History could explain where most kingdoms came from. There's a story that tells you who the first king was, his form of government, among other things, but Wonderland is different, because it seemed that this place had always been a mess. Everyone knew that the underground world was the brainchild of Alice, who is now on another of her journeys. How does this place stand up without a bit of organization?

Everyone knows the main characters in the story, The Red Queen, White Queen, Caterpillar, White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter. However, in all the immensity of creation, there is one character who we don't know when he started.

Rashid Afroid Decantes, a name that has been changed over the years. The creature with orange eyes, a height like one of the roses, claws like a cat's, a tail identical to that of a fox, but with the features of a human face. Where did it come from? Who created him? Did Alice invent him? How long has it been around? What is it? No answers to any of these questions. It just exists, it has always been there, watching history from afar.

"I am a battle master."

He said to his apprentice.

The wizard finally realized that he needed to tell Mal the story, so he asked the White Queen for some time and went to the garden to talk to the girl.

"You've already said that, I just have a question... well, actually several questions."

"Okay, let's start with the basics, I'm a battle master and always have been. Since the parchment came to me it's never gone away and I didn't tell you before, because you'd end up telling the others and I can't risk it."

"So, you're not an error in the system, are you?"

Mal asked, analyzing the facts.

"Yes, I'm an error, but it's a lot more complicated than it looks."

The two of them walked around the garden observing the place.

"So, I guess you're not one of the villains in the story either, are you?"

"No, I'm not."

"Is your name really Rashid?"

"No, and don't even ask me what it is, because I don't know either, apparently Alice didn't think of it."

He said, irritated by this fact.

"I'd like to say I'm not disappointed, but I'd be lying. But you've been very nice, so I'll give you a chance to explain everything to me before I get angry and you know, my eyes start to sparkle."

He laughed and took a deep breath, thinking about how to start a story that even he didn't fully know.

"You know how this world only began because Alice dreamed of it and all the creatures that live here, don't you?" She nodded. "Right, well, she didn't think of me, or she did and forgot."

"What do you mean?"

"I just exist. I saw how everyone was born and why they were born, but I have no idea how I got here. One day she imagined what it would be like if her cat laughed and voila there was the Cheshire, but how or why a tin creature with the tail of a fox, the claws of a cat, the height of a rose, a human face that can disappear, was born has no explanation."

"Wait, foxtail?"

She'd never seen that before.

"I've adapted to the human body. Well, I grew up here, going from place to place and with everyone. In the morning I had breakfast with the Hatter, then I played with the animals, Cheshire taught me how to disappear, I lived with him the longest. In the afternoon Caterpillar taught me philosophy, and then I had etiquette lessons with the White Queen and history lessons with the White Rabbit. They were all my family, but none of them knew why I existed, they looked after me while Alice wasn't here.

"Other kingdoms Rabbit?"

The young man listened attentively to everything the White Rabbit said.

"Yes, there are lots of them. There's actually one underwater."

Never let the others know, but that was his favorite lesson.

"Really?"

He loved hearing about everything that existed beyond his country.

"Yes, but none of them are like Wonders, Rashid."

"One day I want to see them all."

"A bit of tea."

Hatter appeared, interrupting the lesson.

"Hatter, now? We're in a class."

(...)

He got rid of that thought by concentrating on the present

"As I grew up, the Queen of Hearts took over the power and I couldn't understand why everyone bowed down and waited for Alice to make a change. Until one day..."

Flashback

"What are you doing Hatter? In fact, all of you?"

The great madman dragged him to a secluded spot where they all were.

"You're going after Alice."

Rabbit told him.

"Me what? I never leave Wonderland."

"Everything has a first time."

"We'll give you a potion and you'll go after them."

"Cheshire."

He appealed to his best friend.

"I'm sorry, DisparaƮtre est le secret."

He said the code for the two of them, which stood for "Disappearance is the Secret"

And just like that, with no one to help him, he disappeared in front of them.

"Look, fifty years ago..."

"Wait, how old are you?"

Mal interrupted him, thinking about his age.

"I don't know, but many years? Anyway, remember there was no Auradon? So, 50 years ago it was worse, as soon as I set foot in the human world I was totally lost, after all I'd never known any place other than Wonders. Then I met a wizard and he helped me adapt and get to know the world above. Time began to pass and I became more and more human and lost my mad part.

He said in deep sadness for having let this happen. Having lost what makes him part of Wonderland was missed and still is, even if he doesn't like to admit it.

Flashback

"So, I can't just leave everything? And there's no tea time outside of tea time?"

The wizard took the time to teach him the customs of the world he had no idea what it was like.

"Responsibilities here and we can't abandon them, Rashid"

"Within months I had already become a perfect Lord of Royalty. In fact, before that, I did go after Alice, but I couldn't do what they wanted. The girl had a life, a family and had just recently lost her father, sending her there in the middle of that mess didn't seem fair."

"And when did you become the super magic wizard?"

"I started studying magic, everything I could and did. In the morning I was one of the royals and walked around the castles, but at night I locked myself in my room and studied magic. Merlin got to know me and taught me a lot. And here comes the boring part of the story."

He took a deep breath.

"Oh, because up until now it's been super normal."

Mal scoffed.

"Don't interrupt. When that chaos started, villains everywhere, there was a day when, by accident, I was arriving at King Florian's castle with all my books and an attack came from some villain and there was a person walking in the garden as if nothing was happening. To protect him, I, by reaction, I guess, teleported towards him."

"Why is that a problem? You saved someone's life."

"The big problem was that the boy I saved wasn't just a boy, he was King Harrison."

(...)

Flashback

"Wow, what happened?" The young king asked when he noticed that he had suddenly disappeared from the castle entrance and was inside the castle itself. "Did you do it?"

"Please don't arrest me."

"Arrest you? For saving my life? How did you do that?"

He asked curiously.

"I can teleport."

"Harry."

He smiled and held out his hand to him.

"Rashid."

(...)

"I became friends with Harry. We were good friends. He never accepted the fact that I didn't reveal my magic."

"Did he put you on the Council?"

"No, actually he was opposed to it, but I joined the Council more for the knowledge than for my magic. The parchment was given to me by the wizard and the rest of the story you know.

"That's it?"

"Not enough?"

"No, but I imagined something more serious. Rashid, Maleficent is my mother, you having a fox tail is the least of my worries."

"Okay super villain, but we're spending a lot of time together and I thought I should be honest with you."

"That's sweet, you know sometimes I forget that your part of that group that killed Harry."

"Yeah, I'm not so bad then?"

"Yes, a little, you need to learn a bit."

The two hugged and Rashid closed his eyes in frustration at not having told her the whole story...
