After Luminary Tried to Comfort Weiss

Erik looked around Toad Town, rubbing the back of his head with a sigh before looking up at the Death Egg. He turned around to see Rab, Serena, Mia and Princess Jade. "Alright, how are things going on your end?"

"Sylvando is trying to help make the Atleasian orphans smile." Jade explained. "Hendrik and Veronica are now protecting the Mushroom Kingdom from any Grimm attacks."

"I've been helping in protecting the Sea5ons lads and lasses." Rab said. "Those rioters have no respect for the elderly. I managed to scare them off for now with a good ol' Kacrackle iceberg."

"I just called my friends over at Diamond City." Mia explained. "Right now, they're fine for the most part, but now that Argus was just nuked sky high, the citizens are panicking over there." She sighed. "I'm worried… Diamond City is like a second home for me, and… to say that I'm worried that Robotnik might destroy Diamond City like he did with Argus is a bit of an understatement."

Erik softly smiled, wrapping his sister into a hug. "How about you, Serena?"

"I have been attending the wounded with the other nurses. Honestly, I've never seen Mikan so weary… that said, where's Luminary?"

"Well, I asked around. The Smash Mansion, Toad Town, Peach's Castle… no one's seen him." Erik said. "It's like he vanished."

"You don't think he ended up missing too, would you?" Jade wondered.

"I doubt it, but with what Robotnik is doing… that is not completely out of the question…" Rab guessed.

"Oh dear, with what happened with Atlas and Argus, let alone the mob that's going after the Schnees… I'm afraid things are getting worse…" Serena mused. "Just where could he be?"

At that moment, it started to lightly snow as they all looked up. "Snow… in May?" Erik wondered.

"Well, at least it's calming a little." Jade said.

"Everyone!" A voice called out as Hendrik approached them.

"Hendrik, what's going on?" Erik asked.

"We just got some intel. We've received reports that the Crimson Fang is acting up and are currently headed our way with a lot of Grimm. They're expected to be here within an hour."

"Ooooh, of course!" Mia groaned.

"Then let's get everything prepared. We're about to have ourselves a heck of a fight."

Meanwhile, with Luminary…

11:42 PM

Luminary sighed, sitting by himself underneath a tree as he closed his eyes.

"If your title is to bring back the light and hope to people… then where's mine?"

"How did it come to this? I may be the Luminary in my world… protecting those in the dark times… and yet I couldn't stop this." He mumbled to himself.

He suddenly heard rustling bushes as he turned his head to see a young girl approach him. She had long blonde hair, blue eyes, she wore a white dress with a tint of light blue and a blue bow on the center of her dress. The most notable thing about her are the wings on her back.

BGM: Calm Winds Over Gentle Waters (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

"An angel…? Hey, did you get lost from Skyworld?"

"Hmm?" The girl tilted her head in confusion. "Skyworld? What's that place?"

"So… are you a Faunus then?" If I had to guess, she's probably a small swan faunus.

"Faunus? I don't know what that is."

"You're not? Then… who are you?"

The girl smiled. "I'm Filo!"

Luminary blinked. "Okay then…" What is she then? I don't know what to do after considering Eggman's attack… there's so much stuff to process after what's been going on…

As he was lost in his own thoughts, Filo approached him, taking a fascination for his shield.

"Oooh, this looks cool!" She picked it up and ran off with it.

"H-hey! Wait!" Luminary took off after her.

BGM: Team Rocket's Secret Strategy (Pokemon)

Behind the trees, a group of Calasmos's minions were spying on them.

"Well, would you look at that. It's the Luminary and… uh… an angel girl? Probably from Skyworld. I'd say Pit's sister." A Kleptoreptile said.

"Shall we commence the surprise attack?" A Grumpy Grublin asked.

"Yes."

"Ha! This will be easy." A Royal Reptile smirked.

"But what about Doctor Eggman?" The Grumpy Grublin asked.

"The Dark One gave us the order to make use of this confusion, until then, we will do whatever we want until the master calls us again."

"Even so… I doubt Eggman will leave Remnant alone." The Kleptoreptile spoke up. "He will take over either way and go after all the other worlds, including Erdrea. Eggman has manipulated the events to fueling the humans' paranoia. I just hope the Dark One returns to talking to us one last time after the time limit. But enough about that for now. Let's go!"

Back with the Luminary…

"Hey, that's my shield!" He said as he caught up to her.

"Aww…" Filo pouted.

"There was no need to steal it… why would you do that?"

"It… looked pretty pleasing to the eye, I just couldn't help myself."

Luminary sweatdropped. "I see… well-"

He shifted his eyes, seeing something coming at him as he swiftly blocked a Kasizzle spell with his shield, immediately getting in front of Filo.

They would both see Calasmos's monsters approaching them, with Filo giving them a harsh glare.

"Well, well, Luminary! It's time to meet you end!"

"Now? At a time like this?" Luminary asked.

"Hey, I don't like Eggman as much as the next guy." The Kleptoreptile said. "But with what happened in Atlas, the master is livid over this, so there's not really a point right now to go at him currently unless the Dark One says otherwise, But now we are either causing anarchy on Remnant or going to kill Sonic to give him one final middle finger to Eggman… either way, we're screwed."

"So you think the best course of action is to try and kill me despite what Eggman's doi-"

Suddenly, Filo charged right at them.

"Filo, wait!"

BGM: Unflinchable Courage (Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age)

"Dragons… I hate you dragons!" She immediately started glowing, transforming into a large bird.

Luminary looked on in surprise. Did she just turn into a Fat Chocobo?! I've never seen a white one before…

"Wait a minute, is that…?" The Kleptoreptile wondered.

To Luminary's surprise, he watched Filo take on some Pruslas all by herself, kicking them in the face.

"Hold still, you angelic bird… thing!" A Prusla said, only for Filo to kick it in the head hard enough to where its skull cracked wide open as one by one, the Prusla's fell over in defeat, where they immediately disappeared.

"A Filolial… here?!"

"Aren't those from the Melromarc Region?" The Grumpy Grublin asked.

"Yes, surprised to see them here now." The Kleptoreptile growled. "You damn bird! I'm going to make supper out of you!" He said as Filo turned back to normal as she got in a battle stance.

"Bring it!"

"Now why would you go back into your human form? Too scared to face me as a bird?" He mocked.

"No." She lunged forward, unleashing a Knuckle Sandwich attack straight into the Kleptoreptile's stomach, making the dragon bend over in shock and pain.

"Mmmph!"

Filo's hands glowed blue right after. "Eat this!"

"Ha! Like a magic spell would work against my Magic Bou-" He then got hit by a slashing attack, causing him to cough out blood. What… Bounce should have deflected right off of-... wait, that was Wind Sickle! That's not a spell, it's a natural ability infused with wind! Where'd she learn that?!

He growled. "You damn bird!" He said as he unleashed magic spells on her, to which she calmly avoided the attacks… and then he pulled out a gun.

"He's going in guns blazing!" One of the commanders said as Luminary batted away a Grumpy Grublin and countered him, unleashing Kazapple on a few enemies.

He heard gunfire as he turned around with a gasp, but Filo was way too quick for him.

"You… squirrley little thing…!" He growled until he heard a click from his gun, causing him to gasp as Filo lunged forward and shoved her fist into his gut right as Luminary cut through more enemies.

"Gragh!" He grunted as Filo then threw an uppercut and then punched him in the gut again to send him flying into a tree, which he fell limp immediately afterward and caused him to disappear into nothing.

Where'd she learn that power? She's strong for a little girl… Luminary thought. "Where'd you learn all of that?"

"Self taught!" Filo smiled. "...Okay, not really, I had some help to balance myself out."

Luminary sweatdropped. "I see."

"Hahaha!" A Royal Reptile lunged directly at Filo from the side. "I got you now!"

Luminary jumped into the fray, blocking an attack from him as he backed up. "Yggdrasil, give me strength!" He exclaimed, unleashing Quadraslash as the Royal Reptile let out a scream before he was completely annihilated.

"Whoa…" Filo whispered in awe.

"That takes care of those monsters." He said, sheathing his sword. He then felt arms wrap around his waist as he looked down to see Filo hugging him, catching him by surprise.

"Thanks for rescuing me back there! How you beat that nasty dragon with your sword and shield was awesome!"

"Well, I'm the Luminary. Yggdrasil blessed me with her power." He said, causing Filo's eyes to sparkle in wonder.

"Ooooh~!"

"So yeah, let's get you back to Toad Town before we get ambushed again."

"Okay!" She nodded as they walked off together. "Soooo, what were you doing back here anyway?"

"It's a long story."

"Try me!"

"Okay, where do I begin…"

"How about before you came to this world?"

"Okay."

One long story later…

12:47 AM

"So you're going to fight Calasmos one day?"

"Yeah, his influence and monsters have already started terrorizing worlds after we were brought here from Remnant. A friend of ours, Marnie, was a victim of this."

"Who's Marnie?"

"Oh." Luminary showed a picture of her. "She looks like this."

"Huh, she looks like a goth…" Filo mused. "Wait, you have a picture of her in that tiny thing?"

"It's called a Scroll. Hendrik thought we might use this to communicate with each other."

"Ah, okay."

"Anyway, I know the people here are strong, but I don't want them to suffer the casualties of this like Marnie did."

"Did she die?"

"No, but she almost did. She lost her eyes and arm from an attack."

"Oh… poor thing."

"She's in high spirits these days, which I'm thankful for… her being depressed was enough to make me unsure of how to comfort her. But she's okay now."

"That's good~!"

"Yeah, but aside from Calasmos, there's other villains from other worlds that tend to cause havoc. Like Dark Samus with her Phazon or Dark Ruby with the red sky-"

"Phazon?"

"It's this blue poisonous goop that-"

"Oh, that's what it was? I thought it was just blueberry juice. …It tasted a little moldy though, not to mention it gave quite a shock."

Luminary sweatdropped. How did you not die from that?

"Gave me a little stomach bug too, but I pulled through!" Filo gave him a cheerful smile.

Luminary chuckled. "Good for you. Anyway, we're now dealing with Eggman who had just committed mass genocide." He flashbacked to how he watched Atlas slam into the ground. "I don't know what to think of myself here. How can I light the darkness when people feel down and questioning what I do in Remnant?"

"You shouldn't let that affect you. I may not know what this Egg Guy's deal is, but even if you don't save everybody, you can protect the survivors."

Luminary smiled. "Thanks Filo, after what Weiss said… I wasn't sure of myself and how to bring hope to Remnant."

"No problem, big bro Eleven!" She hugged him again.

"Wait, huh?!" Luminary looked at her in surprise. How did she even know my real name? I know the people have been used to calling me Luminary… I know my team knows about my real name and… wait a minute, why'd she call me Big Bro Eleven?

"Um… why did you call me that?"

"Because I love you as a big bro times eleven~!"

"Big brother… huh…" He looked up to the sky, thinking about his past.

BGM: Distant Memories (Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age)

A young Eleven sat on the dock, looking over at the pond with Chalky next to him. "Granddad, I want a younger brother or sister."

His grandfather chuckled. "Well now, lad… I'm afraid that can't be possible. Let's just say your mother doesn't have the capability to give you a younger sibling."

Eleven looked down, a bit disappointed. "Oh…"

"It's alright, lad. It's a complicated subject with kids your age."

Later…

"So, why do you even want a young sibling?" Genma asked as she and Eleven sat on a stone fence.

"Honestly, at first, I'm a little jealous of the other kids with their other siblings and I wanted to know what being an older sibling feels like… but now I'm not so sure how I feel… maybe I wanted to have more relatives with me?"

"Hmm… I'm not sure what to say… but maybe one day, when we go see outside the village, perhaps we can find the answer. You shouldn't mope on things like that, Eleven."

Eleven smiled. "Thanks, Genma. You're a great friend to talk to about this."

"Yeah. Now come on, let's go play with Sandy."

"Sure thing. Oh! That reminds me, I got a prank I want to pull on the adults."

"Lay it on me!"

Way later, after the Blorb Crisis…

"Something wrong?" Erik asked.

"I can't help but feel envious. Marnie has Piers as a protective older brother, Mario has Luigi, Ruby has Yang… I wonder what it's like to even have a sibling."

"Oh, well, speaking from experience, they can drive you absolutely crazy. But they're still family no matter what."

"Right…"

Back in the present…

"Filo, I should be heading back to Toad Town right now. I'm worried that rioters are attacking the Smash Mansion."

"Smash Mansion?"

"Well, it's a home away from home, filled with lots of fighters. Some of them even went through adventures with Team RWBY, including us."

"Team RWBY?"

"Want me to talk about them on the way there?"

"Sure!"

Later…

1:10 AM

"There you are, lad! Where have you been?!" Rab asked.

"The Crimson Fang attacked Toad Town and boy, that was a mess." Erik rubbed his head. "Glad we got everything under control…"

"We were so worried though!" Veronica added. "We thought something had happened to you and you went missing just like the others!"

"By the way, who's the girl next to you?" Serena asked.

"Oh, this is Filo." Luminary explained.

"Ooooh! So you're Big Bro's party? That's so cool!"

"Big bro?" Jade asked in surprise.

"Yeah, she just called me that after we met."

"And where did you meet her at?" Hendrik wondered.

"I encountered her when I was fighting monsters. They were saying something about a Filolial."

"A Filolial?!" Rab exclaimed. "But that creature lives in the Melromarc Region! Melromarc… it's been a long time since I heard of that place, especially with the rumors popping up after the fall of Dundrasil…"

"Melromarc…" Sylvando mumbled to himself. "Been a long time since I had visited that place with my papi…"

"Melromarc…" Hendrik muttered with a frown.

"Never thought I'd see someone from the Melromarc region again… not after the Fall of Dundrasil…" Jade said.

"Um… what are you guys talking about?" Mia asked as she, Luminary, Erik, Serena and Veronica looked at them in confusion.

"The Melmor… what now region?" Erik asked.

"I've never heard of that place before." Serena said.

"This is the first I'm hearing about this." Veronica added.

"Ah, right. Melromarc is a kingdom within another continent as the Melromarc Continent in Erdrea. That region holds a race known as Demi-Human. It has a lot of native monsters you're not familiar with, and holds a legend of the Four Heroes." Rab explained.

"Demi-Humans?" Serena wondered with intrigue.

"The four heroes?" Veronica asked.

"That is another story for another time. We've got Eggman to deal with." Rab said.

"So what do we do with Filo then? Do we show her to the others?" Erik asked.

"I am afraid we'll have to wait on showing the little lass to them. Weiss has a lot going on her mind right now, especially with Robotnik and his new fortress." Rab said.

"Plus, I want to give her some space right now…" Luminary added. "Look, FIlo, unfortunately taking you back to the Smash Mansion can wait. Right now, things are uneasy, so until then, we have to protect the people in anxiety from the Grimm."

"That's fine, Big Bro Eleven. I'll do my best to help you!"

"Alright guys, let's go!" Luminary said, unsheathing his sword.

"She knows your real name, then?" Jade asked.

"Yeah, but it's just a coincidence on the fact that she loves me times eleven." He said. "...By the way, anything else I should know about?"

"Well, Argus got obliterated by a nuke in case you were wondering." Erik said.

Luminary grimaced. "Alright, we'll focus on protecting Toad Town. Let's go!"

Filo smiled. I guess I found what I was looking for, thank you mother Yggdrasil and Donatini… hope you and the others are okay back there. I really appreciate your help with my goal!

They all took off running.

Meanwhile, outside of Solana Town…

A portal appeared outside of the town as a draconic figure approached alongside a squadron.

"Hmm… where the heck are we?" The dragon wondered.

"We don't know, sir."

"Sir, it looks like a town… and it looks like the monsters are panicking over something!"

"What?! They must be captured and probably living in fear! Let's go rescue them!"

Meanwhile, at the Toad Town's Hospital…

"Agh…" Mikan groaned as she fell on her knees exhausted. "Hah… hah… I overworked myself… all over because of what Eggman had done…" She said, her eyes closed.

I don't know if I can last much longer… we're stretched thin…

Suddenly, she felt herself being hit by something warm and cozy. She felt more rejuvenated as she opened her eyes, as a breath of fresh air wrapped around her. "What…?"

"You looked like you could use a boost, frauline!"

Mikan's eyes widened as she slowly rose and looked over at Medic. "Medic…?"

He gave her a friendly smile. "Guten tag, frauline. You look like you could use a little break."

Okay, so a little backstory. When I finally got around to watching Shield Hero a few years back, I thought "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if I brought them into SRS?" so we started to plan on it, but overtime, I was getting cold feet over it because we were dealing with an isekai and bringing them in via portal just... didn't work out as well as I thought, so we all scrapped it. Of course, at the last moment, I thought "Wait, what if we did like Final Fantasy or Fire Emblem versions of them?" but it didn't work out, so we threw it in the bin.

So imagine my surprise when Drei comes out of nowhere and goes "I've got an idea on how we can bring Shield Hero into SRS! We do Dragon Quest versions of the characters!" and he threw out his well thought out ideas that everyone was like "Oh yeah, that's pretty good! Well thought out!"

Unforunately, this was bad timing on my part because I was playing Pokemon Violet (Or some other game?) and by the time I finished a session, they were all buried away on Discord, so I didn't even notice at all. So, I find out about this like two to three months ago and I was like "...Hold on, what? I thought we scrapped that!" it caught me so off guard, I wasn't sure what to think but I went "Oh, but Drei worked so hard on this. Oh, what the hell, we can bring in Shield Hero."

Ibuki: And what better way to introduce 'em than bringing in Filo!

Deadpool: I have one thing to say. If Malty shows up, I have first dibs!
