AN: Special Thanks goes to Story's Shadow for writing this excellent chapter. Here is the first OC to be fighting in the tournament, and they're fighting an opponent who wasn't originally in the tournament, but we wanted to shake things up. Hope you all enjoy.
Shang Tsung stood up from his chair, smiling at the crowd.
"For the second battle, Yuki Onna will be fighting!"
Those gathered watched as the woman walked up to the combat circle. She glared at the sorcerer, unblinking. The sorcerer merely smiled back at her.
Yuki turned to face the opposite end of the combat area.
The sorcerer grinned widely.
"And she shall be facing: Skarlet!"
From seemingly nowhere, blood materialized and swirled before everyone. Spider-Man nearly threw up.
(Bleh! That's nasty!)
From the dark liquid emerged the lithe figure of a young woman, clad in red and black armor from nearly head to toe. As she stepped before her opponent, the blood seemed to disappear into the woman's hands.
Yuki's eyes widened at this.
"I'm facing...a vampire?."
Skarlet's head lowered slightly to one side.
"I'm partially aware of Earthrealm's lore...but no, I'm not a vampire. I'm a blood mage."
Yuki was quiet for a moment.
"Regardless...if you're fighting for the one who seeks to enslave my realm, you'll fall all the same."
"For his gift given to me, I owe Shao Kahn my loyalty."
"What gift?"
"Freed from starving on the streets, to being his greatest blood mage."
Yuki's face softened.
"You poor thing...I just wished you'd found a home that didn't belong to a madman."
Skarlet's eyes narrowed and blood swirled in one of her hands, forming a dagger. The mage took a fighting stance that positioned her body nearly fully sideways.
Yuki watched.
'Giving me a smaller target. Smart.'
The woman sighed.
"I'm sorry for your past hardships, but I will not let your master win."
Skarlet chuckled again.
"Fool! He already has won nine times...but now here...his victory is only a matter of time!"
Yuki's eyes narrowed. Her ice samurai armor formed and a katana materialized in both hands. Out of the corner of her eye, the man she saw studying her before had his eyes narrowed at her, but not out of anger. But she turned back to her opponent.
"He won't taste victory today!"
Shang Tsung smiled and sat back down in his chair.
"Fight!"
Both women charged. Skarlet hissed as she slashed with her dagger at Yuki's elbow, but was blocked by the katana. Yuki grunted as she deflected and parried slashes and stabs by the dagger targeting her joints.
Skarlet lunged forward with a angry shout.
Yuki sidestepped the attack and brought up her ice blade. She held it up, pushing the blood dagger close to Skarlet's mask. Yuki looked at the young woman.
"Aiming for my joints, going inside my range despite my blade's longer reach. You learned a lot on the streets. You were just a child-"
Skarlet grunted as she pulled her dagger back, sliding away from her opponent. Another dagger formed from hardened blood in her other hand. The blood mage swirled both weapons as she slowly approached Yuki.
"Focus on the present! I will cut your throat and drink you blood. Your blood runs cold, I can sense it. It will be very refreshing."
Yuki sighed.
Skarlet slid forward, stabbing up with one blade. Yuki brought down her sword, blocking the attack. But Skarlet quickly slashed with her other dagger, cutting along the armor near Yuki's knee. Skarlet grumbled at this.
Yuki turned, chuckling.
"Well planned, but my armor is stronger than that."
"We'll see about that."
The blood mage leapt at her and was swallowed by a great flow of blood.
Yuki gasped as she brought up her blade before her, covering her face. But then she felt a stabbing pain in her shoulder. She let out cry of pain. She turned to see Skarlet stabbing that very spot with one dagger.
Yuki growled in shock and anger, head butting her foe.
Skarlet grunted in surprise, her grip lost on her weapon. The blood dagger then dissolved into its former liquid form.
Yuki grunted and gasped, placing a hand on her shoulder and freezing the spot.
'T-That'll have to do for now.'
Her other hand, her ice sword evaporating, went to the wound. She gritted her teeth, but stood.
Both women turned to each other.
Skarlet's face was red, eyes narrowed.
"I will not fail my master!"
Yuki gasped as she watched Skarlet stand, her dagger forming into a long sword.
Skarlet took a step forward, preparing to lunge.
Yuki slowed her grunted and breathing then sighed. Her eyes closed as she stood straight. Her hand went to her side, where a sword would be held. She felt things calm and quiet down.
Skarlet smirked at this and lunged forward, slashing her blade.
When the blood mage's sword was a foot from her foe, Yuki opened her eyes and materialized another ice katana from her hand and pulled it forward as if she was removing it from a scabbard.
Everyone was quiet.
Skarlet's stood almost a foot behind her foe. Her blade had fallen to the ground, having been sliced in two and returned to its liquid form. The blood mage's eyes went wide at this. She quickly turned, trying to materialize another blade only to find Yuki's blade at her throat.
Shang Tsung glared at this, a hand clenching.
Skarlet's wide eyes narrowed.
"Go ahead...finish me...I've failed my master...I deserve death."
Yuki didn't respond, she simply stared into her eyes.
Skarlet knelt before her, the blade remaining where it was.
"Do it."
Yuki sighed and pulled her blade back.
"No. You are defeated, that is enough."
Skarlet's eyes widened and her face reddened.
Nightwolf smiled and Raiden nodded.
The thunder god turned to Shang Tsung.
The sorcerer grumbled.
"Yuki Onna wins."
Yuki's friend and allies cheered or simply nodded and smiled.
Yuki's ice armor and blade disappeared. She then bowed to Skarlet then walked to join the others.
She bowed before Raiden, who smiled and bowed back.
