The group was gathered round as Cid was about to tell the tale of Prince Lancex. But instead of Cid, Cor spoke first. "First off, you really should have more respect and reverence when you speak oh Lancex, for he is a prince" Cor revealed.
Optimus and Predaking were stunned, as they had no clue that their crush was a prince. "If I may so bold, May I ask how Lancex became a prince?" Optimus asked carefully. He didn't want to upset the group as he knew he was outnumbered and wouldn't win if he caused trouble.
Cid then made his way to the front yet again, moving Cor aside. Cid took out an extremely old photo of himself and some of his friends during Cid's younger days. It was sentimental so he always kept it close. "This picture is from 20 years ago, well, 20 years ago according to our universe. This is myself, King Regis, Cor, Gladiolus' father, and Nyx Ulric. We were out and about, heading to a new area that we had heard of but never visited. On our journey, we came across a village that had been nearly completely burnt to the ground. It was only as we were heading out that King Regis spotted movement, a nearly dead mother with a baby. We stopped because King Regis stopped. The mother begged for the king to take her son as she was dying. The King held the little one, and soon fell in love with the child of the dying mother. She told us his name was Lancex and that he was sparked with a special sword. The king agreed to take on the little one and stated that his own son would love a baby brother. She smiled and then passed. And Lancex was raised as a prince, for he was adopted by King Regis."
Optimus and Predaking nodded, now understanding Lancex was far more than met the optic. "What happened to his adoptive father King Regis?" Predaking asked, curious, as was Optimus.
"He was killed about 5 years ago after an enemy kingdom used a peace treaty to launch an attack. Not only did we lose King Regis. We also lost Gladiolus' father" Cid revealed. Poor Lancex, thought Optimus and Predaking, it seemed like the bot would lose his family just as he found one. They hoped that if they ended up with him, nothing like this would happen.
