10-Years Later

(Chapter 4)

.

.

Danny Phantom felt his blood pumping as he soared through the starry night sky. Something rotten was in the air and he knew exactly what it was... Ember McLain and her umpteenth comeback tour. He'd seen the broadcast on tv like everyone else and immediately called Tucker and Sam before jumping into action. The Rocker ghost's concert was being held in the town square and he was planning to take her off the air once again.

Although... despite the danger he felt a ghost of a smile creeping its way onto his face.

It'd been a while since he and Ember last tangoed and the anticipation for their next dance really got his heart racing. In the past a fight with the rocker ghost had him nervous and on edge but now he was just stoked.

He momentarily distracted from his thoughts by flashing lights off in the distance, and the faint sound of music that only grew louder as he approached. He could even see people down below making their way over to either listen or check to see what was going on.

Your life goes on without me
My life, a losing game
But you should, you should not doubt me
You will remember my name

Danny knew that voice and it sent a shiver down his spine. He was so close now and he could hear the roar of the crowd on the ground and see the blue flames consuming everything in their path. He was confused for a second before stopping dead in his tracks to see the blue-haired ghost shredding on stage.

Ember looked so at peace on the stage with her guitar in hand and her lips close to the mic. The way she played, the way she moved, how she sang, it was clear as day she was born to perform. She was in her element and when she got going there was nobody better than her.

Oh, Ember, you will remember
Ember, one thing remains
Ember, so warm and tender
You will remember my name

As mesmerizing as it was to watch her perform, he had a job to do. He took careful aim with his finger and fired a perfectly aimed plasma blast at her microphone. The thing of course exploded into a million pieces which annoyed Ember and surprised the audience in attendance.

Said annoyed ghost looked up to find the source of the plasma blast and found her oh so favorite phantom waving back to her.

"Sorry, I hope that one wasn't too expensive." He teased.

"You're not really sorry. If you were then you'd pay me back." She quipped.

"Do you even need money in the Ghost Zone?" He asked before thinking over his question. "Come to think of it, is there even money in the Ghost Zone?"

"Yeah, there is" She smiled sinisterly as she floated up to meet him. "And it talks wherever you go."

Danny didn't have time to react before Ember started to shred on her guitar. A purple fireball fist was let loose and slammed into the half ghost half human hybrid. He let out a scream and was sent hurtling out of the sky into a waiting hotdog cart.

"Ow!" He grunted as his opponent laughed at his pain.

"You know, ketchup actually looks good on you." Ember mocked.

Danny logo was covered in it and no doubt it would be a pain to wash. "Oh yeah?"

He quickly grabbed a bottle of mustard and hurled it at the ghost. She tried to dodge it but he was faster and blasted it, covering the rocker ghost in mustard. "Gross!"

Now it was Danny's turn to laugh. "I don't know, Mustard yellow really brings out the color of your eyes."

Ember growled at having her dark ensemble ruined. "Okay Danny, no more mister nice guy."

She adjusted the knob on her guitar... and wailed away.

To be continued...
