Dear Draco,
The castle is so empty. It is kinda nice having the entire school almost to myself. I definitely have the entire Slytherin first-year boys dormitory to myself.
I hope you're having a great Christmas at Malfoy Manor.
Best,
Harry

Dear Hermione,
You won't believe what I got for Christmas this morning! Somebody sent my Dad's invisibility cloak! Now I can sneak into the restricted section of the library and look for Nicholas Flamel. Hopefully, I'll find something there.
Merry Christmas!
Best,
Harry

Dear Harry,
Christmas at Malfoy Manor sucks! My parents host this annual Christmas party for their friends, and it's very boring.
I hope you're not feeling too lonely.
Regards,
Draco Malfoy
P.S. I hope you like your present!

Dear Harry,
Thank you! I am having such a great time here with my family. I hope school isn't feeling too lonely for you. I sent you something to keep you company. Consider your Christmas present.
Sincerely,
Hermione

Dear Draco,
Thank you very much for the present! It seems very expensive, you really shouldn't have.
I haven't been so lonely these past couple of days, as I have found company. I ran into Ron Weasley, remember him? From the train? He stayed over break because his parents are visiting his brother in Romania. He was playing Wizarding Chess (I guess you call it Chess) in the Great Hall the other day, and he's teaching me how to play. Maybe we should play together when you come back.
Another crazy thing happened yesterday. I was giving my invisibility cloak a try (oh, yes! I got an invisibility cloak for Christmas), and I almost got caught, so I hid in an empty classroom, except there was a mirror in there. I think the mirror shows you the past, because it shows me a reflection of me with my parents. I'm going there tonight again with Ron.
I hope Christmas at the Manor isn't so bleak.
Best,
Harry

Dear Hermione,
Thank you for the book! It seems very interesting, and I am certain I will enjoy reading it.
As I told Draco, I've been spending time with Ron Weasley. I ran into him the other day playing Wizarding Chess in the Great Hall, and now he's teaching me it.
Also, the other night, when I snuck out to go to the restricted section of the library, I almost got caught and had to hide in an empty classroom. I found there the weirdest mirror. Initially, I thought it showed you the past, because it showed me my parents, but I went there the next night with Ron, it showed him himself but older, with a lot of prizes and medals. Which means it shows you the future? Is that possible? But my parents are dead. I'm going there again tonight.
Best,
Harry

Dear Harry,
Don't mention it! It really is nothing. I hope you liked it.
I didn't know the Weasleys could afford traveling. Good for them!
The mirror thing sounds interesting. Let me know what you find out…
Regards,
Draco Malfoy

Dear Harry,
I'm happy to hear you liked the book!
Oh, I'm happy to hear you've found company. What do you think of Ron? He's around sometimes when I spend time with Neville, but we don't talk much.
The mirror does sound weird. Just please don't let it get in your head. It's just a mirror. And I know this is hard to hear, but I don't think it can bring your parents back. There's no type of magic that can reverse death.
Have you found anything in the restricted section about Nicholas Flamel?
Sincerely,
Hermione
December 29, 1991
Dear Hermione,
Jeez! I know the mirror won't bring back my parents. It just was nice to see myself with them. But I suppose you're right. Sounds like Dumbledore agrees with you too. He caught me yesterday, in the classroom where the mirror is. The mirror is called the mirror of Erised, and it shows you your deepest desire. Dumbledore says he sees himself with a pair of socks. I think he's lying. What do you think you'd see in the mirror?
Ron is cool. We've been spending a lot of time together. He's been telling me about his family. Did you know his brother studied dragons? That's cool. His mother also sent me a sweater. Isn't that sweet.
I have not found anything on Nicholas Flamel. Yet.
Best,
Harry

Dear Draco,
So, the mirror is called the mirror of Erised, and it shows you your deepest desire. What do you think you would see in the mirror?
Best,
Harry
December 30, 1991
Dear Harry,
I'm sorry.
I did not mean for it to come off like that. I just did not want you to get your hopes up. It happens.
I think I would see myself in a library.
Ron's mum sounds very sweet.
Stay out of trouble, and update me on Nicholas Flamel.
Sincerely,
Hermione

Dear Harry,
I think I would see myself as the Minister of Magic, and my father congratulating me. I'm telling you, one day it'll happen.
Regards,
Draco Malfoy
