AN: Special Thanks again goes to Story's Shadow.
-Manhattan, Avengers' Tower, a few minutes ago-
The Avengers were in the meeting room. They'd been there discussing the matter of the magic, Thor stood at the head of the room.
"This energy seems to be similar in a way with how the realms connect with one another. As how Asgard and the others can cross over to Midgard and all the realms, this is perhaps signs of other worlds or dimensions," Thor suggested.
"But we already know this, why go over it again?" Hawkeye scoffed.
"Because even with Doctor Strange's skill and knowledge, looking over what we know isn't the worst thing. And making sure we keep these details in mind could help us in the long run," Thor chided.
Hawkeye rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed.
"Ok, fair enough," the archer sighed.
Captain Marvel smirked at this then turned to the god of thunder.
"Do you believe that who or whatever is using this magic is intentionally meaning to cross over to our dimension?" Captain Marvel asked.
"Unlikely...I have been around the most skilled sorcerers in Asgard...my brother being one of them...and you learn and feel a few things...this magic seems unfocused...or rather focused but with a wrong sense of direction, as one might say," Thor answered.
"Great...just great," Nova grumbled.
"Perhaps, there might be-Huh?" Thor started to say.
He, Iron Fist, and White Tiger all felt it.
"Guys?!" Spider-Man screeched in worry.
"The magic, I felt it again. But stronger this time, a portal has opened," Thor said.
The room's light flashed red and sirens blared.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y.!" Tony shouted.
Holographic screens appeared. A hellish portal opened and from them, slowly emerged familiar entities.
"Mindless Ones," Iron Fist said.
"Dormammu," Hulk snarled.
"Well, I guess we found out who's responsible," Hawkeye said.
"No, this is not what I felt," Thor replied.
"Right now what matters is beating back Dormammu's soldiers! Suit up and get to the Quintet!" Steve ordered.
(Manhattan, several minutes later)
The Avengers dropped out of the Quintet, yards from the Mindless Ones.
"Dormammu picked a bad day to invade," Hulk growled, punching one hand into the other.
Thor snarled, twirling Mjlonir. He grunted, his eyes went to the top of a building for a moment before his attention was drawn away.
"Avengers! Assemble!" Captain America proclaimed.
The Avengers charged. Spider-Man grinned under his mask.
(Gotta admit, I never get tired of this!)
The two sides collided.
Iron Man flew around, dodging the huge hands of the Mindless Ones as they tried to grab him. With each dodge he fired a repulse blast or a rocket. An arm or a leg blasted off, but each Mindless One kept coming. Hawkeye grappled up to a ledge on a building overlooking the battle. He fire arrow after arrow. Net arrows, explosive arrows, oil slick arrows, everything he used to take down the soldiers while helping or evading his teammates.
"Hey, Tony! I bet I can take down more of these Mindless Ones than you!" The archer laughed.
"Oh please! I've got the high tech armor and you-Whoa!" He scoffed then gasped, narrowly dodging as a Mindless One threw a small car at him.
Hulk leapt up and caught it, putting down as landed back on the ground.
"Quit watching and pitch in!" Hulk growled.
He bellowed as he smashed two Mindless Ones together, then followed up by grabbing another and crushing its hand in his hand.
"Uh, you got it big guy!" Tony replied, nervously.
Cap threw his shield forward, going through a few Mindless Ones before being lodged in the neck of another. He rushed forward and forced it through the creature, decapitating it. He then slammed into one that charges him before he dodged another that attempted to stomp on him.
"Focus guys! Where's their master at?!" Cap called out.
Natasha grunted as she dodged and danced around the creatures, firing off with her stingers.
"Dormammu should be here! I imagine he's plenty pissed about how his last encounter with the Avengers went!" Black Widow suggested.
She jumped on top of another and firing a stinger into one of the holes on the side of it head. The stinger hit the orb where the brain would be. She leapt away just before the creatures head exploded.
Spider-Man webbed a few of the Mindless Ones that were flying through the air after being hit by Hulk then slammed them onto the ground. He looked around, seeing his friends battling with their new teammates.
(Gotta say, I haven't fought alongside my old friends in a while. Nor with the Avengers, gotta say: THIS IS AWESOME! *Laughs excitedly*)
Nova flies around, circling the army, firing blast after blast at the Mindless Ones. He takes off a hand or an arm here or there.
"The Guardians are gonna be so pissed that they missed this!" He laughed.
Captain Marvel laughed as she flew through the Mindless Ones, creating huge holes in them as more exited the portal.
"Peter wanted to show them his hometown again. Once they hear what happened here, Rocket's gonna fly the Milano back with Peter taped to the hood!" She added.
"I gotta get that on video!" Nova said.
Luke bellowed as he leapt up and punched one of the creatures as it charged Hulk. He then quickly grabbed a chunk of concrete from where one of the Mindless Ones try to crush Black Widow before she leapt out of the way. Luke smashed one of the creature's heads with the concrete then threw into another, its head and the concrete crumbling from the hit. Hulk watched this and laughed.
"Knew you were a good smasher!" He laughed.
The two fist bumped before leaping back into the fray.
(Knew they'd make a good team.)
Iron Fist dodged and side stepped the attacks from the Mindless Ones. He was like a snake, easily moving around the lumbering strikes of the creatures. When he had an opening he struck with one of his powered fists, crumbling the Mindless Ones with one attack. Hulk watched this with shock.
"Whoa, he's a good smasher too," he gasped.
"Indeed, friend Hulk! The Fist of Iron is a gifted warrior indeed!" Thor added.
The Thunderer destroyed every creature that got near him, Mjlonir smiting every Mindless One it came into contact with. The Asgradian let out a war cry as he flung himself into the midst of a large group of the creatures. He swung his mighty hammer, destroying every Mindless One that came near.
Iron Fist quickly smashed another creature as it leapt at Falcon, who had been flying around and firing at the creatures in swift blitz attacks.
"Thanks," Falcon said.
"No thanks necessary...and...sorry again about what happened on Battleworld," the kung fu hero replied.
"It's ok...but we should get back to this fight," Falcon replied.
"Agreed," Iron Fist added.
"Kiiiyaaah!" A familiar voice cried out.
Spider-Man turned to see White Tiger lunge forward, slashing with her claws. Mindless Ones pulled back as her claws left long marks along their bodies. Her amulet glowed with energy as she raced through the creatures, slashing every Mindless One she got her claws on. She didn't cut through the creatures, but the attacks sent them staggering which allowed for Spider-Man as he leapt in to finish them off left and right.
"Missed this, Tiger," he chuckled.
"You're not the only one," White Tiger replied.
The two went to work bringing down the creatures together. Spidey would web them and Tiger would cut them down. Tiger would quickly slash and draw their attention away then Spidey would lunge forward and knock them down.
"We make a good team," Spidey chuckled.
"We always did," Tiger agreed.
The two smiled under their masks. The next second they and the other Avengers were sent flying back, crying out in shock and pain. They all grunted as they looked in the direction of where they were hit.
"What hit-oh no," Spidey grunted then whimpered.
(Not him again.)
From the portal emerged the master of the Mindless Ones: Dormammu. The demon laughed, arms crossed, as he levitated out of the portal.
"Man, I really wish Doctor Strange was here! Where is he?!" Spidey cried out.
"Deep in meditation in his Sanctum Santorum...but the emergence of this demons no doubt alerted him, he should be here soon," Iron Fist said.
"No soon enough," the demon scoffed.
"Foul demon! Have at thee!" Thor shouted, flying forward.
"Hit 'em hard, Avengers!" Cap ordered.
The Avengers raced forward, colliding with more Mindless Ones while Thor battled the demon overlord.
"Thor needs help!" Spidey called out, webbing another Mindless One as he dodged its punch.
"On it, Web-head! RRRRAAAHHH!" Hulk replied, bellowing as he leapt at the demon.
His fist smashed into the demon's face. Dormammu snarled then backhanded the gamma giant.
"Annoying ogre!" Dormammu hissed.
"Hulk! How dare you!" Thor growled, swinging Mjlonir.
Dormammu bellowed in pain, the magic hammer striking his chest. The demon grunted, putting a hand on where Mjlonir hit.
"You are not in your realm, Dormammu! You are more vulnerable to Mjlonir and the Avengers here! Retreat to the pit from whence you came!" Thor commanded.
Dormammu bellowed as he threw his hand forward, a stream of fire surged at the Asgardian. Thor swirled Mjlonir in front of him, keeping the mystic fire at bay.
"Now! Take him!" Cap ordered.
Iron Fist shouted as he leapt forward, smashing his mystical fists against the demon. Dormammu grunted at each strike. But the Mindless Ones quickly mobbed him.
"Fist!" Spidey shouted, concerned.
"I got him!" Nova replied, flying forward.
He blasted through the creatures and pulled his friend out.
"More and more of his minions are coming! We need to end this!" Hawkeye shouted.
"End it?! With pleasure!" Dormammu laughed.
He smashed his hands together, a wave of fire-like energy flew forward. The Avengers cried out as they flew back, hitting the ground. Most were on the ground, grunting in pain and unable to move. Hulk and Captain Marvel were slowly picking themselves up. Thor was on his feet, but he too grunted in pain.
"I won't let you stop me this time," Dormammu hissed.
"Don't be so sure," a familiar voice proclaimed.
From a bright purple portal, emerged Doctor Strange.
"You," the demon hissed.
"Thor! Take him!" The Sorcerer Supreme called out.
"Aye!" Thor replied, flying forward.
Strange threw his hands out, streams of orange energy flew at the demon. Thor thrust Mjlonir in the demon's direction, lightning surging forward. Dormammu cried out in pain and anger, arms protecting his face.
"Wrecthed...fools!" He snarled.
Dormammu slammed his foot onto the ground, causing a quake that sent Thor reeling back. The demon quickly threw his hand forward, grabbing Doctor Strange.
"You won't-AHHHH!" Doctor Strange started to say then screamed.
The fist he was held in suddenly went ablaze. As he screamed, Dormammu grabbed the Eye of Agamotto. He then tossed his foe, hitting the side of car. He cried out in pain.
"D-Doctor!" Iron Fist cried out in pain.
"Don't think I wouldn't be stopped by you, 'old friend'," the demon hissed.
Thor grunted as he got on his feet.
"Now, it's over!" The demon proclaimed triumphantly.
Thor grunted, he felt a charge of electricity in the air. But he wasn't calling the lightning yet.
"ENOUGH!" An unfamiliar voice roared.
The roar of thunder came as a bolt of lightning shot struck the ground before Dormammu. Everyone there covered their eyes before the light vanished. Where the lightning struck, stood a man dressed in ancient and tradition Chinese clothing as lightning surged and danced around him.
"Who are you?!" Dormammu snarled.
"I am Raiden! God of thunder! And you shall not harm these souls any longer!" Raiden proclaimed.
(Whoa.)
"By Odin's beard," Thor gasped.
"Another thunder god," Dormammu scoffed.
"Silence!" Raiden ordered, thrust one hand forward.
Lightning shot from it and struck the demon, who grunted from the attack. Thor grunted as he walked up to the stranger.
"Thank you, friend Raiden. I am Thor, Prince of Asgard. I am also a god of thunder. Let us join hands against this villain!" Thor greeted.
"Agreed," Raiden said.
The two gods flew forward. Lightning shot forth and struck the demon. Dormammu bellowed as he shot fire at the two, whom managed to dodge the attacks as they continued to fire bolts after bolt of lightning. Thor managed to threw Mjlonir at Dormammu's hand, knocking the Eye of Agamotto from his grip.
"NO!" Dormammu shouted.
Raiden flew forward, throwing a fist forward. It and lightning struck the demon's face. Thor grabbed the Eye and flew to the Sorcerer Supreme.
"Here, doctor! We need you!" Thor said.
"Yes...thank you," Doctor Strange grunted.
As the Eye returned to its rightful place, mystic energy filled Strange. He gasped as he stood up.
"Thank you, now let us drive back Dormammu!" He said.
The two flew back into the fray. The demon backhanded Raiden, sending him flying back. He turned to see his foe and the thunderer flying forward. Doctor Strange shot forth a stream of purple energy from both hands as Thor threw Mjlonir forward, the hammer striking his face. He was slowly pushed back towards the portal. Raiden grunted as he flew forward.
"Let us end this!" Raiden proclaimed.
"Yes!" Doctor Strange agreed.
His hands flew with a bright purple energy then shot forth another stream of energy. Raiden thrust both hands forward, lightning surging forward. Thor twirled Mjlonir in the air. Thunder roared.
"FOR MIDGARD!" He roared, thrusting his hammer forward.
A great bolt of lightning shot from the sky, striking the demon. The combined attack pushed the demon back nearly all the way into the portal. Dormammu growled in pain, slowly taking a step forward. But he paused for a moment, his face making a visage of surprise. But then it twisted into one of evil glee. He chuckled as he stepped back into the portal, chuckling, then he and the portal disappeared.
"That was...ominous," Thor said.
"Indeed," Raiden agreed.
"Dormammu won't have the strength to return for some time...by the time he returns, we will be ready," Doctor Strange said.
He tried to take a step forward, but fell on to one knee. He grunted in pain.
"Here," Raiden said, kneeling down.
His reached his hands forward. A calm and gentle spark of electricity appeared in his hands. It streamed to the sorcerer and danced along his body. The sorcerer gasped in relief as he stood up, healed.
"Thank you," he said.
Raiden nodded. He walked to the other Avengers and did the same for them. They all gathered in the street.
"Thank you for you help," Cap said, offering his hand.
Raiden paused for a moment, before shaking it. The two then pulled their hands back.
"No thanks is needed," Raiden replied.
"Gotta say, that was quite an entrance you made," Captain Marvel chuckled.
"Yeah man, that was badass!" Nova agreed.
"Umm...thank you," Raiden stammered, unsure of how to respond.
"Come friend Raiden! Come with us back to Avengers' Tower! Let us drink and feast to the occasion!" Thor proclaimed, clapping him on the shoulder.
Raiden's glowing blue eyes widened in surprise at this.
"Maybe save the drinking and feasting until later...something tells me we have a lot to talk about," Black Widow interrupted.
Raiden looked back up to the building where he'd been. The man he'd come through the portal with smiled down at him then disappeared.
"More than you could imagine," Raiden replied, ominously.
