Seven Years Ago in the Pokemon World

"Flight 206 has now arrived at its destination."

An airplane rolled up to its docking station before parking, and then one by one, the passengers disembarked the plane.

The last one to come out was a young man wearing a gray beanie, a red T-shirt with rolled up sleeves and blue jeans with a tartan green pattern for the pockets while also wearing brown shoes. He also had fair skin, short brown hair and brown eyes.

"Ah, made it." He said as he walked over to the baggage claim and waited for his bag to come along in the conveyor belt. Once it showed up, he grabbed it and strapped it to his back as he walked ahead.

"Gloria, this is a major opportunity for me! I could come back and set up shop here in Galar."

"Yer a fockin' idiot, lad! I don't fockin' care why ye want te be a Pokemon Breeder in teh first place! Yer abandonin' everyone for some shitty decision, Victor!"

"I'm not abandoning everyone, Gloria! I'm going to be the best Pokemon Breeder around, I promise you that!"

SLAM!

Victor sighed, leaning against the door. "Sis, I know you're upset… we've been inseparable for years, but… I can't waste this opportunity. It's a big world out there, waiting for me to see what kind of Pokemon breedin' I can do. Can't you at least give me a hug? I'm leavin' at the crack of dawn…"

No answer.

Victor sighed again. "Alright… I'll hopefully see you in the morning."

BGM: Piranha Plant's Lullaby (Super Mario 64)

The following morning, Victor woke up and stretched, picking up his belongings and walked out of his room, gently knocking on Gloria's door across from his room. "Hey… you awake?" He gently asked. "I'm leaving, so… if you want a hug, now's your chance."

No response.

Victor sighed. "Still upset…" He mumbled as he took a deep breath. "Alright, see ya when I get back. Love ya." He walked downstairs.

"Leaving so soon?"

Victor turned to see his mother drinking some tea. "Oh, you're up early."

"I wanted to see you off." She smiled. "Don't worry about your sister. Reality hit her harder than she would have liked. I'm sure she'll come to see you off soon."

"Here's hoping." He said as he turned to the door, but then turned around and hugged his mother, where she returned the hug.

"Stay safe. Check in often, okay?"

"I will." He smiled as she kissed him on the cheek.

"Love you."

"Love you too." He smiled. "If Gloria wakes up, give her a hug for me, alright?"

"Will do." She nodded, watching him walk out of the door where a Corviknight Taxi was waiting for him.

"You ready to go?" He asked, letting out a yawn. "A bit too early for this…"

"Sorry about that, mate."

"Nah, it's fine. I needed to get up anyway." He said as Victor hopped inside. "The airport?"

"Yes."

"Alright, here we go!" He said as the Corviknight took off.

However, as soon as they gained enough altitude, the lights in Gloria's room came on, and then seconds later, Gloria ran out the front door and watched him leave. Victor turned his head and saw her calling out to him. He smiled and waved at her before disappearing from view.

"Don't leave me…" Gloria said, tears running down her cheeks. "T-Take me with ye…"

Victor opened his eyes, taking a deep breath. "I'm doing this for you, sis." He said as he walked out of the airport.

"Welcome to the Paldea Region!"

"Wait a sec, Paldea?! I thought this took me to Kalos!" He said as he turned around and walked back in. "Excuse me! Apparently I boarded the wrong plane by accident. I was to go to Kalos."

"Ooooh, you must have missed the announcement in the plane. Apparently there's a storm brewing in the Kalos region, so the pilot took a detour to Paldea. The storm should pass soon. Might as well take the opportunity to explore, no?"

"Good point." Victor nodded as he walked out and stretched, taking a deep breath and exhaling as he pulled out his phone.

"Made a detour during my nap. I'm in the Paldea region. I should be getting to Kalos soon enough."

Message declined

"Huh?! …Oh for Arceus's sake, I thought I bought that international data plan." He mumbled as he looked into it. "Alright, how much is- NINE HUNDRED THOUSAND POKEDOLLARS?!" He yelled in shock.

"...How's my bank account doing?" He wondered as he looked into it, hoping he had enough.

25,000 Pokedollars

Anime tears ran down Victor's cheeks. "Well, shite…" He mumbled. "What do I have to do, beat up some Pokemon trainers just to steal their life savings?" He wondered to himself before sighing, pulling out his Pokeball and tossing it in the air.

"Eevai!" His Eevee cried, and then looked around. "Vai?"

"We made a little detour, mate. This isn't Kalos, but perhaps we can explore the area a bit before we catch our flight to Kalos. Wanna explore?"

"Vee vai!" Eevee smiled, hopping on Victor's shoulders and walked off, where half an hour later, they came across a forest with painted trees.

"Huh… this is unusual…" He said, examining the trees. "It looks like they've been tagged… is this some sort of gang?"

Eevee's ear twitched. "Evo?" He turned his head. "Vai vai!"

"Hmm?" Victor turned his head to see a Grafaiai tagging a tree. "Oooh, what kind of Pokemon is that?" He wondered, pulling out a Pokedex.

Data not found

"Right… of course." He mumbled as he knelt down, taking pictures of the Pokemon. "He's a cute little thing, isn't he?"

The Grafaiai spotted Victor and curiously walked over to him. "Hey little guy." He said gently as the Grafaiai curiously looked at him… before spewing poison all over his phone, causing it to short circuit and combust.

"Gah!" He yelped, dropping the phone as the Grafaiai giggled mischeviously.

"Fai ai ai ai!"

"That was my phone, you bastard!" He said as the Grafaiai ran off. He then let out a sigh. "Welp… now what?"

"Vai vai…" Eevee sweatdropped.

"Guess we could make our way to Kalos. Last I checked, Paldea's connected to Kalos. We just need to find a way to get their fast. I doubt the airplanes will get us there." He said as he walked around.

"Zar?" A voice cried as Victor turned his head to see a Cyclizar approaching him.

"Oh hey, another Pokemoooo-... are those wheels on your chest, mate?"

"Zar zar!"

"Oh, you want to help us get to Kalos?" He asked as it nodded. "Great! …How are we gonna do that?"

Cyclizar got on all fours. "...You want me to ride on you?" He asked as it nodded. "Okay, if you say so." He hopped on the Pokemon with Eevee getting inside his backpack. "Okay, so… uh… how exactly are you gonna-"

"Cycli!" Cyclizar got a running start before letting his wheels take control and he drove off.

"OOOOH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITE!"

Several hours later…

Cyclizar screeched to a halt as the beanie that Victor had wore had flown off of his head several miles back. "Well… that's… several years off of my life I'm never getting back…" Victor whimpered as he got off. "This is my stop, I guess. Thanks for the ride."

"Cycli!" Cyclizar drove off.

"A motorcycle Pokemon… don't see that every day." He said and then sighed. "Guess I'm gonna need a new beanie." He mumbled to himself as he walked off. "Oh well, guess I'll just-"

"Halt!"

Victor turned his head to see the authorities approaching him. "Hmm? Something the matter?"

"Of course there's something wrong! You crossed the border illegally a mile ago!"

"I did? I thought that was just some hideaway that some gang members put up so I thought I'd stroll on by!"

"You're wrong! You know what this means, right?"

"Oh come now, I'm sure this is one big misunderstand-"

SLAM!

BGM: Outskirt Stand (Pokemon Colosseum)

Victor sat on the bench behind bars in annoyance. "Me and my rotten luck today…" He mumbled.

The next day…

"Ahem!" The guard cleared his throat, startling Victor awake. "You have a visitor." He said as he turned his head as Professor Sycamore walked through.

"Well, you're a handful, aren't ya?" Sycamore chuckled.

"Oh hey, you must be Professor Sycamore."

"Indeed, I am. I've been expecting you for a while. How did you wind up in here?'

"Well… funny story. Apparently my flight decided to take a detour to the Paldea region, then a lemur Pokemon, that I'm assuming is a lemur, destroyed my phone. Then I wound up on a motorcycle Pokemon that I drove past the border, which I assumed was just some wild child gang member checkpoint that I went across, and then I wound up in this place."

"Detour?"

"Yeah, apparently there was a storm in the Kalos region, so the pilot decided to make a detour to Paldea instead."

Sycamore raised an eyebrow. "That's peculiar, there weren't any storms that I was aware of…" He mused. "Maybe you heard wrong."

"Nah, I fell asleep in the plane."

"That'll do it…" Sycamore chuckled. "So you illegally crossed the border by accident?"

"Yeah, again, I thought it was just some hideout for some random gang. I didn't even see the word "Entering the Kalosian border" or anything."

"Hmm, that's peculiar…" He mused. "I'll be right back." He said and walked off, and then about a few minutes later, the guard came in and unlocked the door.

"You're free to go. Apologies for the misunderstanding."

"Nah, apologies for crossing the border illegally without realizing it."

"It's our fault, honestly. We didn't have that station marked."

That explains it… Victor thought as he walked out of the station where Sycamore was waiting. "So, where am I?"

"You, my friend, are in Lumiose City."

BGM: Lumiose City (Pokemon X/Y)

Victor smiled. "Wow…" He said, looking at the sights in awe, watching Fletchling fly by as some fashionistas walked around with Aromatisse, and some kids rode on some friendly Gogoat.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" He smiled.

"Yeah!"

"So, why did you want to become a Pokemon Breeder?"

"Simple, I want to see what it's like to raise Pokemon from a different perspective. Raising, breeding them, all of that fun stuff." He then pulled out Eevee from his bag. "This little guy hatched from an egg a few years ago, which is what inspired me to become an aspiring Pokemon Breeder in the first place."

"Evai!"

Sycamore smiled. "Pokemon breeding is a special kind of talent, and I can imagine that you want to be the very best breeder that no one ever was."

Victor blushed. "Professor, please, I'm not looking to be a world famous expert on this subject."

He laughed. "I'm kidding! Come on, I'll show you to my lab."

BGM: Professor Sycamore's Lab (Pokemon X/Y)

"Welcome to the lab!" He said as they walked in a few minutes later.

"Wow! Not a bad lookin' lab if I say so myself." Victor said.

Sycamore chuckled. "Indeed." He nodded. "In fact-" He turned around. "Hey Serena! Come here for a moment!" He turned to Victor. "Serena's my lab assistant, plus she's also a Pokemon Contest superstar here in Kalos."

"Whoa. So why is she your assistant if she's living the good life from that?"

"Well, she was wanting a more quiet life after she retired." She said as Victor turned his head to see a much older teenage girl come downstairs. "Serena, this is Victor. Our Pokemon Breeder-in-training hailing from the Galar region."

"Oh! Bonjour! Welcome to the Kalos region!"

"Pleasure to meet you too." He greeted. "...I'm actually surprised. I've heard stories of Kalosians being stuck up arseholes if you're not from the region."

"Ah, that's just the common folk. The rest of us are rather pleasant." Serena winked.

"That's a relief." Victor chuckled before realizing what he said. "Ah! Sorry about that…"

Sycamore laughed. "Don't worry, we hear that from tourists all the time." He said, all of them unaware of a Fennekin curiously poking her head out from a doorway and approached them.

"Hmm?" Victor looked down. "Oh hey, you're a cute one…" He knelt down and offered his hand to the Fennekin. She curiously sniffed his hand before nuzzling against his hand.

"Making a new friend already?" Serena smiled.

"This one yours?" Victor asked.

"Nah, she's Sycamore's. He also has a Froakie and a Chespin." She added.

"Nice. I only have an Eevee." He said as Eevee hopped down and immediately started to play with the Fennekin. "Well, actually, I have these two fossils." He pulled them out of his bag. "Unfortunately, i can't seem to find anyone who's willing to convert these into a Pokemon."

"Nobody?" Sycamore asked.

"Well… actually, I found one but it raised some red flags. Her name was Cara Liss."

"Cara Liss… Cara Liss…" Serena mumbled over and over again before her eyes widened, grimacing at the thought. "Bon appel…" (Good call…)

"We actually have a Fossil Restorer in our lab. Just built it in a few days ago!" Sycamore smiled. "Perhaps we can use it to restore the Fossil Pokemon in here!" He suggested as Victor nodded and then walked off, where he put it inside and Sycamore closed the door.

"So, while we wait, I bet you want to study Pokemon Breeding here, right?"

"Actually, I was thinking of traveling the world and learning more about breeding from all the regions, see what types of tricks they have up their sleeve."

Sycamore smiled. "That's the spirit. Of course, you're always welcome to stay here any time you'd like."

"Of course." Victor smiled.

Ding!

"That was fast."

Bang!

Pow!

Bam!

"Uuuuh… are they supposed to do that?" Victor asked.

"I don't think so…" Sycamore said as everyone took a step back cautiously, and then a large abomination jumped out of it.

"DRACOVIIIIIIII!"

"MON DIEU!" Serena yelled. "What have you done?! Someone kill it! Someone put it out of its misery! Do something! It's suffering!"

"Draco~!" The Dracovish happily and clumsily walked over to Victor, and then playfully munched on his head. "Dracovi vi vi~"

"I think he likes me!" Victor said.

Sycamore chuckled. "Put the frying pan down, Serena. I don't think it's suffering."

Serena put the frying pan down. "Just… don't let that thing near me…" She said.

"She afraid of Pokemon?"

"Nah, she loves them all. Just doesn't seem to be a fan of this one." Sycamore chuckled, patting the Dracovish on the head. "You're a friendly thing, aren't ya?"

"Evai vai vai!" Eevee ran over to the Dracovish as did the Fennekin.

"Fenne!"

"Draco!" The Dracovish clumsily ran off to play with the Eevee and Fennekin.

"Soooo, have you checked in with your family?" Sycamore asked.

"I tried, unfortunately I didn't have an international data plan. It's too expensive when I tried to buy it." Victor mumbled. "Not only that, but my phone got destroyed by a lemur Pokemon…"

"Oh, I have an international data plan!" Serena tossed him her phone to her. "You can use it to call your family."

"Oh, thanks." He said as he immediately tried to call his mother, but paused.

"...What's wrong?" Sycamore asked.

"I… uh… I… never bothered to memorize my mother's phone number."

"Oh, well, you have it written down somewhere, right?" Serena asked.

"...In my phone."

Sycamore grimaced. "Okay, so how about the rest of your family? How about your sister?"

"I don't have her number memorized either…"

"The professor in that region?" Serena asked.

"Professor Magnolia? …I don't have her number." He groaned.

"Okay, so… best friend?"

"I didn't memorize his number either…"

"Best friend's mother?"

Victor sulked in a corner. "I can't memorize phone numbers to save my life…"

"Tu te fous de moi!" (You gotta be kidding me!)

Sycamore rubbed the back of his head. "That's an issue…"

"Well, I guess everyone's gonna have to wait on pins and needles and hope that you're still alive…" Serena said, which caused Victor to sulk even harder. "Je plaisantais!" (I was just joking!)

Sycamore patted him on the back. "There there, it's gonna be okay. Let's get you started on your breeding education, alright?"

"Okay…" Victor snapped out of his funk and slapped his cheeks. "Yeah! I'm gonna do this to impress my little sis! Let's rock and roll!"

"That's the spirit!"

Seven years later…

BGM: Lumiose City

Victor, now sporting a stubble beard, a white knit cap, a navy blue zipped jacket, blue sneakers, and black short cargo pants, drank some coffee at a cafe. "Heh, hard to believe it's been so long… I lost track of time."

Serena giggled. "You've done so much Pokemon breeding, you're pretty much an expert now." She said.

"Yeah, and then on a whim, I decided to be another assistant." He chuckled.

Sycamore laughed. "It happens. But hey, you did help me learn the ways of Mega Evolving, as you had also taught me all about Dynamaxing! Don't know if Kalos will ever have that kind of energy, but it's all good."

"Yeah… though I do wonder what that storm in Galar was about…" He wondered to himself.

"I'm still trying to figure out what that distortion was about, along with that heavenly voice." Sycamore said.

"What I'm amazed by is that Galarian Star Tournament that happened a few months ago." Serena added. "I'm still amazed that the Galarian champion lost… let alone said champion being your sister!"

Victor chuckled. "She grew up… I hardly recognized her." He said. "Glad she's doing well, as well as making new friends."

"That cat girl…" Serena mused. "She couldn't have been a humanoid Liepard, right?"

Sycamore chuckled. "This world is always full of mysteries." He said and then looked at Victor. "So, you're heading off soon?"

"Yeah, as I said, I've lost track of time." Victor laughed sheepishly. "Things just happened on a whim…"

"Indeed." Sycamore nodded. "But always remember, if you feel the need to come back, Serena and I will welcome you with open arms."

Victor smiled. "Thanks, professor." He said as he got up, finishing his coffee. "I'm gonna go back to Galar and show off my skills to my family. They're gonna be blown away, especially my rowdy sister!"

He then walked off.

"Victor, wait!"

Victor turned around as Serena hugged him tightly. "Prenez soin de vous." (Take care.)

He smiled, returning the hug. "You too." He said, as he hugged Sycamore as well, then he walked off toward the airport.

Once he boarded the plane, Sycamore and Serena watched the airplane take off as they waved goodbye.

Victor sighed. "It's been far too long, eh little sis? Can't wait to see the look on your face… you too, mum."

Finally figured out what I wanted Victor to do in this Gaiden...
