Chisaki laughed uproariously. They had fallen right into his trap so easily. The fighting against that blonde haired kid hadn't been too difficult. Sure, he was slippery and strong, but all it took was a touch for Chisaki to repair himself. But now he was faced with the people that took Eri away from him. And they had nowhere to run now.
He smiled to himself as he touched the ground and sank into it as the ground simply crumbled around him. A seal of stone supplanted where he was standing before and covered up the hole. Shortly after, the same thing happened to Lemillion and the cloaked figure that had gotten a hit in.
"Are you all alright in there?" Sir Nighteye asked from outside the stone wall that had been created by Overhaul.
"We're fine, but Lemillion has been attacked and incapacitated. Him, his assailant, and Overhaul went underground." Izuku yelled back.
"Be careful." Shouta called out. "He might be on the move, but he might still be here. We're going to try to find a way over this wall."
"I'll listen in." Kyouka said. "I'll probably be able to hear his movements." She crouched down to the floor and plugged her jacks in. With closed eyes, her brow furrowed.
The ground split from directly beneath her as a hand latched onto her face. Izuku watched as Kyouka's eyes went wide with fear. "Izu-" she started. A single tear rolled down her face as she made direct eye contact with Izuku. Her speech was interrupted as her body went up in a bright blast of purple energy.
Four hands emerged from the hole and lifted Overhaul into sight.. He now sported a second pair of arms around where his initial shoulder blades were as well as a set of jacks coming out of his ears.
"Everything is so loud." Overhaul said. "I can hear it all. I can hear how fast your heart is beating, Snake Eyes. I can hear your fear."
"You fucking bastard…" Izuku said. His mind went blank save for one thing: the desire to destroy the man in front of him.
"Everything that I had been setting up for years, taken away by you because you wanted to play the hero." Overhaul said with a sneer. "Look at where that led you." He laughed and stood straight, staring directly at Izuku's mask. "Eri was everything for my plan, and you took her from me. So I'm going to take everything from you. All of your friends. One. By. One."
He leaned down and placed all four of his hands on the ground. The earth shook beneath all of them as stone spears began to jut out of the ground. Izuku's mind was working on overdrive as Analysis was activated in tandem with Luck. Every step was placed with precision to make it so that he wasn't impaled. His comrades jumped to the sides as wave after wave of deadly force was sent against them.
Mei ran to the outer edge of the wall. With her grappling hook, she managed to climb up to the top of it and set up a defensive sniper position. Hitoshi tried to follow her, but a stray piece of rubble cut through his rope, leaving him stranded on the ground. Shouto was fighting the stone with his own chunks of ice, and he seemed to be doing well, but his actions quickly began to slow down. Fumikage jumped off of one of the stone spikes and into the air. Dark Shadow caught him on the fall, and he managed to move around to the other side of Overhaul before any spikes could have their way to him. Izuku simply lost track of where Himiko went, but he knew she hadn't fallen to the attack.
Fumikage's flanking maneuver soon proved effective as Dark Shadow knocked Overhaul off balance with a shearing strike, only to be recalled to Fumikage immediately afterwards.
A shot from one of Mei's guns immobilized Overhaul on the ground, but soon the adhesive from that shot was reduced to dust. The new jacks that Overhaul possessed shot into various earthen formations. Each one blew up into thousands of smaller shrapnel.
"You're wasting time, wanna-be heroes." Overhaul said. "Soon I will have all of you in my arsenal. You're all- Ack!" He was interrupted as Himiko plunged a knife into Overhaul's back.
"You do a whole lot of talking, Overhaul." Himiko said, draining some of his blood into a vial. She dashed away out of range of his own attack and stared him down. "Bottoms up." She said, peeling back her mask and downing the vial of blood.
"You sick fuck." Overhaul said. Then his eyes grew wide as he saw Himiko morph into a copy of him. "So that's your power… A disease, but you could prove useful."
"Shut up! You talk too much!" Himiko said, dashing at the man. Two arms swiped at her, but she managed to duck underneath both of them and firmly plant her hands on the ground beneath him. More earthen spikes burst forth from the ground and impaled Overhaul on them. A wave of ice then covered Overhaul completely.
Only then did other combatants make their way onto the top of the wall with Mei.
"Overwatch, what happened?" Shouta asked.
"Overhaul got Heartquake. She's now… part of him. Everyone managed to immobilize him thanks to Changeling and Dragon." Mei explained.
"Your two newest members are really pulling the weight here." Shouta said.
"They're just powerhouses. We'll get it done. We'll make her sacrifice worth it." Mei said.
"I hope so. We've already had some police deaths. One more is already more than enough."
The other people began to climb down the wall into the arena as Hitoshi approached Overhaul.
"He's frozen?" He asked.
"Yeah. We'll see what we can do." Shouto said.
"Pro heroes are here. Excellent work on this raid." Sir Nighteye said.
"Yeah, you're all naturals at this." Fatgum said. "You guys seriously need to take someone up on the trainin' offer. Once you get proper trainin' and understand how this is supposed to work, you'll be all good for professional settings."
"Hmmm…" Hitoshi said as he got closer to Overhaul, completely ignoring what the two heroes had just said. He backed up suddenly when cracks began to form in the ice. "Shit!" The ice burst open, and two arms extended outwards. One came into contact with Hitoshi's face while the other extended towards Fatgum.
Hitoshi went up in a similar blast of energy that Kyouka had done earlier, whereas the arm hadn't reached Fatgum just yet. Overhaul, now with even more arms, stood strong as he finished extending the arm towards Fatgum. Contact was made. Nothing happened.
Shouta's hair stood up as he erased Overhaul's quirk. "I wasn't fast enough, but I can save you!" He said to Fatgum. "Get away from him!"
The rest of the ice cracked apart, and Overhaul stood hunched over due to the rock spires impaling him. He simply pushed Fatgum away with surprising strength. The large man was seemingly launched, as he skipped across the floor.
"Come forth! Midnight Berserk!" Fumikage yelled. A roar filled the air as Dark Shadow grew to enormous size and swatted away Overhaul. The man flew and slammed into the wall of the arena, cracking the stone. Dust covered the area.
Overhaul laughed as thuds could be heard from within the cloud of dust. Soon he stepped out of the dust, each of the spikes that had been impaling him were gone, and the wounds closed.
"Oh, this is great… I'm surprised. This is actually a first for me." Overhaul said. "I might actually have to try my hardest against you."
Izuku stood there. He hadn't moved since the onslaught stopped. He couldn't move. He had watched his girlfriend, who he loved, be taken away from him. He had admitted that he loved her and played it off as a joke, but he wanted to hear it from her, too. He had wanted to save people together. He had wanted to go through their life together. It was all too soon. It was all too soon…
And then… And then Hitoshi, the guy that had quickly become his best guy friend over the years… He suffered the same fate…
This was all Izuku's fault. Everything that had led them here was because of him. He fell to his knees.
Overhaul noticed this. "What's wrong, Snake Eyes? Have I finally broken you?" He laughed again and spoke, but this time, it was with Kyouka's voice. "You let me die. What kind of leader does that?"
Izuku's eyes went wide. Kyouka. Kyouka… KYOUKA! "You bastard! You took her from me! You're going to pay! I'll-" Izuku felt himself freeze, trapped in his own mind. He knew this. This was Hitoshi's quirk in action. Himiko, no longer in the form of Overhaul, quickly ran over to him and shook him out of it.
"Snap out of it, Snake Eyes! This isn't your fault. We have to stop him." She yelled.
Izuku, now out of his rather short stupor, hardened his resolve and glared at Overhaul. Finally activating his mask, he rolled the two dice to be ones, a red glow now permeating the somewhat dark atmosphere of the underground.
He stepped forward, glaring at Overhaul. "I will destroy you…" He said quietly.
Overhaul laughed uproariously. "I'm going to love watching you try, filth."
For a while, she didn't know who she was, where she was, or why she was. She was simply a fractured consciousness drifting in a void. A wave of… something passed over her. She was… She was Kyouka Jirou. Right…? Yes. Kyouka Jirou, Heartquake in the vigilante gang of Societas Requiem. Kyouka felt cold. She felt weightless. She felt… empty… She felt afraid. And then she was able to see. She saw her boyfriend. She saw her comrades. Everything flashed by so quickly. Before she knew it, she was frozen in ice, stuck inside that monster's body. She could see and hear everything. She could feel everything.
"This is it…" She thought. "I'm going to die with Overhaul. Trapped here as he uses me against my friends."
The ice cracked around them. She saw a hand reach out and grab Hitoshi by the face. And then he was gone. Overhaul's body felt stronger now.
Another voice rang out in the empty darkness.
"Where am I?" Kyouka heard Hitoshi ask.
"Can you hear me?" Kyouka asked.
"Kyouka, is that you?"
"Yeah… we're part of Overhaul now."
"You're not dead?!" He asked, shocked. "I'm not dead?!"
"Not yet. But I can't think of any way to have us not be in here. We might as well be dead…" Her voice trailed off. If she had a head right now, it would be hung in defeat.
Then her attention snapped to awareness as she heard her own voice come out of Overhaul's mouth. "You let me die. What kind of leader does that?" And the strange thing was that she felt like she was talking as she said it.
"He's using my quirk." Hitoshi said.
"And my voice… Izuku…" If Kyouka could cry right now, she would be.
"I will destroy you…" The two of them heard Izuku say.
Overhaul laughed. "I'm going to love seeing you try, filth."
Izuku walked past the heroes that stood between himself and Overhaul.
"Snake Eyes! Wait!" Sir Nighteye called out.
"No." Izuku said simply, still walking towards the man.
"You march to your own death." Overhaul said. All of his arms were placed on the ground, and the ground began to shake. Chasms ripped through the ground in sporadic patterns. Rows of spikes formed in front of Overhaul, each of them disconnecting near the tip as they were formed. A volley of stone artillery bombarded the heroes. Izuku stepped to the side. Fatgum lept in front of the aerial assault, blocking most of the fuselage. From the chasms below the ground, a platform raised. The cloaked figure from before rose to the surface.
Dark Shadow roared. Any of the flying spikes that entered its reach were obliterated before any damage was done. It blitzed over the ravines and brought its claws down on Overhaul full force. All six arms raised to block the attack. The ground beneath him cracked like a meteoric impact.
Two of Overhaul's arms touched the ground again, changing the form of the stone into a massive warhammer that was immediately swung at Dark Shadow.
Shouto's vents on his costume flared to life as he sent a wave of blazing inferno towards Overhaul. Shouta took the opportunity to use his quirk on Overhaul. Overhaul tried to deflect the attack, but with his quirk not activating, he was stuck as the fire enveloped him completely.
Scorched and charred, Overhaul emerged from the flames. He was breathing heavily. One of his hands was constantly clutching at himself, ready to heal himself the moment that his quirk worked again.
Ice formed around him as Shouto launched another assault. Now reformed, Overhaul held his arms out, grabbing onto some ice spikes. They melted in his grasp, turning into water droplets as the force of their projection pushed them by him.
Dark Shadow reared back for another strike, but Overhaul blocked it with four of his arms, parrying the attack and riposting with an uppercut from his massive hammer.
"Changeling!" Fumikage yelled, straining from the force of the hammer swing. "It's time to open the gate!"
"Are you sure?" Himiko asked.
"Yes!" Fumikage yelled back as he was knocked back again by the hammer.
Himiko took a vial out of her cloak and downed it quickly. Her form shifted into a matching version of Fumikage. The new Dark Shadow roared in equal intensity as Himiko activated Midnight Berserk.
As both of them blitzed towards Overhaul, their attacks were mirrored. Even though Overhaul was able to dodge or block most of them, he was still being pushed back into a corner.
Both Fumikages yelled at the same time as they finally succeeded in cornering him. "Midnight Berserk: Hell's Gate!" A flurry of attacks from both Dark Shadows wracked Overhaul's body with lacerations and bruises. They pinned Overhaul's hands in the darkness and pressed them all back against the wall as Fumikage and Himiko were launched out of the writhing masses of shadow with a flying kick only to be pulled back in immediately afterwards.
Overhaul was picked up and slammed into the wall and floor over and over again, his hands covered and prevented from activating his quirk, though he tried many times.
The absolute power of the tremors shook the walls and the ceiling. Soon dust and small rocks began to fall from the ceiling, and after about a minute of it, the ceiling itself started to fall away, opening up the light of the day's sky into this cavern.
Eri was tired of hiding. It had been a long time since they had left, so there shouldn't be too much of a chance of her getting caught here. Quietly sneaking out of the van, she moved towards the building. Towards the building that she had run away from so much. She stopped just a few steps in. She couldn't move any closer. She was terrified. Her hands began to shake, and her visions went blurry. Tears started to form in her eyes. Her legs gave out as she fell to the ground.
The ground began to shake. Powerful tremors ripped through the area as the ground right in front of her began to crack and fall. She jumped back, scooting by a fence post as she did so. She looked around. The heroes had taken down most of the bad guys. They started to run towards the building, yelling about something. She looked down the hole. She saw the people that saved her. And she also saw him. Being slung around and hit into the walls and floor.
A sound startled her. She leaned away from the sound, which just so happened to be forward. She was falling.
Fumikage was getting ready for another strike against Overhaul when he felt a sharp pain in his back. He turned around to see that the one spider lady had one of her spines embedded in his back.
"Where did she come from?!" Fumikage yelled. He kicked off of her, and Dark Shadow covered him again. Himiko turned to see, and in the process, her Dark Shadow let go of Overhaul.
The woman took the opportunity to dash towards Overhaul, grabbing his nearly unconscious body and dashing away.
"I don't know! I'm scanning for entrances now!" She began to gaze around the room, searching for any additional tunnels that she hadn't seen before when movement caught her eye.
Eri.
Eri was falling from the ceiling. Acting quickly, she launched a grappling hook into the air and swung. It snagged on a craggy rock face, but she had already jumped. She swung quickly, reaching out for the falling child. As the rope swung her past the bottom of her arc, she was able to catch Eri. Unfortunately, the rope snapped under the abrupt new weight, and the two of them fell to the ground. Mei was able to tuck into a roll to take the brunt of the fall, keeping Eri safe.
She tumbled into a crouching position, dropping what was left of the grappling hook and drawing her sidearm. She shielded Eri as she saw the spider woman standing in front of her.
"How are you here?" Mei asked.
"They couldn't stop me." She said. "They were delicious. Arachne, by the way." She said, offering her hand.
"I don't care." Mei scowled.
"Rude." Arachne smirked. She began to step forward, but her foot was stopped by a glue round. Three more shots impacted around her feet. "You bitch!"
"There's a child here. Who's rude now?" Mei said.
Before Arachne could answer, a glue round made contact with her mouth. Three more shots, all collecting around her arms and spines, were fired.
Overhaul had tried to heal himself, but Shouta's gaze was locked on him.
He started to crawl towards Eri on the ground. "You're here. I knew you'd come back to me…" His voice was dry and gravely.
"N-No…" Eri said softly. "I'm not here for you…"
"Are you here to help them? You know your power only brings pain." Overhaul said, still dragging himself forward on the pavement by his six arms.
"N-No…" Eri said again. Her horn began to glow.
"You can't save them. You can't even save yourself. I'm the only one that can protect you."
"You only hurt me!" Eri said, louder this time.
Eri began to glow, and then so did Overhaul. The man began to writhe on the ground in pain as the wounds on his body healed themselves. Soon, one pair of arms retracted into the body and Hitoshi was shunted out of Overhaul's body. A few more seconds, and Kyouka's body was ejected as well.
In his pain, Overhaul's eyes went wide. If she kept doing this, he would die.
A rumbling began nearby. A roar echoed through the cavern.
Shouta blinked and then looked at Eri, shutting her down. Almost immediately, she passed out from exhaustion.
Izuku dashed over to Kyouka and grabbed her tightly. "You're alive… Thank fuck you're alive…"
"Where am I?" Kyouka asked, looking around.
"You… You don't remember?" Izuku asked.
Overhaul groaned, and that seemed to break Kyouka out of whatever she was feeling. "That fucker!" She stood up shakily and began to walk towards Overhaul's now back to normal form. With a moving start, she ran up and soccer kicked him in the face, activating her boots to blast his head with powerful sound waves. Following that, she used her gauntlets to punch him in the face much in the same way.
"Heartquake, stop it." Nighteye said.
Kyouka stopped right before another punch landed on Overhaul's face. He was long unconscious at that point. Kyouka spit on him as she stood up and walked away.
Izuku watched her walk away. He heard a click from behind him and turned around, Analysis already in overdrive. A split second after the click, another roar filled the space. As Izuku turned around, he saw the hooded man from earlier shoot a gun at Izuku. The bullet was the same type as what Red Riot had been hit by earlier a few weeks ago.
Izuku instantly activated Luck and saw what he could change. Finally, he saw the "Bullet Breaks: 15%" option and increased that as far as he could, which happened to be 100% now, but as soon as he did, the numbers turned gray and his head hurt.
"Of course." Izuku said.
Rocks and pebbles from the ceiling had been falling the entire time, but the roars from earlier had shaken more loose. The faling debris ended up connecting with the bullet as it got less than a foot away from Izuku's face. Once the bullet hit the stones, the casing and needle shattered instantly.
"Gotcha!" Fatgum yelled as he grabbed the guy who shot at Izuku.
Shouta looked around. Everyone here was incapacitated or immobilized. "We should start heading back up. Ryukyuu might be able to give rides to those that want or need them. We-"
He was interrupted by another roar as a massive creature jumped over the edge of the arena. It looked like a sort of abomination. Like it shouldn't work. It began to fly in place below the massive hole in the ceiling.
"We need to get out of here, Bismeth." A somewhat familiar voice called out.
"Oumo?!" Izuku yelled.
"I don't want to fight. I just want to save these creatures." Oumo said.
"You were working for this asshole!" Mei replied, now having picked up Eri and having moved next to Hitoshi.
"Only to get to these animals. I was never one for all of the fancy stuff like bureaucracy or turf wars like with the League of Villains." Oumo said.
"You still worked for him, so that means you're still going to be arrested." Nighteye said.
"I'm afraid not, good sir. Today is where I take my stand. Or, rather, flight." Oumo said.
"If you wanted to protect the animals, why did you attack us like you did?" Himiko asked.
"I had to keep up the illusion or else I'd end up as a spot on the wall. The amount of bonded beasts that have died today are well beyond what I'm okay with. I have Bismeth. I managed to find David and Edith. All of the others are dead." He said solemnly.
"David and Edith? Bismeth? What are these names?" Red Riot asked.
"They are my friends. My friends get names. I have to protect them. Goodbye." Oumo said. Bismeth flew out of the hole and into the sky.
"That's…" Kyouka trailed off.
"I have no words." Izuku said.
"Overhaul is out. We need to get him out of here to the police as soon as possible." Mei said.
"Right." Sir Nighteye said. "We'll see if we can get someone's attention up there."
"Good idea." Shouta said.
"I'll go." Mei said. She pulled out a grappling hook and grabbed hold of Eri. "Mastermind can come too. You have a spare cartridge too, right?"
Hitoshi nodded slowly and pulled another wrapped grappling hook out of his coat. He loaded it in, as did Mei.
Mei had a hold of Eri as she fired her shot. The hook sailed through the air until it latched onto the road above. Hitoshi's hook did as well.
"Hey Mastermind, press the button in front of the trigger. I added it a few days ago." Mei said, pressing the button on her own. A mechanical whirring sound started, and soon, Mei and Eri were being pulled towards her hook into the air. Hitoshi followed her shortly after.
The two of them climbed onto the road. Hitoshi started running towards the heroes. Mei did not. "Are you coming?" He asked.
"I'm taking Eri back to the van. I don't know how she got here, but I need to make sure that she doesn't get out again. Tell the others where I am." Mei said before running off.
Hitoshi ran up to the front gate. The Ryukyuu agency had wrapped up everything outside. Most of them had gone inside at some point for a reason that Hitoshi didn't know. But Ryukyuu was outside with her student workers. They had just seen Oumo fly off and were getting ready for pursuit.
"Ryukyuu! We've subdued Overhaul and we need help with evac." Hitoshi yelled.
"We're on our way." She yelled back, activating her quirk and flying down the hole.
Over the next few minutes, everyone was taken up to the surface. The police took away an unconscious and quirk cuffed Overhaul. Arachne was bound in high tension ropes and chains and locked away in one of the police vans.
"You did a lot here today." Nighteye said to Izuku as everything was settling down.
"Thank you, Sir." Izuku said.
"We've had a lot of people die here today…" Sir said. "Several police officers lost their lives today in the line of duty. And some heroes…" Sir trailed off. "But my vision didn't come true. You and your friends didn't die. Unfortunately, some others did. Even one death was one too many."
"You used your quirk on me?" Izuku asked.
"The day we first met." Sir looked at the police vehicles people were being loaded into. "Should have looked into Bubble Girl's eyes instead. Maybe she wouldn't have died if we knew for sure."
Izuku reeled in surprise. "She's dead? What about Rock Lock?"
"Dead as well." Sir nodded solemnly. "Just received the word about it a few minutes ago. Midnight was shaken quite heavily by it. I think she's going to need some psychiatric help."
"That dumbass!" Izuku yelled.
"You may have been right in that instance, yes. A lot of heroes are deeply prideful about their position. They're not going to listen to someone who didn't go through the steps they did." Sir explained. "They knew what they were getting into. They knew what could happen to them. You had better get out of here. The rest of your squad has already gone to the van. The police are going to start looking for you soon. Their funeral will be in a few days. You should come. I'll make sure nothing happens." With that, Sir walked away.
True to what Sir said, Izuku saw some policemen looking his way. He quickly ducked into an alley and made his way back to their van.
"Took you long enough." Kyouka said as Izuku entered the van. Izuku said nothing, but he took his mask off and kissed her hard. After a few seconds, the kiss ended. "What was that for?" She asked, stunned.
"I thought I lost you. I love you." Izuku said.
"I love you too. I'm here." Kyouka said, brushing her hand through his hair.
"You know who else is here?" Mei asked.
"That is a good point." Himiko said. "Eri, what are you doing here?"
Eri looked downcast and mumbled something under her breath.
"What was that?" Hitoshi asked.
"I didn't wanna be alone…" Eri said. "I didn't know we were coming here…" She sniffled, tears rolling down her face.
Himiko slid right next to her. "Hey, hey, it's okay. We just want you to be safe, okay?" Eri slowly nodded. "We knew that we were coming here. We didn't want you to get hurt. We wanted to take care of the mean man that hurt you. But we've done that now. He won't be able to hurt you anymore."
"R-Really?" Eri asked shakily.
"Really." Mei smiled. "He's been taken care of."
"Th-Thank you…" Eri said.
"It was no problem." Kyouka smiled. "Now let's go home. Get some rest."
"Yeah. We need it after that one." Izuku said, sighing.
A large truck pulled up next to a police caravan on the highway. A rather buxom woman with red hair rolled down the window and waved at the officer driving the truck next to them.
The officer looked in the seat next to him, and when he didn't see anyone, he turned back and gave a slight handwave and a shy smile.
"Oh, that's so cute." The woman said. "You're sure this is the one, Compress?"
"Yes, Slice. This is the truck that he's in." Mr. Compress said from the back of the truck.
"Wonderful." She smiled and launched needles from her hair into the tires of the truck next to her.
The officer tried to get ahold of his vehicle, but the sudden tire pop was too much for him to save himself from. The truck tumbled over itself multiple times before the back was crunched open by the impacts.
Mr. Compress threw some of his marbles into the road and released their contents: concrete barriers suddenly sprang up in the middle of the highway. The remaining trucks in the caravan as well as multiple cars all crashed into them, either incapacitating or killing their drivers.
Nine slowed the truck down, parked it, and got out. He slowly walked over to the contents of the truck: a gurney with the leader of the Shie Hassaikai, Kai Chisaki, strapped to it.
"Excellent reconnaissance, Compress." Nine congratulated.
Overhaul's eyes went wide. "You bastard, you were supposed to be working with me!"
"We've had a change of management, unfortunately." Nine stepped forward. "Now hold still, you have something I want."
Nine placed his hand on Chisaki's face as teal waves of energy began to flow from the Yakuza member to Nine.
"What are you doing?" Chisaki asked.
"It's simple: I'm taking your namesake. You don't deserve it." Nine responded. The energy flow stopped. It was finished. "Now that I have this, you're no longer needed. Goodbye." With a single touch, Nine activated Overhaul and obliterated Chisaki.
"An excellent new ability, sir." Compress said.
"He wasted it. There was so much that he could do with it, and yet, he primarily fought with spikes from the ground. And now his dream of bringing the Yakuza back dies with him. I hope your actions towards your leader was worth it." Nine shook his head and then looked at the pool of blood where Chisaki used to be. "Don't worry, though. I'm much more creative than you were." He turned to his compatriots. "We're moving out. Chimera, Magne, and Shigaraki are waiting for us at the docks. Don't want to keep them waiting."
All of them piled back into their truck and sped off, leaving no real trace of them having ever been there.
