Five Years Ago
Deep in a lush forest, there was a labor village owned by the SDC. A large group of Faunus lived there under the watchful eye of three men who worked with Jacques Schnee.
The men were harsh, yet were kind enough to offer food for those who worked in the mines to collect dust for the SDC.
Inside this village was a family who had worked just as tirelessly in the mines nearby to collect dust crystals.
The father of this family had an armadillo shell, also having short brown hair and dark green eyes, slightly tanned due to working in the mines. He had a lot of old brown mine worker clothes, but when he's not working, he tends to wear a white shirt and dark green pants. He stood about two hundred centimeters (6'6 feet) tall and was seen as the leader of the village.
This armadillo faunus was none other than Oliver Moss.
His wife wore long curly hair, tan just like her husband due to working in the mines, standing around at 165 centimeters (5'4 feet) tall and typically either wore mining gear or a white shirt with dark green overalls that acts as a dress for her, typically wearing it for when she was cooking or when she was having a meeting with her fellow Faunus. She was also a bear faunus.
This bear faunus's name was Ophelia Chloros-Moss.
Ophelia hummed as she cooked some food, adding in some plants in her food. "Oh… this isn't fully grown." She said as she put her hand on the plant, her hand glowing as the plant glowed as well, where it became full grown. "Much better!"
She turned her head right after, seeing a little three year old boy having walked into the kitchen. "Oh hi sweetie!" She smiled. "Lunch will be ready soon, okay?"
Oran nodded happily, having a sparkle in his eyes as he walked over to the kitchen table and sat on the chair, pulling out a coloring book and happily colored.
Just outside…
"Aaagh!" A Faunus fell on his back.
"Let that be a lesson to anyone who decides to challenge me."
"Hey!" Oliver approached them with an annoyed look on his face. "Just what the hell do you think you're doing?"
"This Faunus had the audacity to say "They deserve better than working in our slave mines", called me a fascist while he was at it, so I decided to put him in his place."
A growl escaped Oliver's lips as he knelt down, helping the warthog faunus up. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine… kinda." He mumbled.
Oliver turned back to the man. "You're a real ass, you know that?"
"Look, you work in the mines, you collect dust crystals, we give you food. I don't know what the big deal is!" He said.
"You know… for a man named Honest, you're not the most honest person on the planet." He sneered.
"I find that appropriately ironic, don't you think?"
"Come on, let's go." Oliver said, pushing the warthog faunus away as he glared back at Honest who was giving him a slimeballed smile.
"Tch, ungrateful animals… you'd think they'd know their place." Honest turned around and walked toward the mine, seeing two people walk out.
"I don't see why we can't have some fun with some of these animals, especially these faunus ladies… they're all just ripe for the taking."
"Hmph, you and your "ways"."
"Status report, Syura and Zanku. How's our "guest" holding up in these mines?"
"Well, as you know, it was unmined just a few days ago in the mines and everyone is afraid to get near the thing. Not that I blame them, even I get unnerved by that creature." Syura mentioned.
"And not only that, it seems to be stirring in its sleep. It appears to be waking up soon." Zanku said.
"Hmm…" Honest mused. "Perhaps it is best for us to leave. Leave these animals for that beast." He pulled out his scroll.
"Hello?"
"Jacques, it's us."
"Honest! How great to hear from you, my good man. How are the animals faring?"
"It's awful, for those pathetic animals anyway. A massive King Taijitu came in and wiped everyone out. There are no survivors, however we managed to get away from the onslaught."
"They are in a better place. Glad the population of these beasts are in check. Never in my life would I ever praise a Grimm but here we are." Jacques chuckled. "I will send a Bullhead to your location. You have the dust crystals?"
"Ooooh, we have plenty, Jacques!"
"Good. Your evacuation will come in a few hours. Hang tight!"
Jacques hung up as Zanku and Syura smikred at Honest. "Game, set, and match." Honest smirked. "Syura, you do have the gunpowder, correct?"
"Yup, have a few boxes filled with it!"
"Good, along with those explosive dust crystals, we'll make a makeshift alarm clock." Honest said. "Few hours until they come along to pick us up? Why not make the most of it, boys?"
A few hours later…
"Just a little bit more…" Syura dumped the gun powder at the entrance of the cave, then he disposed of it by throwing it into some bushes. "Syura to Zanku, how are you doing over there?" He asked via walkie talkie.
"Rock a bye snake on the tree top~ When the explosion howls, meals you will get~" He sang as the King Taijitu was fast asleep from the singing. "Zanku to Syura, boxes are lined up with the dust crystals instead of them. Either this works or the snake dies."
"Either way, we get out of here in style. Now get back over here so we can go out with a bang."
Zanku nodded, quickly getting out of there as he met up with Syura, then Honest approached them. "Are the preparations ready?" He asked.
"Yes."
"Then light it up." Honest said with a sadistic sparkle in his eyes as Syura pulled out a match, lit it up and applied the flame to the gunpowder, where it started to move along the gunpowder trail.
"Aaaand we're off to the races!" Syura smirked.
Honest turned his head to see a Bullhead flying in. "Right on schedule." He said. "Come, let us go." The three of them walked to their ship, as the side doors opened revealing Ironwood and Esdeath. "Ah! James! Esdeath! Good to see you both!"
"Huh?" Esdeath looked at the village. "The village looks intact."
"Ah, but this snake tends to leave the architecture alone while going in for the kill!" Honest said.
"…Are you sure?" Ironwood raised an eyebrow. "Maybe we can just take a peek real quick."
"No no, no need to do that, you won't see any survivors in there. Come! Let us head back to Atlas and have ourselves a hearty feast!"
Meanwhile, in the mines…
"Hmm?" A miner spotted the trail of gunpowder. "What in…?" He wondered as he saw the flame go by. "That's peculiar…" He mused as he followed the flame out of curiosity… and then saw where it was headed. He immediately paled and quickly ran over to the flame, quickly stomping on it with his foot in an attempt to extinguish it.
"Ha." He quietly smirked, but this his shoe started to smoke and catch ablaze. "Ack!" He yelped, pulling away and blowing the fire out of his shoe. "Aaaah…" He quickly turned around to see the fire dangerously close to the explosives. He immediately paled as his eyes widened in horror. A cold bead of sweat ran down his forehead.
Back outside…
Esdeath and Ironwood looked suspiciously at each other. "Now let's go and-"
BOOOOOOOM!
The whole place rumbled as a result. "Oh dear, it seems to be a mining accident. Step on it!" Honest ordered.
"But shouldn't we check it out? There might be a few survivors." The pilot pointed out.
"NOW!"
"Alright, alright! Chill… geez…" The pilot mumbled as the ship flew up and flew away from the ship while Ironwood and Esdeath eyed the men suspiciously.
"You sure it was just a mining accident?" Ironwood asked.
"Yes. One hundred percent." Syura said with a seemingly innocent smile.
"Hmm… very well." Esdeath glared, not buying it for one second as they disappeared.
Back at the village..
"Odd, we don't normally get powerful earthquakes here." Ophelia mused as she walked outside when she heard people panicking. "What's all the commotion?"
"SNAKE! BIG ASS SNAKE COMING OUT OF THE MINES!"
BGM: Emergency (Astral Chain)
"What?! The same one that we avoided for days?!" Ophelia said in horror as they heard a giant pissed off hisssss from the Grimm. The King Taijitu slithered through the village, looking massively bigger compared to other Taijitus. It also had a large bone crown on top of its head while the top of its body is covered in thick black skin that acts as armor for it while having bony spikes all over its body to act as defense.
This was one of Salem's first experiments with Grimm, known as The Devastator.
"Oh my gosh…"
"Ophelia!" Oliver ran toward her. "We need to get our weapons, and fast! We need to take down this snake!"
"Right!" Ophelia nodded as they ran inside, and as they did, Oran looked completely confused as to what's going on. Ophelia turned to him and instinctively picked him up, quickly running into his room and placing him under his bed. "Stay right here, Oran. We'll be right back, okay?"
Oran nodded obediently.
"Good. Mommy loves you." She kissed him on the forehead and ran out the door to get her weapon. Oran let out a scared whimper.
Outside…
Oliver went out with his shotgun. "We might lose this village, but dammit, we'll save a lot of people!" He said to himself as he heard the sounds of the Taijitu attacking the villagers. "Ben! Jack! John! We need to take this snake down! Guys?" He called out to his fellow faunus and spotted the trio all sprawled out on the ground. His eyes widened in horror as he ran toward them. "No… no no no no no NO NO!" He yelled as he saw one of them still moving. He quickly moved to him. "Ben? Ben! Speak to me, man!"
"Oliver… it… it's not just the Grimm… it's-"
BANG!
A shotgun shell hit him in the chest, killing him instantly.
"It was me."
End BGM
Oliver turned to the assailant. His eyes went from shock to anger in an instant. "DONOVAN!"
BGM: Tension (Super Mario Galaxy)
"Sup?" He greeted, casually tossing the shotgun away. "Been a while, hasn't it?"
"Rrrgh… I knew you were rotten from the start, but why are you doing this? Shouldn't you be helping us take this thing down?"
"Now where's the fun in that? Delaying all this carnage and destruction? Don't make me laugh… that is just redundant."
Oliver aimed his shotgun at Donovan. "I'm giving you one chance… help us or you will go back in that prison cell!"
"Oh, the same prison cell that you left me to rot inside for the past two years, all because I tried to kill your son? Hahahahahaha! Oh, you can try, but there isn't much left of it, just like how there isn't much left of the guards!"
Oliver snarled, pulling the trigger but Donovan swiftly dodged and rushed at him, dodging another shot as he grabbed Oliver by the throat. "Nnngh!" He grunted, trying to grasp free as he felt weaker. "How… how do I feel…?"
"You like it? It's a new thing I learned, I managed to unlock my semblane while rotting away at that cell. Came real in handy when I tried to escape. I call it… Drain. I don't think I need to tell you what this does!" He said, continuing to drain him as Oliver looked weaker and frailer by the second. "Hmm, that should be enough." He said, dropping the faunus to the ground.
"You… you won't… get away with this…" He said as he was just skin and bones by this point.
"Perhaps… but who's gonna stop me? You? Pffft, you're just skin and bones! HAHAHAHAHA! The village is already gone, so who's going to save yo-" A crossbow bolt hit him in the back. "Rrrrgh!" He growled, turning around to see Ophelia with an angry look in her eyes. "Ah, Ophelia. I was wondering where you ran off to."
"Donovan… stand down. I will not hesitate to shoot you again if I have to!"
Donovan cockily raised his hands in the air. "Oh no, I wouldn't dream of angering you, mama bear." He then started laughing maniacally.
"What's so funny?"
"Oh nothing, just the fact that we're just standing here while the villagers are being eaten alive by the Grimm. Villagers that you two could have saved! But here we are, wasting valuable time by having this little stand off."
"If it means stopping you, then so be it! Now stay still, one movement and I shoot you again. One wrong move and I'll tear you apart with my bare hands."
"Fair enough." Donovan smirked as Ophelia moved closer. "Hey Ophelia. CATCH!" He picked up Oliver and threw her into Ophelia.
"Oooof!" She grunted, which was enough to stun her as Donovan pulled the bolt out of his back as he lunged at Ophelia and started to drain her, healing his wounds. Ophelia tried to fight back with her bear claws coming out and she tried to maul him, but she was too weak to try and scratch him at that point.
End BGM
"Aaaaah, that feels so good…" He chuckled as he smirked at Ophelia. "Tell me… where's little Oran?"
"As if… as if I'd ever tell you…!"
"Shame… cause I hear the snake coming back for seconds. I could have saved him from starvation! I'm sure he would have made a great little brother… but alas, you sentenced him to death. Some parents you turned out to be."
"You will pay for what you've done…"
"Maybe I will, maybe I won't. What matters here is that no one will be able to undo what has been done here." He then turned to Oliver who was struggling to stay alive. "And what about you?"
"Even… even if it's beyond the grave… we will ensure that you will die for what you did."
"Sure you will. Anyway, I'll be headed off now. Have fun being snake food. Ciao!" He walked off with a spring in his step.
"DONOVAN! You won't get away with this! We'll make sure you burn in the deepest pits of hell! Count on it!" Ophelia screamed at him.
"Hmhmhmhm…" Donovan hummed as he heard loud hissing as he smirked, relishing in the sounds of those two being devoured by the snake as he disappeared into the shrubbery. Once he was at the outskirts, he gave the village one last look. "I'm gonna miss this place… oh well, let's see what this new bad boy can do." He said, referring to his new semblance as he disappeared into the night.
Meanwhile, in the Pokemon world…
"Arceus! Arceus!" Mesprit flew over to Arceus.
"Ah, little Mesprit. What seems to be the trouble?"
"It's horrible! Dialga and Palkia are having another territorial dispute!"
Arceus groaned. "Again? Oi…" He mumbled as he went off. "I can't leave those two alone for five minutes."
At the battlefield, Dialga let out a loud cry while Palkia let out his loud cry where Dialga unleashed Roar of Time as Palkia unleashed Spacial Rend, the two of them colliding into each other and unleashing an explosion.
A few Teddiursa, Pidgeotto, Eevee, Sylveon, Floette, and Zarude tried to flee from the onslaught but were caught in the radius and they disappeared.
All of them were trapped in space time, falling through the void as they would all start to glow a few moments later until they found themselves in Remnant.
The scared Pokemon looked around in a panic as they all fled into the woods, yet the Zarude looked around in curiosity and turned the other way to examine this strange world.
A few days went by as the Zarude stumbled across an abandoned ruined village. As she looked around, something in her gut was telling her that someone may still be alive in this village. She didn't know what happened, but all she cared about was that she followed her instinct.
She looked around, seeing skeletons of Faunus laid about in the village as buildings were destroyed. As she kept walking, she heard the sound of someone crying. She quickly hurried into the building and lookedi inside, seeing it already run down and destroyed by the Grimm's onslaught. She even spotted a note and looked into it.
"Dear Oran-"
She didn't bother reading the rest, as she turned around to hear the sound of a child crying. She dropped the note and walked into the room where the source of crying was heard. She opened up the closet and saw no one inside, then she heard sniffling as she moved closer and looked underneath to see Oran.
"Zaru…" She whispered as Oran looked up. His eyes widened as he let out a scream. "Ru! Ru! Zaru Ru!" She said but then had an idea and started to speak in sign language. ["It's okay, little one. I won't hurt you."]
Oran stopped crying as he stared at the Pokemon before he crawled out. He hesitantly looked her in the eye as she reached out for him. He reached for hers, but pulled away in hesitance, but he looked at her, seeing that she had gentle eyes as he softly took her hand, which she in turn gave him a soft, gentle, motherly hug to which he buried his head into her furry chest.
["You must be Oran."] She signed once Oran felt much safer and comfortable around her. ["My name is Kala."]
Oran took her hand once again as the Zarude picked him up and placed him on her back. ["Come, we are getting out of this village. We will find a better place to live, even if it means living in the forest."]
Oran nodded as Kala wandered out of the home and wandered out of the village where the both of them took one last look at the village before disappearing deep in the woods.
Shout out to Log for coming up with this Gaiden idea!
Ibuki: Poor kiddo... no one deserves to go through that. *glaring at Honest* You and your boys are gonna pay for that, especially that Donovan brat!
All of them will.
