*happens during Season 4, episode 8 after Betty loses to Amanda on the waterslide*
As Betty came out of the water, she was surprised to see Daniel standing in front of her holding a towel, with a smirk on his face.
"Betty?" he said with a chuckle, "what are you doing here? And racing Amanda down a waterslide?"
"Don't ask Daniel"
"Let's talk about it over some drinks," he says "I know you need one, and I could go for one too".
"Alright, let's!," she says excitedly.
When Wilhelmina said she needed Betty in the Bahamas, she originally thought she can also come here to try to win Matt back, but it seems like he wants to have fun with Amanda instead. She was happy she at least had her friend Daniel here to keep her company. Spending time with Daniel always cheered her up.
They found seats at the bar, and Daniel ordered two Margaritas for the both of them. As they sat down, Betty noticed Daniel make quick eye contact with an attractive blonde woman walking past the bar, and then suddenly look away.
"Wanna tell me what that was about?"
"Only if you tell me what that was about back there,"
Betty takes a deep sigh, "alright, I was sort of racing Amanda for Matt. Apparently they're here together."
"So you want him back?" Daniel asks incredulously.
"Yes, no, I don't know Daniel, I thought I did."
"You deserve so much better, Betty, believe me."
"Thanks Daniel, now it's your turn, spill!"
Daniel takes a long sip from his Marg as he takes a quick look around the bar before talking. He starts speaking low enough that only Betty can hear him.
"Well, I met that woman here earlier and we went back to her room, but I had some trouble rising to the occassion."
Betty gasps, but says in a whisper, "oh no Daniel, that must of been embarassing, I know how tough that can be for men, especially you."
Daniel scoffs, "What is that supposed to mean?"
"Well, you know the whole man whore thing"
He rolled his eyes, "Whatever. That's not me anymore. Maybe I'm still not ready after Molly."
"That's okay, Daniel, I know how much you loved her," Betty says, while touching his arm, trying to comfort him.
"I guess we really needed these drinks huh," Betty says with a laugh, as she finishes her first Marg.
"Yeah! Let's order some more!" Daniel says, as he motions for the bartender to come back over.
"Hey, can I get two more Margaritas and four shots of Tequila please?" he asks the bartender.
"Coming right up!" Sean the bartender says.
"Shots, Daniel?" Betty asks with a worried tone. "We still have to work tomorrow!"
"We'll be fine Betty, plus, when in the Bahamas, right?"
"Whatever, Daniel if you say so."
They continue to drink, laugh, and joke at the bar for about another hour. The sun starts to set and most of the people who were at the bar had left, new people started to come in. Daniel starts thinking about how much fun he always has with Betty. The energy between them has been feeling a bit different lately. More light and flirty. He realized they have been staring at each other for a little while. Betty has been looking so good these days, he thought.
"Wanna get out of here?" he asks.
"Sure, where we going?"
"I dunno, wherever the wind takes us," he chuckles.
She laughs. As Betty gets up from the bar, she tries to keep her balance, Daniel stands behind her and holds her by the waist to keep her steady. "You alright?" he asks in a very low and deep tone, while his hands are still around her waist.
"Mhmm," she says, noticing the effect this exchange just had on her.
"Alright, let's go," he says, clearing his throat, holding out his arm so she can lock hers in with his. They walk down the beach for a few minutes until they find a spot in the sand to sit.
"Wanna sit here?" he asks.
Betty takes the towel Daniel brought for her earlier and lays it out in the sand so they can sit. As they sit down, he notices her wrap her arms around herself to keep warm.
"Cold?"
"Kinda, yeah"
He takes off his button down shirt and puts it over her shoulders. Betty couldn't help but to look at him, now shirtless and looking good as ever in the moonlight. I wonder how good he would look on top of me, she thought. Damn those drinks were getting to her. Keep it together, Suarez. This is your best friend and he's still mourning, plus you originally came here for Matt.
"I love looking at the ocean at night."
"It's beautiful"
"So are you"
"Daniel, you don't have to —" he cuts her off.
"Don't have to what? Tell you the truth? I mean it Betty, I meant it then and I mean it now."
"Thank you Daniel," she says while staring in his eyes, remembering that moment Daniel first told her she was beautiful after that whole Jesse ordeal.
"You're welcome, and I also mean it when I say you deserve better, none of these guys deserve you Betty,"
"and you do?", she asks, clearly influenced by the liquor.
"Maybe," Daniel says, before leaning in for a kiss.
