Bowsette: A New Life
Chapter 18
Arriving at the date
A cheerful whistle emits from the red plumber's mouth as Mario makes his way down to what was formally known as World 4-1. The sun was beginning to set, but there was plenty of light for Mario to see his way. Bowsette's letter mentioned meeting her at the small fort there, probably because it was roughly where the border between the Mushroom Kingdom and Koopa Kingdom was. It was nice to have to go there and for once have the chance to take in the scenery without being attacked by Bowsette's minions constantly. Though another of those strange pink lightning storms had happened a couple minutes ago.
As Mario saw the fort in the distance, he stopped for a moment to look himself over. He had gotten one of his red and blue suits for the occasion though he rarely wore such things. The last time being when he dressed up in the white suit and top hat he tried to propose to Peach in. As he reached the fort, he stopped to comb his hair and put his hat in his pocket for now. Taking a breath to calm his nervousness he knocked at the fort door.
Mario still wasn't exactly sure why he was doing this. He and Bowsette had been enemies for so long it was difficult to conceive of the two even so much as being friends. Bowsette was evil to the core and though they had worked together in the past to fight some greater threats like the Smithy Gang it was always begrudgingly. Even if Bowsette stuck to the treaty she was still a tyrant and would probably start conquering other kingdoms soon. The fact that Bowsette kidnapped Peach countless times also irked Mario, even considering the falling out the two have had.
Two goombas opened the door for Mario and, steeling himself, he stepped inside. "This way Master Mario." One of them said and led him on. Mario didn't think this was some sort of trap, Bowsette already had her chance to kill him, but he was still wary. Heading down the stairs to the lower part of the fort, Bowsette was sitting at a long dining table waiting for him… in what appeared to be the fort dungeons complete with the skeletons of past prisoners inside the cells. Mario felt oddly relieved to see this, given that the dark and miserable surroundings were perfectly in character for the woman.

Bowsette spent hours combing her hair, picking a dress, and having Kamek help her apply more makeup than usual. The rarity of women in her forces to help her with these sorts of things was becoming a problem for Bowsette, but it would be problematic to tell anyone else but Kamek her situation anyway. Bowsette had to look her best if she was going to shoot Mario down, but she also needed to be ready to fight when he attacked after her rejection. After all, Mario hated her, how could he not after all the two had been through over the years?
"Enough." Bowsette said after Kamek had finished. "I'm going to be late. No wonder women take so blasted long getting ready…" Bowsette noted. "Prepare my Koopa Copter." Kamek nodded. "Shall I accompany you Mistress?" Kamek asked. "Actually… yeah." Bowsette decided. It would be nice to have someone who understood her situation around. "Just stay out of the way. Once I turn Mario down things will get violent and I don't want you being hurt."
Kamek hid his smile. 'Sure. Right. Uh huh.' Kamek thought incredulously. Although Kamek couldn't help but feel pride as his Queen expressed concern for him. As good as she was to them compared to other villains generally Queen Bowsette threw her minions at whatever she wanted to see dead or conquered without much thought most of the time. Of course she could have most of them resurrected from the dead anyway. Kamek sighed and headed away to prepare the Copter and whatever else his Queen needed.
Bowsette slipped on her best dress and made her way up to the roof. Her personal Koopa Copter was fueled and prepped for flight at any moment. 'Still a chance to turn around you know.' Bowsette thought to herself. "No, let's get this over with." She sighed, boarded the Koopa Copter, and was on her way. Kamek of course jumped on his broom and flew along behind her.
As Bowsette flew towards 4-1, the sky grew dark with black clouds. Pink lighting jumped from one cloud to the next. "Weird weather again…" Bowsette closed the glass cover of the Copter and continued on, Kamek would protect himself with magic. The bolts flew close to the Koopa Copter but barely missed it by inches. "Whoa!" Bowsette could do little except speed up and hope to reach the 4-1 fort before something hit her.
Thankfully, Bowsette avoided the lightning strikes and landed on the roof of the little fort. Kamek landed next to her. "My Queen! We should get inside! Obex!" Kamek placed a magic shield over the two as Bowsette exited her Copter. The two rush inside and shut the doors behind them. "Phew! That was the worst one yet!" Bowsette breathed. She stopped for a moment to fix her hair a bit. "How do I look?" Bowsette asked.
"Radiant as always Mistress. Um… I mean, you look fearsome as ever!" Kamek corrected. Bowsette chuckled. "And don't you forget it. Guards!" Bowsette waited for several Goombas to arrive. "Has our guest arrived yet?" She asked. "No, my Queen. Reports are that Mario crossed the border recently. He should be here within minutes." A Goomba guard said.
"Good. Direct him to the dungeons for dinner. I trust everything has been prepared for the feast?" Bowsette asked, despite knowing these goons wouldn't dare fail her, especially on something like this. "Yes Ma'am! Everything is ready! We've achieved maximum ambiance!" Bowsette's cheeks were red. "G…Good! Now for my plan… I must drop him like a ton of brick blocks!" Bowsette heads down to the dungeons to get ready.
"Hey Gomba. Do you think Kamek's plan will work?" One of the guards asked the other. "I'm almost afraid if it does. Having to call that… that plumber King Mario someday? The thought almost makes me chuck up the Goomnuts I had this morning…" Gomba sighed. "Maybe, but something needs to be done. The queen has been acting really weird lately. I miss when we were still trying to subjugate lands." The other Goomba scoffs. "If she marries him she's never going to conquer anything ever again, Mario wouldn't allow it." Gomba shrugged as best as a goomba could. "True. Maybe she could convince him to go attack Wart or something. I don't really care, I just want to see some action again!"
