It was late afternoon and Amelin sat in her room studying for an exam before she wanted to get dressed for her date with Draco. "Amy are you there, there's a package for you!" she heard Sophie calling. Amelin stopped, how could this be possible packages were not delivered on Sundays. Confused she left her room and saw Sophie standing at the front door with a white tied-up package. Quickly Amelin went to her friend and took the package from her. "Did you order something?" Sophie wanted to know closing the door behind her. Amelin shook her head placing the package on the coffee table. "What's more important is how it get here", Amelin said taking a seat on the couch. Sophie dropped beside her. "Maybe a gift from an admirer?" she asked raising her eyebrow insinuating. Amelin only snorted pulling the package closer. "Look here's even a card", Sophie said taking the card. "Soph!" Amelin screamed trying to take the card from her but Sophie was faster. She jumped up, unfolded the card and started to read.
Dear Amelin
Thank you for the afternoon yesterday, I enjoyed it very much. Enclosed is a little something. I'd love it if you wore it tonight.
Draco
p.s. don't worry about how the package reached you, as you know I have my ways to get what I want.
"Draco? Is that the blond one?" Sophie asked looking at Amelin over the card. Amelin nodded. "What do you think he's sending you? Hot underwear?" Sophie laughed and Amelin buried her face in her hands. "I don't think so. He has too much style for that", she mumbled looking at Sophie through her fingers. Sophie snorted. "Sure and you can judge that because you know him so well. Open up." Amelin untied the bow that was around the package and lifted the lid. At first she only saw a pile of purple fabric. Carefully she took it into her hands and was surprised when the pile turned out to be a floor-length halterneck dress. "Wow one thing is for sure, your lover got great taste." "Soph", Amelin said a little speechless. "What?" Sophie turned her gaze from the dress looking at Amelin who had become quite pale. "That's silk, do you know how expensive something like this is?" Amelin mumbled. "Sick, this dude really does everything so he can get you laid." "Sophie seriously, I can't accept this." "Nonsense, he wants you to wear it." Amelin bit her lips, slowly it dawned on her that the restaurant that Draco wanted to take her to was a little more noble. With wide eyes she looked at Sophie, who now took matching shoes for the dress out of the package. "Sophie would he help me get dressed for tonight?" Amelin asked. "You can do that by yourself", Sophie said laughing. "Soph please", Amelin begged and as Sophie saw the panicked face of her friend she agreed with a sigh.
At eight o'clock sharp, there was a knock on the door and Sophie opened it. In front of her stood Draco who smiled at her a little unsure. He was wearing a navy blue suit and his hair was tied in a tight ponytail. "Hi", Draco said. "So you're Draco", Sophie said eyeing the young men in front of her. When she was apparently satisfied with what she saw, she looked up at him again. "I'm Sophie, Amy's roommate, come in." Sophie stepped aside letting Draco step into the small apartment. "Thanks, is Amelin ready?" Draco wanted to know looking around. "She should be here any moment. Amy your date is here!" Sophie screamed and sat on one of the stools at the kitchen counter. She had picked up a coffee cup and looked over the rim at Draco, grinning; he was about to get the shock of his life. Creaking the door to Amelins room opened and Draco turned around. He had to swallow hard, Amelin surely wore more then at their first meeting but she looked so much more enchanting. The dress, he had sent her fitted her perfectly and because he knew that it was backless a shiver went through him. She wore only a little make-up and her dark hair was braided into a French braid and fell over her right shoulder. As she stood in front of him he was still speechless. "Hi", Amelin whispered a little unsure. "You look great", said Draco and kissed her hand. Amelin blushed and turned her fact to Sophie who grinned at her over the rim of her cup. "Thanks, you don't look so bad either." Draco smiled and his eyes who had now turned an almost light blue color shone. "Shall we?" he asked offering her his arm. Amelin linked her arm with his and Draco guided her to the door. "Have fun you two and don't forget to use protection!" Sophie called after them. Draco could see from the corner of his eyes how Amelin blushed and lowered her head. "Are you alright?" he asked her. "Yeah, sorry about Sophie's comment she can be very direct sometimes", she apologized. Draco shook his head laughing. "It's alright." Amelin was glad that Draco didn't hold it against her roommate that she was so rude, after all she was also her best friend and if today went well they would probably run into each other more often. Draco guided her to a black limousine which drove them to the restaurant.
The restaurant was a posh French establishment and they had to wait at the reception desk. "Name please?" the waiter asked when it was their turn. "Malfoy." The waiter looked at his list. "Oh here a table for two, please follow me", the waiter said guiding them to their table. Like a true gentleman Draco adjusted Amelin's seat before he sat down himself. A waitress had replaced her colleague, poured them champagne and handed them the menus before she left again. Draco took his glass and offered it to Amelin. "To a wonderful night." Amelin took her glass as well and clinked it with Draco. "Draco don't you find this a little exaggerated?" Amelin asked after she had taken a sip. "Don't you like it? I wanted to do something special", Draco said worried. Amelin shook her head. "It's not like that, it's wonderful but I feel like I'm ripping you off." Draco smiled, reached over the table for Amelin's Hand squeezing it slightly. "You don't need to, after all I'm doing this of my own free will." Amelin returned his smile and the waitress came back to take their orders. "So, tell me something about you", Amelin asked after the waitress had left again. "What would you like to know?" Draco asked looking at her curiously. "Well since I almost know nothing about you almost everything. Draco laughed briefly and then thought where he should start. "Fine", he finally said. "My name is Draco Lucius Malfoy, I was born on the 5th July 1980. When I was eleven I went to a boarding school which I attended until two years ago and now I'm sitting here with a beautiful woman." Amelin blushed looking on the table, then she looked back at Draco. "Lucius?" she pried. "The name of my father", Draco said matter of factly. "I'll take it you don't have a good relationship with him. Thanks." The last word was directed at the waitress who brought them their starters. Draco shook his head and speared a lettuce leaf with his fork. For a while they sat there in silence eating their starters. "What about you?" Draco then asked. Amelin looked at him confused with her head tilted. "It's your turn to tell me something." "Oh let's see. Well as you know my name is Amelin Smith. No second name. My Dad is English, my Mum is from France, they met when Dad was on a business trip in Paris. I won't tell you my birthday, I only tell you that you're slightly older than me. I attended a normal high school and know I'm going to university. Oh yeah and I have a little brother." "Do your relatives have names?" Draco asked laughing. "You're the one to talk I also only know the name of your father", Amelin returned laughing. In the meantime they had received their main courses. "Touché. My mother is called Narcissa." Amelin smiled she liked flower names for women. "That's a beautiful name. By the way what's that with yours?" Amelin asked putting a piece of her steak into her mouth. "The family of my mother has a weakness for names with stellar constellation. My aunt-" "Ted's grandmother?" Amelin interrupted him. "Exactly. Her name is Andromeda and mother had a cousin with the name Sirius." Amelin shook her head smiling. "What about your family." "No stars, but my Mum as a weakness for French first names doesn't matter that the English can't pronounce them right and before you ask, Dad's name is Max, Mum Pierrette and my brother Lucien even though he mostly calls himself Luke." Draco choked on his champagne. "Lucien?" he asked after he had collected himself. Amelin nodded. "I hope you don't mind?" she asked unsure. Draco shook his head. "No problem, if I ever met him I'll just call him Luke." Amelin smiled, because this statement suggested that they would see each other again. "How does it come that you have no problem with it?" Amelin wanted to know. Draco raised an eyebrow. "Whit what?" "With our names, you pronounce them perfectly", Amelin laughed. "Oh that", Draco laughed as well. "Well my father thought it would be good for me to learn a foreign language that's why I learned French before I went to the boarding school." "Tu parlais français?" Amelin asked surprised. "Not really, it's been a while. But I still understand some things and to pronounce names right isn't magic." Amelin nodded in understanding. After that the two talked about harmless things. Draco made Amelin laugh a lot because he liked her laugh so much and wanted to hear it as much as possible. Through this he smiled a lot and Amelin thought that he should smile more, because it suited him which made Draco blush. When they already had reached dessert Draco suddenly said: "You still haven't answered my question." Amelin looked confused at him over her sundae. "What question?" she wanted to know. "Well, why are you working in a strip club." "Oh", Amelin said putting her spoon aside. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to", Draco said quickly when he saw her expression. Amelin looked at Draco for a while, tilted her head, sighed and finally said. "Since I was little I wanted to become a teacher and even though my parents like it that I'm going to university they would prefer if it was law or medicine." "What does that have to do with your job?" Draco asked confused. "Well", Amelin started circling the rim of her glass with her finger. "The studies aren't exactly cheap and I don't have no scholarship, my parents have the opinion that if I really wanted to study teaching I would have to pay for it myself. That's why I needed a job." Draco reached over the table for her hand and Amelin looked at him. "Couldn't you have done some other job?" he wanted to know. For some reason it bothered him that Amelin undressed herself in front of strange men even though he would probably not have met her if it wasn't like that. Amelin shook her head. "All other jobs didn't pay enough or I would have had to be available on call, which is not possible because of my studies. I was about to quit as Sophie came up with the idea. She's been working in this club since we've been eighteen. At first I only cleaned and helped the girls with their costumes. Then one of them got hurt and the boss asked me if I wouldn't dance. He offered me a lot of money, so I did it under the condition that the men wouldn't touch me." "I see, that's why Blaise had to reach so deep into his pocket that you danced for me." Amelin nodded. "I know you probably think I'm a hussy." Quickly Draco shook his head and squeezed her hand again. "Of course not. I understand you, you wanted to build you future without your parents interfering. I can understand it," Draco assured her, and judging from what Amelin saw in his eyes, he was telling the truth. "Thanks Draco", she whispered and they both returned to their desserts. When they were finished Draco paid for them both and brought Amelin back to her dorm. "Thanks Draco, I really enjoyed the night", Amelin said when they stood in front of her door. "Me too. I hope we can do that again sometime", he said visibly nervous. Amelin smiled up to him. "I'd love to. Good night Draco", she said leaning forward a little and kissing him on the cheek. "Good night", Draco whispered as Amelin turned away and entered her apartment. Dopy he laid his hand on his cheek grinning like an idiot. What was this woman doing with him?
