The Night After Everyone Returned Home
"No… no, what the hell is going on?!" Gloria yelled, seeing all of Galar ablaze as she was in her Primal form. Everything around her was on fire, people and Pokemon that weren't Fire types were on fire and trying to put themselves out. Unfortunately, even the lakes themselves were on fire.
Gloria heard several explosions behind her as she would see towns disintegrating as she hugged herself. "No… no, I was just tryin' ta stop the Grimm that came into town…"
Tears fell from her eyes, evaporating when they rolled down her hot blue cheeks as she fell on her knees that caused a shockwave to go around the Wild Area and disintegrated all of Galar.
"AAAAH!" Gloria yelped, swiftly sitting up on her bed and panting. A cold sweat rolled down her forehead. "What… what the fock was that…" She wondered to herself as she looked at the clock, seeing it was 5:30 AM.
Gloria rubbed her head as she laid back down, but couldn't fall back asleep. Her mind was racing as she wondered what the hell just happened. She raised her hand up and looked at it before she lowered it. She even felt her forehead to see if she was running a fever.
What even was that…? She thought to herself as ideas raced in her mind. Was it those cookies that I ate last night? Was it that horror movie that I decided to watch? Those crumpets? Did that steak not sit well with me?
As she was deep in thought, her alarm went off that made her jump as she turned her head to see it was 7 AM. "...Must've been that deep in thought…" She mumbled to herself as she turned it off and stretched. "Probably nothin'..." She said to herself.
A few hours later, Gloria walked out of her home after eating breakfast and smelled the air, then she walked through the village without a care in the world.
"Gloria!"
Gloria turned her head to see Hop running over to her. "Hey lad."
"Is it true?"
"Huh?"
"Is it true that you went under Primal Reversion? Marnie mentioned it to me last night."
Gloria chuckled. "Yup, I did."
"...That is both cool and utterly terrifying. I want to see it! Of course, you probably have to go in your Groudon form."
"Actually, I was still in Primal form when I shrunk back down."
"Wait, really? Well, at least you don't have to become a giant and scare everyone." Hop chuckled as Gloria closed her eyes and went into her Primal form. "Holy shite, mate!"
"Impressive, eh?"
"Yeah! …Although I think you're wilting a few flowers."
"Huh?" Gloria turned her head to see a few flowers wilting.
"Not to mention I'm already dyin' from heat. Phew!" Hop fanned himself. "Must be that Drought ability kickin' in! No, wait, is it Drought?"
"I think it's Desolate Land."
"Ooooh, right! ...By the way, I think that fence just caught on fire."
Gloria turned back to normal. "Sorry about that, lad." She then went into her Empoleon form and used Hydro Pump to extinguish the flames.
"Nah, don't worry about it. Pretty cool, if I say so myself… a bit terrifying but awesome." Hop chuckled.
"Ye should've seen the Grimm. They were melting when I was near 'em!"
"Can you melt Salem? Put her in a lemonade jug and flush her down the drain."
Gloria laughed. "Oh, that'd be embarrassin' for her!"
"Sure, she'd revive but hey, at least we get a good laugh." Hop grinned. "Alright, come on, let's go see what Bede's up to."
Later that night…
"Aaaaah!" Hop screamed as he was on fire.
"Hop!" Gloria reached out to him, trying desperately to put out the flames that were everywhere, but they couldn't be put out. "Hop, stay with me!"
"I… I'm not… holding this against ya…!" Hop winced as the flames consumed him.
"HOP!"
"This is all your fault!" A voice said as Gloria turned around to see Bede folding his arms while he was also on fire. "If you hadn't gone Primal in the Grimm World, you wouldn't be burning everything to the damn ground!"
"No, I can fix this!" Gloria exclaimed.
"You've already done enough… some champion you've turned out to be." He said as he disintegrated in the flames as everything burned down around her as a fiery version of herself emerged from the flames, smirking at her as she lunged directly at her.
"AAAAH!" Gloria screamed, sitting up from her bed and panting. "Wot…" She wiped the sweat from her forehead as she looked at her clock. 3:25 AM.
Gloria immediately grabbed her Rotom phone and immediately called Hop. "Come on, pick up pick up pick up…"
"Mmm… me'llow…?"
"Hop! Oh thank Arceus…"
"Gloria, what's goin' on… it's the middle of the night…"
"I… I just wanted to see if yer okay. Ye didn't burn down, did ye?"
"...What?"
"Sorry, stupid question… look out yer window. Is everything on fire?"
"...Yes, everything's on fire. Hell, I see a Paldean Ho-Oh unleashing Sacred Fire onto the region. It's armageddon."
"...Yer messin' with me, aren't ye? Are ye even lookin' out the window?"
Silence.
"Hop?"
More silence as Gloria flipped her phone around to see that he hung up. "Of course he hung up on me…"
She would then immediately call Bede. "Come on, pick up pick up pick up…"
"Hey, It's Bede. Go away."
Gloria sweatdropped in annoyance. "Ugh, couldn't he have picked a better voice message…"
She then decided to call Bea. "...Probably won't answer."
"Hello?"
"Bea? What are you doin' wide awake?"
"I could ask you the same thing."
"...Wait, why do I hear screaming?"
"Oh, Korrina wanted to do a horror movie all nighter and I'm loaded up on caffeine. Allister loaded up on it too, but he conked out around midnight. He's so cute with his head on my lap."
"Babe, you're gonna miss the best part!"
"Oh! Sorry hon. I gotta go. …Wait, why are you still up?"
"Had a nightmare. Burned everyone to the ground and I was worried…"
"Welp, I can safely say I'm not a pile of ashes right now. …Can't say the same for this poor sucker on the TV screen though. Ooooh, that'll leave a mark. Anyway, gotta go."
Gloria sighed. "...Horror movie all nighter? That's dumb." She mumbled to herself while shaking her head as she lay back down and sighed, falling back asleep before gasping. "Marn! I forgot to call Marn!" She immediately grabbed her Rotom Phone again before it dawned on her. "...What am I doing? She swims in lava, she's fine." Gloria went back to sleep.
The next morning…
Gloria's Rotom Phone went off, startling Gloria awake. "Gah!" She yelped as she turned to see her phone ringing as she answered it. "Hello?"
"Is there any reason why you called me in the middle of the night?"
"Oh, hey Bede…"
"I need to know why."
"Oh… I was just… uh… sleep calling! Yeah."
"...Sleep calling?"
"Yeah, it's like sleep walking but ye call someone in yer sleep. Ye should try it sometime!"
"Are you okay? You sound a bit… off."
"No no, I'm fine. Don't worry about it. Bye!"
With Bede…
Bede looked at his Rotom Phone with a raised eyebrow. "...Weirdo." He mumbled.
Back with Gloria…
Gloria walked into the bathroom, splashing water on her face from the sink and looked at herself in the mirror where she immediately went primal form out of curiosity. "...No, I feel and look the same… kinda." She said as she went back to normal, not noticing that the washcloth near her had singed a little.
She dried up her face and went downstairs. "You feelin' okay, hon?" Her mother asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine… why do ye ask?"
"I heard you screaming two nights in a row. It's a bit concerning."
"I'm fine, mum. I just… got startled awake."
"Hmm… you sure?"
"Yes."
"Well, alright… if you say so." Something's not right… but I won't pry unless she wants to.
Once Gloria finished breakfast, she walked out of her home and pulled out her Rotom Phone, immediately texting someone.
"Hey."
"Huh? Oh, Gloria… you rarely ever text me. This is a surprise."
"Yeah, it is."
"What's up?"
"Remember the dream you had, lad?"
"The same one that I kept having until it turned out to be a Dive to the Heart, as Sora calls it? Yeah… why?"
"What did you do when you kept having that same dream?"
"Well, I just dealt with it, I suppose… drove me crazy a few times but I remember my girls planting themselves in my dream so they could analyze it. Then I got my Keyblade and… thankfully, I've had different dreams now. Though I'll miss that Rawk Hawk guy…"
"I see…"
"What, are you having the same dreams too?"
"Well, nightmares… I've had 'em twice in a row now."
"Hmm… okay, I'll send my girls over tonight and they can sleep with you."
Gloria blushed a deep red. "No no no! The only chest I want to be smothered in is Marn's!"
"LOL! Relax, I'm just messing with you. Although you're missing out. Being sandwiched by those two is heavenly."
"DUDE!"
"Alright, alright, I'll stop. Lmao. Anyway, frequent nightmares?"
"Yeah… it's the same thing with my Primal form."
"Hmm, it could just be a coincidence. Although if it happens a third time, maybe swing by the Rose/Xiao Long/Branwen house? I'm sure Byleth might have an idea."
"I don't think there's anything wrong with me."
"That's what we all say."
"I'm telling you, I'm perfectly okay."
Later that night…
Gloria watched the Mushroom Kingdom burn ablaze around her. Trees were on fire and burning, Peach's Castle collapsed, Toad Town was wiped off the map, Gloria could hear everyone screaming as she tried to extinguish the flames but nothing happened.
"I… I didn't mean to! I thought the Nevermores and Deathstalkers needed to be puddles! I didn't mean to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom!"
"Speak for yourself." A voice said as Gloria turned around to see Umber on a lawn chair cooking a marshmallow. "I've found the perfect flame to roast a marshmallow! Want one?" He asked before he disintegrated in the flames as she saw the same fiery version of herself approaching her as Gloria took a step back in fear, and then it lunged at her.
"AAAAH!" Gloria screamed, sitting up from her bed and panting. She let out a groan. "Fockin' hell, not again…"
Later in the morning, after breakfast, Gloria walked out while texting Umber.
"So… Byleth, you say?"
"Had another nightmare?"
"Pretty much."
"Same thing?"
"Yes."
"Yeah, Byleth."
Gloria immediately went into her Latias form and flew off.
Once at Patch…
"Hmm…" Bereto folded his arms. "That's interesting…"
"Yeah, it is…" Gloria mumbled. "I'm also surprised Byleth isn't here."
"Eh, she's busy planning out her wedding with Dorothea." Bereto said. "But, anyway, you have these constant nightmares all revolving around your Primal form, right?"
"Yeah, and the strange thing is, I can go into it without going into my Groudon form." She said and then before Bereto asked, Gloria went into it.
"Fascinating…" Bereto mused. "Also, you got hotter." He added as Gloria extinguished herself.
"I've had nightmares before… but… not three times in a fockin' row."
Bereto rubbed his chin. "I wonder… I did overhear you wondering if you overdid it back at the Grimm World. Could it be that you're worried about it?"
"Me? Worried?" Gloria scoffed. "Ha! Good one, I ain't worried about anythin'."
"But these nightmares all revolve around your Primal form. You mentioned to Marnie that you worried that you went overboard. Not to mention you tend to melt things when you're in that form, like what you did to those Grimm."
"Yeah, I know… blue fire's hot, cut me some slack."
"I have a theory about this. Sometimes when you worry about something, you tend to have nightmares over it. It's pretty common. Tests, deadlines, hoping the wedding goes smoothly as possible, doctor appointments and so on. You could just be worried about your Primal form in general."
"I'm not worried about it…"
"What goes on in these nightmares?"
"Everything burning to a crisp, my friends disintegrating… recently, I'm seeing my Primal form face to face and it lunges at me before I wake up screaming…"
"Hmm… and along with you wondering if you've overdone it… yup, this definitely sounds like you're worrying about your Primal form."
"I'm not!" She insisted. "I don't worry about anything!"
"It's perfectly healthy to be worried. It's natural. What's not healthy is pretending that you're not worried about anything. If you'd just open up, I'm sure it'll be okay in the end."
Gloria sighed. "I'm not sure if it'll help…"
"Well, better to be open about it than keeping it bottled up. Maybe open up to someone close to you, like Marnie."
"Mmm…" Gloria sighed. "I… I got nothing to worry about. Maybe it'll blow over soon." She said as she turned around. "...Sorry lad." She said and walked off.
"Hmm…" Bereto rubbed his chin. "Definitely worried… she doesn't want to admit it though." He chuckled. "I've a feeling she'll admit it soon enough."
"Worried about it, yeah right… I'm not worried…" Gloria mumbled to herself.
Her Rotom Phone went off as Gloria pulled it out of her pocket, seeing that it was Marnie that had texted her.
"Hey. You wanna cuddle tonight?"
"Oh, I'd love to!"
"Awesome!"
"Your place?"
"Of course. See you soon!"
Gloria took a deep breath, exhaling. "Alright, probably spending time with Marn will get my mind off things." She said, going into her Latias form and flying off.
She landed in front of her apartment a few minutes later as Gloria knocked on the door, then Marnie opened it up. "Wow, that was fast!"
"I was in the neighborhood." Gloria winked as the two embraced and shared a kiss, then she walked in.
"...Hey, you feelin' okay? You look a little different."
"Nah, I'm okay." Gloria waved it off and then noticed Marnie only had one arm. "Uh… where's your arm?"
"Cleaning it. Had a bunch of Grimm gunk on it. Kamek dropped by earlier to add some of his flair to the wash. Should be completely washed out in like… two to three hours."
"Never thought I'd see that arm getting dirty."
"Hey, it happens." Marnie shrugged as the two sat down on the couch. "You sure you're okay? You seem… out of it."
"Don't worry about it."
"Mmm… okay." Marnie nodded, gently brushing Gloria's hair. "So uh… you wanna make out to pass the time?"
Gloria giggled. "I was lookin' forward to it~" She said, gently caressing Marnie's cheek and started to kiss Marnie, the latter kissing back as Gloria playfully pushed Marnie down as the two made out on the couch.
Later that night…
"No! No no no no…" Gloria said in horror, seeing Patch up in flames as she saw the Rose/Xiao Long/Branwen home in flames as she ran over to try to get everyone out, but the home crumbled to nothing as Gloria's Primal form walked out of it, smirking.
Gloria took a step back, immediately going into her Latias form and flying away, but to her dismay, it caught up to her instantly and appeared in front of her. "G-get away! NOOOO!"
"GAH!" Gloria yelled, shooting up from Marnie's bed and panting heavily. She felt Marnie stir in her sleep as she looked at her before turning away and walking out to the back patio to get some fresh air.
"Mmm… hmm…?" Marnie slowly woke up and rubbed her eyes. "...Gloria…?" Marnie yawned as she got out of bed, seeing the back door open and hearing sniffling outside. She got closer and saw Gloria leaning on the wooden railing overlooking Marnie's backyard.
"Not again…" Gloria mumbled to herself.
"...Hey, are you…?"
Gloria turned her head to see Marnie looking at her in concern. "Oh, hey… didn't mean to wake ye…"
"Is everything okay?" Marnie asked. "Come on, you can tell me…"
Gloria turned her head, gripping the railing as tears ran down her cheeks. She then turned around and went into her Primal form. "Does this tell you anything?"
"You're worried, aren't you?"
"I'm… not…"
"I heard you crying though." Marnie walked over to her gently. "I have a pretty good feeling what it's about. I knew there was something wrong."
"But how…?"
"Bede texted me yesterday, asking if you were alright." She pulled out her Rotom phone. "Here."
"Is your woman okay?"
"?"
"Is she okay?"
"Yeah, I called her last night and she sounded pretty fine. Why?"
"She's acting weird. She sounded out of it too. She played it off over something dumb like… Sleep Calling."
"I'm sure it's nothing. I'll call her later, see if anything changes."
"And then… we had this conversation after I had called you last night."
"I just talked with her. She sounds… different."
"Thank you! Something's wrong with her… of course, I don't want to ask her just to give her space. That and she'd probably play it off like it was no big deal."
"Maybe she's going through something?"
"I dunno. You guys snuggle all the time. Why don't you figure it out yourself?"
"Well, we are about due for another cuddle session…"
"I'm surprised you two don't cuddle every night."
"Oh, how I wish… if it wasn't for Lord Bowser assigning me stuff that takes longer than we all initially thought, we'd be snuggling all the time."
"What the hell are you guys working on?"
"Classified information."
"Figures…"
"Seeing you in your Primal form… I can see what's got you so out of it. The sadness on your face, the hint of fear in your eyes, your body is shaking… hell, when you went under Primal Reversion, you were worried you went overboard. Not to mention that since a massive amount of heat is coming out of your body and only I can be near you in that form without suffering burns or suffocating… it's clear to me. You're worried about this."
"Can't let anything slip past ye, can I…"
Marnie gave her a soft smile, gently putting her hand on Gloria's cheek. "I can understand why you're worried… naturally, I'd be worried too if I went under Primal Reversion. Although, hopefully, I'd be a Primal Kyogre… though, wait, that would mean I'd flood everything… it'd probably cool down the Koopa Kingdom a bit." She chuckled.
"It's just…" Gloria backed away and turned her back to Marnie. "You calmed me down on the day I turned into that. Hell, yer the only one who can calm me down over anythin', especially over early mornin' meetin's with the other champions… but… what if yer not there and I go Primal when somethin' really pisses me off? What if yer not there? Yer the only who can touch me in this form without getting burned…"
Gloria turned around, tears streaming down her cheeks that were sizzling over her blue cheeks. "And not only that, but I'm constantly getting nightmares over this! I'm burning everything to the ground, I'm burning everyone alive! I… I don't know what to do! Usually I have a plan but I got nothin' for this! I just… again, what if somethin' happens, I get pissed off and go Primal and… ye aren't there to calm me down to change me back?"
"You're scared."
"Of course I'm fockin' terrified! Why wouldn't I be?! I'm burning everything up in these nightmares and I'm the only one left alive!"
Gloria turned back around, closing her eyes and trembled. "I'm afraid… I'm honestly scared of this thing…"
Marnie simply walked over, wrapping her arms over Gloria. "Shhh… it's going to be alright…"
"How…"
"Simple. It's only a nightmare. While it's true Primal Groudon can melt everything and I can tell that you have that Desolate Land ability that he has…"
"I also burn anything around me… everything catches on fire…"
"Look around you. Is anything on fire?" She asked as Gloria looked around, noticing that the grass hasn't disintegrated, nor has the apartment caught on fire. "I can understand that though… you're afraid of burning everything."
Marnie gently gripped Gloria's stomach, gently rubbing her. "It's okay to be afraid of something this powerful. I would be too if it had happened to me." She gently kissed her on her cheek. "And yeah, I understand why you'd be concerned if I'm not around. Maybe we can work on your Primal form to where you're not… as hot? I'm sure Kamek will think of something."
Gloria wiped her tears, still sniffling a little. "I'm not sure if… he could help with this…"
"He always has a solution. I mean, hey, he saved me after all." Marnie said, gently turning Gloria around and putting her hands on her shoulders. "Look at me… everyone's going to be okay. You're not going to burn it all down and disintegrate everyone. They're just nightmares. They usually don't come real anyway. How long has this been going on?"
"Four nights in a row…"
"You're too worried over this. It's going to be okay. I promise you that it will be okay." She gently caressed her cheek as Gloria slowly turned back to normal.
"It's… unlike me to worry about anything… usually you're the one who worries."
"Hey, after I moved on, I stopped worrying about a lot of things." Marnie smiled. "Your Primal form is incredible, and I've a feelin' that Kamek will think of something when you go into this form and I'm not around."
"Marn…" Gloria formed a soft smile.
"I love you too much that I'm not going to stand by and watch you lose yourself in your explosive rage in your Primal form…" She gently put her forehead against hers. "I don't want to lose you. I love you so much…"
"And I love you too… thank ye, Marnie."
Marnie smiled, gently kissing her as Gloria wrapped her arms around Marnie and kissed her back, the two of them slowly making out under the moonlight.
Marnie broke the kiss and smiled. "Come on, let's go back to bed. We'll get this Primal thing figured out together."
"Right." Gloria nodded as the two went back to bed as they climbed into bed, and then they both laid down, where Gloria immediately stuffed her face in her chest, where Marnie would see a happy and calmer smile on Gloria's face.
Marnie giggled. "You silly Scottish girl…" She smiled, gently kissing her on the forehead and falling back asleep, wrapping her arms around her.
Ibuki: Marn-chan's like the best girlfriend ever for Gloria-chan.
Yup! Knows how to calm her down and cheer her up!
Ibuki: Mhm!
