Peach walked out to the balcony of her castle, staring out into Toad Town as she leaned her arms onto the railing. She took a deep breath, the misty exhale of her breath escaping her lips. She looked up to see the moon, seeing it being partially covered by clouds.
She still looked down at Toad Town and had an idea. Normally, she doesn't do this sort of thing but she just felt like doing it.
She walked toward her closet and picked up her phone, deciding to check on the weather. After she checked it, she proceeded to wear something less… pink. She would put on her Wintertime outfit as she would then walk outside and head straight for Toad Town.
Her hands were in her pockets as she would walk into town, casually walking through the streets with a soft hum.
"Hey… what's a good lookin' gal like you doing here at this time of night?"
Peach turned her head, seeing a few Chargin' Chucks and a Lakitu approaching her. "Oh… uh… hello gentleman." She said.
"Ah, that voice… it's the princess!" One of the Chargin' Chucks said.
The Lakitu swung on over and wrapped his arms around her shoulder. "We don't normally see you around here at night! Heh, how's about you hop in my cloud and we can have ourselves a little cruise? Heheh…"
"Oh dear… um, no thank you. I'm not into that sort of thing." Peach politely declined as she pulled away from the Lakitu, only to get her arm pulled from behind by a Chargin' Chuck.
"Aw, don't be like that, sweetheart! We won't be too rough on ya… we promise!"
Peach sweatdropped. "Oh sure… I know how this is going to go. Look, I'm not as naive as you think I am. I know exactly what you're going to do to me."
"Ohoho! You think that's how it's going to go? Well… let's see if your theory is correct." The Chargin' Chuck smirked.
Oh dear… Peach thought as she tried to pry herself away from the Chargin Chucks, but to her dismay, they had a firm grip on her. Alright… you asked for it. She thought as she closed her eyes as an aura developed in her hand.
"Oho! Look at her being submissive just like that. No wonder Bowser is able to snag her easily." Lakitu smirked. "Now, let's-"
Suddenly, a sheep landed right on top of a Chargin' Chuck. "Wha…? Why do I feel slee-… zzzzz…" The Chargin' Chuck fell on his back, letting go of Peach.
"Huh?!" The others yelped in surprise as Peach would quickly do a spin kick on the other Chargin' Chuck before picking up the sheep and aiming it at the Lakitu.
"Uh… look, doll face… we were only kidding! We were just-" Peach threw the sheep at the Lakitu, smacking him in the face. "-Playing… around… zzzzz…"
"Baaaaa." The sheep bleeted as it walked off, while Peach waved at it.
"Wow… I haven't seen you use that kind of spell since we took on the Smithy Gang." A voice said as Peach turned around to see Mario approaching her.
"Oh! Mario!"
Mario smiled. "Can't sleep?"
Peach giggled. "Neither can you, apparently." She teased, causing Mario to chuckle, rubbing the back of his head.
"Ya got me." He said. "You want to… walk around together?"
Peach smiled. "Sure. I'd love that." She said as she walked with Mario along the brisk night. "So, what has you out and about tonight?" She asked.
"Oh… just one of those nights where you can't really get an ounce of sleep. Thought I'd walk around Toad Town for a bit." Mario explained.
Peach giggled. "Wow, that's pretty much how it is for me." She said. "Normally, I don't get out of the castle around midnight, but tonight was one of those nights where I just couldn't sleep."
"I hear ya." Mario agreed as they kept walking around.
"Gosh… I never thought Toad Town would be so spooky at night." Peach said. "It's like… completely dead."
"Mhm." Mario nodded as they continued to wander around until they found a bench where they sat down together, where they would look up and see clouds covering the moon entirely.
"Can you believe it… it's almost December." Peach said.
"Yup." Mario agreed.
BGM: Luma (Super Mario Galaxy)
"It's been so long…" Peach said. "I remember it like it was yesterday. It was the beginning of spring… you and Luigi saved me from Bowser… and then, Cinder shows up with the Grimm."
"Has it been that long? Mama mia…" Mario rubbed his head.
"Right?" Peach nodded. "RWBY shows up to save us and… it's been a wild ride ever since. They go to Skyworld, we go to Yoshi's Island and meet a friend named Nyx… all of us get trapped in paintings while meeting Iris and Xena…"
"RWBY and I get kidnapped by King Boo and JNPR and Weeg saves us with the help of Jade and a few other friends…" Mario chimed in.
"JINX forms and we all go to Delfino and… we all know how that went." Peach said, causing Mario to nod. "Then RWBY goes to DK Isle… we go to the Beanbean Kingdom, they go save Weiss from Jacques… we get attacked by space aliens, Ruby goes missing and they find her… then we meet Rosie and the whole universe implodes on itself… Weiss and Blake then fight in the Galarian Star Tournament, then Fawful pops up again and we have ourselves a Blorb crisis… then we find out that JINX traveled to some dimension with the Wario Bros… and now Blake is on some mission with Samus and Rosie…"
"All in the span of a year." Mario said. "Well, almost."
"Right? And it's almost December now." Peach sighed. "Where does the time go? It's been nearly a year since we've met RWBY and our lives have never really been the same."
"You say it like it's a bad thing." Mario teased.
Peach giggled. "It's never a dull moment." She said, finding herself leaning her head on Mario's shoulder, which he responded with leaning his head on hers. "Made new friends… saw relationships blossom… it's been a heck of a year."
"Yup." Mario agreed.
"And honestly? I wouldn't trade it for anything else. It's been exciting… watching these huntsman and huntresses grow." Peach sighed. "It's amazing how far everyone has come… especially ones you never thought would go the distance like… Weiss or… Marnie or… Jaune."
"They all surprised us."
"Indeed." Peach smiled, closing her eyes. "…Mario. You think there's another universe out there where we have semblances of our own and we formed a huntsman team?"
"Probably. I wouldn't doubt it." Mario said and then chuckled. "I definitely know what my semblance would be."
"Your jumping capabilities?"
"Oh yeah." Mario nodded.
"Hmm… I think mine would be something to do with healing." Peach smiled.
"That would be a good one."
"Mhm." Peach nodded as they cuddled against one another for a few minutes… and that's when a few snowflakes fell in front of them.
"Oh, it's-a snowing." Mario said.
Peach chuckled. "So it is." She said as she let out a yawn. "…I think I'm ready to go back home."
"Want me to walk you there?"
Peach smiled, blushing a little. "I'd love that." She said as Mario stood up and helped Peach up as the two of them walked toward the castle as the snow continued to gently fall toward the ground.
As they got to the castle, the two of them looked into each other's eyes and smiled. "Thank you, Mario…" She smiled, gently kneeling down and kissing him on the nose, causing the latter to blush.
"You're welcome." He said, rubbing the back of his head. "Buona notte, principessa." (Good night, princess.)
Peach smiled. "Good night, Mario." She said softly as she walked inside where the two walked their separate ways where Mario would walk through the snowy darkness.
"Brrr!" Mario shuddered. "I should've brought a jacket…" He said with a sheepish chuckle as he walked back to his home while Peach walked into her room and took off her winter outfit, then slipped into some pajamas as she looked out toward the balcony, watching the snow gently fall to the ground before she turned off the light and slept.
As for Mario, he made it to his house, covered in a thin blanket of snow as he brushed it off his shoulders and hat while kicking it off his shoes. He walked over to his room and went out like a light the moment his head hit the pillow.
Ah, such a heartwarming and wholesome MarioxPeach moment.
