Volume II: Overdrive
Note: This will be the sixteenth chapter of Volume II, this will introduce James Beverley as the new villain calling himself Overdrive, he will prove to be a bigger challenge for the two heroes as he will be using vehicular warfare against them and they will be outmatched against his new power. Tony Stark will make an appearance in this chapter as he provides a solutions to combat this new villain, Pepper Potts will also play a role. Peter will be learning the lessons and rules of driving as he attempts to obtain a drivers license due to some trouble he got himself in.
It's nighttime on February 4th, at Power Broker Inc., a young scientist named James Beverley is developing nanites, microscopic robots specifically designed to alter and modify any machine it touches, he loaded them into his specially designed gloves for distribution.
"Time to test out these little buggers." James Beverley tells himself.
He dressed himself up in a black prototype bodysuit and a helmet, he strapped the gloves on with the nanites already loaded up.
(Outside)
He walked out of Power Broker Inc. and made it to the parking lot where a lot of cars are parked. He walked around to look at all the fine vehicles here.
"Now which one shall I pick?" James Beverley is still picking out.
He walked around picking out cars to test out his new technology until he found a convertible sports car parked.
"Perfect! And you look very expensive too!" James Beverley likes his choice.
James walked up to the hood of the car and touched it with his new gloves as the nanites are being distributed throughout the car, the cars colors are being changed to black and adding some modifications to it, making it more improved than ever before. James is impressed that his new technology has changed the vehicle completely to his own liking.
"And now you're better than ever." James Beverley is impressed by his technology.
James opened the door and enters the newly improved vehicle and is amazed how his technology improved the structure of the car. He turns on the ignition and the engines is running and roaring.
"Oh my god!" James Beverley likes the sound of the engines.
A man came out running out of the office to see that his car has been changed and someone is behind the wheel.
"Hey!!! That's my car!!!"
"Was your car, now it's mine." James Beverley tells the owner.
James puts the gear into reverse as he back out of the spot and switched it back to drive, he steps on the gas and speeds away from the parking lot in excitement as the owner is upset that someone just stolen his car.
"Somebody help!!! Someone has stolen my car!!!"
Meanwhile James is still driving down the freeway at high speed avoiding any collusion with any cars in the way.
"Ha! Ha! Ha! Oh, this is so exciting!!!" James Beverley is going too will.
He then hears police sirens and looked at the mirror to see a couple of police cruisers chasing after him.
"You in the sport car, pull over!!!"
"Oh, oh, it's the Po Po! Well this is should be fun. You want me, you gotta catch me!!!" James Beverley is being so daring.
The car is speeding up as the cruisers are still chasing after it, James pulls off some evasive maneuvers while speeding, the newly improved engines thanks to the nanites are boosting the speed of the car beyond its normal limit. He turns the car towards the pass where there's construction ahead, the cruisers radar gun is going up.
"Unbelievable, he's going pass 90!!!"
James looked behind to see the cops are having a hard time catching up to him in his top speed. He looks up ahead to see a dead end with no road due to the freeway being under construction.
"Okay boys, let's see if you got the balls!" James is about to something even more daring.
He speeds up towards the end as the cops looks at the road ahead, there's a dead end.
"What is he doing? There no road up ahead! Is he being suicidal?!"
"Ride or Die." James Beverley smiles as he's being too daring with himself.
James still drives ahead towards the end as he hits the Nitrous and the car got a big boost in speed, he drives it off the road as the squad cars stopped in their tracks to watch it still flying in the air. The car itself began to take shape as wings are being formed around it and it came equipped with thrusters for flight, the cops on the ground are shocked that the car can fly up in the sky. James laughed up as he ditched the cops and his technology allows the car to fly up.
"Oh, I am so badass!!!" James Beverley is excited.
The car still flies in the air as it's heading towards New York City as the police on the ground are powerless to stop him from escaping.
The next day at Stark Tower, Tony Stark is in town supervising the renovation of the floor for the Avengers, the place still need a lot of work as many of contractors are doing their jobs in making rooms on the top floor.
"Be sure to make the rooms more individualistic, alright?!" Tony is supervising.
Pepper Potts came by to see that Tony is supervising the renovation and everyone is too busy moving around.
"You're really putting much effort into this tower, aren't you?" Pepper asking Tony.
"I have to, the Avengers needs a new base of operations after that incident last year, we never know when or where the next danger will occur, and this world needs Earth's Mightiest Heroes to be ready to face anything." Tony explained to Pepper.
"With everything the world is facing, you've been pretty busy these days to make time for normal life." Pepper says to Tony.
"Well I have been working on my projects and sleeping with hot women in my spare time." Tony smiled at Pepper.
"Okay, I wouldn't count that last part as normal." Pepper tells Tony.
Tony smiled as he liked to joke around about this particular subject. He then turns his attentions towards the workers doing their jobs without any problems.
"Looks like they've got this. I should get going." Tony is walking away towards the elevator.
"Where are you going, Tony?" Pepper asking Tony.
"To see an old friend." Tony tells before the elevator door closes.
At the Spider-Cave, Peter and Gwen are sparring as Mary Jane watched the match. Peter throws in some jabs and crosses as Gwen is able to bob and weave each one of them without difficulty.
"Not bad." Peter smiled at Gwen.
"You're holding back on me." Gwen could tell he's pulling back.
"Yeah." Peter admits to Gwen.
"Don't." Gwen tells Peter.
Peter smiled as he executed a roundhouse kick as Gwen ducks down to dodge, she does the sweep kick and managed to knock Peter off his feet, he fell down on his back.
"Oww!" Peter laying his back on the ground.
"I guess I win this round." Gwen smiled as she offer her hand.
Peter took it and she pulled him up on his feet, Mary Jane clapped at her friends victory.
"Way to go, Tigress." Mary Jane is impressed with Gwen.
"You've certainly came so far in these past months, you can even match me in combat." Peter is very impressed with Gwen.
"Thank you for the compliment, Pete." Gwen flirted with Peter.
"You're quite welcome, Gwendy." Peter flirted back to Gwen.
Peter and Gwen leaned in close and kissed as Mary Jane had to watch and turned her head away, she coughed to snapped them back to reality, they broke off the kiss as they've noticed Mary Jane is still here.
"Seriously? In front of me?" Mary Jane tells Peter and Gwen.
"Sorry MJ... force of habit." Peter tells Mary Jane.
"Yeah, me too." Gwen apologize to Mary Jane.
"It's okay, I'm happy for you both. But could you both at least be alone when you do that next time." Mary Jane tells Peter and Gwen.
"Sure thing, so what's next?" Peter asking the girls.
"Feeling hungry? I've worked up an appetite after that sparring." Gwen tells Peter.
"Yeah, I could use a bite to eat." Peter is feeling hungry.
"Yeah, me too." Mary Jane is also hungry.
They then hear a car honking its horn coming from the outside, they're curious as to who it could be, Peter grabbed a hoodie and walked through the tunnel to check up on who it could be.
Peter took a peek to see Tony Stark getting out of his Ferrari holding a box of pizza, Peter smiled as he opens the door and greeted his old friend.
"Tony Stark, it's been a while!" Peter greeted Tony.
"I'd figured that you'd be here, I got you something from my trip in Chicago." Tony handed him a box of pizza.
Peter took a box and opened it to find the famous deep dish pizza from Chicago.
"Went that bad, huh?" Peter says to Tony.
"Just because I brought pizza from Chicago, doesn't mean it went bad." Tony tells Peter.
"Huh huh, sure doesn't... oh boy." Peter looking at the pizza.
Peter walked back inside the Spider-Cave with Tony Stark, where Gwen and Mary Jane are still waiting as they see Peter coming in with a box of pizza and with Tony Stark here in person.
"Whoa, Tony Stark." Gwen is surprised.
"Yep, that's me, the Futurist." Tony says with humor.
"How'd you find this place?" Mary Jane is curious.
"I've been here before, who do you think helped improve this place?" Tony tells Mary Jane.
"I see. What you got there, Tiger?" Mary Jane asking Peter holding the pizza box.
"Pizza, all the way from Chicago, courtesy of Tony Stark himself." Peter holding up the box.
"Perfect timing, I'm starving." Gwen is glad there's pizza.
Peter puts the box on the table as he, Gwen, and Mary Jane each took a piece from the box, they each took a bite of the deep dish pizza and they all like the taste.
"Mmm!!! This is so great!" Peter chewing his pizza.
"Figured you'd like it." Tony says to Peter.
"So what brings you by? Clearly not to deliver pizza." Peter asking Tony.
"Just flew in from Chicago this morning, I'm here in town to supervise the renovation of Stark Tower in person. I thought I'd stop by and check up on you." Tony explained to Peter.
"It's been a while since the expo, I hardly see you around anymore." Peter says to Tony.
"I've been pretty busy being Iron Man, a lot of new villains are on the rise all across the globe and we heroes are stretched pretty thin these days." Tony explained to Peter.
"Yeah, it's the same here in New York." Peter says to Tony.
Tony looked at the glass cases containing the suits, including the Ghost-Spider suit, he then turns his attention towards Gwen Stacy.
"From what I've heard, you had some help." Tony figured it out.
"That help is me." Gwen confessed to being Ghost-Spider.
"You didn't tell me that your girl is a superhero." Tony says to Peter.
"She wasn't, not at first, it's a very long story." Peter says to Tony.
"I got some time to spare, so humor me." Tony wants to hear the story.
Peter is having a conversation with Tony Stark about Ghost-Spider and what she's done for this city.
(Later)
Peter is walking out of the Spider-Cave with Tony after the long conversation they had and they still talk.
"So let me get this straight, you and Gwen broke up sometime after you found out that she's Ghost-Spider, then later you've kissed MJ, and a month later you were reunited with Black Cat. Wow, since when did you become such a player?" Tony is impressed with Peter's luck with girls.
Peter smiled at that subject. "Probably the same time I've ditched the glasses and grew a backbone, just typical Parker Luck."
"Well, chicks do dig dorks like us, you actually remind me of myself when I was your age." Tony says to Peter.
Peter then took a look at the fancy car Tony came by in, he walked up to take a closer look at the Ferrari, all red and expensive.
"Like what you see? It's brand new." Tony says to Peter.
"It's nice." Peter kept eyeing the car.
"Like to take her out for a spin?" Tony asking Peter.
Peter's eyes widen. "Really?"
"Sure." Tony says to Peter.
Peter walked up and took the driver seat while Tony is riding shotgun.
"Know how to drive?" Tony asking Peter.
"A little, I had some practice, but it's been awhile." Peter says to Tony.
"Okay, this isn't like the standard car you've driven, she's got a bit a kick when it comes to speed. So first, back out very slowly." Tony tells Peter.
Peter shifts the gear into reverse as he slowly back away from the Spider-Cave, he still got the hang of the driving part down. The car back onto a road as Peter shifts the gear into drive.
"Okay then, step on the gas." Tony tells Peter.
Peter puts his foot down on the petal and the car drives down the road as he's smiling as he likes the rush of driving.
"Whoa! This is awesome!" Peter smiled as he drives.
"Not bad, but speed up some more!" Tony tells Peter.
Peter gave the car a bit more speed as they're driving around the neighborhood of Roosevelt Island. Tony noticed the traffic lights up ahead turning to red.
"Kid, slow down a bit!" Tony tells Peter.
The car ran past a red light but luckily there where no cars or people in the vicinity. The car kept running as it passed a police cruiser that was parked and got spotted. The cop turned on the sirens and drives the car after the Ferrari. Tony turns his head to see a cop chasing after them.
"Oh boy, now you've done it." Tony says to Peter.
Peter noticed a police car chasing after them, he then slows the car down and makes a stop on the side of the street, the cruiser parked behind them as the cop came out and walked up to the driver side of the car.
"License and Registration please."
"Ah, officer, there's been a misunderstanding, this kid was practicing his driving." Tony tries to reason with the officer.
"So in other words, he doesn't have one. Go figure."
The officer pulled out a pad and started writing a ticket for Peter.
"Let's see what do we have here, kid, speeding, reckless driving, and driving without a driver's license."
"Hey, at least he didn't catch you running a red light." Tony whispered to Peter.
"And also running a red light, thanks for that."
"Dang." Tony whispered in disappointment.
The officer finished writing a ticket and gave it to Peter.
"Next time, get a driver's license, kid."
The officer walks away after giving Peter a ticket, Peter is disappointed that he got himself in trouble with the law.
Peter sighed. "Typical Parker Luck."
Somewhere in Queens in a warehouse, James Beverley has set up his new base of operations as he got all his technology already set up.
"Now that I'm done working for those rich funded think tanks, it's time that I go out and make a real name for myself, I need to makes some real money." James Beverley tells himself.
James types into his laptop and hacked every bank system and accesses the armored car routing schedules, he found one happening tonight.
"Why rob banks when all the money is being moved through the streets, sure there are heroes like Spider-Man who would stop someone like me, but I bet he's never been up against someone with wheels." James Beverley says to himself.
He gets up and puts the helmet back on and strapped his gloves on.
"Let's see how good he is against... Overdrive." James Beverley is now Overdrive.
At the Parker Residence in Queens, the Parkers, Stacys, Mary Jane and Tony Stark are all gathered to talk about Peter's recent troubles with the law.
"Wow, this is actually the first time you've gotten yourself into trouble with the law. You, Peter Benjamin Parker." May is shocked and disappointed.
"I'm sorry, Aunt May, I'm not use to driving around." Peter apologizes to May.
"Don't blame yourself, kid, I was the one who encouraged you to drive fast." Tony takes some of the blame.
"I appreciate it, Tony, but this is on me, this is my mess." Peter takes full responsibility for his actions.
"Don't worry, Parker, I was able to talk with the precinct Captain of that officer who gave you the ticket, I was able to get this squared away." George Stacy helped resolve the problem.
"Wow, thank you." Peter is grateful.
"However, there is a catch, as part of your arraignment, you must take the DMV test and apply yourself for a driver's license to avoid any further incidents like this ever again." George Stacy explained the price for his help.
"Oh!" Peter is surprised.
"You know this might not be such a bad idea, it's about time that you get your own driver's license. I know that you're use to swinging around building to building, but Peter Parker could use a set of wheels for himself when he's not busy being Spider-Man. So please study hard and take test, Peter." May tells Peter.
"Okay, Aunt May, I'll take the test, though I'll need some help studying." Peter suggested to the group.
"I can help you out with that, Tiger. I've already gotten my license." Mary Jane offers to help Peter.
"You got a license?" Peter is surprised.
"Yeah, I got it last year, I just don't drive Aunt Anna's car a lot." Mary Jane says to Peter.
"Thanks MJ, I accept your help." Peter is grateful to take Mary Jane's help.
Tony got an alert on the phone, he checks it and sees that there's trouble across the sea that requires Iron Man.
"Sorry to bail out, but Iron Man is needed elsewhere. Sorry to drag you into trouble, kid." Tony tells Peter.
"Don't worry, thanks for letting me ride that fancy car of yours." Peter says to Tony.
"I wish I could stick around and show you the new toys I've made for you both, but that's gonna have to wait another time, duty calls." Tony says to Peter.
"I understand, good luck Iron Man." Peter says to Tony.
"You too, Spidey." Tony walked out of the door.
Tony is already gone as Peter needs to study for the driving test.
"Okay then, shall we get started?" Mary Jane says to Peter.
"Now?" Peter is surprised.
"Yeah, now." May tells Peter.
Peter sighed. "Okay, let's do it."
It's nighttime as on the Queensboro Bridge, an armored car is being escorted by two sedans for security purposes. In the back of the truck are newly minted bills being delivered to the bank with two guards in the back.
"We're in route to the bank with the newly minted bills, ETA 20 minutes."
The armored car is still driving through without any trouble until the modified sports car came speeding towards them, the armored car driver look at the side mirror to see something unusual speeding their way.
"Heads up, we got company!"
The two escort cars pulled back behind the armored car to protect it. Overdrive is behind the wheel of his new sports car.
"Oh no, I got two cars blocking my way. What am I to do? Oh, I know." Overdrive is being playful.
His cars hood opens up and two rockets came out, it fired two of them and they both blew up the cars off the ground, leaving them both wrecked and the drivers still alive but hurting. The car still chases after the armored car that is speeding up hoping to escape.
"Oh no, you don't!" Overdrive still driving.
The car switches to the grappler as it's aims at the tires of the armored, Overdrive has got a lock on the rear tire, it's fired off a nylon net and managed to wrap itself around the tire as Overdrive hits the brakes and stops the car with the grappler still attached, the armored car is slowing down. One of the guards called in the authorities to let them know of the situation.
"We are under attack, send back up to the Queensboro Bridge immediately!"
The armored car made a full stop as the guards from the back and front all got out with their guns.
"Time to go to sleep." Overdrive presses the button.
The car unleashed a couple of canisters of knock out gas as the guards all breathed it in, they all got sleepy and went unconscious. Overdrive got out of the car and walked past the unconscious guards to look at the money all exposed and vulnerable for him to take.
"Payday." Overdrive is happy.
At the Parker Residence, Peter is inside his room with Mary Jane who is helping him study for the test, she holds up a tablet showing the signs, the one right now is of the bike route.
"Bike Route." Peter tells Mary Jane.
"Good, and this one." Mary Jane switched the image to Railroad Crossing.
"Ah... Railroad Crossing." Peter tells Mary Jane.
"Good, this one is very easy." Mary Jane switched image of a Stop sign.
"Stop." Peter tells Mary Jane.
"Good." Mary Jane switched image.
Peter looks at the image of School Crossing as he's having trouble remembering what it means.
"Come on, Tiger, you've seen this more than once." Mary Jane telling Peter.
"Oh... School Crossing." Peter figured it out.
"Very good, Tiger." Mary Jane says to Peter.
"Thanks for all the help, MJ. I appreciate you stepping in to help me study." Peter is grateful to Mary Jane.
"Hey, what are friends for. I never image that you'd get a ticket for reckless driving, you, Peter Parker, of all people." Mary Jane smiled at Peter.
"Okay, I get it, I screwed up." Peter rolled up his eyes and smiled.
Ghost-Spider climbed into the bedroom window and caught Peter and Mary Jane by surprise.
"Gwen, what's going on?" Peter asking Ghost-Spider.
"Sorry to interrupt, but my dad called, there's trouble at the Queensboro Bridge." Ghost-Spider informs Peter.
"Right, let's get going." Peter says to Ghost-Spider.
"Suit up." Ghost-Spider tells Peter.
Peter walks up to the closet and gets his Spider-Man suit, he was about to change until he noticed two girls still in his room.
"Do you both mind?" Peter asking them.
"No... oh!!! Sorry!!!" Mary Jane felt embarrassed.
Ghost-Spider turned around and jumped outside the window as Mary Jane is blushing, she walked out of the room to give Peter some privacy to change. Now that both girls are gone, he took the opportunity to change.
Back at the Queensboro Bridge, Overdrive is packing up the last of the money and stuffing it into duffel bag, he then takes it away towards his vehicle.
"This is too easy, and here I was hoping for a challenge." Overdrive gets into his car.
He looks at his mirror to see a couple of heroes swinging by webs.
"Looks like things are about to get very interesting." Overdrive is pleased there's a challenge.
Overdrive steps on the gas as he drives away from the armored truck, Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider spotted the vehicle making its escape.
"That's gotta be the robber in the car!" Ghost-Spider pointed out to Spider-Man.
"Let's chase after it!" Spider-Man is swinging.
The spider heroes are swinging after the vehicle where Overdrive is driving, he looked to see that they're getting closer.
"So you want to play? Let's play." Overdrive wants to have fun.
He activated a function of the car as a couple of rocket pods are opened, he has the targeting system aiming at those two. Their spider senses tingled as they looked to see rockets on the car.
"Oh oh!" Ghost-Spider is worried.
"Take evasive action!" Spider-Man tells Ghost-Spider.
The car launches small rockets at the two heroes as they do evasive maneuvers and dodged each of the rockets fired at them, they've succeeded in avoiding everyone of them but they still caused some serious damage to the Queensboro Bridge.
"Dang, that thing has got a lot of firepower!" Spider-Man is shocked.
Overdrive looks up ahead and sees that he's almost made it to the city, the heroes are still chasing after him and are getting closer.
"I'm impressed, but let's if you can keep up!" Overdrive steps on the gas.
The car is speeding up very fast as the two heroes are having a hard time catching up to it.
"Whoa, this guy is very fast!" Ghost-Spider tells Spider-Man.
The car made it to the city as the spiders tried to speed up faster but the car is much faster than them swinging, the car made a turn on the corner, they made the turn and finds out that the car has disappeared.
"What the?!" Spider-Man is stunned.
Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider landed on the ground to see that the car has just vanished.
"Where did he go?!" Ghost-Spider looks around.
"He couldn't just disappeared!" Spider-Man is still looking.
The car came out of the corner behind them and they turned around to see it.
"There he is!" Ghost-Spider tells Spider-Man.
"He snuck up behind us!" Spider-Man tells Ghost-Spider.
The car pulled out two rockets out of the headlights, it fired at them as it hits the grounds and blasted them off their feet, they crashed against the other cars nearby. Overdrive is getting the best of them.
"Now so tough without wheels, aren't you?!" Overdrive is taunting them.
Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider are both still injured by the blast as they started to get up and look at the new villain who's giving them trouble.
"Who are you?" Spider-Man wants a name.
"The name's Overdrive and you've just lost this challenge." Overdrive introduced himself.
Overdrive steps on the accelerator and speeds up towards them hoping to run them over, they've jumped out of the way and both managed to shot webbing at the car as they're being pulled away. Overdrive looks back to see that the spiders managed to stick their web lines on his car.
"Let's see if you can still hold on!" Overdrive steering the wheel.
Overdrive tries to move around to shake them off, they're still holding on and climbing at high speed, Overdrive is still driving as the two spider managed to cling themselves onto his car, he grabbed the duffel bag and leaves the car on autopilot.
"Pull over!" Spider-Man demanded Overdrive to stop.
"Can't do that, sorry to ditch you both." Overdrive uses the ejection seat.
Overdrive got launched out of his car as the spiders are still on the car driving fast, they watched as he landed on the street and runs towards the man on a motorcycle, he pushed him off the seat and stole the bike.
"Hey! That's my bike!"
Overdrive uses his gloves to distribute the nanites and the whole motorcycle change right before their eyes as it's happening.
"Now it's my bike!" Overdrive rides the motorcycle.
Overdrive escapes with the cash he stolen as the spider sees some people crossing the streets up ahead as the car is still moving too fast.
"We gotta stop this car!" Spider-Man says to Ghost-Spider.
"Got any ideas?!" Ghost-Spider wants a suggestion.
"I got one, follow my lead!" Spider-Man has a suggestion.
Spider-Man fired off a web line at one of the buildings nearby as did Ghost-Spider, they attach the webbing to the car hoping to make it slow down, they shot multiple webs at more buildings, the people up ahead noticed something speeding towards them as they all got scared. The car is slowing itself down as everyone closes their eyes awaiting to get hit, but the car stopped in front of them. Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider managed to stop the car from running over some civilians but they turn around to see Overdrive escaping very fast and is too far away now for them to catch him.
"Did you see that?" Ghost-Spider asking Spider-Man.
"Yeah, I saw it." Spider-Man says to Ghost-Spider.
At the Spider-Cave, both Peter and Gwen have the top part of their suits removed as they help tend to their wounds that Overdrive inflicted, George Stacy came into the lair and find them both too injured.
"Are you both okay? What happened?" George Stacy asking them.
"We're fine, dad... but there's a new villain in town and he's got wheels." Gwen informs her dad.
"Fast wheels, with firepower. We never had a chance, he's both fast and furious." Peter informs George Stacy.
"He got away? From you two?" George Stacy is surprised.
"Unfortunately... the car he was driving was modified beyond its normal capabilities, it came equipped with weapons." Peter explained to George Stacy.
"And talk about speed, this guy ran circle around us and caught us by surprise, we couldn't catch up to him while web swinging." Gwen tells her dad.
"The way he faced us, I think that he was toying with us." Peter says to George Stacy.
"Exactly, and now he knows for sure that you can't stop him by web swinging." George Stacy says to Peter and Gwen.
Peter and Gwen are entering unexpected territory here since battling a guy on wheels is a whole new game.
Back at the hideout, Overdrive just returned on his newly acquired motorcycle with the cash he just stolen. He took off his helmet and he is happy with the way things turned out.
"Overdrive, you've done it again. Even the so called heroes are no match for a man on wheels." Overdrive is happy with his success.
He puts the duffel bag on the table and opens up to see all the millions he's stolen tonight.
"Why stop at one robbery when I can simply do another one without difficulty. With my new technology and my driving skills, no one is a match for me, not even the two heroes of New York will be able to stop me. Overdrive will own this city, this is my turf now." Overdrive is so overconfident in his abilities.
Overdrive decided to make a name for himself in the city as he knows that Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider are out of their league when they come up against him.
The next day at school, the bell rang as class is dismissed for the day, everyone is walking down the hallways as Peter, Gwen, Mary Jane walk together talking, Harry and Flash catches up to them.
"So is it true what I've heard?" Flash asking Peter.
"Heard what?" Peter is confused.
"That you got pulled over for reckless driving." Harry says it to Peter.
"How'd you know that?" Peter is very surprised.
Harry holds up a smartphone showing a footage of Peter driving a Ferrari around Roosevelt Island with Tony Stark being followed by a cop. Peter is shocked as was Gwen and Mary Jane as they seen the footage.
"Who else knows?" Peter is embarrassed.
"Everyone knows, you're the talk of the school now." Harry says to Peter.
"Dang Parker, didn't know that you had it in you." Flash is impressed.
"It wasn't intentional, and fortunately no one was hurt. Besides I have to go to the DMV and take the test as part of my arraignment. So see you guy later." Peter tells the guys.
"I'm coming with you, Tiger." Mary Jane follows after Peter.
"Hey, try to take things slow this time, or you'll be grounded without wheels, Parker!" Flash smiled as he teased Peter.
"Shut up!" Peter teased right back and still walks away.
Flash and Harry smiled and watched as Peter is walking away with Mary Jane to take the test.
Gwen is staying behind at school as Betty and Glory approached her and looked at Peter walking away and admiring him.
"Dang, I never thought that Parker would get in trouble." Glory is surprised.
"Your boyfriend is quite the bad boy, isn't he?" Betty telling Gwen.
"You have no idea." Gwen smiled as she knows exactly who her boyfriend is.
At the NYPD forensics department, Captain Stacy and Lieutenant Watanabe enters the impound section where CSI's are working to study the car that was used by Overdrive to commit the robbery. The lead forensic scientist Ray Cooper is doing the work.
"Officer Cooper, what do we have?" George Stacy asking Ray Cooper.
"To be honest, Captain Stacy, this car is very advanced, the tech inside is unlike anything I've ever seen before." Ray Cooper explained about the car.
"Have any ideas who did all the work on it?" George Stacy says to Ray Cooper.
"This wasn't done by a regular tuner shop and this ain't illegal modification for street racing, based on the technology, I'd say that this was done by rocket scientist. But I did find something unusual as I was taking a closer look, come over here." Ray Cooper tells George Stacy.
George and Yuri walked up to Ray near the microscope, George took the first peek and sees something unexpected through the scope, he spotted micro mechanical automatons moving around with tiny little legs.
"What are those things?" George Stacy is clueless.
"I'm not entirely sure, I took a sample off the hull of the car and this is what I've found." Ray Cooper says to George Stacy.
Yuri took a peek of the microscope to look at the nanites, a young 16 year old girl came into the lab with light brown hair tied in a ponytail and brown eye wearing glasses.
"Hey dad." Carlie Cooper walked into the room.
"Carlie, what brings you by?" Ray Cooper is happy to see his daughter Carlie.
"I was on my way home, I thought I'd stop by." Carlie says to her dad.
"You remember my daughter, Carlie?" Ray Cooper asking George Stacy.
"Of course, she and Gwen use to hang out when they were so young. Still planning on following your old man's footsteps?" George Stacy asking Carlie.
"Hopefully, it's in my genes." Carlie says to George Stacy.
"The department could always use an extra hand in forensics. By the way, Ray, can you give me a sample of that hull?" George Stacy asking Ray Cooper.
Ray grabbed the slide with the sample from the microscope and hands it to George Stacy.
"What are you going to do, Captain?" Yuri Watanabe is curious.
"I know someone who might be able to examine this." George Stacy holding up the slide.
Meanwhile at the DMV, a lot of people are waiting in line to take the test in driving, Peter and Mary Jane are among them, she could tell that Peter is feeling nervous about this whole thing.
"Feeling nervous, Tiger?" Mary Jane asking Peter.
"I've never applied for a driver's license before, what if I fail?" Peter tells Mary Jane.
"You've studied hard last night and you've already know how to drive, evidently." Mary Jane tells Peter.
"Geez, thanks for reminding me, MJ." Peter isn't too enthusiastic.
"The point is, stay calm and obey the rules of the road, you'll do fine." Mary Jane gave Peter some encouragement.
"Hopefully this will turn out fine than shop class, I only got an C plus and the birdhouse wasn't very pretty, Flash was the only guy in class to get a A minus." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Yeah yeah, surprise surprise." Mary Jane says sarcastically.
A car came up to the driving lane with a instructor getting out of the driver seat.
"Peter Parker?!"
Peter raised his hand up as the instructor spotted him.
"You're up, hop in and let's go!"
"Good luck, Tiger!" Mary Jane wished Peter luck.
Peter walked up to the driver seat as the instructor takes the passenger seat to observe his driving.
"Okay, since this is your first test, let's start out with the basics. Put you seat belts on first."
Peter pulled the seat belt and locks into place, he's all strapped to his seat.
"Very good, now turn on the ignition."
Peter pressed the ignition button and turned the engine on as they both hear it roaring.
"Okay, she's woken up, now shift the gear from park to drive."
Peter put his hand on the stick and switched it into drive.
"Alright, now let's drive up slowly, step on the gas."
Peter steps on the gas and drives the vehicle around very slowly and normally.
At Overdrive's hideout, James is out of his suit and working on the gloves, making some modifications to it, his laptop nearby is monitoring for any armored car moving around the city. He stops his work as he looks to see one happening very soon, it's coming through the George Washington Bridge.
"Perfect, another payday." James smiled as he's got more work.
He got up from his chair and grabbed his gloves, he dressed himself up in his suit and puts on the helmet.
"Overdrive is back in business." Overdrive is planning another heist.
Much later at the Spider-Cave, George Stacy came into the hideout to find that no one is here yet, he walked around to see all the cool stuff Peter and Gwen works with. He focuses on the supercomputer and is amazed how big this piece of technology is.
"It's pretty cool, right?" Gwen came into the lair.
"Looks pretty expensive, how'd you two get your hands on this?" George Stacy asking his daughter.
"Back then this use to be the hideout of Tinkerer, now it's ours, this place had some improvements, thanks to the help of Tony Stark." Gwen explained to her dad.
Gwen and George sees Peter and Mary Jane returning after the day at the DMV.
"So how did it go on your test?" George Stacy asking Peter.
"Smoothly, it was a piece of cake. Though, that's not why you're here, is it?" Peter could tells there's something else to George's visit.
"No, this is." George Stacy is holding a piece of evidence.
"What is that?" Gwen took it from her dad's hand.
"CSI was able to pull a sample from the hull of the car Overdrive used, and they found something unusual." George Stacy explained about the evidence.
Gwen took it to the advanced microscope and slides it under, the supercomputer's screen shows an image of the nanites for everyone to see.
"Whoa!" Peter and Gwen both say simultaneously.
"What's 'whoa'? What are those things?" George Stacy is confused.
"Nanites." Peter tells George Stacy.
"What are nanites?" Mary Jane doesn't understand.
"Miniature automatons miniaturized almost to a size of a molecule, technology that is beyond anyone has ever seen before." Peter explained it in scientific terms.
"In Layman's terms, please." Mary Jane still doesn't understands what they're saying.
"They're basically microscopic robots, too small to see to the naked eye, but this seems more advanced than anything that is scientifically possible until now." Gwen explained about the nanites.
"Where did you find them?" Peter asking George Stacy.
"They were all over Overdrive's car, millions of them." George Stacy tells Peter.
"So that how he does it, his technology must've restructures and modifies any machinery he touches. Remember that motorcycle he stole to make his escape? It's change at that moment right before our eyes." Gwen remembers that moment.
"Of course, this guy just revolutionized nanotechnology in ways that's not possible, it's impressive." Peter is amazed by this technology.
"Okay, Geek Squad, if you're all done admiring technology, can we figure out a way to find him?" Mary Jane reminded them.
George's phone is ringing as he pulls it out and answered the call.
"Captain Stacy here?" George Stacy holding the phone to his ear.
"Captain, it's him, Overdrive is back, he just assaulted an armored car in Washington Heights, it was delivering more newly minted bills and he took down a couple of squad cars with officers seriously injured, he's still there right now looting the truck." Yuri Watanabe informs George Stacy.
"Thanks for informing me, Lieutenant." George Stacy hangs up the phone and looks troubled.
"What is it, dad?" Gwen is worried.
"It's Overdrive, he's back and he's just committed another armored car robbery, in Washington Heights, and he's still right now, if you'll hurry you might be able to catch up to him before he makes his escape." George Stacy informs them of Overdrive.
"Right, let's get going." Peter tells Gwen.
Peter and Gwen went to change into their suits to go stop Overdrive before he gets away again.
It's nighttime in the city, Overdrive is doing his same routine again robbing the armored car like he did yesterday, packing up the money as fast as he can. He zipped up the bag and got out of the back. He hops onto his new bike she stole yesterday and modified it thanks to his nanites. He then spotted Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider heading his way.
"Perfect, another challenge. Let's go." Overdrive is excited.
Overdrive turns around and speeds away as the two spiders spotted him making his escape again.
"We can't let him get away this time!" Spider-Man is swinging.
"Agreed, let's get him!" Ghost-Spider is swinging.
Both spiders tries to swing faster than before but even still Overdrive is still too fast for them as he's getting farther away.
"Ha! Too slow!" Overdrive taunts them.
Overdrive launched a mine up in the air as the two spiders are swinging towards it.
"Oh no!" Ghost-Spider is frightened.
"Get out of the way!!!" Spider-Man yelled out.
The mine exploded as the blast sent Ghost-Spider crashing towards a nearby apartment building, Spider-Man is still swinging but he sees Ghost-Spider injured.
"Ghost-Spider!!!" Spider-Man is worried.
"I'm okay, go, go!!!" Ghost-Spider is down for the count.
Spider-Man listens to Ghost-Spider as he still chases after Overdrive who is still getting away. Overdrive noticed that Spider is still chasing after him.
"I'm impressed that you can still keep up, but let's see for how long!" Overdrive is still driving.
Overdrive hits the nitrous boost and the motorcycle is speeding very fast away for Spider-Man to catch up, he ran out of webbing as he jumped down onto the ground, he quickly replaces the cartridges but it's pointless as Overdrive has already from him once again.
"Damn it!" Spider-Man is disappointed.
Spider-Man couldn't do anything to stop Overdrive as the man is too fast for him and Ghost-Spider. Overdrive has won this battle again.
Back at the Spider-Cave, George and Mary Jane waited for the heroes to come back, hoping that they've finally caught Overdrive. They then spotted Spider-Man helping Ghost-Spider into the lair as she looks like she's been injured more than Spider-Man. They've took off their mask and they have disappointed looks on their faces.
"What happened out there?" George Stacy asking them.
"He got away again, neither of us could stop him this time." Peter explained to George Stacy.
Mary Jane walked up and helped Gwen along with Peter who still got a hold of her, they escorted her to get first aid. George looked at the two kids who are disappointed in themselves that a supervillain has gotten the best of them yet again.
The next day at Midtown High, the school bell rang as school has ended for the day, Peter and Gwen walked out of class together as they have thoughts on how to stop Overdrive again. Flash is walking by holding his phone playing the news.
"Last night, a new villain calling himself Overdrive has robbed another armored car and made off with another millions in newly minted bills. Like before, neither Spider-Man nor Ghost-Spider were able to stop him from getting away and leaving some banks without any money. Can New York survive with a new supervillain who has proven to be too fast for the heroes to catch up? We have received this video footages of Overdrive himself emailed our station."
The news shows footage of Overdrive showing himself and sending a message, Flash stopped as Peter and Gwen noticed Overdrive, they all watched together.
"I have a message to the heroes of New York, Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider, if you're listening, then just know that I plan to stay around here and commit more robberies each day just for fun, if you're both up for the challenge, then try to stop me if you can, as I can smoke you both on wheels obviously. Come and get me if you dare, I'll be waiting." Overdrive sent his message.
"Cocky bastard, just love to run his mouth. I'm sure that Spider-Man will find a way to take this dude down." Flash still has faith in Spider-Man.
"I hope so, Flash. I certainly hope so." Peter walks away.
Later at the Spider-Cave, Peter, Gwen, Mary Jane, and George Stacy watched the footage of Overdrive sending his message to them.
"Come and get me if you dare, I'll be waiting." Overdrive's footage ended.
"This guy got some balls, calling you both out on TV." George Stacy is surprised by this message.
"He's daring us to challenge him, he knows that neither of us can stop him by web swinging, we're going to have to change our tactics on catching him." Peter says to the group.
"How? He's got fast wheels, he can run circles around us before we even know it. How'd do we match that?" Gwen asking Peter for a solution.
"I don't know, Gwen." Peter is clueless.
They then hear a car honking its horn outside, they're surprised to hear it again as they walk out through the tunnel.
They made it outside to see Tony's secretary Pepper Potts getting out of the same Ferrari Tony was driving before.
"Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy." Pepper tells Peter and Gwen.
"Pepper Potts? What are you doing here?" Peter is surprised by her presence.
"Mr. Stark has sent me, he's well aware of the trouble you're both facing. He has a solutions to both your problems, if you'll follow me to the tower, he has a surprise for you both." Pepper gets back into the car.
Peter and Gwen are curious as to what this surprise is and how it could solve their problems, but they'll have to take it to stop Overdrive.
At Stark Tower, Peter and Gwen are riding down the elevator with Pepper Potts as they await their surprise.
"So what does Tony have for us? A new iron suit?" Peter is wondering.
"You'll see." Pepper smiled as she remained cool.
The elevator arrived in a private garage where the whole room is dark.
"So what's the surprise?" Gwen asking Pepper.
"Tony figured that you kids might have a need for speed, so he built these. J.A.R.V.I.S., lights please!" Pepper asking J.A.R.V.I.S.
The lights around the room lit up as they both saw two advanced tech motorcycles right before their eyes, one is red and blue and the other is white and pink.
"Whoa!!" Peter and Gwen are amazed.
"These are your new Spider-Cycles, built by Tony Stark himself, both came equipped with advanced weapons and new state of the art engines that makes them faster than your average motor. With theses, you both have a fighting chance now." Pepper introduced the Spider-Cycles.
Peter and Gwen each approached the Spider-Cycles, Peter walked up to the red and blue one obviously since they match his colors, he got on it and is amazed by such piece of machinery.
"This is so awesome." Peter smiled that he got his own wheels.
Gwen got on the white and pink one as they're her colors like her suit's, she smiled as she likes her new gift.
"I love it." Gwen likes her own wheels.
"Excuse the interruption, but there are reports of Overdrive hitting the bank downtown right now." J.A.R.V.I.S. informs the group.
"And the timing couldn't be perfect to test out these bad boys." Peter says to Gwen.
"Look out, Overdrive, we're going to be hot on your tail." Gwen is ready for a challenge.
Meanwhile at the bank downtown, a lot of people are trapped inside as the vault door is already torn down, Overdrive is collecting all he could take in a duffel bag. He finished collecting the money and walked out of the vault.
"Sorry to barge in like this, but I came to make a withdrawal, hope you all don't mind?" Overdrive telling the bank patrons.
Everyone is too scared to say anything.
"Okay then, I bid you all a good day. Sayanora!" Overdrive wave them goodbye.
He ran out of the bank and hopped onto his bike as he's about to make his escape until he hears a strange noise coming his way. He sees a couple things from afar heading so fast.
"I'll be damned!" Overdrive is surprised by what he's seeing.
Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider both came in riding their new spider-cycles, everyone in the surrounding area spotted the heroes sporting out their new set of wheels. Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider arrived just in time to see Overdrive on his bike, the villain himself is shocked to see the new improved bikes they have.
"Nice... this should be an interesting challenge." Overdrive is impressed.
"You won't get away from us that easily, not this time." Ghost-Spider tells Overdrive.
"This time, we're going to bring you in." Spider-Man tells Overdrive.
"We'll see about that, try to keep up again if you can!" Overdrive turns and drives away.
Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider chase after Overdrive who is going very fast, but they're going very fast too catching up. Overdrive turns his head to see that the heroes are getting closer and coming too fast.
"It's not possible." Overdrive is shocked.
"Oh, it's quite possible, Biker Boy." Spider-Man still driving.
"Perhaps, but good thing my ride comes with weapons!" Overdrive still driving.
Overdrive's bike tossed a land mine from the back as Ghost-Spider spotted it.
"I got it!" Ghost-Spider tells Spider-Man.
Ghost-Spider fired a repulsor shot and blasted the mines out of the air, Overdrive is quite surprised that their bikes have weapons too.
"What the?" Overdrive is shocked.
"Whoa!" Spider-Man is surprised.
"So cool!" Ghost-Spider is impressed.
A police helicopter is following the high speed chase happening in New York, two heroes on motorcycles chasing a villain on one.
Overdrive is having trouble ditching them on their new bikes, so he decided to give it more speed by hitting the nitrous, the bike got boosted. Spider-Man noticed him going too fast thanks to the nitrous.
"Not this time!" Spider-Man still riding.
The spider-cycle fired off a web line at the back tire of Overdrive's bike, causing it to jam up and slowing down, he's troubled that his bike is losing speed as it made a full stop. He looked back at his back tire to see that all jammed up with webbing. He looks at the two heroes still on their bikes have him cornered.
"It's over, Overdrive!" Spider-Man tells Overdrive.
Overdrive is looking around to find alternative transportation until he looked up at the sky and sees the police chopper hanging above the air.
"It's not over yet." Overdrive refuses to give up.
The bike's ejection seat sent him up flying towards the helicopter as the pilot got spooked by Overdrive hanging onto the chopper. Overdrive entered through the copters port door, he got inside and turns to the pilot.
"This is the part where you get out." Overdrive kicked the pilot off.
Ghost-Spider spotted the pilot falling from his copter as she got off and jumped up to catch him before he hits the ground, she saved him just in time. But she and Spider-Man looked up to see that Overdrive is using his nanites again to reshape the helicopter into his design. Overdrive looked down at the heroes as he waved them goodbye, he pilots the helicopter and turns away to escape by air. Spider-Man turns to Ghost-Spider who is still holding the pilot.
"Go get him!" Ghost-Spider tells Spider-Man.
Spider-Man rides his spider-cycle after the helicopter as it's still up in the air and still climbing higher, he looks at the nearby buildings in his path and got an idea.
"Alright, time to see what this bad boy can do." Spider-Man still riding.
He uses the spider-cycle's newest function, the tires are built for climbing walls, he speeds towards the wall and angle it up, it clings itself onto the wall surface and Spider-Man is driving up and catching up, Spider-Man puts the bike on auto drive as he jumps out of the bike and webbed up the copter's hull. Spider-Man starts climbing himself up towards the cockpit, Overdrive is still piloting until Spider-Man opened the starboard door and surprised Overdrive.
"I'm afraid this is your stop!" Spider-Man then kicked Overdrive hard.
Overdrive is pushed out of the cockpit and falls down in the air as Spider-Man puts the helicopter on autopilot and jumps out after Overdrive who is still falling down towards the ground without a parachute. Spider-Man is diving down very fast and he webs up Overdrive, then he opens up his suits web wings and glides closer to the ground and dropped Overdrive at a safe height. Spider-Man landed on his feet as Ghost-Spider came on her bike and sees Overdrive wrapped up in a cocoon, Spider-Man walked up and picked Overdrive up in the air.
"Not so tough without wheels, aren't you?" Spider-Man uses Overdrive's own words.
Spider-Man's then drops him down and removes the gloves from Overdrive's hands, taking away his signature weapons. George Stacy and the rest of the police force arrived to see that Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider finally apprehended Overdrive for causing all the terror around New York City.
"Here he is, Overdrive, all wrapped up for you, Captain Stacy." Spider-Man showing Overdrive.
"Excellent work. Officers, take Overdrive into custody." George Stacy orders the officers.
The officers walked and picked up Overdrive still wrapped in webbing as they escorted him away, Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider finally brought Overdrive to justice and the streets of New York are safe for now.
Back at the Spider-Cave, Mary Jane is watching the news on the supercomputer of Overdrive's capture and arrest.
"James Beverley, the man who goes by Overdrive has finally been apprehended by police with the help of New York's heroes. The millions in cash he stole today and from the previous robberies has finally been recovered, the streets of New York is safe once again thanks to the heroes Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider."
Mary Jane hears noises coming down the tunnel as she turns off the supercomputer and looks to see a her friends have finally returned and with new wheels at their disposal, her eyes have widen as she gazed upon the spider-cycles, her friends took off their masks.
"Whoa! Where did you get these hot wheels?!" Mary Jane asking her friends.
"Courtesy of Tony Stark, these are the spider-cycles." Peter explained to Mary Jane.
Mary Jane walked up closer to take a better look at these spider-cycles, one is red and blue and the other is white and pink, they matched their colors.
"Damn, they're beautiful. At least you both don't have to web sling around New York anymore, not when you have these." Mary Jane says to her friends.
"That's one way of looking at things, too much web swinging puts too much stress on my back." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"You too? I thought I was the only one." Gwen says to Peter.
Peter, Gwen, and Mary Jane smiled and laughed at that remark. Things are looking to improve with the two heroes now that they've got wheels added to their arsenal.
It's February 11th, at the Parker Residence, Peter is inside the garage doing some work on the dune buggy that his uncle Ben used to do some work on while he was still alive. Mary Jane and Gwen stopped by to see Peter with a wrench torquing the engine.
"Nice ride, Tiger." Mary Jane complemented Peter.
"It's was my uncle's, he and I would work on it together as a project, those were some good times." Peter explained to Mary Jane.
"You've could get used this before against Overdrive." Mary Jane says to Peter.
"And call it what? The Spider-Mobile? Lame." Peter tells it to Mary Jane.
A convertible stopped by the neighborhood, they looked to see Harry Osborn has stopped by and walking towards them.
"Hey Pete, still working on that piece of junk?" Harry says to Peter.
"This piece of junk has some sentimental value to me, it was my uncle's, please have some respect." Peter says to Harry.
"My bad, didn't mean to offend." Harry says to Peter.
"It's fine, what brings you by?" Peter is curious.
"I thought that we can all go hang out, if you're all interested?" Harry asking his friends.
Aunt May came by the back holding an envelope in her hand.
"Peter, this came in the mail, it's addressed to you." May holding the envelope.
May gave it to Peter as he checks where it's from.
"It's from the DMV, I hope it's some good news." Peter says to the group.
Peter opens it and pulls out what appears to be a card, everyone is surprised.
"Is that?" Gwen says to Peter.
"Yes, it's my driver's license, its finally here." Peter smiled as he holds it in his hand.
Everyone is so happy that Peter finally got his driver's license.
"I'm so proud of you, Peter." May is proud.
"Thanks Aunt May, we should celebrate. Why don't we go to Stan's." Peter suggested to the group.
"Sure thing, Pete, my treat." Harry offered.
"Thanks Harry, but I'm driving." Peter opens his hand as he wants the keys.
"Very funny, Pete." Harry thinks Peter is joking.
Peter still has his palm open and waiting for the keys, Mary Jane and Gwen both have Harry the look, he got nervous as he gave in and gave the car keys to Peter to drive.
"Fine, but I call shotgun." Harry says to Peter.
Four teens walked up to Harry's convertible as Peter took the driver seat with Harry taking the passenger, the girls hopped onto the back. May stayed behind and looked at Peter finally behind the wheel.
"Drive safely and please be careful this time." May tells Peter.
"I will, I promise." Peter tells Aunt May.
"Let's go, Tiger!" Mary Jane tells Peter.
Peter turns on the engine and shifts the gear to drive, he steps on the accelerator and drives away with his friends as the girls all yelled and laughed, May looked as her nephew is finally driving legally.
