Chapter 18
Unknown POV
(Unknown location)
(One week later)
I find myself sitting in this room with the two females, one who I was told called Chelsea but the other one is unknown to me but the boss told me that they are both here for reason but I'm not to ask or try to find out what it is, I know I should try to but something about my boss just gives me a weird feeling in my gut that tells me not to test him as it could be my last breath that I take. While I'm still sitting down watching the two females to ensure that they stay sedated and unconscious, I think that from all the jobs I've done in my small human life, this is the strangest one yet, as I've done some odd little jobs to earn some money to keep a roof over my head and my family, but now that I'm all alone in the world and no one willing to pay me for any small odd jobs, I was left with this jobs that I've taken.
What's the strangest thing about all this is not the job itself but that the one who gave me this job, is the boss I'm working for and he's paying me in solid gold bars just to do it, without asking any further questions or details about who he is or why he wants me to do this job, in the first place. The main reason I accepted his job was that I was desperate for the money, I was alone as my family has all died, from natural causes, old age or from disease that continues to plague our little town that we lived in.
When I did accept this job I found myself knocked unconscious right on the spot, then straight here, or wherever here is I should say as, I'm assuming wherever I am is far away from where I was and somewhere isolated from the rest of humanity, to ensure that I won't be able to tell anyone what's happening here or anything else that may ruin the boss's plans, the weird thing is that despite all the oddness of the job itself, I've been taken care of very well, as I have a great bed, clothing, food and drinks, and even some entertainment, which helps with the boredom I find myself in ever so often.
Looking at the wall I see a giant timer letting me know how long I got till I have to use more of the sedatives that the boss left me to use on the two females, which he refills every time he visits to check on the two females and myself to ensure that everything is the way he wants it to be. The last time he visited a week ago, head the first time I found out Chelsea was the name of one of the females, and that he said I could do as I please with her, which even though it's been tempting, I haven't acted on the temptation because, firstly, it don't feel right to do something like that, secondly, her being unnaturally beautiful compared to the other females I've seen just gives me a weird feeling in the pits of my stomach to stay as far away from her as possible and finally, my attention is more concentrated on the other female as she doesn't look pale, unnaturally beautiful or give me a weird feeling like Chelsea does.
I know that the other female is off limits but my curiosity bothers me constantly throughout these days and weeks that has gone by, as I've been here for a total of ten weeks so far, I did wish that the boss gave me some more information, instructions or details about why these two are here and for me to watch them until he says otherwise, how he's keeping them sedated for so long without them needing to be fed or anything, but also what his reasoning must be for all this, as it confuses him even if the payment he's getting for all this is enough to last him for several lifetimes.
I decided to walk about the room to stretch my legs as I began to have a cramping feeling in them which was uncomfortable, while I looked about the room like I do every day I noticed a twitch on the females fingers which hasn't happened before so I went to find something to record it or so I could mention it to her boss when he next visits again, the twitching of the fingers stopped after a few seconds, but Chelsea remained unmoved, even weirder was that she wasn't breathing either but yet still looked to be alive at the same time which bothered me but knew it wasn't something to question.
Well all this watching and pacing of this dark and gloomy room, with not much happening or anything much else to do, so I feel like I should get something to eat and drink to help pass the time, but also that I'm feeling peckish and thirsty now that I keep thinking about it. I decide to take a slow pace walk towards the door which has the kitchen area behind it, as I open the door, then close it behind myself, I put the ten bolted latches back on and make sure that it's still connected and locked a few more times, as I know that I don't check more than once I might have missed something.
After checking that everything is locked and sorted I look in the many cupboards to see what there is to eat, I then grab a glass to fill up with some crystal clear water to drink, still thinking how surprising that there is so much food here and none of it looks to be rotting or going bad. While I'm drinking and eating, I write a list of some items that I hope that my boss can let me have to help pass the time, oddly enough I found that I have written down books, as I've known from some of the people I knew used to read to help pass the time when they got bored or just wanted to relax.
Aro's POV
It's been a whole week since we have found this mysterious, old, very thick sized tome, we have all taken turns to reading a good chunk of this tome, we have yet to find what we are searching for in it but have found a good number of interesting parts that have interested us three for numerous reasons. It has become rather frustrating for Caius in particular as we usually let Marcus deal with all the research part but we promised we would help and even with some of the interesting facts we have found, none of them is getting us any closer to solving any of the prophecy that we tasked ourselves with cracking.
As of this moment, myself and Caius take a small break from reading the massive tome, Marcus is still absorbed into the tome reading trying to continue the hunt for the answers we seek. "Brother would you like to join me down in our brother's little hideaway for a drink of some Italian wine that he hides away down there so our brother can concentrate better without us hovering over him" I ask Caius, with Marcus being so absorbed in the tome to not notice what I said or not caring, Caius walks in my direction following where I'm headed "sure, I could do with a nice drink and a break from all this reading, but also so we get away from all these books as, if I stay in here any longer I'm gonna turn into my brother" Caius laughs mockingly.
Both myself and my brother walked down Marcus's little hideaway that was hidden even within the library itself, where he stashes away a variety of alcoholic beverages, but mainly consists of aged wines from places that we collected over the many, many years himself or when we have sent one of our guards to places that sells them. As we sat ourselves down on a chair each in the room, we both look through the many racks and shelves that hold the wine, to see which we fancied.
"I'm so glad being a vampire still allows us to still enjoy the good stuff, as without alcohol, living this long wouldn't be as fun even with the punishments that I so enjoy to give to the guilty, not just that this is the one thing that even my lovely mate won't get to enjoy unless it's one of those special events where it gets used but we haven't had one in ages" Caius said gleefully, I always find it uncomfortable when my brother acts so happy and not in his usual grumpy mood.
(Couple hours later)
It's been a couple of hours since me and my brother decided to go down to Marcus's little hideaway to get away from the library, well in my brothers case anyway, I just wanted to have a few drinks as I've been ghastping for a drink for awhile and Marcus absolutely refused any of us drinking anywhere close to the books and everything else within his library.
While I've been down here with Caius, we been drinking and talking about all sorts of conversations, business was always something we talked about in general, but we spoke about the Bella and Isabella situation as that seemed to take majority of our time as it was such a big thing to discuss, but when we finished talking about that we was about to toast to a new subject as we just liked clinking our wine glasses together when we start a new conversation because there wasn't much else to do, but then we heard Marcus shouting our names quite loudly.
"ARO, CAIUS, GET YOURSELVES HERE QUICKLY!" Marcus shouted at the top of his voice.
Both me and Caius looked at each other, with the same expression and most likely the same thought going round our minds if this is what we hoped it would be, then we placed our drinks on the small table and then rushed up to our brother to see what he called for us, as we got to library we saw our brother with a huge smile on his face and pointing to a page in the tome for us to look at. As we both got closer and looked at where he was pointing we could see that he found something indeed.
"The answers we seemed was in front of us the whole time, it was very carefully coded, which I'm assuming is extra protection from anyone who isn't to see it, the only thing that confuses me is I can't find any clue to who wrote it but if they are alive or not then they must have known that something was gonna happen and in this tome, it seems to hold more than just answers to the prophecy but to other stuff that Bella told us about, as while you both was down there drinking, I saw something about hybrid witches that are able to cast powerful magic and spells that this tome contains and locations to where other items that can increase their strength and magic futher" Marcus explained.
With all that my brother told us, if it was possible my mind would have exploded with how much he just said, as all the possibilities about if neither of us came across Jane and Alec then we could have been in a worse position than we already are, but if they are these very powerful Witch hybrids then would they even wanna listen to our orders as they be more powerful than us and we be unable to control them, even though the idea if they still respect us and listen to us then we would have no problem dealing with anyone law breaker or the enemy who is after Isabella or possibly us too.
"So if I'm correct in what you're saying, that we have two powerful guards in our coven, that is even more powerful than they already are?" Caius questioned.
"Yes they are even more powerful than they already are, but from the little that it says about them in the tome, they are loyal to the daughter of the night and with the daughter of the night, they will allow us to locate the light, but besides that it just says locations to find the Witch hybrids items, so maybe at those locations could be more answers about them, but apparently only the Witch hybrids can locate them, as even with the locations showing us we wouldn't be able to see it without their help" Marcus answered.
I continued to listen to the conversation play out between my two brothers for several hours and just let everything that I've heard absorb, to work out what our next plan of action should be as, part of me wants to inform the twins about it but part of me thought against it as it could cause them to leave, or do something drastic that would make things even more worse.
After a while both of my brothers stopped talking, then realizing that I wasn't taking part in the conversation and stared at me, "brother have you got something on your mind as you rarely ever not put your opinion across unless something is ok your mind?" Marcus questioned, "I agree it's the most unusual even for someone like you" Caius agreed. I stared back at my two brothers, "sorry your right I do have something on my mind, it's mainly to do with the twin and the potential that if Bella is right with them being witch hybrids and if they do will they be on our side or something else, but not just that whether we should tell them and the others about all this too" I explained to my two brothers hoping that they understand my reasoning and if they shared the same thoughts as I did.
The room went quiet for awhile which I assumed that my thoughts was right they did share the same thoughts I did on the matter on whether everyone should know and what to do with the twins situation, "well despite everything that has happened the twins have been with us probably the longest to the others but also that they have never shown us any disloyalty or disobedience, so I think we should be able to trust them to tell them the truth, and hope that they forgive us for not telling them when we knew at the start, that also goes for everyone else too as they have a right to know, but don't forget we got to show some faith that they actually want to stay with us and we can only show that by telling them everything" Marcus explained, Caius nodded, "I agree and it's unusual for any of us to agree on most decisions we make but think about it for a second, we show them all we have faith in them all" then Caius turned with a serious look at me with the next part that he was gonna say, " including the Queens who has been stuck in that tower for God knows how long, then maybe they will trust us and have faith in us and understand why we didn't tell them at the start, which I think will end up with them sticking by us through it, because I'm not sure if you two have noticed but now that we don't have Chelsea, nearly everyone who had her gift connecting us to them will eventually return to where they came from but if we tell them this maybe just maybe they won't return and instead stay with us on their own without the bond manipulation" Caius finished very calmly.
It surprised me with what they both said, more so with Caius as he wasn't the one to express his opinion in the way he did in a calm manner or with the emotion he showed like he actually cared about them all more than he usually shows whenever I'm around him. "Then it's settled then should we get out of here and explain to everyone, everything that we know and some that we have kept from them" I said to my two brothers, they both just nod. We all stood up from where we had sat to make our way to exit out of the library.
As we all near the door with myself in the front, Caius on my left and Marcus on my right, I push open the door of the library to see looks to be some decorations that I recognized from mine and my brother's weddings that we had ages ago and some other things that I assume is other types of decorations that I think that's what they are as they look different almost like some of the guards have been out to buy items to make the room more colourful, the only thing that I'm now thinking of is what have they been celebrating or planning to celebrate that we didn't get asked about or for it to be discussed before they went ahead with it.
"What is all this, have you all be slacking on your jobs and done nothing while we was busy" Caius shouted in a uproar of anger, I usually would have told him to calm down but as he said it, it got everyone's attention as they just stopped what they was doing, then stared at us like they didn't notice we was in the room before my brothers uproar.
Surprisingly from everyone who moved from where they stood, it was the two queens the same two who I clearly remembered that I ensures their safety unlike my sister's and my brother's mates death to happen to then too, but what made it surprising is that they wasn't in the tower but here in the throne room and apparently helped to decorate the this room without me and my brothers knowing about it. As the two women marched forward with what appeared to be anger, it frightened me and my brothers seemed to share the same frightened expression as myself, as we all knew the saying that there was no scorn like a woman's fury.
The two queens being mear inches to us, still holding that same angered gaze, "what gives you the right to be angry at us when you three have been in that library for months on end without a single moment to let any of us know that you was alright or even tell us what has you three in there doing whatever you was doing, so if anyone should be angry it should be all of us being angry towards you three" Sulpicia demanded.
I couldn't think of a single word to say or explain, but I realized that my mate was right like always. It's a good thing that we all decided to explain everything anyway, but I doubt that my brother would apologize for his outburst, but if he did he wouldn't do it in front of everyone, but only to his mate when they was alone, my mate I know for a fact wouldn't let me off that easily, so she would force me to apologize in front of everyone if I would have said the same thing as my brother did.
"Well your right we don't have a right to be angry at you all for doing all this behind our backs, as we did hide away in the library for months on end, but we do have a very good reason for it, that we are willing to share with you all and we hope that you all can be willing to listen to it all before you ask any questions as it's a lot to tell you, so please have faith and trust in us that we did keep it to ourselves for a reason" Marcus explained very calmly, which had everyone look at him paying attention to everything he explained to them, I was thought he was gonna let me or my brother to explain it but I'm assumed he thought that as it was both mine and my brothers mates who was there and angry, he was the least likely to be angry at as he was known to be hiding in the background behind us since the death of his mate, so being the one to speak up and explain was the only way for everyone to pay attention to him and calm down slightly.
After what my brother explained to everyone, all who were in the room began to look towards each other, even the two queens looked to us, then each other and then back to everyone else like they all were deciding whether to listen to our explanation or not. From everyone who decided to speak up it was Heidi, who was still holding Isabella in her arms, "Masters, you have our attention and I think I speak for everyone who is here that it better be a good reason to explain why you hide from us all for months and kept stuff from us all that we all should have been told about, as most of us had our suspicions after that light incident among that no offense but Reneta hasn't been around you master for awhile which is definitely odd and very rare thing to occur from the time I've spent serving you" Heidi said very clearly with a hint of uncertainty in her voice as she spoke.
As I knew that from what just happened a moment ago, that the only one who should explain everything from myself and my two brothers, it was probably for the best that we let Marcus to explain, as it will ensure that everyone would listen to him as he hasn't had that much chance to speak for awhile as he always prefered to let me or Caius be the one to speak, or that is what I assumed, but not just that I also think he could explain it more clearly and in detail that everyone will understand it better as he has read the tome more than either of us has so far.
It doesn't help much that both mine and my brother's mates are still staring at us with the same angered gaze waiting for a response from any of us, I turn to face Marcus hoping he would speak up and save myself and Caius from our mates and possibly everyone else when he has explained everything. "Very well if you all could all find somewhere to either sit or stand so it gives me the best chance and space to explain it to you all without needing to repeat myself please" Marcus announced, which got everyone's attention and they all immediately speed across the room to find a seat or somewhere to stand nearby, both myself and my brothers went to sit on our thrones to get ourselves seated and ready.
"Now for the second thing I'm gonna say before I explain everything is" Marcus directed his head towards the Queens who was still staring at me and my brother with the angered gaze, "if you wouldn't mind dialing down the anger towards us, I know we deserve it but it would make it easier to explain without the gazes of anger, that goes for the rest of you too if you wouldn't mind" Marcus asked very calm and kindly.
"Where was I, ah now I know, yes you all know we been in the library for months on end and before then we left bits out about what happened with the blinding light situation, we have our reasons behind it, that also goes for with Reneta too, which I will apologize about you being away from your master, but we needed it to be just us so we could communicate to each other without everyone else knowing everything too until we was ready to explain which I'll be doing now" Marcus explained, Reneta nodded to show she understood and accepted the apology.
Marcus continued to explain everything that happened that they didn't tell them before, and what they found out in the library, the expressions on everyone's faces changed several times like they couldn't believe or decide how they felt or thought about what they have just heard, Jane and Alec's was the easiest and noticeable as both myself and Caius felt jolts of pain coming from Jane when she felt angry or confused, but with Alec we noticed how the black shadows of his gift wisping in the air trying to lash out at the walls but doing nothing but going right through it like wind.
