He himself did not know what had come over him when he had arranged to meet Amelin. Although could he really speak of arrange? He had somehow presented her with a fait accompli and he wondered if she would even show up. Sighing Draco turned away from the mirror and left his bedroom. He had done some research and dressed like normal Muggels his age would. If someone had told him this during his schooldays he would have declared him as mad but now he actually wore a Jeans with a shirt and a jacket and with it some sneakers. He had tucked his wand into the waistband of his jeans. He felt ridiculous walking around like this but he had no choice if he didn't want to scare Amelin away and for some reason he really wanted her to like him. He heard the bell at the door ring and looked at his watch. Draco had absolutely no time to take care of any guests now - he would have to leave right away if he didn't want to be late. Suddenly Toffey appeared beside him. "Master Draco, Miss Andromeda is at the door", the elf informed Draco. "Tell her I don't have time", Draco said. Meanwhile he was getting along quite good with his aunt but he couldn't deal with her now. "Madame wished to talk to the young master", Toffey said. Draco sighed, he knew that when his aunt had something in her mind he wouldn't get rid of her so easily. "Alright, tell her I'll be right there", Draco said. Toffey nodded disappearing with a soft plop. Draco took a deep breath and went through the manor into the direction of the lobby. As he went around the corner he could already see his aunt standing there. On her arm she carried Ted who looked around with big eyes. The little one hadn't been often to the manor yet and was fascinated every time. "Andromeda", Draco greeted as he came down the grand staircase. "Draco", Andromeda said relieved holding tighter onto Ted. "What are you doing here?" Draco wanted to know stopping in front of his aunt. "You have to watch Teddy today for me", Andromeda said. Draco made a face that did not suit him at all. "What about Potter?" Draco asked. "Harry must work and can't take him. Please Draco I've got a real important appointment and I can't take him there." Andromeda pushed the little boy into Draco's arms. "Andy I", Draco started but was immediately interrupted by his aunt. "Thanks Draco you're the best and Teddy you'll be good", Andromeda said, kissed Teddy on his forehead and disappeared. Draco stared at the closed door for a while, then he sighed before he looked at toddler in his arms. Ted starred with big dark eyes up at him, then he grinned and said: "Daco." Draco sighed again as a smiled spread across his face. "Then I have to take you with me." Ted tilted his head he didn't quite seem to get what his cousin meant. "Ted can you look like me what do you think?" Draco asked. Ted giggled and his brown hair turned light blond and his dark eyes brightened. "Good boy and now stay like this yeah", Draco asked, kissed the still giggling boy on his forehead and left the manor. He still didn't quite know how to explain this to Amelin.
Amelin was standing in the Hyde Park right where people usually met when they had a date. She and Draco hadn't arranged a place but she just expected him to meet her here. She looked at her watch and sighed, it was already ten minutes after their arranged time and Draco didn't seem to her like someone who was late. She would wait another five minutes then she would leave. When she looked up again she could see a shock of blond hair coming towards her and involuntarily she had to smile. He hadn't messed with her after all. As the crowd in front of her loosened a little, she could see that Draco was not alone. On his hand he held a little boy who seemed to be about two years old and looked amazingly like him. She blinked several times while the two came closer. "Hello Amelin, sorry for the delay", Draco said as they reached her. "Don't worry. Who's that your son?" she asked pointing at Ted, who looked up at her with wide eyes and pressed himself a little against Dracos leg. "What? No, he's my cousin and the reason why I'm late my aunt impressed him on me sorry", explained Draco. Amelin smiled, she wouldn't have minded if the little one would have been Draco's son but she found it cute that he took care of his little cousin. Draco seemed relieved when he saw her smile, he had been scared that she would leave immediately when she saw Ted. "Ted that's Amelin say hello", Draco said to Ted. Ted shook his head and buried it even further into Draco's leg. Draco sighed. "I'm sorry, he's a little shy forward strangers." "It's alright", Amelin said and kneeled down so she was about eye level with Ted. "Hello Ted I'm Amy", Amelin said reaching her hand out forward the little boy. Ted looked skeptically at her, then at Draco who nodded at him encouraging, then Ted took her hand, shook it quickly before clinging to Draco again. "Hello", he mumbled. "How old are you Ted?" Amelin wanted to know. Ted bit his lips thinking for a moment before he held up two fingers to her. "Two wow then you're already a really big boy", Amelin said smiling. Ted smiled back shyly. Amelin straightened up again and turned to Draco. "And what are your plans now?" she asked him. Draco sighed rubbing his neck nervously. "Well actually I wanted to stroll a little through the parc but with Ted that's probably not possible." Amelin tilted her head thinking, then she smiled. "Back there's a playground we could go there with him", she suggested. "That doesn't sound so bad. What do you think Ted do you want to go to the playground?" Draco asked and Ted nodded excited and wanted to let go of Draco and run to the playground. Draco was faster and grabbed his collar. "Not so fast, you don't want to go lost do you?" Draco asked. Ted shook his head. "Sowwy Daco", Ted mumbled. "It's fine", Draco said taking Ted by the hand. Together the three made their way to the playground and Amelin was surprised when she noticed Ted reaching for her hand after a few steps. Obviously he had come to trust her. At the playground Ted let go of Draco and Amelins hands and ran to the swings. With some difficulty he climbed onto one of them and held on to the chains, looking expectantly at Draco. He sighed standing behind Ted. "Are you holding on well?" asked Draco, taking the chains in his hands. Ted nodded and Draco started to push him softly. Amelin sat down on the swing next to Ted, smiling, and began to rock back and forth slightly. Ted giggled beside her. "You're good at this", Amelin said looking at Draco. "Thanks, it's not the first time that I watch him", Draco said giving Ted another slight push. "Why is he so much younger than you?" Amelin wanted to know looking at the little boy. "My aunt is his grandmother", Draco said, but did not elaborate. Amelin decided not to push him obviously it was too painful for him to talk about it. "Daco", they heard Ted say. "Hmm", he said, looking at Ted. "Side", Ted said and Draco stopped the swing, so Ted could jump off it and disappeared into the direction of the big slide. "He's really lively", Amelin said while she went with Draco to the cubby house to witch the slide was attached. "Well we've all been like this", Draco said which made Amelin laugh. "What's so funny about it?" Draco asked looking bewildered at her. "Well somehow I can't imagine you that with you." Draco snorted. "Believe me, my mother didn't just call me her little dragon because of my name." Amelin smiled shyly that was somehow cute. As Ted reached the upper part of the slide Draco stood at the exit to catch him when he came down. This went on a few times until the three of them went to the sandbox. Ted immediately pounced on the moulds and shovels provided by the city. "Amy are you building a castle with me?" Ted asked and Amelin was surprised that was the first whole sentence to boy had said and flawless so. "Sure Ted", Amelin said sitting in the sandbox with the boy. Draco smiled as he saw together like that. "Ted", the boy looked up as Draco called him. "Would you like an ice cream?" The eyes of the boy widened and he nodded exited. Draco laughed. "Amelin?" Amelin nodded smiling. "Good then I'll get us some ice cream. Ted you're staying with Amelin alright?" Ted who had already turned back to his sandcastle only nodded. Draco shook his head and went away to get some ice cream. Amelin turned her attention back to Ted. "The little one obviously takes after your husband." Amelin turned her head into the direction of the voice. An older woman with a buggy stood beside her. "Oh we're not married", Amelin said. "It's not good for a child if the parents aren't married", the lady said. Amelin snorted, these were such outdated views that she decided to have a joke. "Well the little one wasn't planed and the wedding we'll have after the next one arrived", Amelin said smiling putting her hand on her stomach. The lady blinked a few times before snorting indignantly and walking away. At this moment Draco returned and was surprised when the lady gave him a nasty look as she passed. "Here. What was that?" Draco asked handing Amelin her ice cream. "Oh the good lady thought that we're Ted's parents and I shocked her a little", Amelin said with a shrug. Draco accepted it just like that, he didn't want to know exactly what Amelin had said.
The three of them spend a majority of the afternoon in the park and as Ted started to get grumpy they decided to call it a day. However, Draco insisted on accompanying Amelin back to her dormitory. He had to carry Ted, because he was too exhausted to walk. "I'm sorry about Ted", Draco apologized again as the building came into view. Amelin shook her head. "You don't have to, he's a great boy", she said stroking the blond mop of hair of the little one. He only stirred a little because in the meantime he had fallen asleep on Draco's chest. "Yeah he is", Draco said looking smiling at the little boy. "I had a lot of fun today Draco", Amelin said smiling at him. "I'm glad, but I would like to make it up to you", Draco said. "What do you want to make up?" Amelin asked confused. "Well the thing with Ted, I didn't imagine it this way", Draco explained. "What do you have in mind?" Amelin wanted to know. "What would you say to dinner with me tomorrow?" Draco asked looking at her hopefully. "Alright", Amelin agreed after thinking about it for a moment. "Good then I'll pick you up at eight o'clock", Draco said beaming. "Good see you tomorrow", Amelin said goodbye and disappeared through the door. Draco kept on grinning turned around and disappeared with a soft plop.
