Bowsette: A New Life

Chapter 8
Of Battles Gone By

"Mario! Fight me!" The two rivals stood across a bridge over a river of lava, the red capped mustached man on one side, the Queen of Evil on the other. Without another word the two charged at each other, Mario matching his agility against the woman's raw strength and fire breath. A ball of fire would launch towards the Italian hero, he would jump over it and throw a few of his own back, which Bowsette would dodge or bat away.

It was a clash of titans that had repeated so many times both had lost count. Bowsette rushed in close and swiped with her claws, managing to grab the plumber's arm. "I'm going to win this time!" Bowsette barely managed to get out before Mario's foot collided with her face. "You-a never beat me!" The man yelled back as he pulled away. Bowsette noticed she was having a bit of trouble seeing and swiped the hair out of her eyes.

Bowsette roared with fury. "You messed up… MY HAIR!" Opening her mouth, she spewed a stream of fire Mario barely avoided. He struck out with a fist that Bowsette caught, lashing out with the other and hitting her in the stomach. "Yes…" Bowsette smiled. "Come at me! Show me what you got you shrimpy little plumber! Show me…"

"Show me..." The Koopa Queen mumbled in her sleep. Her hand had traveled under the covers and was… busy. "Ooh! That hurts… come on… I want more… Hit me again!" She grinned as she whimpered and twitched. "Mario…"

Suddenly Bowsette snapped awake. "Ah!" She jolts up in bed as the dream finally let go of her. Bowsette breathed heavily, covered in sweat, and soon looked down at herself. "Okay, what the fuck…?" It took Bowsette a minute to remember what had happened just a few weeks ago. "Oh right… dammit…" Bowsette staggered out of bed, she always slept with her full glory on display.

Bowsette moved to the bathroom next to her chambers and lit a torch with her breath. The confused Queen splashed some water on her face and looked in the mirror. The face that looked back still felt odd to her, but she was getting used to it. Still, she was less than her best right now and that look in her own eyes was befuddled. 'I was dreaming about something… something about fighting Mario?' Bowsette thought to herself.

Bowsette shook her head and got into the shower to clean off. Out the small window she saw it was about dawn. "Ugh…" She was tempted to just lie down and sleep the day away, but she had work to do. She stepped out of the shower and dried herself off with her own fire breath. She took a minute to gussy herself up in the mirror, a habit that seemed to almost come to her automatically.

The Koopa Queen got ready for her day. Thankfully she didn't have to call Kamek in here to help her put on her clothes anymore, though Bowsette was still having a bit of trouble with the little makeup she bothered to put on. She slipped into a dress, black as the clouds eternally circling the skies of the Koopa Kingdom. Bowsette stepped into her heels, which she was finally starting to get the hang of walking in. "Ugh." Another day of reading, but she was almost done. She had never put all that much thought into how many times she had tried to take over the Mushroom Kingdom nor how many times she kidnapped Peach, but this was putting things into perspective for her.

What was clear from the reports was that not much was different in that regard. Breaking into Peach's Castle and taking the Power Stars... Stealing the Star Rod… Junior ruining Isle Delfino… even the latest from the Moon Kingdom and such. Very little that she could tell had changed in her plans or how Mario ultimately foiled them.

Bowsette twitched at the thought of Bowser Junior… or just Bowser as he was called now. That was one meeting she had been putting off for as long as she could. From what she could gather she hadn't had to lie about Peach being his mama here, Junior had kidnapped Peach out of simple devotion to his mother or maybe out of the belief that Bowsette was in love with Peach, Bowsette wasn't entirely sure which.

What had changed significantly was Bowsette's relationship with Peach. To all indications Kamek was right, she, the other Bowsette, didn't give a chomp's chain link about Princess Peach. As she was now Bowsette was still confused about what the woman's motivation had been. She still wanted to rule the Mushroom Kingdom, but kidnapping Peach rarely ever had anything to do with that goal. It was an odd feeling, learning about someone while technically being them was such a one in a billion situation. Especially since there's so much about her that was just like the Bowser she once was yet so much was different, it could get pretty surreal.

Bowsette shook her head and decided it didn't matter. That Bowsette was dead as far as the former Bowser was concerned, and she was going to succeed where both of them had failed. She was certain of tha… "ARRGH! Oh, fuck no not again… KAMEK!" Bowsette yelled as she took a step and sprained her ankle for the 20th time. She apparently still had a long long way to go…

Author's Note: From this point forward I will be referring to Bowsette's son Bowser as Bowser Jr. for the duration of this fanfic for simplicity and to distinguish them better from the former Koopa King turned Queen.

I decided to release 2 chapters this week. Sorry I was late posting! I also decided to add names to the chapter titles on Fanfiction from now on. I may or may not go back and fix the previous chapter titles as well.
