Bowsette: A New Life

Chapter 14
…..?

This was it. Mario had fought through countless dangers, hundreds of villains both under Bowsette's employ and not, but few were as evil as the woman that now held his life in her hands. In his last moments his mind flashed through all he'd been through, dozens of battles against Bowsette, the Smithy Gang, Cackletta, the Shroob army, and other villains at times, but Bowsette had been the most frequent and relentless foe. Mario knew beyond a doubt that her heart was filled with evil, and she felt not an ounce of decency or mercy for anyone.

Mario had seen the devastation and destruction the woman had wrought over the years and now would wreak for decades more with Mario no longer around to stop her. More than Peach, Mario's thoughts came to the innocents that would suffer under Bowsette's rule now that he had failed. Luigi would try his best to stop her he knew, but that might be Mario's greatest regret, having to leave it all to him. 'Good luck bro.' Mario closed his eyes and braced for the blow.

Bowsette felt such elation as she looked down at her longtime foe helpless before her. In moments he would be dead, and then nothing would stand in her way, not even that Green Stache. The Mushroom Kingdom, the Bean Bean Kingdom, Sarasaland, and perhaps even galaxies beyond, all was hers for the taking. Bowsette couldn't help but savor the anticipation for a few seconds as the implications rushed through her mind, but she wasn't going to stall and give a chance for something to save him like some second-rate villain. With a roar, Bowsette plunged her hand down towards the plumber.

A loud crashing sound filled Mario's ears, making his left ear ring. 'Am I dead? No, I'm-a in too much pain to be in the Underwhere.' Slowly, Mario opened his eyes and gaped. Right next to Mario's head Bowsette's arm had impacted the bridge hard enough to completely punch straight through it. Bowsette was breathing heavily but gone was the fury in her eyes. In fact, her eyes looked… odd, like she wasn't entirely there.

Mario's own eyes on the other hand were burning with the hatred of someone who had been fighting against a great evil for years. Maybe Bowsette decided to taunt him more before she killed him. Mario almost wished she'd stop playing around and get it over with. Bowsette never cared about anyone or anything except maybe her kids. Even her own kingdom was a footnote to her ambitions. 'What is she-a waiting for?' Mario wondered. Even the iron-willed plumber felt a stab of fear as Bowsette leaned down towards him. 'She-a gonna bite my head off? Roast me-a alive? Gore me-a with her horns? She-a gonna…?' "Ooomph!" Mario tried to yell in surprise as her lips gently impacted his.

"Mmm…" Bowsette moaned into Mario's mouth as she kissed him. Bowsette placed the hand that so nearly ended the plumber's life tenderly against Mario's cheek with her lips locked against his. An irresistible desire had come over her at the last moment, and now all she wanted to do was kiss the man. She pulled up to take a breath only to plunge down kissing Mario more and more fiercely.

'What… the… FANCULO!?' Mario's mind spun as he found himself suddenly making out with the Koopa Queen. "Hmmm… mmm…" Bowsette seemed to be enjoying herself at least, and Mario had to admit it wasn't unpleasant. Her breath smelled like the embers of a campfire; her lips were softer than silk. Mario had kissed women before, even Peach briefly, but this was… to put it bluntly, way too fucked up to compare.

After a minute of this, Bowsette pulled away and sat up again, still looking down at Mario with those odd eyes Mario now realized were filled with lust. She started to lean back down again when the same eyes widened as her senses came back to her. 'What in the fucking Underwhere am I doing!?' Bowsette felt panic jolting through her mind as new sensations came to her one after another, followed by images. She envisioned slowly slipping off her dress with Mario's overalls following. She pictured the two on her bed, rolling around under the sheets, she could almost feel his hands running along her…

'NO!' Bowsette screamed in her head. 'Fuck I gotta get outta here. I gotta…' Bowsette reaches into a pouch on her dress and drops the key on the bridge. She leaps off Mario towards the exit door and rushes to the door, not daring to look back. "TAKE YOUR GODDAMN PRINCESS!" Bowsette flings the door open and rushes out, tears streaming down her face. 'No no no no no no…' Bowsette rushes upstairs past her devastated but revivable minions and continued towards the throne room, taking a left and running into her room. 'God of all Koopas what is happening to me?' Shutting and locking the door behind her, Bowsette slumped to the floor and wept.

Mario was just starting to enjoy his situation despite his confusion when Bowsette seemed to completely lose it. He was too stunned to do anything but lay on the ground and watch as she screamed at him and ran out of the room like demons were after her. The plumber picked himself off the ground shakily and grabbed the key off the ground. First things first, Peach had to be saved. Mario made his way to the door and opened it.

"Mario!" Peach rushed up to the plumber. "I knew she was just being cocky! I knew you would win!" Peach tried to embrace Mario in a hug, but he pushed her off with what little strength he had left. "Mario…?" Peach looked down at him confused. "No, I didn't win." Mario admitted. "Let's-a get outta here." Mario said coolly. This had been an ordeal all in its own, but facing Peach was one of the hardest parts. Mario didn't feel elation or relief at the sight of Peach after a rescue like he usually did, Mario just felt… tired.

"Okay…" Peach was befuddled at her hero's behavior. Peach followed along quietly as Mario led her out of the castle and across the main bridge. The two traveling companions started to make their way across the Koopa Kingdom to get back to the Mushroom Kingdom. It wasn't long before Mario struggled just to walk. Peach looked around for a magic mushroom somewhere to help restore his strength, or the two weren't going to make it.

Little did anyone know there was someone watching the proceedings through his crystal ball. "I knew it." The old Magikoopa chuckled to himself.

Author's Note: With this, the first arc of the story is drawing to a close. Let me know how it's been so far!

EDIT NOTE: I just noticed I missed posting the last few sentences of this chapter, detailed below:

Elsewhere…Night had fallen in a nondescript forest somewhere in the Mushroom Kingdom. Aside from the sounds of the insects and the occasional bird, all was quiet. A gentle breeze blew through the trees as the view focuses on a particularly old tree that had stood for centuries. For several seconds, all was still.

A thundercloud filled the sky seemingly out of nowhere. The wind began to blow more and more fiercely. Loud thunder without lightning sounded and then… a bolt of pinkish lightning hit the ground.
