Guest sarahplumb - yes it is interesting indeed, I think you like what you read about what happens next and in the future chapters too, yes what happens with who find him will soon be revealed, with little Isabella will be shown soon.

Cathy29jes - the Volturi's destruction is just a stepping stone in a huge plan that will take time as you said, yes your right Isabella has been a stumbling block but a necessary one but I'm not gonna spoil any more, yes the compassion will go on. Thank you I like to keep the chapters to be as excellent as possible.

Kouga's older woman - now that you will have to find out soon as I can't spoil it as it ruin the surprise and I think you will like it when you find out why he wants her dead.

Chapter 12

Caius POV

After dealing with sending more scouts to send them on another observation and report mission that concerns the God of War, I decided to go and check on both of the queens who I found out from one of the guards who told me they have secretly been behind Aro's back and been spending time in the garden. The garden used to be Didyme's personal place to relax before her untimely death which only me and Aro knew the true reason and cause of it but promised that neither of us to never tell Marcus the truth as it would spell trouble for not just us for keeping it hidden but everyone else in the coven and probably even the rest of their kind as everyone knew the same thing that Marcus knew that it was accident of a unknown human vampire Hunter who killed her and was killed when caught.

As I was walking towards the gardens where the two queens are currently sitting on the bench that was near the pond which contained some wildlife and seemed to be talking to each other. As he walked towards them to ask their reasons for why they are out of their towers again which after he found out they have been doing for awhile now didn't seem to mind much but did want to know why they chose to be out now and in the garden.

"What are you two doing out of the towers and being in the out and open in the personal place of the late fellow queen, but also my brother's wife and mate?" He questioned the queens hoping to hear answers even though he didn't really care for their reason, asking as they are being careful, definitely his mate. The queens both turned around and stood up noticing that someone was talking to them. When they saw him they didn't look particularly pleased and he could see it showing on both of their faces.

"Why does it concern you, did you really expect us to stay stuck in those towers bored out of our minds when we could be of use in the throne room with the meetings to help with decisions, or if not then just seeing and spending time with the rest of the coven including the newest addition of Isabella" his wife Athenodora told him with her arms crossed.

"She is right, but also we want to be good aunties to her which we can't be if we don't get to spend time with her as much as everyone else does, and if you tell a word of this to my mate I will remove those things between your legs which we both agreed would be fine as it's not any harm but also we actually like spending time in this garden as it bring back good memories so if you wouldn't mind please turn around and go and do whatever you do" Sulpicia told him quite frustrated, which he wasn't gonna let it concern him no more for the time being as there was things more important to deal with than letting his brother know of the queens little escapades behind his brother's back.

He turned back round out of the gardens and into the castle to see if he can track down Marcus as he wouldn't let others know within the coven but he did want to see how Marcus was holding up with babysitting little Isabella as it was his Marcus's turn so it allowed Heidi to get a break and do other stuff mainly with Jane and the other girls of the coven and not just that but it gave everyone a chance to care for her and get to know her more.

As he made his way to the library where he knows that Marcus spends the majority of his time there. He saw that there was no light in the library, which is unusual but he thought to check to be sure. He slowly opened the door and quietly called out "brother are you in here?" he waited for a few moments to go by to be sure and heard nothing, he turned round and closed the door behind him and started to walk down the hallway.

As he walked down the hallway he began to think that it was unusual for Marcus not to be there so he decided to make his way to the throne room as he could be there talking to Aro while holding Isabella as it might be most likely.

He continued down the hallway passing room after room some doors wide open with no one in, some doors closed and he could hear some of the conversations they were having. He started to walk more quickly when he heard one conversation about his predicament before when he had the unfortunate incident with changing Isabella which he hated to be reminded of but chose to continue walking and try to remember who was talking about it and make them be at the one he use to train with to teach them a lesson and hope they don't talk about it again.

He knew it was childish but he had to find a way to let go of his anger of hearing that incident mentioned. He finally made it to the throne room to see what he expected which was Marcus on his throne with Isabella but shockingly Aro wasn't in the throne room which was odd unless, oh no he mustn't have been that stupid to go down the dungeons to where Felix was being held.

"Brother do you know where Aro is at this moment because I do hope he is where I think he might be even if it isn't something we should worry about as I just have this strange feeling that something is gonna go wrong or has gone wrong" he asked his brother who just looked up and stared at him like he just went crazy.

"He left not long after we dealt with the sending of the scouts to check on for updates on his God of War fascination, besides that I've been mainly dealing with this little one to pay much attention" Marcus responded back and then continued to turn his back down towards Isabella who was cuddling up into his arms and staring at Marcus's eyes with adoration. Marcus then followed up with "besides I doubt he would do something that stupid to go alone without taking couple of guards with him, as he usually likes to take two guards whenever he goes anywhere to ensure his safety."

"What about Renata do you know of her whereabouts?" He asked Marcus, "I don't but she is often close to Aro hidden in the shadows but I assume if you call out to her she should appear if she is close by unless she is with Aro" Marcus responded back with little worry as his attention was more concerned with Isabella who he has with him.

He turned away from Marcus and called out "Renata if you're near please get your backside here this instant" he waited and waited and then out from behind him she appeared. "You called master Caius what is it you need" she said in an almost calm tone. "Have you seen my brother anywhere?" He questioned her, then followed with "as you always seem to be close to him and it's odd for you to not be near him" as he knew for a fact what he was asking was the truth and everyone knew it.

"I last saw him head down to the dungeons to where Felix was being held but I didn't go with him as he told me that he doesn't want me to follow him wherever he goes down there as he likes to be alone which I found to be odd but decided to not question it as he is my master but I have been waiting above ground close enough to the dungeons without going down until he comes back up." She told him with so much honesty it worried him.

"So he has no guards with him, he did go down there alone stupidly and hasn't come back up so looks like my hunch was right something must have gone wrong as he should be out of there by now if he left not long after we dealt with sending a new lot of scouts" he said out loud but silently talking to himself even if everyone in the room could hear him.

He made his way to the dungeons to see what was taking his brother so long, as he continued down he thought he heard some talking that sounded nothing like his brother's voice but someone else, he just couldn't put his finger on who it might be. He finally got to the bottom where the dungeons are and saw several things that shocked him and angered him at the same time.

He saw that his brother was knocked unconscious at the opened cage where Felix wasn't in when he should be but also he could smell another unknown vampire smell which also smelt familiar too.

Aro POV

After being knocked out cold to a form of unconscious state he continued to see complete darkness, which seemed to be going on for what felt like ages, he began to understand what Felix must have felt when he was unconscious too even if he still deserved it too. Being stuck on the floor he was able to think for as long as he was in this state, he still wanted to know how he was knocked out in the first place as he thought it was Felix but realised that it couldn't have been due to him being right in front of him when he opened the cage door at the time.

Time seemed to keep going and going with nothing but darkness to continue he felt wished he could find a way to get himself up but it's like whatever knocked him out made him paralysed from top to bottom of his body, what felt like hours when by more he started to have some feeling coming within his body but still unable to move.

After awhile he felt something hit his side of his body which felt like a jab or a kick, this feeling of something hitting his side continued a few more times which it must have been like it was something getting his attention but as he couldn't move he couldn't do anything but make a small audible sound that was like a grumble hoping that would service who or what was hitting his side.

A few minutes went by and his hearing began to become clearer enough to hear someone talking. "Ah so you are still alive then" the voice sounded familiar but he couldn't quite make it out for it to be clear enough to tell who it was. He was still trying to get the rest of his body out of this semi unconscious state with some paralysis that kept him as a heap on the still cold and rocky ground. He heard the same voice call him again " wake up and tell me what you are doing lying on the dungeon's grubby flooring" this time sounding even angrier than before.

He managed to get his body to allow him to open his eyes and could see the one person he wished it wasn't as it was his brother Caius with his arms crossed and looking as angry as he sounded. "Yes I know I was stupid to not bring any of the guards down here or even let Renata my personal shield to come down here but, I just came down here for answers, so I saw little need for the extra protection as it only Felix" he told his brother in apologetic tone. "Don't forget that not only did that same Felix who managed to just escape you but somehow knock you out cold so he could do it " Caius told him frustrated with a slight bit of sarcastic tone in his voice too when he told him this.

While his brother was steaming with frustration he got himself stood up, brushed himself down while he still felt a slight dizziness but kept himself still to steady himself next to the cage bars for support. He knew his brother had a point and was right as he knew he shouldn't have done what he did but did something so stupid to let someone less powerful than him to escape him all because he wanted answers and forgot that Felix was a prisoner not just one of the guard that he could let his guard down as easily as he did, which led to Felix escape.

The only thing he couldn't work out is how he got knocked unconscious as he was certain it couldn't have been Felix but also wasn't sure how someone got behind him without him hearing or smelling them. Of course he wouldn't let his brother know that he allowed not just Felix to escape but also for someone to get behind him to knock him out cold in the first place, his brother would never let him forget it if he knew.

His brother looked like he finally managed to calm himself down to now ask a question, "So brother , do you remember anything that could help us track our prisoner down to bring back for his death?" Caius questioned him.

"What do you mean by that I was knocked out plus there was only one escape route which leads to where I assume Reneta was still guarding by and that led to the rest of the castle so someone should have caught him right?" he ranted to his brother as he started to bubble with anger at being questioned by his own brother but also when everyone knows there is one route in and out of the dungeons so he was starting to be annoyed that no one saw or caught him either.

Caius face went from confusion to anger where he was silently ranting to himself in a variety of different languages to keep track of or make sense of what he was saying, even if he himself could guess what it was about but chose to say nothing, then after a few minutes passed he then went completely emotionless and still not moving or showing any expression in his face which only happens when he ranted himself out.

He walked to the exit, about to leave the dungeons and head to his office where he could think everything through and change out of his dirty clothing into some fresh clean ones when he felt a hand on his shoulder pulling back round. As he was turned round he saw what looked like his brothers eyes with fire in them which might have been his imagination but knew that his brother was pissed beyond what he could imagine, "So you think you can go to your office and just leave this conversation where it is when we still yet have more to talk about for example there is a existing route somewhere between here and where Renata was standing guard to wait for you" his brother told him sternly "not just that we need to know how Felix knew of this route he used to escape and if anyone helped him which means you be checking everyone's thoughts and memories straight away when we finish this conversation to ensure no one tries to escape it and if I find out anyone helped or is missing they will get a punishment worse than death by my hands and my hands alone" his brother finished saying.

He knew himself that what Caius said was the truth, he knew had no way but to agree with him as not just that he owes it to his brother to help with his brother's plan, but to get the answers to find out who knocked him unconscious but to also helped in someway or other to aid in Felix's escape from the cage, and the castle to wherever he plans to go to.

He then just realised what just happened could affect with whoever tasked them with protecting Isabella and caring for her as if whoever did what they did to him could they do it again during the time as he knew that Isabella is still a while away from being older enough to be turned at eighteen and that means they got to figure out how to fix these problems and ensure they don't repeat again as if Isabella gets killed then they have failed and if that person or thing returns to see if Isabella is safe and find out that she isn't then he isn't looking forward to seeing what happens.

"Erm brother I think we also need to find a way to fix whatever has been done, with the Felix issue, among other things, as I recall we was tasked with protecting Isabella, if what happened today continues we would have failed in whoever tasked us with protecting her, so we got to ensure it doesn't happen again" he told his brother with honesty but knew what his brother was gonna say so he thought he bring it up first. "yes, yes I know what you was gonna say, because i know that in future, I will have to start to listen to your suggestions definitely when it concerns with bringing guards wherever I go definitely when it comes to seeing any prisoners again, as I can't let the same thing to happen that happened today to continue."

"You're right it can't continue, as much as at the beginning I despised this task of protecting a human child, I've become rather fond of her even if I can't stand the diaper changes part" as his brother showed disgust at that but then continued, "I would like to see her grow up and maybe in the near future when things have calmed down and she is like us, to even be ruling alongside us" which he sounded quite pleased with and he had to agree it was a good suggestion too. "the only thing is we can't let anyone apart from Marcus to know until her 18th so it give everyone time and to adjust to her being here, to get to know her and to be able to make a valid and fair opinion of her, as even if everyone says they are OK with her or hasn't done anything to harm her like Felix attempted, we can't risk adding this to it and making things worse or where start to distance themselves or detest her" his brother followed up with, along with making very valid points which he agreed with but aloud his brother to continue until he's finished to put his opinion in. "Hopefully by that point we eventually can bring this very subject up, plus I think that if she can knock someone like Felix, who is not just a vampire but also one had a high rank in the guard, kept his newborn strength despite him being older than he was when he was a newborn which is only a year long, which means he should have lost that newborn strength after that one year but didn't, shows a lot to me that she is someone we need and want on our side as a ruler" Caius said to him and looking to be very calm despite how things have been so going far.

"Well usually when we have these types of discussions we find ourselves disagreeing and rarely agree on anything and require our brother to be the tie breaker but as we haven't included him on this as of yet but will be as he is also a fellow ruler, I think you are right with what you said with Isabella and everything, I also think we also should also make sure that Heidi isn't to hear of it either even if she mainly spends the majority of time with Isabella, she will most likely want to rip our heads for keeping this from her but I think when the time is right like you said she be glad in the end" he told his brother in complete honesty which is rare among them as they both agree with one thing is that they rarely honest and agreed that he wouldn't use his gift to find out his brother's thoughts without permission to show that they could trust each other which was the first and only thing they ever agreed on at the beginning of when they first met each other and started to form a brotherly bond and formed the Volturi coven.

"I think that even though the rest of our kind see us as power hungry and always after anyone with powerful gifts, which I hate to admit they are partially right but also forget that us having Isabella to be ruling alongside us when she is older enough to be but also the right time for her to be known to the rest of our kind, will also be away to show that Isabella makes us see humans differently and can help to improve our kind to do better" he mentioned to his brother which he knew his brother knew it but thought he should mention it anyway.

"They only see us as power hungry because they only see us one way but maybe showing that side for the moment means that we are strong and are not weak, so they will not mess with us and with Isabella she will enforce our strength even more but hopefully show a more of a female perspective as the queen's are in the tower so no ones pays them any mind due to it" his brother told him, which did give him what they call food for thought.

He realised that maybe what his brother has just told him might be something to think about, first he will need to stop locking the queen's away in the tower and give them free rain of the castle once more, even if he lost his sister before he knows he can't stop the other two Queens from being around the castle. He began to wonder if he could make a deal with the queen's that gave them freedom 9f the castle but have a guard of two to be with them to ensure their safety and give him mainly a peace of mind, as he can't have where Isabella be a queen and on the front and the two Queens staying locked away just because he fears of them getting the same death that his sister and his brother's mate did.

"I have thought of what you said and I hate saying this but I agree with you but I have a compromise to go with it but we should involve our brother with this first before we continue if that's fine with you too" he told him.

"Let's go and talk with him about it and about what to do about Felix also as we can't let him escape and not be dealt with either" his brother said while heading up out of the dungeons. He began to follow his brother up and out of the dungeons to start dealing with everything they have spoken about, he knew for one that Felix is gonna be one conversation that is gonna be an irritating one to keep talking about more than when he talks about his god of war.
