Meanwhile, in the Paper Universe

BGM: Professor E. Gadd (Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon)

"Eureka!" E. Gadd exclaimed. "I've finally done it. With this Ruby Tracker 9000, we'll be able to find the lost huntress and bring her back to us!"

"Awesome!" Jade smiled.

"Now just turn this on…" E. Gadd pressed the button. "Now with this, if it beeps… we'll know she's close by." He said as the radar started beeping. "Oh! She's close… she's reeeeally close… heck, she's… right behind me? Wait, when she did she split into several Rubies?"

"Uh… grandpa?" Jade pointed behind him as he turned around to see a few rubies on the ground.

"Oooooh, I had it track actual rubies… my bad." He said, rubbing his head sheepishly while causing Jade to sweatdrop.

"Oh, gramps…" Jade shook her head, and then suddenly the lights went out. "What the…?"

"Ooooh, did the power go out again?"

"You did pay the electric bill, right?"

"Of course I did!" E. Gadd nodded. "If anything, your grandmother probably bumped the generator and-" The lights came back on. "Oh, never mind!"

"Weird…" Jade rubbed her head, both of them unaware that an object was missing from their desk.

Meanwhile

BGM: Flipside (Super Paper Mario)

"Hmhmhmhm…" Merlon hummed, as he swept the front yard of his home. "There we go. All taken care of." He said as he turned around to go back into his home, but stopped. "…I sense a presence." He turned around to see Chaos Ruby flipping into the dimension.

"…Merlon."

"R-Ruby?! How did you manage to get in-between dimensions?!"

"Stole this from that scientist when he wasn't looking. We need to talk."

"About what?"

"YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!" She yelled, lifting him up telekinetically and throwing him into his house.

"Mmmph…" Merlon shook it off as Ruby walked in. "My goodness, it really did take a toll on you. Hunched over, baggage over your eyes, your blue hair's longer…"

Ruby glanced over at the Light Prognosticus. She let out a growl and grabbed it. "You've ruined my life… you've turned me into THIS!"

"N-Now now, Ruby… I'm not the one who did this. Dimentio coaxed you into touching the Chaos Heart! I was hoping you would have been cured by now…"

"Nothing can cure me… it's hopeless. I'm a shell of my former self, I'm all alone… AND IT'S ALL JUST A BUNCH OF BULLSHIT! All because of this… this… prophetic nightmare!" She opened it up.

"You must understand, the Dark Prognosticus had the same prophecies, but the Light Prognosticus was meant to be more optimistic!"

"THEN EXPLAIN THIS!" She screamed, flipping to the back page.

"A hero will fall into despair and will succumb to the temptations of the Chaos Heart."

"I was not the one who wrote this prophecy. I had only found out about this when you had gone to Castle Bleck. Had I known earlier, I would have given you all motivation to resist the temptations of it."

"You're just saying that…" Tears ran down her cheeks. "You're just making up excuses now… trying to put my mind at ease!"

"Ruby… I had no intention to bring you here just to make you suffer. You've got to believe me."

"I shouldn't have come… I should've just stayed at Beacon where I would've been happier…"

"But you would've been killed by the Void! …True, you would've come back alive but-"

"At least I would have had peace. Because of everything that's happened… rrrgh… it makes me sick."

"Ruby, please… just calm down. I can put your mind at ease and-"

"No. I've come here for another reason." She walked out. "I'm going to have a little talk with the Ancients."

"The Ancients?! But they're all asleep!"

"Then I'm going to wake them up myself."

Meanwhile

BGM: Soft Light (Super Paper Mario)

"Bored…" Merlumina mumbled. "Booooooooooored!" She said as she wandered around the room. "Ugh… you give the whole spiel to those heroes and now you can't fall back asleep. Apparently haunting people at Yold Town can't cure my boredom… uuuugh. Maybe I should haunt Bestovius…"

The doors swung open. "MERLUMINA!"

"Wah!" Merlumina yelped. "What the heck! You nearly gave me a ghost heart attack! …I'm not sure that's a thing but it might as well be a… thing… Ruby? By the ancients, what happened to you?"

"ZIP IT!" Ruby yelled. "You wrote this book of so-called prophecies, didn't you!"

"What are you-" Merlumina spotted the book. "Oh… oh no… you succumbed to the Chaos Heart, didn't you? Crud… I was thinking the man in green would've succumbed to it. Chaos… Green…? I mean, he would become the perfect host to the Chaos Hear-"

"ANSWER THE DAMN QUESTION!"

"Okay okay okay! I, indeed, wrote the book, but unfortuately, Merloo took all the credit as the author. We both wrote that book together."

Ruby snarled. "So you're the one who wrote that damned message in the back… how I would succumb to the temptations of the Chaos Heart!"

"Okay, let me explain! I meant to write more to that. Unfortunately, I got asked out on a date and I said yes because he was so cute, then we dated for a while and I completely forgot about the book of prophecies. I was engaged because he was such a dreamboat but unfortunately, he bailed at the last minute because he wasn't ready for that type of commitment, I mean, CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?! The nerve of that guy! Ugh, so I had to drown my sorrows in ice cream for a month… I highly recommend Moose Tracks, it really helps the ol' sorrowed soul-"

"NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR FUCKING LIFE STORIES! We all fell asleep when you first rambled on when we needed the Pure Heart, but we denied it becaue it was the polite thing to do! Now I've run out of patience."

"WOW! Hurtful! …But I did have my suspicions. Mario snores so loudly, I thought for sure he'd wake up the other Ancients."

"Get to the point. You said there was going to be more?"

"Yes. By the time I remembered to finish up the prophecy, Merloo thought I had finished and he published that bad boy. Uuuugh! Loser… I wasn't finished!"

"…So what was more to this prophecy?"

"From what I had seen in a vision… bear with me, it's been a millennia and a half…" She closed her eyes. "Okay, got it: A hero will fall into despair and will succumb to the temptations of the Chaos Heart. However, when all hope seems lost, a hero from a different dimension will come and save this hero from despair, bringing her hope once more. She will also be cured by sparkling stones and heavenly beings, turning the Hero of Chaos into a Hero of Balance and Light, bathing in a glorious light that is bright as the sun."

"…You're lying…"

"Beg your pardon?"

"You're just saying that just to appease my mind… but it's not working! You just said all that out of your ass! I don't believe you!"

"I always thought there was more to that." Merlon said as he walked in. "It puzzled me why it would stop there."

Tears ran down Ruby's cheeks. "You all ruined my life… YOU ALL RUINED IT! Because of YOU, I was brought here to stop the Void! I wish you had just left me alone!"

"But Flipside and all the other worlds would've been lost without your help!"

"Maybe the dimension in-between should've been destroyed in the first place…"

End BGM

BGM: World of Nothing (Super Paper Mario)

"Wh-what?!" Merlon said in shock. "Ruby, surely you're not-"

"LOOK AT ME!" She yelled, her voice breaking. "You sent me here just to destroy me!" She turned to Merlumina. "And YOU wrote that book out of spite of this one hero. ME!"

"I did no such thi-"

A dark aura surrounded Ruby. "I ought to destroy the both of you… you all deserve so much pain. And when I'm done… Beacon's next. OZPIN DID THIS TO ME!"

"Ruby… take a deep breath. I get that you are hurting but this is not the answer. Please, just give me the Light Prognosticus back. We can head home and you can earn a well deserved nap."

"The one thing I deserve is getting my life back…"

"And you will! Just give me the book."

"…You want your book? Fine, you can have it." She gave the book back to Merlon, but blue flames erupted out of it.

"NO!" Merlon yelled.

"My word!" Merlumina exclaimed as it turned into ashes immediately after.

"Ruby… what have you done…?"

"I'm no longer Ruby… I'm just Chaos." She said, disappearing in a blink of an eye.

"Ooooh, I've worked so hard on that! Ugh… what did this Chaos Heart do to her?"

"It twisted her mind and the more she despairs, the more chaotically powerful she'll get." Merlon closed his eyes. "I hope this hero comes soon."

"So do I." Merlumina nodded as Merlon turned around and walked back home.

…But as he went back to Flipside, he would see that his home was on fire. "My word! She's truly gone off the deep end…"

End BGM

Back at E. Gadd's lab…

"Blast it! I said Ruby Rose, not a painting of her!" E. Gadd said. "Good grief…"

"Um, gramps?" Jade spoke up.

"Yes?"

"Where's the 2D Dimensional Flipper? It's gone!"

"What?" E. Gadd turned around. "Well, that can't be right… I could've sworn it was just here! Ooooh, did I misplace it and put it somewhere stupid?" He wondered before getting an idea and laughed. "Oh, it's probably just Rotom pulling a prank and hid it somewhere where we can't find it."

"Roto?" Rotom tilted his body in confusion.

"Oh, you little rascal. What are we gonna do with you?" He chuckled. "Oh well, I'm not worried about it. It's not like anyone else took it for their own agenda or anything. No one's that crazy!"

"I hope you're right…" Jade nodded.

Meanwhile, back in the main universe

"Hmm…" Dimentio rested on a tree branch and looked up into the sky. "Why do I have this feeling I just missed something spectacular?" He wondered before shrugging it off. "Eh, it's probably nothing."

Ibuki: She's really given up on hope... *flipping off Dimentio*

Pretty much...
