Hey all. I hope this chapter makes up for my lackluster writing in the last one. The secret The D kept hidden for ten years is about to be revealed. Enjoy!

Alexis had sobbed herself silly after the duel with her boyfriend. She recalled everything that had happened in the SoL. Aster's advances, the looks of pain Jaden gained each time she and him kissed, her words. Everything came crashing down for her. She clung to Jaden like he was a life-line and in a way, he was. Jaden just calmly rubbed her back in circles, leading her away from the field.

The pair walked back, Alexis having thrown off her disk in disgust when she saw the cards. The SoL cards, not her own. The pair walked in silence for minutes before she grabbed Jaden, spun him around and planted her lips on his.

She pushed him down, both landing in a bush. She didn't let up on her kiss, her tongue entering his opened mouth. All Jaden did was wrap his arms around her, keeping them above her skirt.

Needless to say, neither of them would get back in time to watch Syrus, Chazz, or Bastion's duels.

EODGX

The King and Queen of CDA walked into the arena, hair a little ruffled. They were met with cheers from the EoD, looks of scorn by the SoL. The pair were met by Jasmine and Mindy, both hugging Alexis, tears in their eyes. She in turn hugged them back.

Around this time, Chazz, Bastion, and Syrus walked in, dirty, but smiling. The three had won their duels; Syrus had dueled Grimsly, Chazz Claire, and Bastion Ronald. The duels had been tough and in Syrus case, real close, but they came through. The three sent mock glares at Jaden.

"You missed our duels." Chazz accused.

"...Lex needed comfort. And no, not that kind, despite our appearance." Jaden retorted.

The three boys nodded, understanding. They all took their seats, Sheppard announcing the next duelists. Everyone was excited.

The duels were the following:

Professor Jason Sweet VS The D.

Axel Brodie VS Adrian Gecko

Jessie Anderson VS Lorenzo

Finally, Jim Cook VS James Blood.

The eight got up, looking at one another. The D shot a smirk at Jason who just crossed his arms. Everyone wondered about the pair. Why did they look like they knew one another? Pegasus was smiling up a storm. It was history being both made and repeated.

The eight were given their locations.

The D and Jason would duel at the base of the volcano. Adrian and Axel near the southwest cliff. Jessie and Claire, near the power station. Jim and James would be near the Ra Yellow Dorm. They all nodded, heading to their locations.

EODGX

Jason Sweet was in a cave several meters from his duel, staring at his deck. It had been a long time since he had dusted it off. One year ago was when he finally did to help save the world. Now here he was again...about to face his first challenge from his years on the pro circuit. Picking the deck up, the man closed his eyes, kneeling down.

"It's been a while since I last spoke with you..." Jason whispered. "The last time being my parents funeral. I feel that I ignored you...or have you steered me to be in the right place at the right time?"

The man chuckled, a sad sound in his throat.

"I guess you would know...but I didn't come to dig up the past. There will be plenty of time for that later. I came here to ask for your help...for your peace and inner strength in my upcoming trial. The D...he has changed. He's not the same as he was when we both started out. Given what we face...I have a feeling he is part of the SoL. I fear for not just my sanity, but his."

Here, the professor took a deep and shuddering breath.

"You alone know the enemy we face is nothing like your sworn enemy...but dangerous all the same. I ask for your protection, not just on me, but all taking part in this. In your blessed son's name...Amen."

Jason stood up, wiping away the pricks of tears that threatened to fall. He always, always got emotional when he did this. Granted, the last time he did it was back on the pro circuit before his mother and father passed on. After that, he stopped...just aimless. He arrived, just in time to see the D with the Ref. Seeing this, the Ref quickly took his spot.

"Alright, you two know the drill. Ready?"

The pair shuffled their decks, handed them to one another, shuffled again, and returned them. They walked away until they were standard distance for a duel. Jason slotted his deck in, disk lighting up. The D did the same, that cocky smirk on his face.

"Isn't this like old times, Hellfire?" The D said, slotting his deck in.

"It would be...save for you. You're different now, Terrance." Jason commented, readying himself.

"I have had good fortune in recent years...now you will get to see such good fortune."

"DUEL!"

The D: 8000/Jason: 8000

The pair drew their opening hands, Jason looking his hand over. In his hand was Red-Eyes Baby Dragon, Wyvern, Red-Rebirth, Fusion, and finally, Pot of Greed.

He looked at the D.

"Ladies first."

"Funny, was about to say the same thing for you. But thank you all the same." The D said, drawing a card.

The D looked over his hand. He saw that he had Enigma the Creator, two spell cards, and three trap cards. He chose one of the spell cards first.

"I play Different Dimension Capsule, placing this card inside. Next, I play two cards facedown and then play Enigma the Creator in defense mode." The D stated.

(Enigma the Creator – LV/****, Attribute/DARK, ATK/1200, DEF/1200, Type/Warrior/Effect.

When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, Special Summon 1 "Enigma Token" (?-Type/DARK/Level 4/ATK 1200/DEF 1200).)

Enigma was a humanoid monster cloaked in a white cloak and gold armor. His left arm was covered in wrappings and large, his right thin and carrying a bracelet. He knelt down The D ended his turn, Jason drawing.

He wanted to take out the D.D.C., but had a feeling if he did that, it would be Card from a Different Dimension. Instead, Jason focused on the facedown. He drew his card, seeing it was Black Stone.

He checked over his hand, seeing Stamping Destruction, De-Fusion, Red-Eyes Fusion, Inferno Fire Blast, and Super Rejuvenation.

"Alright, I start with Black Stone of Legend. Next, I use Stamping Destruction to take out that facedown of yours."

A Dragon's claw shot out of the card, smashing into the facedown. The D grimaced, feeling his counter drop.

The D: 7500

"Next, I use my Black Stone's effect. I tribute it to summon out Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"

The signature monster of both Joey Wheeler and Jason Sweet appeared, roaring. An aura sprang up, given their location.

Red-Eyes B. Dragon – ATK/3120, DEF/2750

The D frowned, bracing himself. Jason didn't attack, opting to play both Inferno and Super Rejuvenation.

The D: 5100

Jason ended his turn, drawing a single card. The D drew, looking at his hand. He needed to stall. Thankfully, the card he had drawn would do that.

"I play Swords of Revealing Light."

Three swords dropped down around Jason, making him wince at the sudden light. Now he was stuck for three turns. He watched the D end, frowning. Jason drew his card, looking at it. He shook his head. Now was not the time for this monster. Instead, he placed the card he got from Super Rejuvenation.

"I play Dragon's Hoard. If I control a Dragon-Type, I can draw cards equal to its Star Level."

(Dragon's Horde – Type/Spell/Normal. You can only activate this card if you control exactly 1 Dragon-Type monster. Draw cards equal to its Star Level.)

Jason drew the seven cards, knowing it was overkill. But what he needed to do, it was kinda needed. He played Red-Eyes Fusion, sending the second Black Dragon in his hand with the Meteor Dragon in his hand. What descended was Meteor Black Dragon, shocking everyone.

Meteor Black Dragon (Red Eyes B. Dragon) – ATK/4550, DEF/3050

Jason didn't let up. He played his second Inferno Fire Blast Spell. Meteor launched its attack at the man, making said man cover his face.

The D: 1600

"I'll set these two cards facedown, switch Black Dragon to defense, and end." Jason stated, everyone cheering.

The D drew...but Jason felt a chill go down his spine. The air became nasty and heavy. That card...that card felt like the Sacred Beasts in Kagemaru's hands. Wrong.

The D underwent a transformation before everyone. His hair got spikier, a mad maniacal gleam in his eyes. An aura of white sprang up around him, same with the card.

"My capsule gives me the card I need for my victory. But first, I play my facedown card, Clarinet Note."

(Clarinet Note – Type/Spell/Normal.

Activate by selecting a face-up monster your opponent controls. For every 4 Levels of the selected monster, you can Special Summon 1 "Plasma Token" (Warrior-Type/DARK/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0).)

"I choose your Meteor Dragon."

Everyone winced. Meteor Black Dragon was a powerful with eight stars. Two red humanoid monsters appeared next to The D. He giggled insanely. The three monsters sank into a pool of blood.

The blood erupted like a geyser, showering the area in red. Both dragons shuddered, even Jason was tense and scared. From the geyser was a monster that could end all monsters.

"Meet The Ultimate Destiny card! Destiny HERO – PLASMA!"

(Destiny HERO – Plasma – LV/********, Attribute/DARK, ATK/1900, DEF/600, Type/Warrior/Effect.

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by Tributing 3 monsters you control. Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can select 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field and equip it to this card. (Only 1 card at a time can be equipped due to this effect.) This card gains ATK equal to half the equipped card's original ATK and gains any effects the equipped monster may have. While "D - Force" is face-up on top of your Deck, this card is unaffected by the effect(s) of your opponent's Spell or Trap Cards, and the effects of all face-up Effect Monsters your opponent controls are negated.)

Plasma was a winged man of a monster. He had three claws above him, wings that were over seven feet in length, and a jaw for a left hand. His armor was spiked and leather. Jason frowned, seeing it. The aura from before got even bigger. The D gained crimson eyes as he began to laugh.

EODGX

Pegasus shot up in his seat when he saw the card, his eyes wide.

"Plasma?! Its...no! That means the D-!"

"Pegasus? What's wrong?" Seto demanded.

Pegasus explained. Ten years ago, Aster's father, Marcus died when a robbery went wrong. There were two things that was missing.

A pair of duel monsters card. One spell and a monster card that belonged to the Destiny HERO line. Seto's eyes went wide. Plasma. But if The D had Plasma...

"That means..." Jaden said, alarmed.

"The D...killed Aster's father." Alexis stated, shocked.

EODGX

Professor Sweet stared at the new monster, fear coursing through his veins like ice. The D was cackling like a mad man.

"With Plasma's power, I cannot be beat! I play the spell card, D-Force! By giving up my ability to draw, I make Plasma the most powerful monster in all of the game!"

(D-Force – Type/Spell/Normal.

Place this card face-up on top of your Deck. While this card is face-up at the top of your Deck, you cannot draw a card(s) during your Draw Phase.)

The D placed the card on his deck, an aura appearing around Plasma. Then the D used its effect to absorb Meteor Black. Jason was faster, using De-Fusion to make his second Red-Eyes and Meteor dragon appear, both in defense. Plasma reached out and ensnared his second Red-Eyes with blood soaked tendrils from the wings.

Everyone watched in horror as Plasma absorbed the dragon, its face being seen against the skin. Jason himself was quaking, both in fear and rage.

Plasma – ATK/1900 → 3100

"Now, Plasma, attack his first Red-Eyes!"

The monster obeyed, grabbing the Dragon with its large claw. The monster torn apart, Jason watching with a scowl. He watched the D end his turn with a facedown. Drawing, Jason looked over his hand. That monster was too strong for him to take on in a direct battle. Maybe a card effect? He knew that its Defense was weaker so he could use that. Looking at the card, he nodded.

"I play Dragon's gunfire, using its second effect to destroy your Plasma!"

From Meteor Dragon, a gout of fire came out. The Hero easily batted it away, the D laughing at the confused expression Jason wore.

"So long as D-Force is on top of my deck, it cannot be destroyed by Spell or Trap effects. Monster effects are also negated."

"Great." Jason said sarcastically, setting his Chick in facedown defense mode and ending.

Due to the Spell, the D couldn't draw, but he did order an attack. Meteor dragon was ripped to shreds, but Jason just stood firm. He could figure out a way to win.

EODGX

"What?! So as long as that card is on the D's deck that monster can't be harmed by Spells or Traps?!" Crowler cried out, shocked.

"Not to mention the effect negation." Satyr said grimly.

The arena had been abuzz when the plays had been made. When Plasma made its appearance, every one of the SoL cheered. Jaden saw why. That card was the original home to the Light of Ruin. Sartorius himself was smug.

They would see soon that none could oppose the Light. With Jason's demise, the EoD would lose all that confidence they had gained. He chuckled.

"Go my old host. Show this fool what happens to those who defy the Light."

EODGX

Jason watched as the D activated the facedown card he had played.

"Behold my D-Boost!"

(D-Boost – Type/Trap/Normal.

Activate only while "D - Force" is face-up on top of your Deck. Draw 2 cards from underneath "D – Force".)

The D drew two cards under the spell. Seeing one, he played it right away.

"I play Plasma Slice!"

(Plasma Slice – Type/Spell/Continuous.

Activate only if you control "Destiny HERO – Plasma". "Destiny HERO – Plasma" attacks a defense position monster, inflict pierce damage.)

The D smirked, ordering at attack on the facedown. Jason covered his face, the slices from Plasma's wings cutting through his chick.

Jason: 5300

The D ended with another facedown. Jason drew, frowning hard. He looked at the card. Gravekeeper's servant. He frowned. This was useful, but with D-Force in play, it was no good for now. He added it to his hand, setting another monster, Gearfried the Red-Eyes Iron Knight, in facedown defense mode, ending his turn.

The D once more activated his second D-Force, drawing another two cards. He revealed one to be Drain Time.

(Drain Time – Type/Spell/Normal.

Activate only if you control a face-up "Destiny Hero - Plasma". Choose 1 of these phases: Draw Phase, Standby Phase, Main Phase 1, Battle Phase, Main Phase 2, or End Phase. Both players must skip their next phase of that choice.)

"I choose our Draw Phase." The D said, smug.

Jason grimaced, but didn't panic. Panic would only lead to a swift defeat. The D attacked again, Gearfreid being cut to ribbons.

Jason: 3600

"Not done yet! I play my Time Goddess card. Now, I attack your Meteor Dragon!"

Jason hissed, covering his face once more.

Jason: 2500

"I'll end my turn with this facedown. Soon, you will just be another face in Plasma's power."

Jason was confused. What had the D meant by that? The D chuckled, nodding. Suddenly, they saw the skin on Plasma's move. Only Jason saw what it was and it both sickened and horrified him.

Faces. Countless faces stared back, all screaming in agony.

"PLEASE! HELP!"

"FREE US!"

"OH GOD STOP HIM!"

On and on, the faces pleaded with Jason. The man stared, unable to comprehend the evil before him. He grit his teeth.

"How many?"

The D laughed.

"I lost count after I hit one hundred thousand. You should have heard all of their screams...maybe I should absorb that bitch you're now seeing. Or maybe your students and friends. Their screams would be sweet indeed."

Jason's eyes flashed with anger. How dare this demon before him even think of harming those who considered family and friends! The D roared with laughter, ending his turn. Jason's turn started. He couldn't draw, due to Drain Time, but he was not out of tricks. He revealed Pot of Greed, drawing two cards. Looking at one, his eyes went wide.

"First shall be last..." Jason mumbled, looking the card over. He checked the other card, seeing it was Graceful Charity.

Playing it, he drew three more cards, throwing out Spirit Ryu and Paladin of Black Dragon. Looking over the three, he nodded.

"I first play Savage Coliseum."

Around the pair, a coliseum rose up. The D smirked, wondering what the man was playing at. Jason then played Gravekeeper's servant. The D laughed. Jason had lost his mind! But the man wasn't done yet.

"I set this card facedown and then play First Shall be last!"

(First Shall be Last – Type/Spell/Normal.

Select the First Monster card your opponent played. Summon it in Attack Mode. That monster cannot change the position it was summoned in except by card effect. It must declare an attack first before any other monster.)

Enigma the Creator rose up, shocking the D. Jason smirked setting a card facedown in defense and ending.

"What a futile gesture! Plasma, attack his facedown and end this!"

Plasma moved to slash with its wings, but soon found it couldn't. The D was confused. Why wasn't Plasma attacking!? Jason piped up.

"My spell card, First Shall be last. You have to attack with Enigma first before attacking with Plasma."

"What?!"

Jason nodded. Spells and traps couldn't affect Plasma but Jason had a work around for that. Another monster, one not protected by D-Force.

EODGX

Everyone didn't see the others return nor them taking their seats. When asked how the duel was going, Jessie, Axel, Jim, and Adrian got the run-down. They all returned their attention to the moves Professor Sweet had just played.

Jaden began to laugh suddenly, making everyone look at him.

"He's got the D trapped and the D doesn't realize it!"

"How so?" Alexis asked.

So Jaden explained. With Enigma being the monster who attacks first, it wasn't protected by D-Force like Plasma was. If Plasma attacked first, it would get around Servant's effect. But Enigma was no such beast. With Gravekeeper's in play...

Everyone on the EoD got it.

"D-Force is gone!"

Pegasus pointed out something else. Jason had played Savage Coliseum, a field spell that forced the players to do battle if the monsters in question weren't in defense mode. Thanks to First, Enigma couldn't switch unless it was done by a card effect.

EODGX

The D was furious. Thanks to that field and spell, he was about to lose his only protection. Glumly, he had Enigma attack the facedown. It was another baby dragon, but thanks to Plasma, the effect was negated. D-Force fell into the graveyard, the man scowling. He needed to get it back! Seeing the facedown, The D quickly look over his hand. To his dismay, he had no other cards to play, thus he had no choice but to end his turn.

Jason drew his card, seeing it was Card of Sanctity. Playing it, the pair drew until they had a full hand. Looking over his cards, Jason nodded. Without D-Force in play, Plasma was weak and he was gonna capitalize that in a big way.

The D cocked his head. Why was he hearing 'Break the Chains' on the air?

"I play Swing of Memories to bring back my Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"

The mighty dragon rose up, roaring its signature roar. The D scowled, wondering what was next. What he got was Red-Eyes vanishing, only to be replaced by a metal and crystal encrusted dragon.

"Darkness Dragon, rise! But I'm not stopping there. I reveal my trap, Metal Plus! Let's go, Hellfire!"

Everyone cheered at seeing the familiar dragon. Bastion quickly did some mental math.

Stone of Legends, Black Dragon, Meteor Dragon, Black chick, Black Dragon number 2, Spirit Ryu, Baby Dragon, and Paladin of Black Dragon. That was eight Dragons in the grave.

Darkness Metal – ATK/2800 → 3640 → 6840

"Now, I use my Darkness Metal's power...rise up...Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"

The Original Dragon appeared, roaring. Darkness Metal lost some power, but Jason wasn't done. He revealed Polymerization, fusing the newly revived Red-Eyes with another Red-Eyes. That threw everyone for a loop. They weren't aware of a fusion of just those two. From the vortex came a new monster. It was a Red-Eyes, but it had two heads with two tails. Its wings unfurled, roaring.

Darkness Metal – ATK/6440 → 7240

"Meet Red-Eyes Twin Darkness Dragon!"

(Red-Eyes Twin Darkness Dragon – LV/**********, Attribute/DARK, ATK/3000 → 3900, DEF/2500 → 3250, Type/Dragon/Fusion/Effect.

"Red-Eyes B. Dragon" + "Red-Eyes B. Dragon"

Must be Fusion Summoned or Special Summoned by sending the above monsters you control to the GY. Cannot be destroyed by card effects. This card can make up to 2 attacks on monsters during each Battle Phase. When this card destroys a monster in battle, add 1 "Red-Eyes" Monster, Spell, or Trap to your hand.)

"Why summon that monster, boy?!"

Jason didn't answer, just ordering an attack. Twin Darkness easily cut down Plasma, the Red-Eyes equipped to him destroyed. The D covered his face, eyes wide in worry.

Plasma – ATK/3100 → 1900

The D: 1300

Plasma had survived as Jason thought. But that was okay. He wanted to do this with Hellfire anyways.

"If you attack, you will kill them all, Jason! Can you live with that for the rest of your life?!" The D shouted, scared.

Jason looked at the souls trapped inside Plasma before looking at the D.

"No...I couldn't."

The D smirked, triumphant. But that triumph turned to horror when he saw Hellfire rising up, an orb of molten fire in its maw. Jason looked at The D, hair swaying as the music grew in intensity. His brown eyes were hard as stone, The D stepping back.

"But I also couldn't live with myself if I let you get away scot-free, Demon from the darkest pits of Hell. So to end your reign...I will, this once, become the monster I always feared."

Jason's eyes became blazing infernos, a gray Duel Aura springing up. The wind whipped up in a fury, the earth breaking and shaking. The D released his own Duel Aura, the White aura of the Light of Ruin emerging. The two powers clashed, causing the earth around them to crack and splinter. Pillars of fire shot out of the base, many in the arena screaming in shock.

Jason ignored it all, his sole gaze on the demon before him. The lives he had ruined...all for what? Power? Well, it was time to show the D what true power was. It wasn't from a singular source.

No.

True power, REAL power, came from the bonds one made. Jason thought back to all of his family and friends, the students whose lives he had touched and in turn, touched his. From his days as a pro to the days of him teaching. All the memories swirled in his mind, amplifying his resolve.

"LET'S DO THIS, HELLFIRE!" The Hellfire duelist roared.

Hellfire roared, the gray aura erupting around its body. Plasma rose to attack the Dragon head-on. Its mouth claw latched on, trying to squeeze Hellfire. But the dragon ignored it, raising its head. The orb of fire crashed into Plasma's face, taking off its head. The body fell limp, falling to the ground, the souls trapped within now freed. The D roared, seeing his best monster fall and the oncoming wall of fire.

"See you in Hell, Terrance." Jason said coldly.

The blast consumed the D, making him roar in agony. The explosion made the D-Hero fly off the disk and into the air. Jason grabbed the card, looking down at it. Instantly, he felt relief and trepidation from the card. Jason sighed, pocketing the card. Hellfire screeched its screech, making Jason smile.

In the arena, everyone cheered at the victory their professor had gained. Sartorius was furious! The original host had been destroyed! What was worse was that Plasma was lost to them! He had hoped the card would find its way to Aster, but now it was in the hands of the EoD!

"Excellent dueling from our first sixteen duelists! The final two groups of eight will duel tomorrow at eight am sharp!"

At this announcement, Sartorius and the rest of the SoL stood up, anger stewing. The first round of duels was done. The winners were Jaden, Chazz, Syrus, Bastion, Jason, Jessie, Adrian, and Jim. He had lost, Alexis, Ronald, The D, several others, and Plasma.

"I have only one order to you remaining in this," he hissed. "Win."

"Yes master." Everyone intoned.

This war was far from over.
