Hey all. Happy 2023. Sorry for taking a bit longer then normal on the chapter. Life, its sting hits hard...and a couple of friends of mine got me addicted to ARK: Survival Evolved or as I call it, Minecraft on Steroids...seriously, if you ever played that game, you know what I mean.
Anywoo, enjoy!
After the fiasco with Zane was completed and everyone returned to the main arena, the duels were back on. The morning gave way to the afternoon filled with exciting duels.
Jim bested Adrian, though it was a VERY close match between the pair.
Amelia won against Jerome, which was a shock to everyone. Both at the win and at her new deck.
She walked away, telling Jerome that his faith in the Light must have been weak. Jerome seemed to come out from his mind state, frowning.
Jessie won against Ian, making the boy wonder why the Light had abandoned him at the crucial point in time. He was escorted off the Arena, screaming and begging for the Light to come back.
Bastion lost to Reggie, overwhelmed by her strategies and power. She gave a wink to Jaden who just ignored it.
Now it was time for the next duel.
Chazz against Sartorius.
EODGX
Chazz sat in the locker room, looking at his deck, a frown marring his face. The Ojamas all gathered around him, frowning too.
"Do you think we have a chance to win against him, guys?" Chazz asked out of the blue.
The five brothers looked at one another.
"Truth is, Sir Chazz...we don't think we have that much of a chance." Blue answered honestly. "THIS is the Light of Ruin...a being that laid waste to the Spirit World and Neo Space, Aeons ago. Even for just a host...its power is vast."
"But...we do have a chance to at least let him know we're not going down without one hell of a fight!" Yellow piped up, his two brothers nodding.
"YEAH! Let's show this so called 'MASTER' what we think of fate and destiny! That there is no fate, but what we make in our lives! No matter the odds, no matter the struggle, we prevail!" Black roared.
Emboldened by their talk, Chazz gave a laughing scoff. They were right. They would lose against that guy, no doubt, but they were not going to just lie down and take it. They were gonna prove they had fight in them!
Grasping his deck tightly, Chazz stood up, the five following him.
"Now let's-!" Green began.
"CHAZZ IT UP!" The five brothers roared, making Chazz start.
Smirking, he nodded.
Time to duel!
EODGX
Sartorius stood in the Red corner of the arena, his duel disk on his arm. He had been tempted, oh so tempted to use the deck Dmitri had given him. But no. Now was not the time for that deck to be used.
He foresaw the power would be needed to best the Supreme King. So for now, the deck would be hidden still. He looked up to see Chazz Princeton step out. Sartorius mused to himself.
He had foreseen that Chazz would be the one to bear the power of the Light here at central. He would have been down on his luck, forever in the shadow of a supposedly blissful Jaden.
But...that fate had been altered considerably.
Now the boy was confident, humble, and a good friend with the King, even respecting him to a grand degree. Chazz smirked, stepping onto the arena. The ref stood up.
"Duelists, present your decks to be shuffled!"
The pair strode across the arena, Chazz handing his deck to the man, the man doing the same. They both shuffled the decks and handed them back. Chazz scowled at Sartorius who had just given a smirk.
"Fate has decreed me the victor, young Princeton." Sartorius said, slotting his deck.
"Yeah? And you know what it decreed for me?"
At the shake of his head, Chazz gave a smirk.
"To give you one hell of a fucking fight!"
The conviction in his voice made Sartorius start a little. The two headed back to the corners, but everyone of the EoD could see that Sartorius was shaking a little. The SoL, what remained of it, was incensed at what Chazz had said to their master.
Both disks were deployed.
"Red Corner, are you ready?"
"Ready!" Chazz barked.
"Blue corner?"
Sartorius merely nodded.
"DUEL!" The trio cried.
Sartorius: 8000/Chazz: 8000
They drew their opening hand, Chazz looking at Sartorius.
"You may begin, Mister Princeton."
Chazz drew his card, looking over his hand. He didn't grimace physically, but mentally he did. The opening hand he had was not too good. He had Armed Dragon Levels five and seven, but no other monsters. The rest of his hand were spell and trap cards.
"I'll set a card facedown and end my turn." Chazz said, standing tall.
He could have played the Pot of Greed card he had, but wanted to save that. Besides...the card he placed were a bluff. But it would help him when it was his turn again.
Sartorius drew his card, looking over his hand. He smirked. He had the spell card he needed.
"I play Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen."
(Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen – Type/Spell/Continuous.
Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 Fairy monster from your hand. You must control no monsters to activate and to resolve this effect.)
"Oh that is not good." Chazz muttered.
"I now use its effect to summon forth...Arcana Force Twelve – The Hanged Man in attack mode!"
(Arcana Force XII – The Hanged Man – LV/******, Attribute/LIGHT, ATK/2200, DEF/2200, Type/Fairy/Effect.
When this card is Summoned, a hologram of this card will appear. Have your opponent shout 'STOP'. Depending on the position will determine this card's effect:
● Right Side Up: Once per turn, destroy 1 monster you control and inflict damage to your Life Points equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster.
● Upside Down: Once per turn, destroy 1 monster your opponent controls and inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster.)
The monster that appeared was like a giant green chrysalis. It hung on a tree by a single strand.
Chazz saw the card appear over the monster and grimaced. Thanks to Jaden, he knew all about these tarot based duel monster cards. If that monster landed upside down, he'd be in trouble.
"Stop." He firmly said.
The card slowed...until it was upside down. Sartorius smirked, selecting another card.
"I will summon Arcana Force Four – The Emperor."
(Arcana Force IV – LV/****, Attribute/LIGHT, ATK/1400, DEF/1400, Type/Fairy/Effect.
When this card is Summoned, a hologram of this card will appear. Have your opponent shout 'STOP'. Depending on the position will determine this card's effect:
● Right Side Up: All "Arcana Force" monsters you control gain 500 ATK.
● Upside Down: All "Arcana Force" monsters you control lose 500 ATK. .)
The monster that appeared was a robot with four arms. Its eyes glowed red as the card appeared over it and Chazz thundered out stop.
The card landed right side up, making the EoD groan.
Emperor – ATK/1400 + 500 → 1900
Hangman – ATK/2200 + 500 → 2700
"Attack." was the simple command given to Emperor. A laser beam struck the boy in the chest.
Chazz: 5100
The hangman struck next, Chazz hissing in pain.
Chazz: 2400
Sartorius ended his turn with a facedown card.
Chazz drew his card, frowning.
Okay, so what do I got here? Chazz thought, looking over his hand.
He saw that he had Ojama Blue and played it in defense mode. Following that, he activated The Dark Door he had placed facedown and ended his turn.
Sartorius drew, but didn't play anything. He attacked with the Hangman which destroyed Blue and ended his turn.
Thanks to Blue, he had gotten Red and Black. He looked over his spells and saw that he had three. Ojama Country, Fusion Sage, and Pot of Greed. He nodded. While Hangman was still a big threat, Emperor was the bigger one. He revealed Fusion Sage, gaining Polymerization.
"I bring forth a Knight of the Realm! Rise up, Ojama Knight!"
(Ojama Knight – LV/*****, Attribute/LIGHT, ATK/0, DEF/2500, Type/Beast/Fusion/Effect.
2 "Ojama" monsters
Choose up to 2 of your opponent's unused Monster Zones. Those zones cannot be used.)
Ojama Yellow in armor appeared, the other two Ojamas appearing on Sartorius's side. Everyone of the SoL laughed, thinking Chazz had lost his head. Until he revealed Ojama Country.
Knight – DEF/2500 → ATK/2500, ATK/0 → DEF/0
Emperor – ATK/1900 → DEF/1400, DEF/1400 → ATK/1900
Hangman – ATK/2700 → DEF/2200, DEF/2200 → ATK/2700
"All that and the only monster you changed was your own."
"Yeah, but that was what I wanted. Knight, slay that Emperor!"
Sartorius watched the monster slash his own, causing it to blow apart.
Sartorius: 7400
Hangman – ATK/2700 → 2200
"Alright...I use Pot of Greed to draw two cards."
Chazz drew the two and saw that one of them was De-Fusion. Reminding himself of Hangman's effect, he looked at the other card. A draining shield trap. He placed both cards facedown and ended his turn.
Sartorius drew his card, looking at it. He saw it was the Lovers.
"I play Arcana Force Six – The Lovers!"
(Arcana Force VI – The Lovers – LV/****, Attribute/LIGHT, ATK/1600, DEF/1600, Type/Fairy/Effect.
When this card is Summoned, a hologram of this card will appear. Have your opponent shout 'STOP'. Depending on the position will determine this card's effect:
● Right Side Up: This card can be treated as 2 tributes for the summoning of an 'Arcana Force' monster.
● Upside Down: You cannot tribute Summon 'Arcana Force' monsters.)
The lovers monster was a large grey alien like monster with large rubies for eyes. It seemed to say something, but Chazz didn't understand it at all. What he did understand was the card above it.
A shout of stop had it land right side up. Sartorius then activated the effect of his Hangman, trying to take out Ojama Knight. But Chazz was faster.
"I reveal De-Fusion, splitting my Ojama Knight back into Red and Black!"
The two appeared, both in attack mode. Sartorius chose Black, destroying him.
Chazz: 1400
"Hangman...attack."
Chazz smirked.
"I activate my trap! Draining shield!"
Hangman struck a shield that covered Red.
Chazz: 3600
"I will end my turn. You only delay the inevitable fate you have, Chazz."
"Let me tell you what my fate is! Yeah...I will lose to you." Chazz admited, making everyone shocked even the Psychic.
Chazz had no illusions of winning against him. It was Jaden's destiny to best the Light of Ruin, not him. He had no aspirations to even entertain the idea that he could best the ancient foe. But there was one thing he could do.
"I will lose...but as I said at the start, I will go down swinging you cosmic parasite!" Chazz thundered, drawing his card.
Looking over his hand, Chazz chose his Level Five. He sacrificed Red who simply gave him a thumbs up. The spiked dragon rose up, roaring. Chazz smirked.
"Armed Dragon! Attack Hangman!"
The dragon's arms spun around slamming into the tiny monster. Sartorius grunted a bit.
Sartorius: 7200
EODGX
"I don't understand." Salome said, watching the duel. "Why not take out the Lovers and deal more damage?"
Everyone looked at her confused as to why she was asking. Then they were reminded that she was part of the SoL at the time Jaden had taught them about the Arcana Force series.
"While Chazz would have dealt more damage, Hangman is a threat. Each time Sartorius gets his turn, he can destroy a monster and inflict damage to Chazz without attacking." Mindy pointed out.
Salome thought it over some. When she reached that conclusion, she gasped then nodded. Now she got it. The Hangman was a dangerous monster to leave alone. Jaden confirmed it, knowing the power the monster had with its upside effect. They turned back to the duel watching.
EODGX
Chazz changed out his Level five for his Level Seven. He placed a card facedown, ending. Sartorius drew his card, looking at it. He revealed it to be Cup of Ace.
(Cup of Ace – Type/Spell/Normal
When this card is played, a hologram of this card will appear. Have your opponent shout 'STOP'. Depending on the position will determine this card's effect:
● Right Side Up: Draw 2 cards.
● Upside Down: Your opponent draws 2 cards.)
Shouting stop had the card land right side up, allowing Sartorius to draw two cards. He then tributed the Lovers to bring out-
"Arcana Force Fourteen – The Fiend in attack mode!"
(Arcana Force XV – The Fiend – LV/*******, Attribute/LIGHT, ATK/2500, DEF/2500, Type/Fairy/Effect.
When this card is Summoned, a hologram of this card will appear. Have your opponent shout 'STOP'. Depending on the position will determine this card's effect:
● Right Side Up: When this card attacks, select and destroy 1 monster on the field. Then, inflict 500 damage to the controller of the destroyed monster. If that monster is not destroyed, destroy this card.
● Upside Down: When this card attacks, destroy all monsters on the field.)
Chazz grimaced at the sight of a tall, lanky black and red monster with tentacles for arms. Those arms ended with wicked looking scythes that looked like it could cut through anything. Its eyes focused on Chazz as the card appeared overhead.
"Stop." Chazz said, though he knew where it would end up.
Like he thought, it ended up Right Side up. Sartorius smirked.
"With the Fiend's right side up effect, when I attack, I can destroy a monster and inflict five hundred points of damage to you."
"Oh you gotta be kidding me!" Chazz snarled, hearing Sartorius declare an attack.
The Fiend wrapped its arms around Seven, destroying it easily. Chazz felt an aura around him.
Chazz: 3100
"Now the attack is a direct one." Sartorius stated, the monster swiping at Chazz's body.
Chazz: 600
"I will end my turn at that, Mister Princeton." Sartorius said, watching.
Chazz didn't say a thing, instead revealing his facedown card. The card was a spell card, Different Dimension Hanger. He placed Y, Z, and a Heavy Mech Support in the three. He then revealed X-Head Cannon.
"With X-Head's summoning, I gain my Y-Dragon, Z-Metal, and finally Heavy Mech!"
The four monsters appeared, but three of them didn't stick around. Chazz combined his three monsters, gaining XYZ-Dragon. He used its effect, discarding Ojamagic, not only destroying the Fiend, but gaining the Ojamas too. Chazz then combined Heavy Mech Support Platform.
(Heavy Mech Support Platform – LV/***, Attribute/DARK, ATK/500, DEF/500, Type/Machine/Union/Effect.
Once per turn, you can either: Target 1 Machine monster you control; equip this card to that target, OR: Unequip this card and Special Summon it. A monster equipped with this card gains 500 ATK/DEF, also if the equipped monster would be destroyed by battle or card effect, destroy this card instead.)
XYZ – ATK/2800 + 500 → 3300
"Alright! I play Graceful Charity, drawing three and ditchin' two! Sorry, Yellow, Green."
"It's all good boss! Give him one hell of a black-eye!"
"Show him why he shouldn't mess with our world!"
The two monsters went to the grave, Chazz seeing the card he needed was in his hand. He smirked.
"Alright! XYZ, attack! And to help him out I play Limiter Removal!"
XYZ – ATK/3300 → 6600
Sartorius gasped, the cannon blasting him hard. He skidded a bit to the edge of the arena, panting hard. That was not something he expected.
Sartorius: 800
Chazz ended his turn, his Heavy Mech being destroyed, but XYZ remaining on the field. Chazz used its effect again to destroy Valhalla, robbing Sartorius of a chance to summon out another monster.
XYZ Dragon - ATK/6600 → 6100
This was a gamble to do...but thankfully, thanks to Mech, I kept my Cannon. Still, Sartorius looks mighty pissed right now. Chazz thought, wondering what the man was going to do.
"I end my turn."
Sartorius drew, looking at his card. He revealed it to be a Monster Reincarnation. Chazz blinked. What was he doing? Sartorius discarded his Arcana Force Zero monster, regaining his The Fiend.
"Now I activate...my trap card, The Material Lord!"
"The What?" Chazz gasped out.
(The Material Lord – Type/Trap/Continuous.
Activate only while there is a Level 4 or lower "Arcana Force" monster in your Graveyard. Discard 1 Level 5 or 6 "Arcana Force" monster. Add 1 "The Spiritual Lord" from your Deck to your hand.)
"I discard my Arcana Force eight – The Strength to the grave. This allows me to add The Spiritual Lord from my deck to my hand." Sartorius said, adding said trap.
Chazz frowned. This was a set up for something BIG. He tried to go through all of the Arcana Force Majors but was coming up empty. He looked to Jaden who also seemed puzzled. Whatever it was...it couldn't be good. He turned back to Sartorius.
"I activate my Trap Booster spell. I discard my Arcana Force one to activate the Spiritual Lord."
(The Spiritual Lord – Type/Trap/Continuous
Activate only when a Level 5 or 6 or higher "Arcana Force" monster is in your Graveyard. By sending a Level 7 "Arcana Force" monster from your hand to the Graveyard, add 1 "The Sky Lord" from your Deck to your hand.)
"Thanks to this trap, I send my Fiend to the Graveyard once again and from it, I gain the spell card, The Sky Lord from my deck." Sartorius intoned.
From the two traps came lights. From the Material Lord, came a red light. The spiritual lord trap had a green light. Suddenly, Chazz's eyes went wide. A spell! That could only mean one thing!
"I play The Sky Lord!"
(The Sky Lord – Type/Spell/Continuous.
Activate only while there is a Level 7 or higher "Arcana Force" monster in your Graveyard. You can send this face-up card, along with one face-up "The Material Lord" and "The Spiritual Lord" you control, to the Graveyard to Special Summon 1 "Arcana Force EX - The Light Ruler" from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard, ignoring the Summoning conditions.)
From the spell came a blue light. Chazz knew that those were the primary colors; Red, Green, and Blue. That meant one color from those three! Sartorius laughed, a white aura springing forth.
"You have done well against me, Mister Princeton...but you have ultimately failed. I send my Sky, Spiritual, and Material Lords to my graveyard. Arise...ARCANA FORCE EX – THE LIGHT RULER!"
A pillar of white light consumed the arena, Chazz and everyone covering their faces. When it was over, they saw the monster.
It was massive. It towered over XYZ, Chazz, and Sartorius. It was covered in metal, making it look like a machine. It had a single eye, two large dragon heads for primary arms and two cannon like claws for secondary arms. Chazz grimaced, waiting to see its stats.
(Arcana Force EX – The Light Ruler – LV/**********, Attribute/LIGHT, ATK/4000, DEF/4000, Type/Fairy/Effect.
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by sending 3 monsters you control to the Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. When this card is Special Summoned: A hologram of this card will appear. Have your opponent shout 'STOP'. Depending on the position will determine this card's effect:and gain the appropriate effect.
● Right Side Up: When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: You can target 1 card in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand.
● Upside Down: During either player's turn, when a Spell/Trap Card, or monster effect, that targets this card is activated: This card loses exactly 1000 ATK and you negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it.)
"Oh that is a lot of points..." Chazz muttered, seeing the card spinning. "Stop. Not like it will matter..."
The card stopped right side up. Sartorius smirked.
"It seems fate has chosen me to be the victor, Mister Princeton."
"Yeah? So what do you want, a fucking medal? So you can take me out...but can you take on your old foe? The Supreme King? Last I heard...you tried and failed an unknown time ago. Then you had to hide away like the little bitch you are. Just so you know, you're gonna fail again. We're not gonna just roll over and let you take over. You're gonna die this time." Chazz spat.
Sartorius snarled. Impudent youth! How dare he! The Light was eternal! HE WAS ETERNAL! With a look of fury, Chazz knew he had gotten under the man's skin. Sartorius revealed a final spell.
"I play Shrink Ray!"
(Shrink Ray– Type/Spell/Quick-Play.
Target 1 face-up monster on the field; its ATK and DEF becomes halved until the end of this turn.)
XYZ – ATK/6100 → 3050, DEF/2600 → 1300
The Light Ruler's eye opened wide. From its two dragon heads, beams of pure white energy lanced out, striking his XYZ monster.
Chazz covered his face, but was smirking. He came close. But now it was all up to Jaden.
Chazz: 0
Sartorius stormed off the arena, enraged that he had lost control like that. Chazz stood there, smirking up a storm at the EoD. He gave a thumbs up making everyone of the EoD clap.
Yep...Chazz did lose, but he gave one hell of a fight before falling. Next chapter will be the last duel of the Quarters; Jaden vs David.
