Howdy again everyone. bit of an update. I have been on vacation hence why I cranked out three chapters in x number of days. Sadly, that time is coming to a close and I will be going back to an uneven update schedule because of my IRL work, even more so because of the Christmas season. So if you don't see an update for weeks at a time, it is mostly due to that. Now for some review answers!
Yubel875 - Jaden will NOT end up having the other Signer Dragons. Red Dragon was chosen simply because i thought it fit him well and the latest incarnations didn't seem to fit. As for the girls, one of them will be joining the SoL, mostly because they were forced into it.
Unsan Musho - You are actually right! Last year I got for Christmas the 1993 Sonic the Hedgehog Cartoon and after watching that, I had the idea to incorperate them into my story. Sadly, I was too far along with Emperor to include them so I opted to make them appear in the second year.
A lot of you are wondering about the decks of the StH counterparts. Those will be revealed in a later chapter. For now, enjoy!
The weekend passed quickly for the students and it was soon time to go to school. Jaden walked into the first class of his second year, Synchro Summonings. With him were Syrus, Chazz, Bastion, and Mindy. Maurice, Salome, and his crew were there as well, Miles sitting on Fiona's lap, much to his embarrassment. Seeing the weird looks, Fiona sighed.
"He's got Dwarfism, everyone. It's why he's sitting on my lap."
Everyone gave an 'ah' in understanding. Soon, the bell chimed and in walked Doctor Adam Fudo. He placed his suitcase on his desk, smiling at the gathered students. He introduced himself, what he did for a living before coming here to Central, and what they were going to cover this year. He took roll and then dove right into the lesson once everyone was in.
"Synchro Summoning. As I said before, I was one of several researchers at Industrial Illusions to come up with new methods of summoning, to keep Duel Monsters fresh. The result was Synchros." Doctor Fudo said, smiling.
Opening up his suitcase, he pulled out some cards and turned on his projector.
"Synchro monsters require three things; the first is a Tuner monster." Fudo said, pausing. "Actually, make that four things! The first thing is that there must be Synchros in the Extra deck! Yes, they go into the Extra Deck much like Fusion monsters."
He placed the cards, showing a radio like warrior, a cobbled together machine, and finally, a strange jelly like creature with a skull for a face. He explained that the three up on the screen were Tuners. Some Tuners were like normal monsters, just having a flavor text. But many Tuners were in line with effect monsters. The middle card was pointed at by Fudo.
"This is Junk Synchron, an effect Tuner. It allows you to summon a level two or lower monster from your graveyard."
"Why would you bring back such a weak leveled monster? No point to having that stain my deck!" A kid up in the blues snapped.
Doctor Fudo chuckled, lightly adjusting his glasses. That brought him to the second requirement for a Synchro monster. In order to summon a Synchro, you needed to have non-Tuner monsters.
What were Non-Tuner monsters? That was easy. Every other monster was a Non-Tuner. Junk Synchron's effect may look weak in the eyes of some, but it was really how you played the card. This was the third and final requirement for the Synchron monster. Doctor Fudo pulled out a card, showing it to the class on the projector.
It was a monster with sky blue armor, red glasses, a large right arm, and a large scarf.
"This is Junk Warrior. Notice anything about it?"
Everyone took a look at the card, but couldn't see a thing. Jaden did, but he kept quiet, wanting to listen to the lesson. Fudo smirked. Junk Warrior could only be Synchro Summoned with Junk Synchron and nothing else. Most Synchro Monsters required only a tuner and one or more non-tuner monsters. But others required a certain tuner by used.
"Now, let me explain how Synchro Summoning actually works. We got the Tuner and now, we have a non-tuner." Fudo said, playing a level two monster. "Count the stars on Junk Warrior everyone! Its important to know this!"
The students did so, Salome pointing out that it was a five star monster. Fudo nodded excitedly.
"Yes! In order to properly Synchro Summon, you must add up the levels! Since our Tuner monster, Junk Synchron is a level three, we need one level two monster OR two level one monsters to summon Junk Warrior!"
"Amazing. Its simple math!" Bastion said, excited.
Fudo nodded. The levels of the Tuner and non-tuner must equal the level of the Synchro monster. Higher numbered levels mean higher leveled Synchro monsters.
"Like Red Dragon Archfiend?" Miles asked making Doctor Fudo start.
Jaden grinned, explaining that he had summoned the new card of his in a duel with a freshmen. Fudo chuckled, shaking his head.
"Of course, there are new cards out there to increase or decrease the level of monsters as well as some old cards. Demotion for example."
Everyone buzzed with excitement over the new summoning method and new cards. They had already seen Red Dragon Archfiend at work, so what else did the new cards have in store for them? Fudo explained that his team were still working on yet another method of Synchro Summoning, but it had not yet been perfected.
The PA suddenly came to a life and a sleazy voice dripped over it.
"Will Chazz Princeton and Reginald Von Howard the Third please report to Duel Arena one? Chazz Princeton and Reginald Von Howard to Duel Arena one."
Chazz looked at Doctor Fudo, the man also frowning.
"Seems like class is dismissed for now everyone. Don't expect a lot of homework from this course given how its all new. Still, I think tomorrow I'll have you test out some pre-made Synchro decks. Just be sure to return them at the end of the class."
Everyone nodded, Chazz getting up and heading for the arena.
EODGX
The arena was packed, students of both years lining the seats. Syrus, Bastion, Jasmine and Mindy sat in the stands, joined by the others. Alexis and Jaden walking in. The two sat down, frowning. Syrus caught the frowns, looking at them.
"What's up?" Syrus asked.
"We just actually met the guy who set this duel up. Edgar Snivels. He was at the assembly last week. Turns out, he wants to turn Duel Academy into a school for stars. Apparently, he heard Aster was enrolled and wanted the press to know of another up and coming star." Jaden said, scowling.
"Hence this duel. Edgar hopes that one of his blues, his words, will be able to be that next star."
That made the group all scowl, seeing Chazz already on the Arena floor. A man with a young boy walked out, Jaden pointing the man out as Edgar Snivels.
Edgar was a short man with a balding head and large needle nose, six pieces of hair on his skull. He wore an ugly green tweed suit complete with mud brown shoes, a haughty smirk on his face. Next to him was a young boy with brown spiky hair in a blue blazer. The man pranced onto the arena, holding out a microphone.
"Good day students. For those who don't know me, I am Edgar Snivels, your Business 101 instructor. I have arranged a duel between mister Chazz Princeton of Slifer Red and Mister Reginald Van Howell the Third! Should Mister Princeton win, he will be promoted to Obelisk Blue. But should he lose, he will demoted."
Here, the man mock gasped.
"Oh wait, you are already a Red, Mister Chazz. I guess that means you'll be expelled instead."
Edgar began to laugh hysterically, everyone covering their ears at the noise. Chazz just scowled. Edgar stated that there was to be no direct attacks below the belt, but trash talk was legal. The boy smirked.
"Then allow me to start us off! You're a stuck-up, self-absorbed prick and no one likes you!" Reginald snapped.
Chazz looked bored.
"I'm waiting for the insult. Or was that the best you could come up with?" Chazz snapped right back, much to Reginald's shock. "Listen up, Reggie! I don't duel to win popularity contests like this one! I duel to prove that Chazz Princeton can overcome the odds! I do things MY way and MY way alone! Red, Yellow, or Blue! The colors don't matter, what matters is your skill level! And pipsqueak, you got a long way to go. Thankfully, you are in the right place to learn!"
The two inserted their decks, Edgar hurrying off stage. He was met with an irate Midori.
"What's this about Expulsion, Edgar?! I did not sign off on this!"
"Oh, but you did, Miss Hibiki." Edgar said smugly, pulling out a piece of paper.
Showing it to the Chancellor, he explained that it was under a request of his to include financial figures from the various branches of the schools for his lessons. Midori grit her teeth, pissed that she had been tricked. She threw the papers down, scowling at Edgar. The man simply shrugged, stating that it was time to churn out stars, not losers. This was merely the first step to such a thing.
The crew over heard the entire thing, Alexis scowling.
"That is the most selfish, egotistical little shit stain I ever saw, not to mention that plan of his." Alexis said, cross.
"Agreed. We best keep an eye on that toad." Jaden said, turning his attention to the duel.
Reginald: 8000/Chazz: 8000
"I'll kick this off by playing my Marauding Captain in attack mode!" Reggie said, drawing a sixth card. "Thanks to its effect, I can play Warrior Lady of the Wastelands from my hand!"
Two monsters appeared, one a man in armor and the other a woman dressed as a bandit. Chazz frowned, recalling Captain from his time at North. The final five had played an entire swarm of them but he got over them easily. He watched as Reggie played two Equip spells, Jewel Sword on his Captain and Divine Sword – Pheniox Blade on his Lady.
Captain – ATK/1200 → 1500
Lady – ATK/1100 → 1400
"Hmm, this is a problem. Those are powerful effect cards if used right." Bastion said, crossing his arms.
"No joke. Equip spells are plenty powerful with a good combo." Jasmine said, looking at her Amazoness deck.
Reginald's field gained a facedown spell/trap card, turning it over to Chazz. Said boy drew, looking over his hand. It wasn't too good, mostly spells and traps. Still, he had a card that could help.
"I play Graceful Charity, drawing three cards so long as I toss out two." Chazz explained, drawing his three.
The two cards he chose to toss out were his Cthonian Poylmer trap and his Ojamagic spell.
"That triggers my Ojamagic's effect! Now I add Ojama's Yellow, Green, and Black to my hand!"
Once the three were in his hand, the spirits appeared.
"Hey, hey, CDA! We're back~!"
"Did you miss us, nyuck, nyuck, nycuk?!"
"I know I missed all the great food!"
Reginald's face was one of shock, why add the three weakest monsters in the game to his hand? Chazz smirked, revealing another spell called Ojama Ride.
(Ojama Ride – Type/Spell/Normal.
Send 1 "Ojama Yellow", "Ojama Black", and "Ojama Green" from your hand to the Graveyard. Special Summon up to 3 Level 4 or lower Machine-Type Union monsters from your Deck in face-up Defense Position. Those monsters cannot change their battle positions.)
"I toss out my three Ojamas to play Y-Dragon Head, Z-Metal Tank, and W-Wing Catapult. Next, I play Monster Recovery, taking back my W-Wing and shuffling it and my hand into my deck."
After a few shuffles, Chazz drew his new hand. He smirked, playing X-head Cannon and then removed the three from play to Fusion Summon-
"XYZ-Dragon Cannon!"
The massive mech roared. Chazz used its effect, sending his Enchanted Fitting Room and Cthonian Alliance to the grave. Both Warrior Lady and Captain blew up, Jewel Sword becoming a diamond that landed on Reginald's deck. The boy explained that thanks to Jewel Sword's effect, he could draw a card.
"Whatever. XYZ, attack Reginald directly!"
The twin cannons of the monster charged up and blasted the boy, making him cry out.
Reginald: 5200
"I think I made you suffer enough. Your move."
Reginald drew, revealing it to be Pot of greed. He drew two cards, using his facedown, Call of the Haunted, to bring back his Warrior Lady. He equipped her with Great Sword, raising her power to fourteen hundred.
"But that's not the real reason I played it. See, the monster equipped with it can be treated as TWO offerings!"
"Say what?!" Chazz gasped.
Warrior Lady vanished, in its place was a large man in armor and carrying a sword. Chazz paled.
"Oh shit, Gilford the Legend!" Maurice shouted.
"You all know its effect then! I equip my Gilford with Divine Sword, Great Sword, Jewel sword from my Graveyard!"
Gilford – ATK/2600 → 3500
"Next, I play my Wicked-Breaking Flamberge – Baou. I discard my single card and equip it to my Gilford, raising his power even more!"
Gilford – ATK/3500 → 4000
The sword that Gilford had grew and grew with each card played. It soon reached across the Arena. Chazz blinked...and started to laugh. Reginald's eyes grew at the laughter.
"Uh, did I break him?" Reginald asked dumbly.
"N-No! I...I just found it hilarious right now! Your monster...has a sword that is twenty feet long! S-s-s-s-so are you two overcompensating for something?" Chazz laughed out.
The question soon got the entire stands to burst out into laughter, both at the joke and at Reginald's rapidly reddening face and Gilford's pissed off expression.
"Laugh this off, wise-ass!"
Gilford's blade slashed through the XYZ monster, easily destroying it. Chazz's laughter was cut off.
Chazz: 6800
"Ouch, that's gonna leave a mark." Bonnie winced.
"Don't count Chazz out yet. You know he's got skills!" Syrus said, smirking.
"Syrus is right! And I'll prove it right now!" Chazz thundered, drawing.
He revealed it to be Pot of Greed, allowing him to draw two cards as well. He followed it up with Ojamadala.
By paying a thousand of his life points, he regained his Yellow, Black, and Green Ojamas.
Chazz: 5800
The Three reappeared with tears in their eyes. Chazz then revealed his second card, Ojama Delta Hurricane. With it, he destroyed all monsters on the field. A vortex of green, black, and yellow surrounded the warrior. Said warrior groaned, exploding into dust.
The three returned to Chazz's side, the boy smirking as he placed a card facedown.
"My strongest...beaten by a bunch of rejects!" Reginald said, drawing thanks to Jewel and then drawing again due to his own draw phase. "I play Premature Burial. I give up eight hundred points and bring out the card I discarded for my Wicked-Break! Armed Samurai Ben-Kai! Then I remove two warriors from my grave to regain my Divine Blade. Now I equip my Samurai with both Divine Blade AND my Lightning Blade!"
Ben-Kai – ATK/500 → 1600
"Uh oh. Not good." Jaden said, frowning.
Everyone looked at the King, the boy explaining that the Samurai gained an additional attack for each equip card he had. This meant four attacks; the original attack and the three added ones. That made the group around them gasp.
"Chazz only has three monsters!" Fiona shouted.
"Exactly! Now my Samurai, attack!"
The first monster to go was Ojama Yellow, the monster crying out. Then it was Green who was blasted away. Black followed soon after, yelling. Reginald's smile grew wider.
"Now attack that third rate duelist directly!"
Chazz grimaced, looking at his facedown. If he used it, he'd keep his life points, but lose an Ojama. He grimaced.
"No pain, no gain." The teen said, taking the attack.
Chazz: 4200
"Had enough yet?"
"Hardly! I use my facedown, Ojama Delta Wear!
(Ojama Delta Wear – Type/Trap/Normal
Special Summon "Ojama Yellow", "Ojama Green", and "Ojama Black" from your Graveyard that were destroyed by battle this turn.)
The three returned, teary eyed. Chazz then drew, revealing the card.
"Card of Sancity. Now, we both draw until we have a hand." Chazz said, drawing four cards while Reginald drew six.
"Why help me out?"
Chazz shook his head. He didn't do it to help Reginald. He did it to get the cards he needed. He revealed on was Polymerization, fusing the three Ojamas into Ojama King. Three spots on Reginald's duel disk became stamped with a big red X.
"But why attack mode?! He has no attack points." Reginald demanded, not seeing the Xs.
"For now. I play Ojama Country! This spell swaps all of our monster's original Attack and defense points!"
Ojama King – DEF → ATK/3000, ATK → DEF/0
Ben Kai – ATK → DEF/1600 → 500, DEF → ATK/800 → 1900
"What, no way!"
"Next, I summon my Soul Tiger in attack mode!"
Soul Tiger – ATK → DEF/0, DEF → ATK/2100
"Alright, Ojama King! Let him have it, Belly Flop Drop!"
The king jumped up high and fell down onto Ben Kai who yelled out. The explosion made Reginald slide back and his life points to drop.
Reginald: 4100
"Next up is my Soul Tiger. He'll attack you directly!"
The monster pounced, slashing it with its ghostly claws.
Reginald: 2000
"I'll set a card facedown and end."
"Rgh, I draw! And now I summon-"
"Nothing. I reveal my trap, Ojama Duo. You gain two Ojama tokens on your field."
(Ojama Duo – Type/Trap/Normal
Special Summon 2 "Ojama Tokens" (Beast/LIGHT/Level 2/ATK 0/DEF 1000) to your opponent's field in Defense Position. These Tokens cannot be Tributed for a Tribute Summon, and each time 1 is destroyed, its controller takes 300 damage. During either player's turn, except the turn this card was sent to the GY: You can banish this card from your GY; Special Summon 2 "Ojama" monsters with different names from your Deck.)
Red and Blue appeared in the two slots, Reginald's eyes wide. Chazz pointed out his Ojama King's effect, taking away three of Reginald's monster slots. Now with Duo in play, Reginald's field was full. The boy grit his teeth, tossing out a card while ending his turn. Chazz drew, revealing the card to be V-Tiger Jet.
V-Tiger Jet – ATK → DEF/1600, DEF → ATK/1800
"Alright. Time to end this farce! I have my Soul Tiger and my V-Tiger attack!"
The two monsters charged, destroying the two tokens. Reginald's life points dropped more, Chazz explaining how. The tokens dealt three hundred points of damage.
Reginald: 1400
"Oh no! I'm wide open!"
"Yep! Like I said before. Red, Yellow, or Blue, it doesn't matter the blazer. What matters is our skills! So welcome to Central DA, freshie! Ojama King, Belly Flop Drop!"
The monster laughed, jumping into the air. With a cry of 'Look out below!', it crashed down on Reginald.
Reginald: 0
"I...lost...to a white dweeb in undies." Reginald muttered in shock.
All Chazz did was smirk. Up in the stands, Edgar was growling, watching Chazz approach him.
"Hey, Snivley! Keep your promotion. I'm sticking with the Reds. After all...they need someone to keep sleazeballs like you at bay." Chazz said, making the man fall to the ground.
EODGX
After the duel and classes were done, Syrus was walking to head back to the Yellow dorm. As he walked by, he passed by Edgar's office.
"Make a fool of me will he? Turn down my generosity will he?! I'll make him and those slackers rue the day they messed with the Great Edgar Snivels! I'll tear down that Slifer Slacker dorm if its the last thing I ever do! Only Stars allowed at MY academy!"
Stopping dead, Syrus looked at the door in horror before taking off in a dead sprint.
EODGX
"He plans to do WHAT?!" came the voices of everyone.
"Plans to tear down the Slifer Red dorm. He wants to Central to only produce Stars and Pro duelists."
"Damn it, I'm glad I chose to remain here then." Chazz said, sitting down with a huff. "Now my words are gonna be even more true."
"Can't we go to Midori about this?" Mindy asked.
Miles shook his head. He stated that it was Syrus's word against Edgar's. Salome nodded.
"Miles is right. What's worse is that he's an instructor here, so his word carries weight."
"So does Jaden's, but again, it'll be their word against Edgar's." Alexis pointed out.
The only thing they could do was keep an eye on it.
As you all no doubt noticed, Bonaparte is not a main antagonist this time. I opted to make a certain conniving little dwarf take up that slot. Hope you all enjoyed!
