Rise wasn't feeling good, so I thought I might get this chapter out.
No beta, all mistakes are mine.
"You know, this really is boring stuff," Shisui said from his seat.
Ever since that time with Itachi a week ago, Sakura had only been summoned by Shisui, and she was glad for it.
Not because Itachi didn't give her the answers she wanted, well… Some of it was because of that reason, but mostly she was happy to be around the oldest demon because he was simply great to be around.
From what she learned, the demons took shifts when it came to the portal they had to watch over. Sometimes all three would look through it if it was interesting enough, but today it was only Sakura and the oldest demon.
As they looked through the portal, Shisui sat in the chair sideways, letting his legs hang off the arm rest moving back and forth like a child would while his head was being held up by his hand.
"I've been watching this guy on and off for a while and though his expiration date is soon, he's not going to come here."
Sakura turned her head to look at the demon, smiling.
"Yes, but I bet he will come down here soon."
Shisui's ears perked up at the word "bet."
"What do you want to bet?"
The pinkette hummed for a second while she thought.
"I bet a week's worth of chores that he will be here within the next three days."
Shisui noted the smirk she had, but held his hand out anyway.
"I bet that he will come here after those three days you said."
Sakura raised a brow at that, looking at the hand he held out.
"And what do you get if you win?"
Without skipping a beat, he already had his answer.
"I will get you to myself for a week."
She looked at him confused, never thinking it worked that way.
"...for chores?"
"Yes, but then sometimes I just want company, you know? It gets lonely down here sometimes."
Sakura saw that Shisui wasn't lying. The expression on his face for that split second told her he did get a little lonely. As much as she didn't want to admit it, she did too sometimes. Yeah, there were a couple of others around her, but she didn't really know them, so she did feel a little lonely as well.
She reached out and held onto Shisui's hand, shaking it in agreement.
"Fine. If you win, you get me to yourself for a week. Though you aren't going to win. I'm good with these kinds of things. When I worked at the hospital, I was in the ICU andI would just know when the patients would pass. Normally I was spot on, missed a couple of times but usually I was good at guessing."
"Oh, I know," Shisui admitted with a chuckle, confusing Sakura.
"How would you know?" She asked, sitting herself up straight in her chair.
"I-uh, mean, you would seem like a person that'd be good at it is all."
At first, everything he said confused her, but then it began to click.
"You guys watched me?" She asked, a little bit of anger coming through.
"I mean... yes? It is our job, you know." He answered meekly.
Sakura eyed him, not happy to have heard that. It would make sense though, seeing as it is their job.
"I'm going to ask a question, and I hope you can answer it." She said, a storm brewing behind her eyes.
"If you guys watched me, then that means you know how I died. So… how did I die?
Shisui shrank in his chair, refusing to look at the pinkette while he thought out his answer.
"I- can't tell you that." He finally answered minutes later.
Sakura got up from her chair, making her way over to the demon's seat.
"...and why can't you tell me?"
Still refusing to look up, Shisui kept his eyes to the side.
"It's not like I remember why everyone has died. So it's not like I can't tell you, but I just can't remember. If that makes sense."
Furious, Sakura turned around and left the room, slamming the door behind her. She wasn't paying attention to where she was going when she ran into something a little bit bigger than her.
I'm sorry," She mumbled looking up, wanting to just get around whomever, or whatever, she ran into.
"You could at least look at me when you apologize," The voice said.
Feeling a little guilty, Sakura looked up to see who it was. Thankfully, it was only Kakashi.
"Maa, Sakura-chan. You look like you're about to rip someone apart."
Angry tears in her eyes, Sakura simply nodded, not knowing what to say.
Kakashi sighed before putting an arm around her shoulder, leading her away from the office of sorts and to what Sakura thought was his room. There was only one bed and it had that God awful orange book on the pillow, so she had to know it was his. Kakashi led her to the bed, telling her to sit down as he brought his own chair across from her.
Sakura sniffed, but she didn't let the tears fall yet.
"Okay. I'm not the best when it comes to advice, but I can listen." Kakashi said, reaching past Sakura to grab his beloved book.
Sakura took a deep breath, willing the tears away.
"I- I don't know how to explain it…"
"That works for me. I have all the time in the world. So bluntly tell me and I'll try to help as best I can."
Sakura closed her eyes for a moment, opening them to answer his question.
"I just found out that Shisui and them watched me before I died, but neither Itachi or Shisui can tell me how I died. It's like they know, but they won't say anything."
Kakashi nodded his head, bringing his book up to read. Normally Sakura would find it rude, but that was just who he was.
"It took me a while before I knew what happened to me."
Sakura looked up at him curiously, wanting him to go on.
"I never really talked about it much, but I was basically killed by an angry mob of sorts. Back when, being bi- or any kind of gay was a sign of the devil. You weren't really protected from stuff like that like they are today. I was in a relationship with another man, the guys I served with found out and basically beat me to death. You see, I was in the military in the early mid nineteen hundreds and a lot was frowned upon back then. All they knew was that I was in a relationship with another man. Not who the man was, but that I was doing something they saw 'unnatural'. "
Sakura reached out, putting her hand on top of his.
"I'm sorry that happened, but why would that bring you here?"
"Hmm… probably for the fact that I killed a few people as they beat me. Murder is murder, even if it's for self defense. I don't think it has anything to do with the while 'being gay' thing." He said the last part with a tiny laugh..
"So I've been here for about a hundred years, hence the seniority."
"But how did you find out that any of this had happened?"
"Eh, I made friends with a couple of people down here, that helped."
"Who was that?"
Kakashi rubbed his chin, deciding on whether or not to tell her.
"Have you met Obito yet?"
Sakura shook her head no.
"Well, since I want to help you, I'll introduce you two and you can get your answer from him."
Kakashi stood up, motioning for Sakura to stand with him. He placed his arm around her shoulder again and led them out of the room. Their walk was quiet, but Sakura was grateful for that. She simply felt bad about Kakashi's story and would have tried to make him feel better.,
He led the both of them to an area she hadn't been to before, up to doors that were rather huge, bigger than anything she's seen while being here.
He placed his hand on the handle, but before he pulled, he turned to look at Sakura.
"Ready? Obito has an… eccentric kind of personality."
As Sakura nodded her head yes, Kakashi pulled the door open, letting her in first.
Look, in my head, Kakashi is bi/pan. He is into anyone no matter if they have dangly bits or not. He is also open with his sexuality post war and all. Though in my mind, Kakashi's heart will always belong to Yamato/Tenzou/Kinoe. Always.
Time to shamelessly promote myself, but if you have a Facebook and like Fanfics, then come on over to Fanfiction Addicts Anonymous where I will recommend 1-2 fics daily. A lot will be in the Naruto fandom (because I read a lot of that) but there will be others from other fandoms as well.

There's also a group, where people share their favourite fics, which is of the same name and linked to the like page.
Anywho, give it a like if you're interested.
