Amity's intro
Water. Earth. Fire. Air.
Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed her most, she vanished. A hundred years passed, and me, Willow and Gus discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Luz. And although her airbending skills are great, she has a lot to learn before she's ready to save anyone. But I
believe Luz can save the world.
The episode begins with a beautiful sunrise that just peaks above some cliffs. The beams of the morning sun reflect on the water, bathing the whole scene in yellow light. The camera pans to the left, where the group has made camp on the shore. Appa is seen chewing on some grass while the smoke of the nearby campfire rises to the sky. Willow is lying in a blue sleeping bag next to the fire. The camera zooms in on Luz, Amity and Gus on top of Appa. Luz sits on the bison's head and is checking the knots that tie the reins to Appa's horns. Gus is sitting on the saddle, fiddling with their luggage.
(Excitedly.) "Wait 'til you see it, Amity! The Air Temple is one of the most beautiful places in the world!" Luz told her.
(Cautiously) "Luz, I know you're excited, (She turns around to face her.) but it's been a hundred years since you've been home." Amity said
(Smiling broadly.) "That's why I'm so excited!" Luz said excitedly
(Cautiously.) "It's just that ... a lot can change in all that time." Amity said worried about Luz
(Happily.) "I know, but I need to see it for myself." Luz said
Luz jumps off Appa, landing softly due to her airbending. A side-view shows her as she walks over to a snoring Willow, who is lying in her sleeping bag. The shot changes to a view from next to Willow's head, looking up at the approaching airbender.
(Cheerfully.) Wake up, Willow! Air Temple, here we come! (Willow awakens, making groggy noises.)
(Grunting sleepily.) "Uggh! Sleep now. Temple later." Willow said heading back to sleep
Willow turns around, showing her back to Luz and falls back asleep, snoring as soon as her eyes close. Close-up of Luz, whose big eyes blink in surprise. She looks discontent with Willow's attitude, but she quickly smiles mischievously. Luz grabs a small, thin stick.
(Alarmed.) "Willow! Wake up!" (Luz moves the stick up and down the sleeping bag, only touching Willow with the tip of it.) "There's a prickle snake in your sleeping bag!"
(She lazily opens one eye before yelling out in horror.) "Ahh!" (She quickly rises and hops around, still inside the sleeping bag.) "Get it off! Get it off!" (After two hops, Willow slams flat to the ground on top of Gus.) "Ahh!"
Amity giggles, as Willow falls over onto Gus. Close-up of Willow's angry face.
(Happily.) "Great! You're awake! Let's go!" Amity exclaimed.
The scene slowly fades to Ketu Harbor, a naval base where several Fire Nation ships are lined up next to each other. The camera pans to the left to reveal a smaller ship docked between all the others, identical mastodons. Its walkway is down and the small figures of two persons are seen leaving the ship. Cut to a closer shot of Lilith and Kaldo, as they reach the bottom of the walkway.
"Kaldo, I want the repairs made as quickly as possible. I don't want to stay too long and risk losing her trail." Lilith said
(Disinterested.) "You mean the Avatar?" Kaldo asked
(Turns around sharply to face Kaldo, as he slightly backs off.) "Don't mention her name on these docks!" (Makes some wide arm movements.) "Once word gets out that she's alive, every firebender will be out looking for her, and I don't want anyone getting in the way!" Lilith said
(Kaldo and Lilith turn, with shocked expressions on their face, toward the camera in the direction the sound came from.) "Getting in the way of what," (Close-up of a man with big sideburns dressed in a Fire Nation uniform.) "commander Lilith?" The man asked
The man walks over to the duo with his hands held behind his back. Lilith awaits him with her arms crossed with contempt, while Kaldo just stares at him.
(With dislike in her voice.) "Captain Bhao." Lilith said
(Smirks.) "It's commander now. And" (Bows slightly in Kaldo's direction.) "General Kaldo. Great hero of our nation." Bhao said
(Bows back.) "Retired general. It's lieutenant now" Kaldo said
"The Fire Emperor's loyal lieutenant and commander are welcome guests anytime. What brings you to my harbor?" Bhao asked
"Our ship is being repaired." Kaldo said
As Kaldo gestures toward the ship, the camera moves back to show the severely damaged ship.
"That's quite a bit of damage." Bhao said
"Yes." (She holds up one finger, while Kaldo stares disinterested in front of her.) "You wouldn't believe what happened." (She glances at her lieutenant, and angrily commands him as she gestures at Bhao.) "Kaldo! Tell Commander Bhao what happened." Lilith commanded
(Kaldo's eyes open wide in surprise, as she is addressed by Lilith.) "Yes. I will do that." (He happily holds his hand up and relates enthusiastically.) "It was incredible!" (To Lilith, from the corner of his mouth in a confused tone.) "What? Did we crash or something?" Kaldo asked
(Looks at her lieutenant uncomfortably.) "Yes! Right into ... an Earth Kingdom ship!" Lilith said
(In disbelief.) "Really? You must regale me with all of the thrilling details." (Smirks while he gets into Lilith's face.) "Join me for a drink?" Bhao asked
(She averts her gaze and begins to walk away.) "Sorry, but we have to go." Lilith said starting to walk away
Bhao smiles evilly at her as she starts to walk away, but after a few steps, Kaldo places his hand on her shoulder to hold her back.
"Commander Lilith, show Commander Bhao your respect." (Removes his hand from Lilith's shoulder as he faces Bhao while Lilith just slants her eyes.) "We would be honored to join you. Do you have any ginseng tea? It's my favorite." Kaldo said
Kaldo and Bhao walk off screen. Lilith grunts in anger upon hearing Kaldo's tea comment. She growls angrily and firebends a small arc out of annoyance as she turns to walk after them.
The scene cuts to Appa, who is flying above the clouds in the Patola Mountain range. A closer shot
reveals Luz, Amity and Gus sitting atop Appa's head, with Willow on the back in the saddle. Switch
to a close-up of her clutching his stomach as it growls. Close-up of her face, with a look of dismay all
over it.
(Annoyed.) "Hey, stomach? Be quiet, all right? I'm trying to find us some food." Willow said
Willow starts to go through the luggage and gets out a bag. She looks at it for a moment while it sways in the wind. With her tongue out of her mouth full of anticipation, she sticks her hand in the bag and starts to go through it. She looks surprised for a moment, but quickly and with anticipation turns the bag upside down to pour the contents into her hand. Close-up of her gloved hand as only a few crumbs of blubbered seal jerky fall into it.
(Accusingly to the three in front of her.) "Hey! Who ate all of my blubbered seal jerky?!" Willow asked in rage
(Surprised.) "Oh. That was food?" (Happily.) "I used it to start the campfire last night." (The hint of a smile can be heard.) "Sorry." Luz apologized
(Shocked.) "You what?!" (Looks up before slanting his eyes and groans. Longing.) "No wonder the flames smelled so good." Willow said clutching her stomach
Cut to a wider shot, as Appa races past and ascends up to some mountains.
(Excitedly.) "The Patola Mountain range! We're almost there!" Luz said excitedly to her friends
(Uneasily.) "Luz, before we get to the temple, I want to talk to you about the airbenders." Amity said
(Cheerfully.) "What about 'em?" Luz asked
(Close-up of Amity.) "Well, I just want you to be prepared for what you might see. The Fire Nation is ruthless." (Sadly.) "They killed Gus' mother, and they could have done the same to your people." Amity said sadly
(Ponders over her words for a bit. Hopefully.) "Just because no one has seen an airbender, doesn't mean the Fire Nation killed them all. They probably escaped!" Luz said happily
(Places one hand on Aang's shoulder.) "I know it's hard to accept." Amity said
(Cheerfully, as Amity moves her hand back to her side.) "You don't understand, Amity. The only way to get to an airbender temple is on a flying bison, and I doubt the Fire Nation has any flying bison!" (Caresses Appa's head.) "Right, Appa?" Luz asked
Appa grunts. The camera moves back to show that Appa flies past to begin a last ascent up the side of a mountain.
"Yip yip!" Luz said to Appa
An overview shot follows Appa's flight up the mountain and through the clouds. Appa turns out of sight behind the flank of a mountain. The camera view shifts and Appa is seen emerging from behind that flank and turns further upward. Close-up of his passengers. Luz holds onto the reins tightly as Appa rapidly ascends while Amity, whose eyes are closed, and Willow and Gus hold on tight to Appa's fur and saddle respectively. Luz looks back for a moment to her passengers. The camera switches to a further off view of Appa as she flies over the rocks and into the sky again. He flies over a last ridge that is covered with trees. The camera pans up to reveal a large temple as Appa floats toward it.
(Voice-over.) "There it is. The Southern Air Temple." Luz said seeing it
"Luz, it's amazing!" Gus said still hanging onto the saddle
Luz is visibly excited as a close-up shows how her eyes widen upon the sight of the temple.
(To Appa.) "We're home, buddy! We're home." (Her eyes squint a bit in happiness.) Luz said
The scene switches back to the Earth Kingdom docks, where several Fire Navy ships are lined up. Something that looks like a railroad stretches out along the shipyard. The camera moves to the right to reveal a number of tents lined up in front of the ships. One of the bigger tents is being guarded by two Fire Nation soldiers. Switch to a shot of Bhao inside the tent, standing in front of a large map of the Avatar World that is hung up on the wall. He holds his hands behind his back. The camera slowly starts to move back.
"... And by the year's end, the Earth Kingdom capital will be under our rule." (Shift to a bird view of the tent, revealing Lilith, sitting at a table, and Kaldo, standing in the corner, looking at some weapons that are placed against the wall. Bhao turns around.) "The Fire Emperor will finally claim victory in this war." Bhao said
(Close-up. Angrily.) "If the Emperor thinks the rest of the world will follow him willingly, then he is a fool!" Lilith yelled
(Pulls up alongside Lilith and smirks.) "Two years at sea have done little to temper your tongue. So, how is your search for the Avatar going?" Bhao asked
Kaldo knocks over a weapon display behind them. The weapons come crashing down with a lot of noise. The lieutenant cowers at the noise and the damage he wrecked. Bhao turns around looking annoyed.
"Eh.. My fault, entirely." Kaldo apologized nervously
Kaldo places his hands in his sleeves and walks away backward out of the screen with a faint smile on his face.
(Aggressively.) "We haven't found her yet." Lilith clenching her fists
"Did you really expect to? The Avatar died a hundred years ago." (Close-up of Lilith, as she slants her eyes.) "Along with the rest of the airbenders." (Close-up of Bhao, whose face contorts in an evil expression.) "Unless you have found some evidence that the Avatar is alive?" Bhao asked
(Faces Bhao and responds very clearly.) "No." (Stares back in front of him.) "Nothing." Lilith said
(With an expression of disbelief on his face, as he rises from his chair.) "Commander Lilith, the Avatar is the only one who can stop the Fire Nation from winning this war." (Leans in and faces Lilith.) "If you have an ounce of loyalty left, you'll tell me what you found." Bhao said
"I haven't found…" (Looks up at Zhao and her tone becomes slightly more aggressive.) "anything." (Close-up, as she continues on a softer tone, slightly mockingly.) "It's like you said. The Avatar probably died a long time ago." (Gets up.) "Come on, Kaldo, we're going." Lilith said turning to Kaldo
As Lilith approaches the door, the guards stop her from leaving by crossing their spears while a third soldier enters the room. The camera switches to Bhao's point of view. Lilith and the two soldiers
blocking her path can be seen in the background. The camera pans to the right to reveal the soldier that entered walking up to Bhao.
"Commander Bhao, we interrogated the crew as you instructed. They confirmed commander Lilith had the Avatar in custody", (Close-up of Lilith's head from behind.) "but let her escape." the soldier said to Bhao
(Smiling evilly.) "Now remind me," (Close-up of Lilith's face, as Bhao walks up to her and leans over to talk into Lilith's ear. Lilith slants her eyes.) "how, exactly, was your ship damaged?" Bhao asked
The scene fades to a shot of the Southern Air Temple, as the camera slowly moves closer toward it. Cut to Appa, who has landed at the base of snow covered stairs. The camera quickly pans up to reveal four small figures making their way up the mountain trail. The lead figure is running. Close-up of Luz as she runs at the front, excitedly looking back at the three friends. As the three emerge from behind a corner, Luz runs off the screen.
"So where do I get something to eat?" Willow asked
Closer shot of the three friends. Willow clutches her stomach with both hands. The bags under her eyes are darkened and she has a very annoyed look on her face.
(Irritated.) "You're lucky enough to be one of the first outsiders to ever visit an airbender temple, and all you can think about is food?" Gus asked
The camera switches to a broader view as the three friends draw level with Luz, who is waiting for them at the next corner.
"I'm just a simple girl, with simple needs." Willow said
Switch to a front view of Luz, who points at something in front of her as Amity, Gus and Willow approach.
(Excited.) "So that's where my friends and I would play airball," (The camera shifts to a shot of a stadium consisting of many tall poles.) "and over there" (The camera pans to the right to reveal the four again.) "is where the bison would sleep, and …" (Aang sighs.)
Switch to a front view of Luz, with Amity, Gus and Willow in the background. Luz looks sad at the deserted remains of her home.
"What's wrong?" Amity asked
(A bit saddened.) "This place used to be full of monks and lemurs and bison. Now there's just a bunch of weeds." (Her eyes squint with sadness. The shot changes to a back view of Luz as she stands on the ledge, her clothes fluttering in the wind, a dead tree at each side of her. In a sad tone.) "I can't believe how much things have changed." Luz said
The camera moves back to show that Amity, Gus and Willow give each other a look of sympathy. They quickly approach Luz. The camera switches back to a front view of Luz, who still looks sad as Amity, Gus and Willow pull up beside her.
(Cheerfully trying to distract Luz from her sadness.) "So uh, this airball game. How do you play?" Willow asked
Amity and Gus smiled at their friend and Luz's face cleared up. She smiles too, as she looks at Willow from the corners of her eyes. Cut to a shot of Willow, looking concentrated while standing on a pole and guarding the goal of the airball court. The camera quickly moves back to the other side of the court, where Luz also stands on one of the tall poles, suspending a hollow ball in the air with airbending. She lets the ball roll over her shoulders, tosses it from side to side and lazily tosses it up in the air. She looks and smiles innocently at Willow with her hands behind her back. Switch to Willow, who looks surprised at the upward movement of the ball before cutting back to Luz who opens one eye as the ball comes down again. The airbender jumps up and kicks the ball away with a powerful air swipe. It rapidly shoots across the poles, changing direction as it crashes into several poles, but steadily moving closer toward Willow's goal. Switch to Willow's point of view as the ball races quickly toward her. Change to a side-view of Willow, who opens her mouth in shock. She grunts as the ball hits her right in the stomach. The force of impact sends Willow and the ball flying backward, right through the rotating door of the goal behind her. The camera moves further back to reveal Willow crashing into the snow behind the goal. Luz laughs as she jumps up in joy. Close-up of Luz as she holds a hand above her eyes to make out where Willow landed.
(Smiling broadly, she stretches out her arms above her head.) "Luz, seven!" (She forms a Zero with her hands and makes a circular movement with her whole body.) "Willow, zero!" Luz said cheerfully
Cut to a shot of Willow lying in the dirt. A twig is lying on her head while she looks a bit miserable. Amity and Gus stand in the background looking at their friend.
(Painfully.) "Making her feel better is putting me in a world of hurt." (She erects herself, but before she gets up completely, her eyes widen when she sees something in front of her and she crawls to the front. The camera shifts to reveal an old Fire Nation helmet lying in the snow. It has been battered by the elements, and shows signs of cracks and burns. She looks up at her friends.) "Amity, Gus, check this out." Willow called them over
"Fire Nation." Amity said with fear
"We should tell her." Willow said
(Yelling.) "Luz! There's something you need to see." Gus yelled getting Luz's attention
(Luz runs to them from the airball court, still playing with the hollow ball. Cheerfully.) "Okay!" Luz said
Close-up of Amity, as her determined look to tell Aang the truth shifts to one of insecurity. She glances at the helmet and back at the approaching Luz. Suddenly she shoots a small fire ball at
Gus's feet, scaring him. With one swift movement he swung his arms back, manipulating the overhanging snow to fall down in fright, obscuring the helmet and Willow from sight.
(Happily runs up.) "What is it?" Luz asked
Willow brushes the snow off her head in the background and looks at Gus making him nervous.
(Innocently holding her hands behind her back.) "Uh ... Just a new waterbending move Gus learned." Amity said innocently as Willow got Gus in a headlock giving him a noogie
"Nice one! But enough practice," (Excited as she turns around and starts walking away.) "We have a whole temple to see!" Luz said with excitement
(Tries getting out of Willow's arm from the noogie.) "You know, you can't protect her forever." Gus said as Willow let him go
"Gus is right, she has to know about what happened here somehow" Willow said
Amity sadly slants her eyes and walks after Luz. The scene switches to a full view of one of the temple's many towers and quickly pans down to reveal that the four friends have made it to a courtyard with a fountain in the middle. The water is frozen. Amity, Gus and Willow are standing at the entrance of the courtyard, while Luz runs up ahead excitedly.
(Arms crossed, stern.) "Amity, firebenders were here. You can't pretend they weren't." Willow said
Amity walks past her two friends. Camera view switches to a side-view. Gus and Willow pull up beside Amity as she is talking.
"I can for Luz's sake. If she finds out that the Fire Nation invaded her home, she'll be devastated."
(Happily.) "Hey guys!" (The three look up and see Luz standing in front of a statue of a monk, turning around and pointing toward it.) "I want you to meet somebody!" Luz said
Point of view switches to a shot from over the shoulder of the statue.
"Who's that?" Gus asked
(Facing the statue again.) "Monk Klatso! The greatest airbender in the world." (Scene switches to a frontal view of the statue as Luz turns around again toward her friends while gesturing at the statue.) "He taught me everything I know. Even with my mom's help to tell me what some of the stuff he said means"
Luz bows to the statue of an elderly man with a mustache and a distinct round necklace sitting in lotus with his fists bumped to each other in front of her, while the camera zooms in on it. When the shot has zoomed in to a close-up of the statue's face, the scene changes to a flashback of Luz's
past, the statue's face is replaced by the face of the real Klatso. The scenery also becomes much brighter as it is a flashback of a sunny day at the Southern Air Temple.
"But the true secret is in the gooey center." Klasto said
The camera moves back a bit to reveal that Monk Klatso is standing in front of an oven. With the use of a long wooden paddle, he retracts an orange, fruit pie out of the oven. With the use of his airbending, he creates a miniature tornado to spin out the fruity center of the pie.
The camera moves back to reveal Luz sitting on the ledge of the balcony, resting her left hand on her
knee while staring into nothing with her pinching the bridge of her nose. A bison is grazing in the
trees on the background.
"You mean the gooey filling in the center of them?" Luz's mom asked
(Distant.) "Hmm …" Luz pondered
Klatso walks over to the ledge as well and places his newly baked cake next to three others that were already standing there.
(With a calm, soothing and understanding voice.) "My ancient cake-making technique isn't the only thing on your daughter's mind, Camila, is it, Luz?" Klatso asked as Camila turned to Luz
(Downcast.) "This whole Avatar thing, m-maybe the monks made a mistake." Luz said
"The only mistake they made was telling you before you turned fourteen, but we can't concern ourselves with what was. We must act on what is." Klatso said
"He means the monks told you too early" Camila explained
Klatso extends his arm and while he does so, the camera moves back to reveal the beauty of the Southern Air Temple. The sky is filled with several sky bison with their calves who are feasting from the nearby trees. Sun beams bathe the scene in bright light.
(Voice-over.) "But Klatso? How do I know if I'm ready for this?" Luz asked
(Cut back to a close shot of Klatso and Camila with Luz sitting on the ledge in the background.) "Your questions will be answered when you're old enough to enter the air temple sanctuary. Inside, you will meet someone who will guide you on your journey." Klatso said
"He means you'll know once your old enough to enter the temple sanctuary to get help from someone to be the avatar" Camila said
The camera moves slowly toward Luz whose face clears up. She uses her airbending to shift positions on the ledge, now facing her guardian and teacher.
(Excited and curious.) "Who is it?" Luz asked
(Cut back to the close shot of Klatso with Luz and Camila in the background.) "When you are ready, he will reveal himself to you." (In the background, Luz, annoyed by this vague answer, grunts softly and looks up to the sky before cupping her face in his hands again with Camila placing a hand on her shoulder. Monk Klatso continues in a bright, happy tone.) "Now, are you going to help me with these cakes," (Close-up of Luz as she smiles lovingly at Gyatso.) "or not?" Klatso asked as Camila facepalmed herself
(Happily standing up.) "All right." Luz said happily as Camila tried to stop her
"Oh dear" Camila said with worry
The scene cuts to a close-up of a purple fruit pie with Luz and Klatso in the background. They take on an airbending stance, bringing their hands back.
"One. (The camera switches to a side-view as the duo conjures a small air ball with Camila covering her eyes.) "Two. Three!" Klatso yelled
They shift their weight to the front, launching their air balls. The balls send the four fruit pies flying high in the air, disappearing in the clouds. The scene of the flying cakes switches to a shot of four monks in lotus, meditating quietly between some trees. Suddenly, the cakes drop out of the sky and each of the monks is hit on the head by one of the colorful desserts. The monk at the far left of the line topples over upon impact. The moment the pies hit their heads, several flying lemurs appear and start to stuff their faces. One of the lemurs jumps up and down on the stomach of the toppled-over monk, while another grabs some cake right off the head of the monk on the far right. One of the lemurs jumps on the head of one of the monks. Cut back to Luz and Klatso, who are laughing loudly at the scene while Camila chuckled a bit. Luz is clutching her stomach, while Monk Klatso is leaning on the railing of the balcony. They both move back from the railing when they are done laughing. The two monks bow at each other
(Full admiration and love.) "Your aim has improved greatly," (Caressing Luz's head.) "my young pupil."
The flashback fades back to reveal Luz in the present, bowing the same way before the statue as she had done for the real Klatso. The camera switches to a frontal view of Luz as she erects herself with a sad look upon her face.
(Understandingly places a hand on her shoulder.) "You must miss him." Amity asked
(Downcast.) "Yeah." (She walks away.)
(Curious.) "Where are you going?" Amity asked
(Switch to a shot from Amity's point of view. Luz is walking up some stairs that lead to a corridor behind the statue. She looks back while answering.) "The air temple sanctuary. There's someone I'm ready to meet."
Luz enters the hallway. Cut back to Amity, she looks questioningly at Willow and Gus, who just shrugs. The three start walking after Luz. Switch to an overview shot of inside the corridor. The round symbol of intertwined air currents, the national symbol of the Air Nomads, is largely embedded in the floor, surrounded by two square shapes that form some sort of sun together. The camera pans up to reveal that the four friends have reached the entrance of the air temple sanctuary. The door supports a combination of metal colored pipes and three, blue, rolled up, pipes that are similar looking and arranged like the symbol for airbending. The large wooden door is framed by the branches of an old tree standing on the left of it and the hallway is illuminated by sunlight that falls through little, round windows.
"But Luz, no one could have survived there for a hundred years." Gus said
(Camera changes to show the four friends looking up at the door. Hopeful.) "It's not impossible." (Opening his arms.) "I survived in the iceberg for that long." Luz said
(Touching his chin with a finger.) "Good point." Gus said
(Close shot of Luz with Amity visible over her shoulder. She glances hopeful at her over her shoulder. Excited.) "Amity, whoever's in there might help figure out this Avatar thing!"
(Appears on screen from behind Luz's back. Luz, Amity and Gus look surprised at her. Eagerly.) "And whoever's in there might have" (Amity and Gus' looks changes to one of annoyance. Close-up of Willow's determined, anticipating face.) "a medley of delicious" (She rubs her hands together and practically starts to drool over the thought.) "cured meats!" Willow exclaimed
Full of anticipation and longing, Willow charges at the door, but it will not budge and she simply smacks into it, head first. She quickly turns around and puts her back to it, trying to push the giant door open. When the door does not move, she sighs, slides down to the floor, disappointed, and rests against the door.
"I don't suppose you have a key?" Willow asked
(Shot from over Willow's shoulder.) "The key, Willow, is airbending." Luz answered
Close-up of Luz, as she takes a deep breath. She spreads her arms and thrusts them forward, sending an air current into both of the tubes on the door. The camera follows the path of the right air current as it travels through the pipe. The wind makes one of the blue curled tubes turn around. When it does, the tube changes colors to purple and the wind blows out like a horn. The process is repeated for the other two blue tubes as well. When the three blue tubes have turned and become purple, the camera moves back to show that Luz has unlocked the door and it slowly starts to open. Switch to a shot from inside the sanctuary, as the door cracks open and light penetrates the dark
room. The doors sway open and Luz is seen standing there with Amity, Gus and Willow in the background. The scene switches to a shot from behind Amity, Gus and Willow, as the door cracks open entirely.
(Cut to a front view of Luz, as she brings her hand besides her mouth.) "Hello?" (Switch back to a shot from behind Amity, Gus and Willow as Luz enters the sanctuary.) "Anyone home?" Luz asked
Overview shot as Amity, Gus and Willow walk behind Luz. Cut to a shot from close to the ground, as they enter further into the sanctuary and disappear in the darkness.
The scene fades to Lilith, who is sitting in a chair in Bhao's tent, flanked by two Fire Nation soldiers
while Bhao is pacing back and forth.
"So a fourteen-year-old girl bested you and your firebenders." (Wider shot of the tent as Bhao stops pacing. Kaldo can be seen sitting in a corner.) "You're more pathetic than I thought." Bhao said
(Angrily.) "I underestimated her once, but it will not happen again!" Lilith angrily said
(Frontal view with Lilith in the background. Aggressively.) "No, it will not. Because you won't have a second chance." Bhao said
(Alarmed.) Commander Bhao, (Closer shot of Lilith.) "I've been hunting the Avatar for two years and I -" Lilith said
(Cut to a shot from over Lilith's shoulder as Bhao angrily turns around, spreading flames in an arc.) "And you failed!" (She walks intimidatingly up to Lilith.) "Capturing the Avatar is too important to leave in a woman's hands. She's mine now." Bhao said
Close-up of Lilith's face, as it contorts with anger and she jumps at Bhao. Cut to a side-view. Before Lilith can reach the commander, however, she is held back by the two guards.
"Keep them here." Bhao said
Bhao walks away, leaving an angrily panting Lilith. Enraged, she kicks the table in front of Kaldo, breaking it clean in two, sending the objects that were on it flying through the room.
(Calmly with a hint of amusement in his voice.) "More tea, please." Kaldo asked politely
Cut back to the sanctuary. The camera pans to the right to show a frontal view of Luz, Amity, Gus and Willow who are venturing further down into the sanctuary. The only light comes from the open door behind them and illuminates the scene with bluish light. They stop, and Willow holds a hand to her brow to look up ahead. Switch to an overview shot of the four friends as they stand in the light that comes in through the door. Their shadows are cast over the floor. The camera moves back and pans more to the right to reveal a large number of statues of people, lined up in a circular pattern.
Switch to a side-view from among the statues as the four friends walk through them, curiously looking around. Willow halts before one of them.
(Disappointed.) "Statues? That's it? Where's the meat?" Willow asked as her stomach growled
Cut to a side-view of Luz, Amity and Gus, who also have stopped and are looking up at a statue.
"Who are all these people?" Amity asked
(Pensive.) "I'm not sure." (Frontal view of Aang.) "But it feels like I know them somehow. Look!" (Camera shifts to a point behind Luz and Amity. Luz points at the statue of a man with airbending master tattoos in front of him.) "That one's an airbender."
"That so?" (the four friends turned to their left to see a woman with gray hair in a parka and a backpack of tools) "sorry for surprising you kids back there, the names Eda, I've been observing these statues for a while"
(Camera pans to the right. Gus points at the statue of a male dressed in Water Tribe clothes next to the airbender.) "And this one's a waterbender." (Looks to the right and back to the left.) "They're lined up in a pattern," (Points at the respective statues.) "air, water, earth and fire." Gus said
"That's the Avatar Cycle." Luz said
"Avatar Cycle? Interesting" Eda said as she wrote it down
(Understanding.) "Of course. They're Avatars. All these people are your past lives, Luz." Amity said
"Wow! There are so many!" Luz said excitedly
"There must've been dozens of them" Eda said as she wrote more down
Luz starts to walk down the circular pattern. Switch to Amity, who is now standing next to Willow who has her arms crossed.
(Skeptically.) "Past lives?" (Luz stops before a statue while Amity, Gus and Willow are still visible in the background.) "Amity, Gus, you two really believe in that stuff?" Willow asked
"It's true." (The picture pans up to reveal Luz staring at the statue of an elderly man with a beard. In the background hundreds of statues can be seen spiraling up.) "When the Avatar dies, they're reincarnated into the next nation in the cycle." Gus said
Cut to a back view of Luz, who is looking at the elderly man while the camera moves in closer. Quick change to a frontal view of Luz, who stares with wide open eyes at the statue. The camera moves in closer to her face. Switch to the face of the statue. Its eyes gleam for a second. Cut back to a close-up of Luz, who is still mesmerized by the statue. Amity appears behind her, grabs her shoulders and shakes her a bit.
"Aang! Snap out of it!" Amity said snapping Luz out of it
Cut to a wider view from over the shoulder of the statue. Luz is smiling at it while Amity looks worried at Luz.
(Dazed.) "Huh?" Luz said
(She curiously follows her gaze and looks at the statue as well.) "Who is that?" Amity asked
"That's Avatar Moku, the Avatar before me." Luz said
Cut to a back view of the duo, as Gus, Willow and Eda walk up.
"You were a firebender? No wonder I didn't trust you when we first met." Willow said as Gus elbowed her in the stomach
"I never knew the fire nation were good before 100 years ago" Eda said while writing it down
"How many notes do you even have?" Gus asked trying to look at Eda's notes
(Look at the base of the statue.) "There's no writing. How do you know his name?" Amity asked
"I'm not sure. I just know it somehow." Luz said
(Growls irritably while crossing her arms.) "You just couldn't get any weirder." Willow said
The group startles and stares with big eyes in front of them when they hear something. They turn around. Switch to a scene of the blue light on the floor that comes in through the door. A long-horned shadow of another being that is approaching moves over it. The camera pans to the right toward the statues, but the group cannot be seen. Overview shot from among the statues where Luz and Amity are hiding behind a statue on the left and Willow, who is holding her club ready, along with Gus and Eda hides behind a statue to the right. The shadow is creeping closer. Cut to a closer shot of the group. Gus has his teeth clenched in fright, while Luz looks in front of her. Willow holds her hand to her mouth as she addresses them.
(Whispering.) "Firebender. No one make a sound." Willow whispered
(Irritated.) "You're making a sound!" Eda whispered
(Putting their finger before their mouths.) "Shhhh!" Gus and Willow whispered
Gus looks scared in front of him again. Overview shot of the huddled group as the shadow creeps closer. Close-up of Willow, who raises her club.
(Whispering.) "That firebender won't know what hit him." Willow whispered
Cut to a broader view as Willow stands up. The shadow has reached the bases of the statues and the camera pans up to reveal a small figure standing in the doorway; it chitters. The camera changes to a view from behind the figure. Willow appears from behind the statue, her club to the ready, but lowers it as soon as she sees the animal. Luz, Amity, Gus and Eda peek from behind their statues as well. Frontal view of the erect flying black dog, as it sits down and tilts his head, blinking at the appeared fivesome. Close-up of Luz.
(Excitedly.) "Demon dog!"
(Quickly pans to a drooling Willow.) "Dinner!"
Cut to a close-up of the demon dog, as the animal pricks his tail and slightly tilts his head more. Cut back to a close-up of a friendly-looking Luz.
(Reassuring.) "Don't listen to her. You're going to be my new pet." Luz said
(Luz glares angrily at Willow, before the scene switches to a close-up of her drooling face. Challenging.) "Not if I get him first!" Willow said
Willow stretches her hand while she excitedly lunges herself at the animal from behind the statue. Luz runs up at the demon dog as well. Point of view switches to that of the two girls. The demon dog arches his back in fright, his arms, hair and tail standing upright as the snatching hands of the two girls draw closer. Switch to a back view of the demon dog. It startles, quickly turns around and makes a break for it. Willow barely misses the animal and falls down. Luz nimbly avoids tripping as well by using Willow's head as a stepping stone. Switch to an overview shot as Willow quickly gets up and runs behind Luz and the demon dog as they exit the sanctuary.
"Wait! Come back!" Luz said trying to call it back
"Be careful with the demon dog, I want to study it!" Eda said waving her notebook around
Cut to a shot from low in the hallway. The demon dog bounces off the wall and chases out of the screen.
"I want to eat you!" Willow said trying to catch the demon dog
Luz and Willow come sliding around the corner and give chase. Willow passes Luz and shoves her back. Cut to a side-view of Willow running in the lead. Luz pulls up next to her again, so Willow takes out her club and takes a swing at Luz's legs. Luz nimbly avoids the club and uses her airbending to run on the side of the wall, laughing loudly with amusement. Cut to a shot from Willow's point of view as Luz runs up ahead. The airbender runs on the floor again. She quickly turns around and directs on airball at Willow, which knocks her legs from underneath her. Willow flips in the air before smacking face first on the ground, her hood falling over her head while she lands. Switch to a frontal view from a balcony as the demon dog exits the corridor and sits on the ledge of the balcony, looking back at the approaching Luz. He pricks his tail again and takes flight with a scared look on his face.
Cut to a shot from over Luz's shoulder as she is running down the hall. She briefly glances over to see if Willow is still following. She too exits the hallway and without slowing down, she jumps over the ledge of the balcony, behind the demon dog. Cut to a shot from underneath Luz. The airbender turns in the air and uses some of the rocks to break her freefall, jumping from one rock to the other. Cut back to Willow, who too has reached the balcony, but stops there while looking over the rim.
"Hey! No fair!" Willow said waving her fist at Luz
Cut back to a close-up of Luz, who's freefalling again. Her mouth is wide open in a smile and her eyes are slightly squinted and watering, owing to the speed of her fall.
Cut to the Fire Nation tent at the occupied Earth Kingdom harbor. Bhao is walking toward it. The scene changes from inside the tent, where two guards hold their spears in front of the exit. Bhao pushes the cloths aside that serve as tent doors and enters.
"My search party is ready. Once I'm out to sea," (Cut to a shot from over Bhao's head to reveal Kaldo and Lilith sitting in two chairs in front of him in the middle of the tent.) "My guards will escort you back to your ship and" (Close-up of Lilith, who angrily looks down.) "you'll be free to go."
(Angrily.) "Why? Are you worried I'm going to try and stop you?" Lilith asked
Cut to Bhao, who starts to laugh out loud.
(Amused.) "You? Stop me? Impossible." Bhao said
(Angrily gets up. Enraged.) "Don't underestimate me, Bhao! I will capture the Avatar before you!"
(Gets up as well, sternly.) "Commander Lilith, that's enough." Kaldo said
(Confidently.) "You can't compete with me. I have hundreds of war ships under my command and you? You're just a banished commander. No home, no allies. The Fire Emperor doesn't even want you." Bhao said
(Angrily.) "You're wrong! Once I deliver the Avatar to the Emperor, he will welcome me home with honor, and restore my rightful place in the nation!" Lilith yelled
(Close-up of Bhao, as the camera pans to the right to slowly reveal his whole face.) "If the Emperor really wanted you home, he would have let you return by now, Avatar or no Avatar. But in his eyes you are a failure and a disgrace to the Fire Nation." Bhao said
(Cut to Lilith.) "That's not true."
"You have the scar to prove it." Bhao said
With a cry of frustration, Lilith jolts up out of her chair and into Bhao's face. Side-view as the two stare at each other in anger.
(Furiously.) "Maybe you'd like one to match!" Lilith said
(Slightly mockingly.) "Is that a challenge?" Bhao asked
"An Agni Kai. At sunset." Lilith said challenging Bhao
"Very well." (Bhao erects himself.) "It's a shame the Emperor won't be here to watch me humiliate you." (Turns around.) "I guess your Lieutenant will be enough." Bhao said
Bhao walks away. Front view of Lilith, with Kaldo in the background.
(Camera pans slowly to the right to a full close-up of Lilith. Worried.) "Commander Lilith, have you forgotten what happened last time you dueled a master?" Kaldo asked
(Darkly.) "I will never forget." Lilith said
Cut to a scenery shot of the Southern Air Temple. Switch to somewhere inside the temple where the demon dog lands on the ground. The animal erects his tail as Luz touches down on the ground behind her as well and launches forward. The demon dog jumps out of the way. The camera pans to the left to follow the animal's escape as he runs through some ripped drapes, which once formed a tent.
(Follows the demon dog.) "Hey! Come back!" (Cut to a shot from inside the tent, as Luz pushes the decaying curtain of drapes out of the way. Happily looking around.) "Come on out, little demon dog! That hungry guy won't bother you anymore." Luz said
Luz walks up to another curtain of drapes. Cut to a frontal view from the other side of the curtain as Luz parts them. She looks in the room, but suddenly takes a sharp breath in shock. Switch to several skeletons dressed in Fire Nation uniforms lying scattered over the floor. The camera slowly pans up to a skeleton lying in the snow, surrounded by many more skeletons of Fire Nation soldiers.
(Shocked.) "Firebenders? They were here?" Luz wondered
Luz enters the room and looks around with a sad expression on her face. The scene switches to a closer shot of the skeleton in the snow and slowly zooms in on it. The skeleton is adorned with a round necklace that supports the symbol of airbending. Close-up of Luz, as she stares at the skeletons. Cut back to a close-up of the skeleton dressed in yellow monk robes. The camera focuses on the round, wooden necklace. Cut back to Luz, whose eyes are trembling with sadness and hold back tears.
(Devastated.) "Klatso." Luz said
The view changes to one from beside the skeleton; its fingers are clearly visible in the front as Luz drops to her knees in the background and lets out a mournful sigh. Cut to Willow, who pulls the drapes aside and looks around.
(Happily.) "Hey, Luz! Have you found my dinner yet?" (Cut to a side-view of Luz sitting on her knees, her head cupped in her hands. Willow walks toward her. Reassuring.) "Luz, I wasn't really going to eat the demon dog, okay? I just…" (She approaches Luz with a smile on her face, but shakes her head and does a double take.) "Oh, man." (Switch to a shot of the skeleton of the monk, which slowly moves back to reveal that Willow places a hand on Luz's shoulder.) Come on, Luz. Everything will be alright. Let's get out of here."
Suddenly, Luz's arrow tattoos begin to glow a bluish white. Cut to a frontal view of Luz, as she lifts her head, her eyes glowing in the same color. The camera pans up; Willow retracts her hands and gasps for air in fright. Switch to an overview shot of inside the sanctuary where Amity, Gus and Eda are walking down the circular pattern of statues. They stop before and look at the statue of Avatar Roku. Cut to a close-up of the statue's face. The camera's point of view switches to behind Roku's shoulder. The trio suddenly looks surprised as a bluish, white light illuminates their faces, it seems to come from the statue. Cut back to a close-up of the statue. Its eyes are gleaming bright. The bright light spreads to the other statues and one by one, their eyes start to gleam. The camera pans up to reveal how the light travels from statue to statue and makes its way up to the top of the sanctuary. The camera's point of view switches again to behind Roku's shoulder to show Amity, Gus and Eda, who are still staring at Roku in shock.
(Worried.) "Luz!" Amity said
"The whole place began to glow because of that kid?" Eda asked
The trio turns around and sprints away.
Switch to another temple hidden somewhere in the mountains. Inside the temple is a man, dressed in the typical green of the Earth Kingdom, sitting in front of a painting of past earth Avatars. Their eyes also begin to gleam brightly. Cut to a frontal view of the man's frightened expression. The light is so strong that it casts long shadows on his face. Switch to somewhere on one of the poles, where two Water Tribe civilians are looking at the water temple's roof that glows bright with bluish, white light. Cut to a far-off view of the Fire Temple; its roof glows with a reddish light. Cut to a view from inside the temple, where a Fire Sage is leaning out of the room from which the light emanates.
"Send word to the Fire Emperor immediately! The Avatar has returned!" The Fire Sage yelled
The expression on the recipient Fire Sage's face turns to fright. Cut back to the decaying building Aang is in at the Southern Air Temple. Switch to a close shot of Luz's feet, where a whirlwind begins to form. The wind kicks away a bone. The camera slowly pans up. The wind kicks up and forms a sphere around Luz, her eyes and tattoos still glowing brightly. Luz's clothes flutter heavily in the wind.
(Alarmed.) "Luz! Come on! Snap out of it!" Willow yelled trying to call to Luz
Willow holds up her arm to protect herself against the raging winds. Suddenly, the air sphere around Luz expands and sends Willow flying backward.
"Aaaaahh!" Willow yelled getting sent backwards
Cut to an overview of the dilapidated building. The roof explodes by the force of the hurricane and debris is catapulted high into the air. Switch back to inside the rubble of the building where Willow spins through the air and smacks against the wall. The air sphere has expanded to a raging tornado with Luz in its center. Willow peeks at Luz from behind a rock. Switch to an overview shot as Amity, Gus and Eda walk up to Willow, holding their arms protectively before their faces.
(Shouting above the raging winds. Close-up of the four. Amity looks worried at her friend.) "What happened?" Amity asked
(Shouting.) "She found out firebenders killed Klatso!" Willow yelled
"Oh no! It's her Avatar Spirit!" (Raises her hand to protect herself against the winds and the flying debris.) "She must have triggered it! I'm going to try and calm her down!" (Closes an eye against the wind and starts to make her way toward Luz.) Amity said starting to head for Luz
(Holds on to the rock in an attempt to keep from being blown away with Gus and Willow under her arms. Alarmed.) "Well, do it! Before she blows us off the mountain!" Eda yelled
Cut to a side-view as Amity fights the storm to get to Luz. Cut to a shot from over her shoulder. The sphere of wind that engulfs slowly starts to rise in the air. Amity is pushed back by the strong wind currents that fill the remains of the building as the sphere ascends higher and higher.
Cut to an overview shot of a Fire Nation arena at the occupied Earth Kingdom harbor at sunset. Switch to a view of the inside. The camera pans to the left to reveal some two figures standing at the right and 5 figures standing at the left of the arena. Close-up of Bhao, as he is squatting down, he is bare-chested and barefoot and wears a cape over his shoulders. Lilith and Kaldo can be seen in the background. Switch to a close-up of Lilith, squatting the same way and dressed in the same attire with a shirt.
"Remember your firebending basics," (Close-up of Kaldo's upper body.) "Commander Lilith. They are your greatest weapons." Kaldo said
(Close-up of Lilith's determined face.) "I refuse to let him win."
Lilith stands up and turns around. The cape drops from her shoulder. Switch to Bhao on the other side of the arena who also rises and turns around; his garment swivels down as well.
(Confident whisper.) "This will be over quickly." Bhao said to himself
Cut to a Fire Nation soldier standing on higher grounds. He sees that the duo has readied themselves for battle, so he rings a large gong. Cut back to a side-view of Lilith and Bhao standing in the middle of the arena, both taking on a firebending stance. Close-up of Lilith, who has her hands stretched out in front of her, glaring at Bhao. Switch to Bhao, who stands the same as Lilith. The
screen splits; the upper pane is a close-up of Bhao's eyes and slowly slides to the left, the lower is a close-up of Lilith's eyes and slowly slides to the right.
Cut to a view from behind Lilith, as she starts to lower her arms, leaving a trail of fire behind. Camera moves to a frontal view of Lilith, as she directs a strong fire blast at Bhao. Bhao moves to the left, out of the way of the blast before moving back to the right to avoid another blast. Switch to a shot of Bhao's left foot with Lilith in the background; the camera pans to the right. The banished commander shoots two more strong blasts at Bhao. Frontal view of Bhao, as he crosses his arms in front of him and takes the blasts head on. He moves one arm up and the other down, dissipating the flames. He smirks at Lilith, who is seen panting heavily with her arm still stretched out from her last attack. She angrily grinds her teeth and performs a roundhouse kick, spraying flames toward the camera. The shot switches to a side-view of Bhao, who creates his own flames to push away Lilith's blazing attack. He performs his trick again. Close-up of Lilith, who squints her eyes and directs another powerful flame kick in Bhao's direction. Close-up of a smirking Bhao, who holds his own fire ready. He launches forward. Shot of his feet, showing his strong stance as he swings his arms over the ground, severing Lilith's next attack. The camera switches from Bhao, who seems unfazed by Lilith's attacks to Lilith, who is panting heavily with fatigue. Cut to Kaldo, who is holding his fist up while rooting for his commander.
"Basics, Lilith!" (Close-up of Lilith's determined face.) "Break his root!" Kaldo yelled
Side-view of Bhao, who ferociously attacks Lilith with a strong fire blast. Lilith is thrown back a bit by the force of the attack while she diverts the flames to both of her sides. Bhao takes a step forward. Closer shot as he directs another powerful blast at the banished commander, using both his arms this time. Lilith is thrown back again, but still diverts the fire away from him. Bhao takes another step forward and fires again with the same result on Lilith's side. Shot of Bhao, who firmly plants his foot down, cuts to a shot where he holds both his wrists together and fires another strong blast. Lilith is thrown back upon impact and slides back several meters over the ground. She lifts her head while grunting in pain. Her expression turns to one of shock as she looks up and sees that Bhao has jumped up and is soaring through the skies toward her. With a loud scream, he lands at Lilith's feet, erects himself and thrusts his fist forward to deliver the final blow.
Cut to Lilith's eyes, which open wide in fright as the fire reflects in them. At the last possible second, a frontal shot of Lilith shows her rolling out of the way and swirling her feet around. The view switches to a side-view of Lilith as she, while getting up in this swirl, swipes Bhao's legs from underneath him. This same move is shown two more times, from a closer side-view and from a close-up angled shot of Lilith's perspective, before cutting to a shot of Lilith's feet as she firmly plants them on the ground. Close-up as she smiles confidently. Switch to a shot from over the ground as Lilith steps forward, sliding fire at Bhao's feet, who steps back. Bhao is caught off balance and wobbles backward. Lilith keeps repeating her move, directing her attacks at Bhao's feet in an attempt to throw him off balance. Switch to Bhao, who falls back in distress and subsequently to Kaldo, who smiles approvingly. Cut to Lilith, who directs a powerful kick at her adversary. Bhao barely pushes it out of the way while staggering back ever further. Lilith kicks again and this time she succeeds in knocking the commander over. Bhao falls down and rolls over the ground, where he ends up on his back. Lilith runs up at him and threatens him with an outstretched arm, ready to
deliver the final blow. Bhao brings his head up and looks at Lilith. Close-up of Lilith's eyes and back to a shot of Bhao's face.
(Challenging.) "Do it!" Bhao yelled
Lilith grunts and thrusts her fist forward, emitting another fire blast. Smoke appears on screen and Lilith erects herself. Cut to a blackened spot on the ground, next to Bhao's face. The camera moves back to a broader view.
"That's it? Your father raised a coward." Bhao said
(Anger clearly audible in her voice.) "Next time you get in my way, I promise, I won't hold back." Lilith said
Lilith turns her back to Bhao and starts to walk away. Close-up of Lilith's face as she walks, Bhao can be seen erecting himself in the background, his back facing Lilith. He suddenly turns around and aims a powerful kick at Lilith, spreading his flames. Before Lilith notices anything, however, Kaldo intervenes and grabs Bhao's foot, dissipating the fire. Kaldo tosses Bhao back who slides away on his back. Lilith wants to charge Bhao in anger, but Kaldo stops her.
"No, Commander Lilith. Do not taint your victory." (Turns to face Bhao. Condescending.) "So this is how the great Commander Bhao acts in defeat?" (Close-up of Bhao lying on the floor.) "Disgraceful." (Cut back to a closer shot of Lilith and Kaldo.) "Even in exile, my commander is more honorable than you." (Lilith looks at Kaldo upon hearing those last words. Switch to a shot from over Bhao's shoulders.) "Thanks again for the tea. It was delicious." Kaldo said
Kaldo and Lilith turn and walk toward the gate of the arena. Bhao partially erects himself, with his left arm resting on his left knee, and grunts as he watches them go. Overview shot of Kaldo and Lilith exiting the arena and a close-up of the duo.
(Softly.) "Did you really mean that, Kaldo?" Lilith asked
(Smiling slyly, while glancing at his commander.) "Of course. I told you ginseng tea is my favorite." Kaldo said
Lilith slightly smiles, before the shot switches to an overview of Ketu Harbor as the duo walks toward their ship.
Cut to Luz, who is still suspended in the air in her sphere. Strong winds are rampaging through the rubble of the destroyed building. Amity, Gus, Willow and Eda are holding on for dear life on some stones, trying not to get blown away.
(In the background, Eda is hunched over her rock keeping Gus and Willow in place, clenching their teeth together. Amity shouts calmly with a sad expression on her face. The camera slowly moves in on her.) "Luz! I know you're upset and I know how hard it is to lose the people you love. Gus went through the same thing when he lost his mom." (Diverts her eyes. Shot switches to a frontal view of
Luz, her tattoos glowing and wind swirling around her, her clothes flutter in the storm. Willow got out of Eda's arm and runs over to her friend in the background.) "Monk Klatso and the other airbenders may be gone," (Close-up of her as she looks up at her.) "but you still have a family. Gus, Willow and I!" (Willow opens her eyes and glances at her friend.) "We're your family now!" Amity yelled
Close-up of Luz's emotionless face, as she begins to descend. The angle changes to a view from behind Amity and Willow as they watch her lower herself back to the ground, the winds start to die down and the air sphere that surrounded Luz disappears. Close-up of her feet, as she touches the ground. Frontal view of the young Avatar, her eyes and tattoos are still glowing bluish white. Amity and Willow pull up next to her, one on each side.
(Gently.) "Amity, Gus and I aren't going to let anything happen to you. Promise." Willow said
Close-up of Amity taking Luz's hand. The moment she does, the glowing fades away. Cut to a close-up of her face as her arrow and eyes also stop glowing. She slants her eyes with a saddened expression, before she collapses from exhaustion in Amity's arms.
(Sad and tired.) "I'm sorry." Luz said tiredly
"It's okay. It wasn't your fault." Amity said
(Sadly.) "But you were right. And if the firebenders found this temple, that means they found the other ones, too." (Close-up of her sad face, as she closes her eyes.) "I really am the last airbender." Luz said
Amity hugs Luz tightly. The camera moves back and Willow places a hand on Luz's shoulder. Switch to a shot of the statues inside the sanctuary. The camera pans down to reveal Luz standing in front of Roku's statue again. Shot from over Roku's shoulder as Amity, Gus and Eda pull up next to Luz.
"Everything's packed. Are you ready to go?" Gus asked
"Hope you don't mind the extra company" Eda said
(Closer shot of Luz and Amity's faces. Softly.) "How is Roku supposed to help me if I can't talk to him?" Luz asked
"Maybe you'll find a way." Amity said
They glance at each other when they hear something behind them. They turn around and see the flying demon dog standing on its back legs in the middle of the doorway. Cut to a back view of the animal as it jumps to the right, toward where Willow is standing. The animal reaches his feet and drops the load he was carrying, a variety of fruits. The demon dog quickly dashes away as Willow sits down and starts to stuff her face with the fruit, taking large bites of two different pieces of fruit. Cut to a shot of Luz, Amity, Gus and Eda, who smile at Willow.
"Looks like you made a new friend Willow!" Luz said
(Pushing the food in her mouth with her two hands. Looks up with an exhilarated look upon her face. With a full mouth.) "Can't talk! Must eat!" (Takes another big bite.)
The flying demon dog climbs onto Luz and hides behind her head, his tail curled around Luz's neck
(Looking at the demon dog from the corners of her eye.) "Hey, little guy!" Luz said
(writes about the demon dog in her notes.) "knows how to find fruit, got it" Eda said scribbling it down
Cut to a panoramic view of the Southern Air Temple from a distance. The camera pans down to reveal Luz standing next to Appa with the demon dog perched on her arm.
(To the winged-demon dog.) "You, me and Appa," (Frontal view as the camera closes in on them.) "we're all that's left of this place." (Looks at the demon dog.) "We have to stick together. Amity, Gus, Willow, Eda," (Switches to a shot of the group fiddling with their luggage. They turn back to look at Luz as she calls them. Willow is still eating a peach.) "say hello to the newest member of our family."
(Luz approaches the duo.) "What are you going to name him?" Eda asked
Willow is about to take another bite of the peach she is eating. Cut to a shot of Luz, who looks surprised when the demon dog suddenly leaps off her arm and returns, holding the peach. The animal starts to nibble from it.
"King" Luz answered
Cut to a wider shot. Willow still stands there, mouth open and hand in front of her mouth, ready to take a bite, however, she has no peach anymore. The others start to laugh upon seeing Willow's expression. Cut to a panoramic view of the Southern Air Temple at dusk; the camera slowly pans to the right. Cut to Luz, who is sadly staring back at it, leaning on the luggage that is tied at the back on Appa's saddle. King chitters quietly as they fly further away from the temple. Dark clouds slowly move in front of the temple, obscuring their view.
Fade to credits.
