Ghoul Break: The Familia Final Outing:
Background Event: Heather's Plights

Heather Mason was a lot of things; the head of the cheer squad, the heir to the most successful independent store in Gravesfield, and very misunderstood.

In the public eye, Heather came off as one of those snobby types, but she was the opposite of her image. She was also very conflicted about certain things in her life.

Heather wanted to take over her father's store when the time came. At the same time, she had her dreams and goals she wanted to follow.

And that's where the conflict started; she really didn't know what she wanted. She didn't know if she wanted to study business or fashion. Also adding to her woes was the recent discovery of who she liked; she liked both boys and girls.

Heather was in a daze when she learned this, and if she was being honest, it scared her a little. She knew many of her peers weren't exactly kind to those of "certain" types. So, when Luz Noceda, of all people, tried to ask her out, Heathe had an internal freakout. So, to save face, she rejected the girl in the most snobby fashion imaginable.

Heather lost a couple of nights of sleep because of her actions that day.

Fast forward to nearly eight months later, and things took a turn for the weird. Demons and witches were real and were in danger due to a madman. But, in the end, the demons and witches were saved thanks to Luz.

Heather was still reeling from that, and before she knew it, Gravesfield and the Boiling Isles began to mingle.

Around this time, Heather noticed a witch among Luz's "extended" family. This witch had three eyes and a skin tone that was hard to miss in a crowd of humans, and Heather found herself staring at this witch for a long time.

When Luz and her family left that day, and Heather could think clearly, she believed her behavior was because she found the witch's appearance interesting.

She couldn't use that argument when she meant the witch, Boscha, a few weeks later.

Surprisingly, Heather and Boscha talked while the witch waited on her guardian. The human girl wouldn't lie; she thought Boscha was beautiful. Unfortunately, she didn't spend much time with her as Mrs. Noceda soon came to get Boscha.

Heather couldn't deny her growing feelings for the witch girl, especially after talking to her and realizing something; Boscha was in pain.

Heather recognized that pain immediately, having lost someone close to her at a young age. So she decided to talk to Luz about it the next time she saw her, only to chicken out when she got the chance.

She didn't ask about Boscha. Instead, she just gave an apology for her previous actions. She then took her leave before she dug herself a deeper hole.

It was a few days after that embarrassing scene Heather ran into Boscha while on an errand for her dad. The human girl could see through Boscha's touch act when she asked if everything was okay.

It took some time, but Heather got Boscha to open up. During this time, Heather started realizing her feelings for the witch might go deeper than she first thought.

Heather decided, at that moment, that she would try to help this witch in any way possible.

So, that's how the young found herself outside the high school five months later, waiting on someone. Heather scanned the crowd as the day ended and found the person she was looking for.

"Hey, Masha!" Heather called out.

Masha Blacklight looked at the cheerleader and frowned when they saw who it was.

"Hey, Heather," Masha replied dully.

"Umm, can we talk for a moment?" Heather asked hesitantly, looking at the part-time historian's friends.

Masha must have got the idea and sighed. They nodded and went with Heather to a more private place.

"What do you want, Heather?" Masha asked dully.

Heather sighed slightly and looked Masha in the eyes.

"I just wanted to know what this whole Ghoul Break and "knocking down" means?" Heather replied meekly.

"Are you spying on me?" Mash asked suspiciously.

Heather quickly moved to defend herself, holding her hands up and saying, "No, no. I just overheard my dad talking with your dad over drinks, and I was curious."

Masha studied their sort of friend, and Heather began to sweat. Masha sighed after a minute of staring and nodded.

"Okay," they said reluctantly, "But I know what you did to my girl's sister, and if you're trying to pull anything, I don't pull punches."

"I promise," Heather replied honestly, "I just want to know more about the demon realm, and the way your dad talked this Ghoul Break is a bigger deal than Spring Break."

Masha sighed tiredly but nodded as they began to explain the event surrounding Ghoul Break.

Like the rest of this story, I'm trying something a bit different with side content. The side content would mark the transition between days, meaning the next chapter starts the beach arc.
