Good Morning - A Pixal season 13 one shot with an unlikely friendship.
"Good morning!" a familiar voice called out from behind her.
"Oh! Good morning!" Pixal jumped, looking up from the mech she was working on. "I didn't expect to have visitors today," She sighed, standing up. She liked working in the courtyard, the fresh air was revitalizing and the view was incredible, but she could only really do it when the ninja were gone. If not, she ran the risk of their antics reversing her progress.
"Sorry I just let myself in," He shrugged, glancing back. "The door was open."
"Oh, not at all," she assured him. "You have anything good today?"
The postman smiled, setting down his bag and pulling out a modest stack of letters. "Well, there's stuff for most of you in here, and a surprising number for Kai, but there's something special for you."
Pixal sifted through the letters, scanning the headings to find what it was he was talking about.
"So, is it still just you up here?" He asked, glancing around.
"Just me," Pixal sighed. "You know, sometimes I wonder if they take these missions solely so that they can leave me with all their unfinished chores," She smirked.
"You know, you really should invite some company up here. Isolation isn't good for anyone. Even a nindroid," he pressed.
"I'm alright," Pixal smiled. "After all, someone has to take care of Ninjago while the ninja are gone."
"Well, I'd say you do it a little more often than that. You act like being Samurai X is a part time gig."
"It's a supporting role," Pixal insisted, finally finding the letter addressed to her. It was a colorful envelope with the words "TO: SAMURAI X" scribbled in marker in large letters on the front. Pixal pulled it from the stack looking at it for a moment.
"He wanted me to make sure you got it as soon as possible."
Pixal looked up from the letter to find the gentle expression crossing his face. She quickly opened the letter pulling out the contents. Inside was a crayon drawing of her alter ego next to a depiction of a small boy dressed in orange. Underneath sat the words
Thank you Samurai X for protecting us
-Tyler
"You matter to a lot of people, Pixal."
She stared at the drawing a moment longer, enjoying the creative craftsmanship.
"Thank you."
"Hey, it's my job," the postman shrugged, picking up his bag again, swinging it around his shoulders. "Have a pleasant day."
"You too!" Pixal called after him as he started to exit.
He gave her a quick wave from the doorway before heading down the stairs, leaving Pixal alone again with the stack of letters… and a smile.
