitting at the table with his son John who is in uniform, they're eating steak together.
"Thanks for the meal, dad." John finished his meal.
"It's not everyday you get to watch your son leave Earth more often. I thought that you deserve a great meal before you leave for your mission in a couple of weeks." Jameson says to his son.
"Hopefully this mission will be worth it, we may never know what else is out there in the heavens, New York already got a taste of it last July." John remembers the incident.
"Of course, it's all Spider-Man's fault that these giant creatures came to our planet in the first place, him and his band of so called heroes." Jameson talks about the Avengers.
"I know that you're against heroes acting independently without consent, but if they didn't do what needed to be done, then none of us would be enjoying our lives. Whether we like or not, we need protectors to keep us safe." John is supportive of heroes.
Jameson sighed. "I guess that you're right son, but I still don't trust Spider-Man."
"Let focus on the moment now. I've got to get up early in the morning for a presentation I'm about to do at my old school, Midtown Science High." John talking to his father.
"It's good that you're revising your old school, let the student hear the words of a genuine American hero." Jameson holds up a glass.
John holds up his glass too and cheers with his dad.
Back at the Lab, Dr. Connors was passed out with his head on the table. He slowly wakes up to see that he's still in his office, he raised his right side until he noticed something unusual as it bumped against his desk.
He raised it off from under to see that his right arm has fully regenerated, he then turns on the lamp to shine a light. The view is clearing as he sees that it's very real. He touched the lightbulb of the lamp and felt the pain from his new finger.
Dr. Connors smiled. "It's worked."
The phone rang as he picked it up to see that his wife of calling him.
Dr. Connors answered it. "Martha."
"Curt, where are you? Are you still at the lab?" Martha is worried.
"Yeah, sorry, I was just dosed off and took a short nap." Dr. Connors looking at his new arm.
"Well, if you're all done with your work, we'll be waiting for you back home." Martha says to her husband.
"Don't worry, I'm all done for the night. Trust me when I say that it was so worth it. I'll see you soon. Love you." Dr. Connors sends a kiss over the phone.
"Love you too." Martha hangs up.
Dr. Connors felt happier as his experiment worked, he finally succeeded in regrowing his arm back.
(Parking Lot)
Dr. Connors reached his car parked inside the lot, he pulled out his keys and was about to open his car door until he felt something strange happening, something painful that he dropped his car keys.
"Ah, what's happening now?!" Dr. Connors felt the pain inside his body.
He walked away from his car as he sees the exit. He continues to walk until he sees his right arm is turning scaly.
He made it out of the campus area and made it to an alley, he collapsed onto the ground. He sees that his other arm is becoming scaly like his right arm.
"Ah!" Dr. Connors can feel the change happening.
His body is enlarging and making tears in his clothes, his feet are changing too, he began to grow a tail.
"No... Noooo!!!!" Dr. Connors yelled out as he changed.
(Later)
Meanwhile Ghost-Spider is swing nearby the campus on patrol.
"It's all quiet now around ESU, no surprise there since the school is closed for the night. Looks like nothing is happening tonight, I should head back home now." Ghost-Spider continues to swing around.
Ghost-Spider then hears a yell nearby like somebody is screaming.
"What was that? I should check it out." Ghost-Spider swings to investigate.
Ghost-Spider landed near an alley where a restaurant employee is running out scared. He bumped into Ghost-Spider looking all terrified.
"Whoa! Easy there! What happened?" Ghost-Spider is curious.
"Mo-Monster!"
"Monster? What monster?" Ghost-Spider is confused.
"It's... big... with sharp teeth... there!"
The worker points towards the alley where a strange noise is coming from.
"Stay here, I'll go check it out." Ghost-Spider tells the worker.
Ghost-Spider walks into the alley where is all dark but there is definitely something here making noise.
"I have a bad feeling about this." Ghost-Spider says in her thoughts all nervous.
She's approaching the back of the restaurant where a van is opened and something is making it move, something is ripping off some boxes and making crunch sound.
"Hello! Is anyone there?!" Ghost-Spider calling out to something.
The noise stopped as Ghost-Spider sees something coming out of the van, the alley is all dark and she can't get a clear viewing of the creature but it's something big, it has claws and a tail.
"What the..." Ghost-Spider is shocked.
The unknown creature made out a roar and charged in hard at Ghost-Spider with high speed. She jumped over the creature but was caught off guard as it's tail made a hard swing and hits Ghost-Spider hard that she crashed against the alley wall.
"Oww! That hurts!" Ghost-Spider got back up.
Whatever is attacking Ghost-Spider isn't human but something else entirely. The creature attacked again as Ghost-Spider ran and jumped, she dropped kick the creature on the head hard. She landed in a three point stance as the creature got angry from the strike she inflicted upon it.
"Stay down!" Ghost-Spider demanded.
The creature didn't listen as it swings its tail hard but she jumped and webbed a line at his arm. The creature uses its strength to pull the line and yanked Ghost-Spider towards him. It strikes back at her with its claws and injured her right abdomen.
"Ahh!!" Ghost-Spider felt the pain.
The creature grabbed her by the neck and tossed her down hard on the ground, it then opens it mouth and attempts to bite her, but Ghost-Spider quickly grabbed its jaws and held it back.
The creature is using all its strength to bite Ghost-Spider until it stopped as it heard sirens coming closer. It pulled back off of Ghost-Spider and makes its escape. It rushed down the alley until it found a manhole, it removed it off the ground and dives down into the sewers.
Ghost-Spider got back up and is all injured from the claw strike to her right abdomen, whatever attacked her is long gone, she can hear the sirens as she shoots a line and swings away from the scene.
She made it to a rooftop nearby, she took off her mask and she's all bruised from the fight, but she flinched in pain as her right abdomen is bleeding.
"Can't let my dad see me like this, he'll be asking questions. I don't want Peter or Harry to know either, who else can I turn to?" Gwen is in pain.
Back in Queens at the Watson Residence, Mary Jane is walking out of the backyard with a trash bag and tossed it inside the bin.
"Mary Jane." Ghost-Spider is calling out.
Mary Jane is shocked as she turns around to find Ghost-Spider here in her own backyard, she carrying a backpack around her back and is holding her hand onto her injured abdomen.
"Ghost-Spider? What are you doing here and how do you know my name?" Mary Jane is surprised and confused.
Ghost-Spider pulls off her mask and showed her face to Mary Jane, Ghost-Spider is her best friend Gwen Stacy.
"Because you know my name." Gwen revealed her identity.
"Oh my god, Gwen?" Mary Jane is shocked.
"Please, I need your help. I'm hurt." Gwen is still in pain.
Mary Jane walked up to her and helps Gwen into her house.
"Easy Gwen, I got you." Mary Jane escort Gwen inside.
It's 6 AM in the morning at the Connors Residence, Martha is in the kitchen worried for her husband since he had come back home last night.
"Mommy, where is daddy?" Billy is walking downstairs all sleepy.
"I don't know, I'm getting worried. I've tried calling him ten times. I'll make you some breakfast, Billy." Martha starts to cook.
Billy looks out the backyard window to see his father laying there on the ground.
"Daddy's here, he's sleeping outside!" Billy tells his mother
"What?" Martha is shocked.
Martha went up to the window to see her husband laying on the ground in their backyard.
"Billy, stay here!" Martha tells her son.
Martha walked outside to see her husband is sleeping on the ground and his work clothes is a mess.
"Curt? Curt, wake up!" Martha shakes her husband getting him to wake.
Dr. Connors opened his eyes and sees his wife in front of him, he looked around to see that he's in his backyard.
"Martha? What am I doing outside?" Dr. Connors is confused.
"Billy saw you outside laying here in our yard. Your clothes are a wreck. What happened last night?" Martha is concerned for him.
"Last night..." Dr. Connors tries to remember.
"What?" Martha says to her husband.
"I don't remember. It's like my mind has been shut off recently." Dr. Connors placed a hand on his head.
"Come on, let's get you inside." Martha helps her husband on his feet.
Martha is escorting Curt into their house as Dr. Connors is confused and has so much questions about what had happened to him.
It's 7 AM at the Watson Residence, Gwen is sleeping in the bed in her best friend's room. Gwen felt a lick on her face.
"Heh! That tickles." Gwen smiled and wakes up.
Gwen sees that Ms. Lion is the one who's licking her face, the dog barked and smiled. Gwen gets up to see that she resting in her best friend's bed and wearing sleepwear.
"Morning." Mary Jane is all dressed up for school.
"Morning MJ, what time is it?" Gwen is curious.
"It's 7 AM, it's time to get ready for school." Mary Jane reminded Gwen.
Gwen pulled up her shirt to check on her abdomen that got scratched by claws. She sees that Mary Jane bandage her wounds and took care of her.
"You did this?" Gwen is surprised.
"You looked hurt and I did my best to stitch you up." Mary Jane explained.
"Thanks, what about my dad?" Gwen is curious.
"I called him and told him that you're sleeping over at my house for the night. I think that he bought it." Mary Jane got Gwen covered.
"Good, how am I going to explain why I stayed out all night? Not to mention I can't tell him about my injuries. Did you tell anyone about my secret?" Gwen wonders about her secret getting out.
"No, I haven't told anyone yet. But since you've asked, how did you end up being a superhero?" Mary Jane is curious about Gwen's double life.
"It's a long story and I'll tell you everything if you promise not to tell anyone." Gwen made Mary Jane keep a promise.
"Gwen, I..." Mary Jane got cut off.
"Promise me you won't tell anyone, not even Peter or Harry, Promise!" Gwen wants Mary Jane to keep her promise.
"Okay, I promise." Mary Jane kept her promise.
"Thank you, now if you don't mind. I need to clean up before going to school. May I?" Gwen asking Mary Jane.
"Sure, go right ahead." Mary Jane allowed it.
"Thank you." Gwen got up and walked into the bathroom.
Gwen locked the door and turned on the shower inside as she's planning to clean herself before heading for school. Mary Jane is outside in her room alone as she's surprised that another of her best friends is a superhero too.
Mary Jane sighed. "Why does this keep happening to me?"
Later in Midtown Science High School, the science class has a very special visitor, Colonel John Jameson of NASA is in front of the class. Peter is sitting with his best friend Harry while Gwen is with Mary Jane who is well aware of her best friend's double life as a superhero.
"Class, today we have a very special guest who has made time for us, he is one of New York's best and brightest to go up into outer space. It's gives me great honor to introduce to you NASA astronaut pilot Col. John Jameson." Raymond Warren introduced John Jameson to the class.
Everyone clapped their hands for the astronaut.
"Thank you, Professor Warren. It's been a long time since I've been back in this school since my last high school reunion, this place sure brings back memories. As some of you may have heard, I'm part of a space mission that about to take place two weeks from now. My crew will soon be launched into space and await a comet that is to pass by Earth's orbit in four weeks. Our team will study the comet and take samples from it. Any questions?" John Jameson talking to the class.
Flash raised his hand up and got John's attention.
"Yes?" John asking Flash.
"Your name is Jameson. Are you by any chance related to the editor-in-chief that prints lies about Spider-Man, J Jonah Jameson?" Flash is curious.
"Yes actually, he's my father. But I don't share his views on Spider-Man or any of the heroes he has criticized on paper. It's actually thanks to the heroes that we're still living in the world since the invasion that happened couple months ago." John Jameson says to Flash.
Harry raised his hand up.
"Go ahead, young man." John Jameson asking Harry.
"Do you think that there are other lifeforms out there in space?" Harry is curious.
"Well, as you've already know, we've already had our share of visitors from another world. It never crossed our minds there might be actual intelligent life out there until now. Maybe one day, we find others out there and hopefully they'll be more friendly." John Jameson tells Harry.
"Maybe they'll be hot like Captain Marvel." Flash makes a joke.
Everyone in class laughed at the joke, John smiled as teenagers alway fool around.
"Alright, enough class. Can we get back to the subject not related to aliens and superheroes? Please continue Col. Jameson." Raymond says to the class and John.
Meanwhile at the home of Dr. Curtis Connors, the doctor is resting on the bed from his confusing incident that occurred last night that somehow led him to the backyard of his home. Martha came in with a mug of tea.
"I made you some tea." Martha holding the mug.
Curt took it. "Thank you, Martha."
"Curt, what happened to you? Me and Billy waited all night for you to come home." Martha is worried.
"Where is Billy?" Curt asking his wife.
"He's at school, this gives us time to talk alone. What was the last thing you remember? Please, try to think." Martha asking her husband.
"Alright, I remember staying in my lab to see if the regeneration serum worked. It did, Mickey regrew his leg back. I wonder if it worked on mice, then it could work on a human. So I decided to test it on myself and that's when I blacked out for a time. When I woke up, my arm grew back, the serum worked." Dr. Connors explained about his experiment.
"But your arm is still gone, Curt. Look." Martha looking at his right side.
Curt sees that his right arm is gone again.
"Huh? Maybe the effects were temporary." Dr. Connors is surprised.
"Okay, please continue." Martha wants to hear more.
"Alright, after my arm grew back, I left the lab and headed into the parking lot to my car, that's when I lost my time there. After that, I don't remember anything." Dr. Connors finished his story.
"That still doesn't explain how you ended up in our backyard." Martha is still confused.
"I don't know Martha, I wish I had an explanation for all this." Dr. Connors is just as confused as she is.
Dr. Connors phone rang, he picked it up to see that his assistant Vincent Stegron is calling.
Dr. Connors answered the call. "Connors here."
"Dr. Connors, campus security found your car keys laying on the ground next to your car. I'm glad to hear from you, I was afraid that you might've been caught by this creature." Vincent Stegron says to Dr. Connors.
"The what?" Dr. Connors is confused.
"You don't know, there's been a report about a mysterious creature nearby the university, it was spotted in the alley behind a restaurant." Vincent Stegron explained.
Dr. Connors is shocked to hear that a monster was there that same night he blacked out.
"Dr. Connors, are you still there?" Vincent Stegron asking.
"Yeah, I'm here. Thanks for informing me, I'll stop by the lab later. Bye." Dr. Connors hangs up and looking stunned.
"Curt, what's wrong?" Martha is worried.
"My lab assistant called, he told me that there was a mysterious creature nearby the university on the same night I've blacked out." Dr. Connors looked stunned.
"Are you saying that..." Martha got cut off.
"That the creature might've been... me." Dr. Connors suspects he's the monster.
"My god. What do you plan to do?" Martha is terrified.
"I need to get back to the lab and find a way to undo my experiment, hopefully it's not too late." Dr. Connors got off the bed and gets dressed.
"Curt, I'm scared for you." Martha is worried.
"Have faith in me, I will find a way to stop this before it happens again." Dr. Connors assured his wife.
"I do, if anyone can find a cure, it's you." Martha believes in her husband.
"Wish me luck." Dr. Connors leaves the house.
"Good luck, Curt." Martha is left alone in the house.
School had already ended as Mary Jane and Gwen are at her friends house all alone in the bedroom with Ms. Lion. They needed the privacy for what Gwen is about to share with Mary Jane concerning her double life as Ghost-Spider.
"Is it safe for us to talk?" Gwen says to Mary Jane.
"Don't worry, my aunt is working late. So we have the house to ourselves." Mary Jane assured Gwen.
"You must have so many questions to ask me." Gwen says to Mary Jane.
"Can't believe that you're Ghost-Spider, the hero that save Peter weeks ago. How is this possible?" Mary Jane is curious.
"Remember the Stark Expo last month, when all the robots came and attacked everyone? One of the spiders from the expo escaped and found its way to me. I got bit and the next thing you know, I got powers beyond imagining." Gwen explained to Mary Jane.
"Wow." Mary Jane heard the same story from Peter.
"Yeah, wow. This came as a shock to me too, I never imagine that I would have the same powers as Spider-Man. I gained super strength, speed, and agility. I can cling to walls and have this sixth sense that alerts me of danger called a spider sense. Then I met a woman who calls herself Madame Web who told me that I have a destiny to become a hero like Spider-Man, she taught me how to fight and master my abilities." Gwen explained about her origins.
"She told you that your destiny to be a hero like Spider-Man." Mary Jane is very familiar with the story.
"She was right, I made a costume and designed some web-shooters. The first time I went out there, I wasn't afraid, I was fearless and more confident than I've ever been before. I wasn't the same girl who got held hostage twice, now I became strong and brave." Gwen has changed a lot.
Mary Jane sees her friend is more different than ever before.
"Why didn't you tell me before or Peter?" Mary Jane is still curious.
"Because I was afraid that you would see me differently because of my powers, I was worried how Peter will see me now that I'm a superhero, I didn't want to lose him." Gwen explained her reasons.
"Gwen, you'll never lose Peter, he loves you, you're his soulmate, the love of his life. You'll always be my friend, nothing will ever change that Gwen, nothing." Mary Jane still sees Gwen as herself.
Gwen smiled in relief. "Thank you."
"Are you sure that you don't want Peter to know, or even Harry?" Mary Jane says to Gwen.
"Positive, do you remember that one time when Peter was 12 and he accidentally burned off his eyebrows with his chemistry set and Harry tweet about on his social media page." Gwen reminded Mary Jane.
"Oh yeah, Harry is not very good at keeping secrets. Don't worry, your secret is safe with me, I won't tell anyone, not even Peter." Mary Jane kept Gwen's secret.
"Thank you, I knew I made the choice in confiding in you." Gwen says to Mary Jane.
"Speaking of which, where is Peter?" Mary Jane is curious.
"He said that he had to stop by the Bugle as Jameson has an assignment for him. I should get going, my work with Connors is today, I might bump into Peter there after he's done with the Bugle." Gwen grabbed her backpack.
"Okay, good luck." Mary Jane says to Gwen leaving her room.
Mary Jane is the only one who knows Ghost-Spider's secret identity, she's already good at keeping secret since she already knows Peter's secret as Spider-Man.
At ESU Lab, Dr. Connors injects a needle into his right side and draws out a sample of his own blood. He placed a drop onto a slide.
He placed it under the microscope as he takes a peek at his blood, he noticed some mutations occurring in his DNA.
"My god, it's still there." Dr. Connors is shocked.
He then hears a noise coming from the terrarium, he went to check to see that Mickey has been mutated by the serum and become lizard like in its appearance.
"Hopefully there's still time, don't worry Mickey, I'll make a cure. You'll be back to normal, I promise." Dr. Connors assured Mickey.
At the Daily Bugle, Peter got out of the elevator and walks through the floor until he spotted Betty holding a mug of coffee.
"Hey Betty, JJ asked for his coffee again?" Peter says to Betty.
"Black, no sugar, as always." Betty holding the mug.
Peter and Betty walked into the office to see that Eddie Brock is already inside with Jameson.
"Black coffee with no sugar." Betty placed the mug on the desk.
Betty left the office after delivering coffee as Peter so curious as to what this whole thing is about.
"Got the call, so what's all this about?" Peter is curious.
"Last night there was an attack in an alleyway near Empire State University, a witness said that a creature attacked his van and pillaged boxes of food in the back." Jameson explained about last night's incident.
"A creature? Sounds like a wild goose chase." Peter says to Jameson.
"It's not a wild goose chase, smart mouth. The witness also claims that Ghost-Spider was there at the same time fighting this thing." Jameson explained that Ghost-Spider was there.
"JJ, why don't I take the assignment, clearly Parker doesn't believe that this creature exists." Eddie Brock volunteers for the assignment.
"Sure, why not, this sounds like something crazy Eddie Brock would be chasing." Peter says to Eddie Brock.
"This coming from a kid who follows Spider-Man." Eddie Brock says to Peter.
"Enough! I don't care who gets the assignment, as long as one of you finds out what this thing is and get a picture, that person will get a bonus. Now go and get me photo!" Jameson demanded Peter and Eddie.
Peter and Eddie exited the office as they now are on a hunt for a mysterious creature.
(Later)
Peter is walking outside the building thinking about this creature that attacked so close to ESU.
"Can't believe that an attack happened so close to the university, I wasn't even there to protect anyone. At least I'm glad that Ghost-Spider was there to help. I should go and check out Dr. Connors to see how he's holding up." Peter says in his thoughts.
Peter whistled loudly. "Taxi!"
A taxi cab stopped by the sidewalk as Peter climbed inside.
"Empire State University." Peter tells the cabbie his destination.
The taxi left the Bugle as unknown to anyone, a motorcycle is tailing them.
"Knowing you Parker, you're always one step ahead. This time I will beat you to the punch." Eddie Brock is riding the motorcycle.
The sun is setting at the University as everyone had already left home except for Dr. Connors who stayed as he created an antidote for the regeneration serum.
"There, this should do it. Now to test it." Dr. Connors holds a needle containing the cure.
The lizard mouse is strapped down already as Dr. Connors is about to inject the needle into the mouse's bloodstream, the injection was a success.
"Let's pray this work." Dr. Connors want this to work.
(Outside)
Peter arrived at the campus to see that there are very few people around as they're leaving for the night. Peter is on the phone with Mary Jane.
"So you're investigating the incident that happened near the school?" Mary Jane is speaking over the phone.
"Yeah, apparently Ghost-Spider was there that same night, she saved someone but the creature is still out there. I'm going to check up on Dr. Connors to see if he's alright." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Have you run into Gwen?" Mary Jane is curious.
"Not yet, and I can't tell her that I'm here only to look into the mysterious creature." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Tiger, can't you just tell her the truth about who you are and what you do?" Mary Jane encouraged Peter to tell the truth.
"How am I supposed to bring her into this life of violence? I didn't even tell Harry since you remember last time I accidentally burned off my eyebrows with my chemistry set and he tweet about it." Peter remember that embarrassing moment.
"How can I forget? Harry can't keep a secret." Mary Jane is surprised to remember it again.
"Peter!" Gwen is running towards him waving.
"Gwen is here, I gotta go. Bye MJ." Peter hangs up.
Gwen caught up to Peter. "I figured that I might run into you, going to see Dr. Connors too?"
"Yeah, he called and said that we both have the day off, but I'm here because of something that happened nearby campus last night. A witness say that he got by some creature, I wanted to check up on Dr. Connors first then I'll go investigate." Peter explained the why he's here.
"Let's go then." Gwen walks with her boyfriend.
Unknown to both of them, Eddie Brock is on campus hiding and keeping his distance to see what Peter knew and hopes to beat him to the punch on the story.

Dr. Connors waited until he see the mouse is transforming back to normal, it's has gone from a lizard hybrid back into a three legged mouse. Dr. Connors smiled as the antidote worked and Mickey is back to normal.
"It's worked. Now to..." Dr. Connors flinched as he felt something happening.
Dr. Connors dropped the syringe onto the floor as he looked at his right side to see that he's regrowing his arm back.
"No... not now." Dr. Connors is transforming.
Dr. Connors's arms are turning scaly along with his face, he's transforming back into the Lizard again. The door knocked as someone is outside the lab.
"Dr. Connors, are you in there?!" Gwen is outside the door.
"Stay back! Don't come in!" Dr. Connors tells them to stay away.
Dr. Connors is on the floor struggling to maintain control of himself but he's become more feral when he's the Lizard. He finally grows a tail and was enlarged, he became the Lizard.
Peter and Gwen are outside the lab to hear something happening to Dr. Connors inside. Peter bursted down the door as Peter and Gwen looked inside to find a big reptile in the middle of the lab.
"What is that?" Gwen is shocked.
"It looks like... a Lizard." Peter is shocked too.
The Lizard then turned around to see two teenagers nearby, Peter and Gwen. It roared at them as they got scared.
"Run!" Peter grabbed her hand and ran down the hall.
Peter and Gwen ran out of the hallway as the Lizard chases after them. They kept running down as the Lizard is catching up to them.
"That thing is moving too fast, we can't escape it!" Gwen is still running.
The Lizard almost caught until Peter grabbed Gwen and jumped into an empty classroom, the Lizard passed by and still running out of the hallway. Peter and Gwen are laying on the floor as they safe for now.
"That was close." Peter hugging Gwen so close.
Eddie Brock is on campus with his camera in hand, he then sees something burst out of the building door. The Lizard made it outside as Eddie Brock is shocked by what he seen.
"What the hell is that?" Eddie Brock is stunned.
The Lizard attempts to run away from the campus as Eddie Brock uses his camera and takes pictures of the Lizard running.
At the same time, Peter and Gwen are still inside as they get themselves up after the Lizard is long gone.
"Are you okay?" Peter asking Gwen.
"Yeah, I think so. What do you think that was?" Gwen is curious.
"I don't know, but it looked like a giant lizard. Right now I'm worried about Dr. Connors, he was inside the lab when we came in, we heard his voice." Peter is thinking about Dr. Connors.
"Do you think that Lizard did something to him?" Gwen says to Peter.
"I hope not, but listen you should go home, Gwen. I'll go and find Spider-Man, let him know about this incident and hopefully he'll find Dr. Connors, assuming it's not too late." Peter says to Gwen.
"Okay, be careful." Gwen says to Peter.
"You too, Gwendy." Peter says to Gwen.
Peter kissed Gwen and left her behind as he runs out. Gwen can see that Peter is already gone from the place.
"Sorry Peter, but I can't go home and do nothing. Ghost-Spider is needed to saved Dr. Connors." Gwen says to herself.
Meanwhile Peter went to the top of the building as he pulled out his costume from his backpack.
At the same time, Gwen is still inside the building and found a restroom nearby to change, she pulled out her own costume from her own backpack.
Outside the lab, Eddie Brock is shocked by what just happened.
"Wow, JJ will surely pay good money for these photos. Looks like I've got the scoop before Parker." Eddie Brock smiled to himself.
Eddie then see Spider-Man on a rooftop and he's swinging away from the scene.
"Huh? Maybe I should follow the web-slinger and get a bigger exclusive." Eddie Brock then follows after Spider-Man.
Eddie is rushing out of the campus towards his motorcycle, Ghost-Spider came out of the building as she spotted Spider-Man in the air swinging away.
"Looks like Spidey is in the neighborhood looking for the Lizard. I should go and follow him." Ghost-Spider shot a web line and swings after Spider-Man.
Spider-Man is still swinging around outside the university grounds as he spotted some tracks and follows after them. The trail leads to an alley to a manhole where a cover is removed. Spider-Man lands down on the ground to see that the Lizard is underground.
"Looks like the Lizard is underground now, but the question is where will he pop up." Spider-Man says to himself.
Spider-Man then heard something from behind him, he quickly turns around.
"One more step and it's load of web fluid sticking you to the wall!" Spider-Man points his web-shooter.
"Wow, not a nice way to say hello, is it?" Ghost-Spider says to Spider-Man.
"Ghost-Spider? Oh, I'm so glad to see you." Spider-Man felt relieved.
"Good to see you too, Big Boy. I'm guessing you're here for the same reason I am." Ghost-Spider says to Spider-Man.
"I've been informed by Peter about a giant Lizard that appeared in the lab of ESU. I managed to track it to this manhole. This Lizard might've kidnapped Dr. Connors and his life might be in serious danger." Spider-Man explained to Ghost-Spider.
"I see, so the Lizard had a hostage and is now underground. What are we waiting for?" Ghost-Spider says to Spider-Man.
"We can't just go in blind, the sewers underneath Manhattan is like a maze of old and new tunnels, we be mice wandering down continuously lost, he could pop out in any manhole in a ten mile radius." Spider-Man explained about the sewers.
"That's gotta be like 4000 manholes, we can't cover that many. So what do we do?" Ghost-Spider is out of options.
"This Lizard took Dr. Connors for a reason, we need to find out why. Maybe his family might know something, we should go and tell them what's happened. It's all we can do for now until we have something solid." Spider-Man suggested to Ghost-Spider.
"Alright, you lead the way." Ghost-Spider says to Spider-Man.
Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider fired off a web line and swings around the city together, unknown to either of them, Eddie Brock is riding on his motorcycle following them.
At the Connors Residence, the manhole cover in the street was opened by big scaly hands. The Lizard climbed out of the manhole and approaches the house to peek through the window to see Martha and Billy together.
"Martha... Billy..." Lizard speaks slowly.
Martha tries to call her husband again with her phone as she hopes to hear back from her husband.
"Come on, Curt, pick up." Martha holding the phone to her ear.
"I'm sorry, the number you are calling is unavailable at the moment, please leave a message."
"Mommy, where is daddy?" Billy asking his mother.
"I don't know, Billy. I think that daddy is working late." Martha makes an excuse.
The door bursted open as Martha and Billy got startled by the Lizard that has entered their home.
"Mommy, what is that?!" Billy looked scared.
"I don't know! Billy, get behind me!" Martha tells her son.
The Lizard approached closer as Billy hides behind his mother.
"Martha... Billy..." Lizard speaks in a very familiar voice.
Martha is shocked. "My god... Curt?"
Outside the house, Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider arrived to see that the door to Connors house has been opened, they see the same tracks from before.
"Oh no, I think we're too late." Spider-Man is worried.
Martha screamed in the backyard as the two heroes heard it.
"Maybe not, come on!" Ghost-Spider tells Spider-Man.
In the backyard, Martha and Billy are cornered as the Lizard has them trapped.
"Don't be afraid, son." Lizard speaks to Billy.
"Curt, you're not yourself. You need help." Martha tries to reach her husband.
Spider-Man did a drop kick on the Lizard's head and landed in a three point stance. Ghost-Spider landed in front of Martha and Billy.
"Are you both alright?" Ghost-Spider asking them.
The Lizard recovered and spotted Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider, he then growled in anger.
"Get them to safety, I'll hold him off!" Spider-Man says to Ghost-Spider.
"Got it, come on you two!" Ghost-Spider escorting them back inside the house.
The Lizard see that his family is being taken by Ghost-Spider which enraged him some more as he swings his tail at Spider-Man but the Web-Slinger jumped and fired a web net over the Lizard.
Spider-Man landed. "There, that should do it."
The Lizard uses all his strength to break out of the net and surprised Spider-Man but charging in for a tackle and managed it hit Spider-Man hard.
Unknown to anyone, Eddie Brock is hidden nearby with his camera in his hand.
"Figured that Spider-Man will find the creature. This is getting better, I get shots of Spider-Man fighting this thing." Eddie Brock takes pictures.
Spider-Man is recovering from the impact the Lizard inflicted upon him as it has his claws ready to strike, Ghost-Spider jumped and slammed down on the Lizard's head, sending it down on the ground. Ghost-Spider is still on the Lizard as it got up and tries to shake her off.
"Spider-Man, get up! I could use some backup!" Ghost-Spider asking for assistance.
Spider-Man is getting back up to help Ghost-Spider still clings onto the Lizard's back as it charges backwards and slammed her against the wall, she felt the impact. Spider-Man sees that Ghost-Spider is in trouble.
"Hang on Ghost-Spider! I'm coming!" Spider-Man runs to help her.
The Lizard grabbed Ghost-Spider by the neck and sees that Spider-Man is coming towards him, he tossed Ghost-Spider hard at Spider-Man as the two heroes collided with each other. The Lizard has the advantage as the two heroes are hurt and he has the opportunity to strike.
"Daddy!" Billy yelled out to the Lizard.
The Lizard turns around and sees his son. "Billy."
Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider both heard the boy calling the Lizard 'daddy', they're surprised to see the Lizard has stopped his attack and retreated away from the scene. Spider-Man took the opportunity to toss the spider tracer onto the Lizard before it got away.
Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider got themselves up to see the Lizard has disappeared.
"Daddy? Did we hear right? Did he just say 'daddy?'" Spider-Man asking the question.
"Yes, that was Curt, my husband. He's the Lizard." Martha revealed the truth.
"How?" Ghost-Spider is shocked.
"His experiment, the regeneration serum, he tested it on himself to grow back his arm." Martha explained how he became the Lizard.
"Let me guess, his experiment worked a little too well." Spider-Man figured it out.
"Yes, it turned him into the Lizard. Curt came home one morning without any memory of how he got there. He only suspected that he was the same creature from yesterday. He became terrified as he desperately tries to find a cure to his condition, hoping to undo his experiment." Martha told Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider.
Eddie Brock remained hidden nearby as he's listening to the entire conversation and writes down what he learned, that Dr. Connors is the Lizard and how he became the monster he is now.
"Why didn't you tell anyone, the police?" Ghost-Spider questions Martha.
"No, they'll think he's a freak. They'll hunt him down, or worse." Martha is worried for her husband.
"I know how that goes, but not if we can reach him first." Spider-Man says to Martha.
"I'm so scared." Martha hugging her son.
"We'll keep this quiet, as long as we can." Spider-Man says to Martha.
They then heard a sound nearby, and running.
"Oh-oh! We're not alone." Ghost-Spider says to Spider-Man.
Eddie Brock is running away from the residence all smiling.
"When I break this story, I'll be Pulitzer time!" Eddie Brock smiled and is running.
A web line caught onto his back and pulled him up onto a light pole, Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider stopped him from escaping.
"Hang loose, Brock! That webbing will melt in a couple of hours." Spider-Man says to Eddie Brock.
"You can't do this." Eddie Brock is struggling to get freed.
"I already have. I won't let you ruin Connors' life." Spider-Man says to Eddie Brock.
Eddie is still trapped until Ghost-Spider fired off a webbing at his mouth to keep him from calling for help.
"That should shut him up." Ghost-Spider says to Spider-Man.
"Thanks." Spider-Man says to Ghost-Spider.
Spider-Man then sees a camera and notes on Eddie Brock, they took them off and they examined the shots taken, they see the Lizard from the university and the ones of themselves fighting the Lizard. Eddie has notes on the conversation on how Connors became the Lizard.
"He's got everything, he must've been following us." Ghost-Spider says to Spider-Man.
Eddie Brock is moving around not looking too happy that they've got his camera. Spider-Man removed the SD card from the camera and hold it with his fingers.
"I see that you've got a SD card full of shots." Spider-Man crushed it easily. "Oops!"
Spider-Man's and Ghost-Spider's spider sense both tingled simultaneously as trouble is nearby. They heard the sound of Martha screaming. They both rushed back to the house to see Billy all alone at his doorstep.
"Mommy, mommy!" Billy cried out.
"Billy, where's your mom?" Spider-Man asking Billy.
"Daddy came back and took her away, down there." Billy points to the sewers.
Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider looked at the sewer hatch and sees that it has been opened.
"The sewers. Listen, I'm going to carry you to a neighbor's house where it's safe, then we'll go get you mom and your dad too, okay." Spider-Man says to Billy.
"Okay, don't let anything happen to them." Billy is worried for his parents.
"So how do we find the Lizard now that he's underground?" Ghost-Spider says to Spider-Man.
"I was able to tag him with a spider tracer on his coat, I should be able to track him underground." Spider-Man says to Ghost-Spider.
"Even if we do find him, how do we turn him back to normal? The Lizard won't go down without a fight." Ghost-Spider says to Spider-Man.
"Martha mentioned that her husband was working on a cure, maybe he succeeded." Spider-Man says to Ghost-Spider.
"Then it could still be in his lab. Okay, I'll drop off the boy at the neighbors, then I'll head for the lab to find the cure." Ghost-Spider says to Spider-Man.
Spider-Man pulled out a spare spider tracer tracker and hands it to Ghost-Spider.
"Here, it's a tracker for the spider tracer. When you get the cure, you'll know how to find me." Spider-Man says to Ghost-Spider.
"Okay, be careful." Ghost-Spider says to Spider-Man.
"You too." Spider-Man then jumps into the sewers.
"Okay Billy, let's get you to safety." Ghost-Spider carries the boy to the neighbors.
Meanwhile Spider-Man is in the sewers tracking the Lizard who has Martha in his hands.
"Eh! What an incredible smell you've discovered, Spidey. I've heard about alligators in the sewers, but never lizards." Spider-Man says to himself.
Spider-Man pulled out his tracker as he's finding the spider tracer he placed onto the Lizard, it's getting a signal.
"Okay, looks like he headed in this direction. Let's hope that Ghost-Spider finds the cure in time or I'll be in serious trouble." Spider-Man says to himself.
Spider-Man heads down into the sewers tunnels to die the Lizard and Martha.
Back at ESU, Ghost-Spider is inside the laboratory to find a cure for the Lizard experiment.
"Okay, if I was trying to cure myself of the Lizard, how would I test it?" Ghost-Spider says to herself.
Gwen then sees a syringe nearby that looked like it had been used recently, she then sees Mickey still inside his cage looking all normal with three legs.
"If I remember correctly, you were shot by the same serum that turned Dr. Connors. If you're all normal, then that means that the antidote worked. If only I can find it, it's got to be here somewhere." Ghost-Spider looks around.
Ghost-Spider sees another syringe on the floor still intact full, she picked it up and got a closer look.
"This has got to be it." Ghost-Spider holds the cure.
Later Ghost-Spider made it outside the lab with the cure in her hand, she pulled out the tracker that Spider-Man gave her to find him and the Lizard.
"I see that Spidey is still searching for the Lizard, he's about to close in on him. I should get going and deliver the antidote to cure Dr. Connors." Ghost-Spider fired a web line.
Ghost-Spider swings away with the antidote in her hand as she heads towards the direction where Spider-Man and the Lizard are.
Spider-Man is still inside the sewer tunnel following the signal for the spider tracer on the Lizard.
Spider-Man sighed. "It's been over an hour and I'm still no closer to finding the Lizard. I hope that Ghost-Spider has found the cure."
Spider-Man then heard a woman's yell nearby, it's sounds like Martha Connors.
"Sounds like I'm getting closer than I thought." Spider-Man proceeds ahead.
The Lizard carried Martha on his back as they are way underneath the city where there is lights in the room. The Lizard set Martha down on the ground. Spider-Man remained hidden as he looked down to find that Martha is alive and unharmed.
"Why did you bring me here Curt? Why?" Martha asking the Lizard.
"So that we can be together." Lizard speaks.
"You're still my husband, I love you. I want to be with you, but not like this." Martha tells Curt.
"I love you too." Lizard still retain Connors' consciousness.
"Listen to me Curt, Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider knows the truth, they know who you are and what has happened to you. Let them get the antidote for your condition, they can help you." Martha tells Curt.
"I don't need help, this transformation isn't a disease, it's the next step in our evolution as a species. Imagine it Martha, we can heal any wounds and cure any sickness. I can more like me starting with you, then Billy, then everyone else. No more suffering, no more pain." Lizard explain his plan.
"But Curt, after you've transformed everyone, we'll all be like you." Martha is concerned.
"Of course, I'm the first of a new species." Lizard stated to Martha.
"Curt, are you listening to yourself. Look what you've become." Martha hold the Lizard's hand.
Lizard pulled back his hand. "No! You're twisting things. I can make people well again, and I won't stop for anything."
"Not even for Billy?" Martha brought up Billy.
The Lizard is stunned as he heard the name Billy.
"You want him to be like you too?" Martha says to the Lizard.
"My son, I have a son." The Lizard's mind conflicts with Dr. Connors'.
Spider-Man jumped and swings towards the Lizard and executes a drop kick.
"Sorry Doc, but I'm doing this for Billy as much as for you." Spider-Man dropped kicked the Lizard.
The Lizard got hit and recovered in time for swing his tail and strikes back at Spider-Man hard.
Ghost-Spider arrived in time to see that Spider-Man got hit by the Lizard hard.
"Looks like I'm here just in time." Ghost-Spider watched.
The Lizard charged in and Spider-Man jumped out of the way until Ghost-Spider shot a web net on the Lizard. Spider-Man looked up to see Ghost-Spider is here as she jumped down and landed next to him.
"Thanks for the assist, Ghost-Spider. Did you bring the antidote?" Spider-Man asking Ghost-Spider.
Ghost-Spider holds the syringe. "Got it."
The Lizard sees that Ghost-Spider has the same antidote that can undo his experiment, he got out of the web net and charged in and tackled Ghost-Spider hard as the antidote slip off her hand and is in the air.
"Oh no!" Spider-Man sees it still in the air.
Spider-Man jumped up and swings towards the syringe, he managed to catch it before it hits the wall.
"That was a close one." Spider-Man has the syringe I his hand.
"You shall not stop me!" Lizard is angry and feral.
The Lizard charged at Spider-Man and pushed him into the water as they two are struggling against each other underwater. Ghost-Spider and Martha can hardly see anything happening in the water.
"Come on, Spider-Man. You can do this." Ghost-Spider has hopes for Spider-Man.
Spider-Man still has the syringe in his hand but it having a hard time trying to use it on the Lizard as it's putting up a good fight and holding Spider-Man back.
"Strange, just a week ago he was just a respected scientist who wanted to help people, my teacher, my friend." Spider-Man says in his thoughts.
The Lizard attempts to bite at Spider-Man but he counters by headbutting his nose. The Lizard lost his grip on Spider-Man and the hero took the opportunity to strike back with the syringe at the heart of the Lizard.
"Don't worry, Doctor. I'm giving you a taste of your own medicine. Don't fight it." Spider-Man says in his thoughts.
The Lizard felt the effects of the antidote doing it's work on him. Spider-Man watched as the Lizard is starting to change back to normal before his eyes.
Ghost-Spider and Martha are still on the surface waiting to see what is happening. It's been over a few minutes as neither of them have come out of the water.
"Curt." Martha is worried.
"They've been underwater for too long, I'm going in!" Ghost-Spider is about to dive.
Ghost-Spider stopped herself as Spider-Man came up along with Dr. Connors who is now all normal.
"Spider-Man! Dr. Connors!" Ghost-Spider is surprised.
"Curt!" Martha sees her husband all normal.
Spider-Man helps him onto the the surface as Martha tend to her husband.
"You okay, Spidey?" Ghost-Spider asking Spider-Man.
"Yeah, but I'm going to need at least ten showers once I get back home." Spider-Man says to Ghost-Spider.
"Is he..." Martha asking Spider-Man.
"He'll be okay." Spider-Man is all wet.
"Oh Curt!" Martha hugged her husband.
Dr. Connors opened his eyes to see his wife again.
"Martha? What happened?" Curt is confused.
"You're back to normal, thanks to these heroes." Martha is relieved.
"Spider-Man, Ghost-Spider, thank you both and I'm so sorry, for everything. I wanted to grow my arm back so badly that never considered the side effects or the consequences of my actions. From the bottom of my heart, please accept my apologies." Dr. Connors says to Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider.
"It's okay, Doc. We know that you weren't yourself. The important thing is that you're back to normal." Ghost-Spider says to Dr. Connors.
"I might as well be locked up for everything I did as the Lizard, my life, my career." Dr. Connors is disappointed in himself.
"Is salvageable, no one knows that you're the Lizard." Spider-Man says to Dr. Connors.
"Speaking of which, we still have one more person to worry about." Ghost-Spider remembers Eddie Brock.
"Don't worry, he doesn't have hard evidence, but that's not going to stop him. Here's what's you're going to do." Spider-Man tells Dr. Connors what needs to be done.
The next morning, Eddie Brock is accompanied by Jameson and the NYPD as they're outside the Residence of Dr. Connors.
"I'm telling you JJ, Curt Connors is the Lizard. I had the pictures but Spider-Man destroyed them." Eddie Brock tries to convince Jameson as he rang the doorbell.
"This better not be a waste of my time, Brock. Dr. Connors is a respected scientist." Jameson is still unconvinced.
"Boss, if I'm wrong, I'll eat today's issue of the Bugle." Eddie took the newspaper in his hand.
The door opened as Dr. Connors is with his wife and his son in his arm.
"J Jonah Jameson, what brings you here this morning?" Dr. Connors is being friendly.
Eddie Brock is shocked and gulped to see Dr. Connors all back to normal.
"Do you want it cooked or raw?" Jameson isn't too happy.
Later at the Daily Bugle, Jameson just returned with Eddie Brock after their short visit to Dr. Connors. Peter is with Betty chatting until they see Jameson coming in.
"You made me waste my precious work time to go see Dr. Connors for nothing!" Jameson isn't too happy.
"JJ, I know what I saw! Dr. Connors is the Lizard!" Eddie then see Peter here. "Come on, Parker, tell him about the Lizard!"
"Honestly Eddie, I don't know what you're talking about. I've never heard of this Lizard." Peter pretends to be clueless.
"You son of a..." Eddie Brock is angry.
"Enough! One more babble out of you Brock, and I'll send you to the mailing room where you'll be licking envelopes all day, is that clear?!" Jameson tells Eddie Brock.
Eddie Brock stayed silent. "Yeah JJ."
Jameson went into his office as Eddie Brock is pissed at Peter and Spider-Man for making him look like a fool to everyone, he walked out of the floor all humiliated and disgraced.
"What was that all about?" Betty asking Peter.
"No idea. I should get going. See ya tomorrow at school." Peter says to Betty.
"Sure. Bye Pete." Betty said her goodbye.
Peter walked towards the elevator as the door opens and John came out.
"Hey John, remember me from class?" Peter says to John.
"Yeah, I remember you and Betty. I just came by to see my dad before I leave." John says to Peter.
"You're leaving already?" Peter is surprised.
"I need to be in Florida preparing for my mission." John says to Peter.
"Well, good luck on your mission, John." Peter extended his hand to shake.
John shook it. "Thank you Peter, I hope this mission is well worth it."
Peter stopped shaking hands as John went up to his dad's office to see his old man, Peter took the elevator as he leaves the floor.
At the Stacy Residence, Gwen is doing laundry as the washer rang, she pulled out all her clothes to see that some of them got mixed with light blue and pink colors, her Ghost-Spider suit is all wet and cleaned.
"You got to be kidding me?" Gwen isn't amused.
"Everything alright?" Mary Jane asking Gwen.
"I was cleaning up my suit but I may have messed up my laundry." Gwen holding the clothes.
Mary Jane sees the clothes that Gwen was washing, it reminded her of the time Peter had the same trouble with his own laundry concerning his Spider-Man suit.
"Don't feel bad, at least you know now that you shouldn't be mixing your suit with your laundry." Mary Jane says to Peter.
The doorbell rang as Gwen and Mary Jane are wondering who is outside the door.
"Here, take this to my room and hide it." Gwen gave Mary Jane her costume.
Mary Jane walked upstairs to Gwen's bedroom with the Ghost-Spider suit as Gwen approaches the door, she opened it to see that her boyfriend Peter Parker is outside.
"Hey Gwen, May I come in?" Peter asking Gwen to be invited.
"Sure." Gwen invited Peter inside.
"I wanted to check up on you, especially after what happened yesterday." Peter says to Gwen.
"You mean the giant Lizard." Gwen says to Peter.
"Yeah, what happened yesterday was scary, I was wondering how you're holding up?" Peter says to Gwen.
"I doing fine, thank you for asking." Gwen isn't bothered.
"Really, because this must've come as a shock to you as it is to me." Peter says to Gwen.
"Given everything that has happened in the past year, nothing surprises me anymore." Gwen says to Peter.
"Good point. Listen, about Dr. Connors, there might be a chance that..." Peter says to Gwen.
"That he could be the Lizard. Don't worry Pete, I haven't said anything to anyone, not even my dad. I don't want to ruin Dr. Connors' life by revealing the truth, so that secret is safe with me." Gwen kept Connors' secret safe.
"And I haven't told Jameson, that secret is safe with me too." Peter says to Gwen.
"I'm surprised that you haven't taken pictures of the Lizard, that's very kind of you." Gwen smiled at Peter.
"And I'm happy that you compassion for other people. That's what I love about you, Gwen." Peter smiled at Gwen.
"I love you, Peter." Gwen says to Peter.
"And I love you too, Gwen." Peter says to Gwen.
Peter and Gwen kiss each other as Mary Jane is coming back to see her two friends kissing each other, she smiled as she happy for them. She knows that Peter and Gwen are made for each other as they're both heroes that neither of them yet know except for Mary Jane who kept both their secrets. She hopes that one day they'll tell the truth to one another and they'll finally become a true couple without secrets from each other.
