Back When Seryu Was Somewhat Stable

"Freak!"

"Bitch!"

"You belong in the pound!"

"You look like one of my dumb dogs before I had to euthanize him!"

"You should be euthanized, weirdo!"

"You faunus make me sick…"

"Eugh, why would they have a Faunus in the Winter Ops anyway?"

"Go back to where you came from!"

The Winter Ops walked into their HQ. "Well, I can safely say that mission didn't go as planned…" Lubbock said, rolling his shoulders.

"True, but we did succeed." Esdeath said. "As much as I wanted to avoid casualties…"

"Where did those Grimm even come from?" Bulat wondered. "As much as we fought 'em, a few managed to break through the defenses and killed some civilians."

"We did the best we could though." Najenda said.

"Indeed." Sheele nodded as she looked to her left. "Right Seryu?"

Seryu said nothing as she looked down at the ground, looking a bit down. "Hmm? …Oh, right… yeah, we did succeed, I guess…"

"This calls for a celebration!" Bols said as he took off, and then came back five seconds later with a tray full of drinks. "Pina Coladas and Margaritas, anyone?"

"…How did he make those that fast?" Kurome asked.

"Probably made them before we left." Esdeath chuckled. "Now then, let's have ourselves a celebration after a job well done!"

Sheele would look at Seryu, who had got up and walked out of the room. "Seryu…" Sheele whispered as she walked after her, where she would find her on a balcony, where she would hear her sniffling. "Seryu, are you okay…?"

"Hmm…?" Seryu turned her head. "Oh, hey Sheele."

"Is something troubling you?"

"No, not really…"

"It was those villagers, wasn't it?"

Seryu gritted her teeth. "I don't get it… no matter what I've done for humans, they always treat me like crap…" She mumbled. "Even in my childhood, they bullied me because I have dog ears. They beat me up… they rob me blind… I don't know how some Faunus deal with it. Me? I… I don't think I can go on."

"Seryu, don't say that…"

"Right…" Seryu looked at her. "You were always there for me, Sheele… even when we were little."

Sheele smiled. "Well, we are best friends, aren't we?"

"Of course…" Seryu teared up. "But I just wish people would stop being such assholes! I swear, that Jacques Schnee is like riling all of Atlas against Faunus… why does he have to be such a stuck up… gaaaah!" Seryu punched the wall in frustration. "It's bad enough that he's doing this but I've heard rumblings that he's got his younger daughter and son wrapped around his finger, feeding them his teachings that "Faunus are bad" and… it's never going to end. Jacques goes and turns the SDC into a Faunus hating hellhole, he's putting his legacy into his children… It's not going to end, Sheele! I'm not sure I'm got much patience left before I start going insane!"

More tears fell, her body trembling. "I hate those Schnees so much… okay, I only hate Jacques but it's only going to be a matter of time before I start hatin' that Weiss girl or that… that… Wheatley kid… I don't know if I said his name right but… agh, I hate these racist assholes!"

"Come here." Sheele said as she wrapped her arms around Seryu and pulled her into a hug, stuffing her head in her chest. "Shhhh, it'll be okay, Seryu… you don't deserve any of this…"

"Pardon my interruption." A voice said as they would look to see Esdeath walking to them. "I couldn't help but overhear what's been going on."

"Oh, hey general…" Seryu quietly said.

"I understand your frustrations." Esdeath said as she knelt down. "Believe me, it frustrates me too that the people of Atlas are like this. General Ironwood is going through something similar with one of the Ace Ops. I think his name is Marrow. Really cute, I have to say." She smiled before frowning. "But I do agree… sometimes I feel like Jacques brainwashes the crowd because of his position in his SDC and, of course, people look up to the SDC. Well, from what I've heard, at least…"

"What do you think we should do?" Seryu sniffed.

"Well… if they keep throwing racist insults at you, just ignore them. Tune them out, if you have to. Soon, they'll realize they're insulting a brick wall and… well, go be a sourpuss somewhere else."

Seryu let out a soft smile. "Yeah… yeah, I can try doing that."

Sheele smiled. "We'll be right there with you, Seryu."

The next day, out on patrol

Seryu and Sheele walked around together in the city, chatting amongst themselves when they would hear a commotion going on, where they would see an argument going on. "What's going on there?" Seryu wondered.

"Hmm, probably just a lover's quarrel." Sheele said as they would see the woman slapping the man.

"That's for sleeping with my sister, you pig!"

"A very intense quarrel." Seryu added.

"She's better in bed than you'll ever be, you whore!" He pushed her down into the street, making her fall into a puddle where she almost got hit by a car.

"Oh!" Seryu and Sheele exclaimed and with a nod, the two would run over to intervene.

"Okay, break it up!" Seryu said, getting between the two while Sheele helped the woman up. "There was no need to push a human into the street like that. You almost killed her!"

"Why should I listen to you? Go back to sniffing a fire hydrant, freak!"

"How about you just back away?" Seryu shot back. "Why did you push her down like that?"

"Simple! She doesn't give me the satisfaction I crave compared to her sister."

"You cheated on me!" The woman shot back. "And for the record, my sister didn't like you either, you just forced yourself onto her like that!"

"She was playing hard to get!"

"That's not "hard to get"." Sheele said. "That's practically sexual harrassment!"

"Well, why don't you come closer and I'll show you a thing or two about "sexual"." He smirked.

"Okay! You better get out of here or-"

"Or else you'll do what?" The man interrupted Seryu. "You'd be better off drinking out of a toilet bowl, you filthy mutt!" He would shove Seryu hard, having her fall on her back… and her head smacked right into a fire hydrant.

"SERYU!" Sheele screamed, while the woman gasped in horror.

"How ironic. The dog lies next to the hydrant." He chuckled as Sheele knelt down.

"Seryu… Seryu, wake up! Please, wake up!"

"If they keep throwing racist insults at you, just ignore them. Tune them out, if you have to. Soon, they'll realize they're insulting a brick wall and… well, go be a sourpuss somewhere else."

"If they keep throwing racist insults at you, just ignore them. Tune them out, if you have-"

"If they keep throwing racist insults at you, just ignore-"

"If they keep throwing racist insults at you… give 'em hell. Give everyone hell! All of these scumbags deserve to die anyway."

"Nnngh…" Seryu slowly woke up, rubbing her head.

"Seryu… please tell me you're okay…" Sheele hoped.

"I… I think so…"

"Aw what? The dog didn't die? Too bad. I would've liked that."

"You're an ass!" The woman shouted.

"Yeah, well, this is the world we live in, bitch. Deal with it!"

Killkill… kill! Kill the human. Give him hell!

Intrusive thoughts entered Seryu's mind as she clutched her head, desperately trying to ignore it… but she slowly rose with a shadow over her eyes.

"The human is right about you." Seryu said.

"Hmm?" The man looked at her.

"You are a pig." Seryu suddenly flashed a wicked smirk. "And I say it's time you get sent to the slaughterhouse!" She exclaimed, pulling out her gun and shooting him right in the head, instantly killing him.

"SERYU?!" Sheele yelled in shock while the other woman stood there in disbelief before letting out a terrified scream.

"Heheh… hahahaha…! HAHAHAHAHA! JUSTICE!" She yelled as she turned around and shot the lady in the head without even hesitating. "It's time for these humans to get the justice they so richly deserve!" She exclaimed as she saw a few people walking around.

Kill. Kill. KILL. GIVE THEM HELL.

Seryu quickly shot at them before they even had a chance to react. "Oooh, I never felt so alive!" She said as she ran off.

"SERYU, STOP!" Sheele pleaded as she ran after her as Seryu shot a woman in the car who was doing her makeup, then she went into the park as they would see terrified civilians as they tried to run away, but Seryu touched a street pole and formed an AR-15 as she started to mow down the civilians. "NO!"

"Hahahaha! Oh, this is fantastic!"

"SERYU!" Sheele yelled as Seryu shifted her eyes and turned around, aiming the gun at her. "Seryu… please, stop this!" She begged. "This isn't you!"

"What do you mean this isn't me, human? You're trying to stop me like the filthy human you are!"

"Seryu! I'm not some ordinary human. It's me! Sheele, your best friend!"

End BGM

"Sheele…?" Seryu said aloud before the crazy look in her eyes disappeared. "Wh-wha…?" She wondered as she turned around and saw the chaos that she had committed. Her eyes widened as she dropped the gun. "No… no! What… what have I done…"

"What… Seryu, are-…"

Suddenly, someone came running in as Harriet would pounce on Seryu and held her down. "Got ya!" She said as she pinned her down and threw the handcuffs on her. "No more of tha-… wait, what's this indentation in her head?"

Sheele gasped. "That's why she went crazy… this man pushed her down onto a fire hydrant…"

Harriet's eyes widened. "So you're saying-… we need to take her to a hospital. She needs to be looked at."

The next day

Esdeath walked over to the hospital with the rest of the Winter Ops. "This doesn't make sense. Seryu is like the nicest girl we know. She got along with my daughter so well…" Bols said.

"From what Sheele told us, she hit her head on the fire hydrant. If I were to hold a guess, that would mean that something in her head flipped the switch, causing her to lose control of her mentality." Esdeath said. "Let's just hope it can be fixed."

They would walk into the Atlas Hospital. "Excuse me. Would you mind telling us where Seryu is being held?" Esdeath asked.

"Seryu Ubiquitous? Oh, I'm sorry… didn't you hear the news? She got sent to the mental institution in the middle of the night."

"WHAT?!" Esdeath yelled. "Who authorized this?! Tell me General Ironwood didn't do this!"

"They wouldn't say who they were, but it wasn't General Ironwood."

Esdeath let out a growl. "Let's go."

Once at the mental hospital

"A straight jacket?!" Esdeath said in disbelief.

"That is correct." The doctor nodded.

"She deserves none of that!"

"I'm sorry, but we received orders to put her in there."

"By who's authority!"

"It would be mine." A voice said as they turned to see Jacques walking to her.

"You?" Esdeath glared at him.

"Indeed. She slaughtered countless lives yesterday, did she not? When I heard she went to the hospital, I thought that wasn't good enough for her. Prison isn't good enough for her either, so putting her in the padded room with a straight jacket would do her some good."

"You had no right to-"

"It was very easy to tell the council that we should put this mangy mutt where she truly belongs, as do all faunus. They deserve to all be euthanized."

"The council?! What are you- I'm part of that. So is General Ironwood! We wouldn't-"

"As I recall, you were out eating ice cream with your father in Mantle, correct? You weren't even aware what happened until you came back a few hours later after your so called "Father/daughter" date. It was all the time I needed to manipulate the council. Guess you don't need three seats to get an unanimous vote now, do we?" He smirked.

Esdeath clenched her fists, suddenly pushing Jacques to a wall and holding him by the collar. "Who in the right might would listen to you… unless you paid them like the shitheaded scumbag that you are!"

"Temper temper, Miss Ironwood." Jacques said calmly. "You think I would have the gall to pay them off? Don't be so absurd." He said.

"I can see it in your eyes. You did."

"I might have told them to ignore you and Ironwood's pleas to undo this decision. As far as I'm concerned, Seryu belongs to me. She is no longer part of the Winter Ops. So why don't you run along now"

Esdeath snarled. "Jacques… if I wasn't in the military, I'd kill you right here and now. Hell, I have half a mind to do it anyway!"

"Hmhmhm… you cannot touch me, Esdeath."

"If you lay one finger on her, I SWEAR-"

"You'll do what?"

Esdeath snarled, letting go of Jacques. "Everyone. Let's go. There's nothing we can do." She said and walked off.

"…Come on, Sheele. Let's go." Kurome said.

"But… Seryu… she needs us…" Sheele whispered.

"There's nothing we can do." Bulat mumbled as they walked out as Jacques smirked, looking outside.

"It was a pleasure speaking with you, Esdeath." Jacques said, where Esdeath would respond by flipping him off without even looking. He would then walk into the padded room and looked at Seryu.

"Look at you. All pathetic like the animal you truly are… but no matter. I'll take good care of you." He said as one of the servants from the SDC walked in.

"Sir, your poker."

"Thank you." He said as the letters "SDC" were burning hot. "As of today, you are a property of the Schnee Dust Company." He would unhook her from the straight jacket and tore off her shirt.

"No… no, don't… no!" Seryu whimpered as the poker would singe her skin. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!"

Way later, the day after the mental hospital burned down

Sheele immediately ran into what was left of the mental institution. She had hoped that Seryu wasn't one of the victims. She went into the burnt padded room but found nobody in there. She breathed a sigh of relief… only for fear to take a hold of her as she would turn around and search the hospital, where she would find several bodies scorched from the flames.

"Seryu… please tell me you're not in this mess."

"Nnngh… aaagh…" A voice groaned as Seryu turned around to see someone still barely alive.

"Oh my gosh, are you okay?" She whispered.

"I… I guess I just had some insane amount of luck to survive the flames… heheh… but I guess my luck had run out…"

"Tell me… what caused this mess?"

"Seryu… Seryu did this… along with some goth chick… she freed her from her prison and they both burnt everything down. She slaughtered everyone in her rampage…"

"No… she wouldn't… the Seryu I know wouldn't-"

"She got worse… hah… every day she was in here, Jacques would visit her and torment the hell out of here… and he ordered us to stay out of it lest we lose our jobs… she's gone mental… the Seryu you know? She's long gone… and this… monster is all that remains…" He let out a cough. "Please… do us all a favor and… kill her before she kills more… innocents…" He took one last breath before passing.

Tears fell from Sheele's cheeks. "No… no, she wouldn't… she's not a monster, she's… she's…!"

"Gone." A voice said somberly as Sheele turned around to see Kurome. "She's gone…" She would approach Sheele and knelt down next to her. "And we couldn't do anything about it…" She said as she wrapped her arms around Sheele as she started sobbing uncontrollably.

Ibuki: Yikes...

Mhm. I wanted to do something in the present at the end of the chapter, but unfortunately, I couldn't think of anything that'd make sense so I felt it'd be best to end it there.
