Hey all. So I messed up with my own continuity. Back in the Mirror Mirror, I said that the card Jaden got from Kaiba was Famine.

THIS IS NOT TRUE.

I meant for the card to be Pestilence. I wasn't paying too much attention to it until later on. So I apologize for the confusion this chapter will probably cause some people.

The morning from the night broke with only the birds chirping. Jaden had slept too well after the double blow and titjob on him, but now he was up. He was checking his deck, prepping for his duel with Famine. With War and Pestilence in his possession, the third Vile HERO was in his grasp. But that didn't mean he could get cocky. The SoL was trying something...he just didn't know what.

He heard the steps of Jasmine and Mindy, both wearing their uniforms thankfully. Mindy was looking at her PDA, smiling.

"Chazz texted me last night, telling us that the Yellow Dorm was abandoned. Sixty percent of the dorm is there."

"Good. It was getting a tad cramped around here." Jaden said absent-minded.

The pair looked at one another and then at their boyfriend.

"You need us to go with you?"

Jaden looked up, shaking his head. Famine was many things, but he was honorable. The ones that had him worried the most was the SoL. They had lost both VILE heroes and knew they existed. They'd try to take them by force.

"Which is bad for them. Those four are based on the Four Horsemen of the Book of Revelation. So they got a LOT of power behind them."

"Well, that means we can win this war right?"

"Possibly...but we can't rely on Jaden to save us. No offense, dear."

Jaden waved them off, stating that Jasmine was right. They couldn't rely on him to constantly to save them. He was human, NOT a god. That was why he had trained them so hard last year and this year when the SoL revealed itself. He wanted them to be ready for anything.

"Speaking of being ready, I need to get to where Famine is at." Jaden said, standing up.

The two girls gave a kiss on his lips, one right after the other. With a large smile, he walked out of the dorm.

EODGX

Jaden's walk through the forest was peaceful and quiet. The air wasn't oppressive like it had been prior to the trip. Jaden sighed, pulling out the two HEROes. So much trouble for just four cards. The Light Brigade was beaten and Professor Sweet was fine, though he did have to walk with a limp for a few days. A sudden explosion made the king snap up and pick up his pace. That was far too close to Famine.

As Jaden got closer, he heard an annoying voice speak.

"What is it going to take to make you join Master Sartorius!?" Ian shouted.

"Nothing you have, worm. You do not have my two brothers, so you cannot challenge me."

"Not gonna stop me from succeeding in my mission!" Ian roared, slapping a card on his Disk.

Famine just rolled their eyes, a swarm erupting from his armor and swirling around the monster. Ian hissed, covering his face. Famine crossed their arms, showing that they were not happy with Ian.

"Are you done embarrassing yourself?"

"Famine...have I come at a bad time?" Jaden asked, stepping out.

Both Ian and Famine turned to see Jaden, Ian deploying his disk upon seeing the King. Jaden did the same, the pair starting to duel. Famine quickly got out of the way, not wanting to get hit in the cross fire.

Jaden: 8000/Ian: 8000

"I'll start!" Ian shouted, drawing his card.

Checking over his hand, he revealed the card.

"I play Lyla, Lightsworn Priestess in attack mode!"

(Lyla, Lightsworn Priestess – LV/****, Attribute/LIGHT, ATK/1700, DEF/700, Type/Spellcaster/Effect.

You can target 1 Spell/Trap your opponent controls; this card's battle position cannot be changed until the end of your next turn, also change this card you control from face-up Attack Position to face-up Defense Position, and if you do, destroy that target. Once per turn, during your End Phase: Send the top 3 cards of your Deck to the GY.)

A woman holding a staff and wearing priest robes appeared, staring at Jaden. Ian set two cards facedown, ending his turn. Three cards went from his deck to the grave.

Ian: 54 → 51

Jaden drew his card, frowning. Ian was using a Lightsworn deck, meaning that he had more cards in his deck to offset the milling effects. He looked at his hand, nodding.

"I'll toss one monster in facedown defense mode. Next, I play the Dark Door, following that up with a facedown." Jaden said, ending.

Ian drew, looking at the card before adding it. He selected another monster, revealing it to the King.

"I play the tuner monster, Minerva Lightsworn Maiden!"

(Minvera, Lightsworn Maiden – LV/***, Attribute/LIGHT, ATK/800, DEF/200, Type/Spellcaster/Tuner.

When this card is Normal Summoned: You can add 1 LIGHT Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to your hand, whose Level is less than or equal to the total number of "Lightsworn" monsters with different names in your Graveyard. If this card is sent from the hand or Deck to the Graveyard: Send the top card of your Deck to the Graveyard. During each of your End Phases: Send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard.)

Minerva appeared, a young woman with an owl on her arm. She wore a white toga, smiling. Ian took a card from his deck, stating that with her effect, he could gain a LIGHT Dragon-Type. Jaden frowned; he needed to end this and FAST before that monster was summoned out!

"I next use Lyla's effect! By switching her to defense, I'll destroy your Dark Door."

The card blew up, Jaden scowling. But he wasn't too worried yet. Minerva became rings of green energy and Lyla became stars.

"I tune my level three Minerva to my level four Lyla! From this conjoining of the light, you are in for a fearsome sight! I synchro summon...Micheal the Arch-Lightsworn!"

(Micheal the Arch-Lightsworn – LV/*******, Attribute/LIGHT, ATK/2600, DEF/2000, Type/Dragon/Synchro/Effect.

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner LIGHT monsters
Once per turn: You can pay 1000 LP, then target 1 card on the field; banish that target. When this card is destroyed: You can target any number of other "Lightsworn" monsters in your Graveyard; shuffle them into the Deck, and if you do, you gain 300 LP for each returned card. Once per turn, during your End Phase: Send the top 3 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard.)

Micheal appeared, golden armor shining in the light. Metal wings unfurled, a sword of light in hand. From the sword came a white scaled dragon, roaring. Jaden frowned; this was going to be tricky...but he could pull it off if he timed everything right.

"I now use my Micheal's effect. I'll pay a thousand life points to remove a card from play...namely, your facedown monster."

"Shame my wall has something to say about that." Jaden chortled, revealing his facedown. "The facedown was the trap card Imperial Iron Wall."

Ian cursed. That trap prevented him from removing ANYTHING! He attacked the facedown monster, revealing it to be Wightprince. Jaden sent two cards from his deck to the grave. Ian ended his turn, sending another three cards to the Grave.

Ian: 7000

Ian: 50 → 47

Ian's grave glowed and a monster appeared next to Micheal. The monster in question was a upright wolf.

"Meet Wulf, Lightsworn Beast!"

(Wulf, Lightsworn Beast – LV/****, Attribute/LIGHT, ATK/2100, DEF/300, Type/Beast-Warrior/Effect.

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned by a card effect. If this card is sent from your Deck to the GY: Special Summon it.)

"Tch, great...got THAT to deal with." Jaden mumbled drawing his card.

Looking at it, he smirked suddenly, making Ian go on edge.

"I play that Grass Looks Drier!"

(That Grass Looks Drier – Type/Spell/Normal.

Pay life points in multiples of 1000. Send cards from your opponent's deck to the grave equal to the number of life points given up divided by 100.)

"I pay two thousand of my life points."

Jaden: 6000

"What does that do?!" Ian demanded.

"Now, I divide the number of LP I just gave up by one hundred and you lose that many cards from your deck. I gave up two thousand so you lost twenty cards from your deck." Jaden explained.

Ian: 47 → 27

Ian sneered, placing nearly half of his deck into the grave. Jaden revealed his next spell card, one Ian remembered.

"That Grass Looks Greener?!"

"That's right." Jaden said, discarding half of his deck.

Jaden: 49 → 27

"Next, I play King of the Skull Servants."

KotSS – ATK/? → 9000

"Next, I play Megamorph and equip it to my King!" Jaden snarled, the monster getting buff.

KotSS – ATK/9000 x 2 → 18,000

Ian hissed. If that card attacked, he'd lose! He decided that he needed to get this intel back to his Master. Pressing a hidden button on his disk, several smoke bombs dropped out and landed.

Jaden cursed, seeing the smoke obscure his vision. Ian took that moment to flee, leaving the pair behind. Once the smoke finally cleared, Jaden looked to see that Ian was no where. Cursing, he turned to look at Famine, presenting Pestilence and War. The Armored warrior looked at the cards, nodded, transformed into a card himself. The card flew into Jaden's hand, the boy frowning.

"Weren't you suppose to duel me to see if I could handle War's and Pestilence's power?"

"Normally, yes. But as you saw, the SoL are desperately trying to gain myself and Death, rites be damned. Death has retreated further into the earth, it will take some time to get him to come out."

"I see. So what now?"

"Relax. But be ready."

Jaden nodded, pocketing Famine's card and turned around back to the Red Dorm. He had three...but now how desperate was the SoL going to be to obtain Death?

Bit of a short chapter and a duel unfinished. I wanted Ian to be a coward and escape this time. Next chapter though...well, shit gets real.
