Remus' first two months as a professor at Hogwarts went by fast.

He's been enjoying himself, and for once in his life, his… uh… condition wasn't getting in the way.

Returning to his old school again, after all these years, proved to be very nostalgic. Being around the hallways and classrooms he used to roam with his old friends has been bringing back a lot of memories.

Being around Harry, as well. He looks so much like James, but his eyes… they're just like Lily's.

After the Boggart lesson, he offered to teach Harry how to defend himself against Dementors. So they started meeting every other week, and they've been making progress…

"Think of a happy memory." The secret to produce a Patronus.

The most Harry has been able to achieve so far is a bit of glow at the end of his wand.

"You know, I could simply use Lumos for that…" Harry once said, in frustration.

"Don't give up, Harry!"

Spending so much time around Harry has been making him think about all the what-if's… What if James and Lily didn't die? What if Sirius never betrayed them? What if there was no war at all?

What if he wasn't a werewolf? Then he could've taken care of Harry.

Especially today! The death anniversary of James and Lily.

Remus buried himself in work. He spent the morning grading essays, and planning lessons for the upcoming week. Before he knew it, it was lunch time, and his stomach let him know it.

He could've had his lunch served to him in his office, but he's been sitting down for too long, so he decided to take a walk to the kitchen.

After loading his pockets with wrapped sandwiches and ton of sweets for dessert, he made his way back to his office, only to bump into Harry in one of the hallways.

"Harry!" Remus was surprised to see him. He thought he went to Hogsmeade with the rest of his classmates.

Harry was just as happy to see him. He was coming back from the library, carrying a bunch of books. Harry explained to him that he couldn't go to Hogsmeade, because he didn't get his slip signed.

Remus realized how lonely Harry must be feeling, and he did not want him to spend today, especially today, alone.

"I got some tasty sandwiches and sweets from the kitchen," Remus proposed, "would you care to share?"

Harry took him on his offer. They went outside the castle, and walked around as they ate the food Remus has acquired from the kitchen.

It was cold outside. It is, after all, the end of October. Luckily, both Harry and Remus were dressed up accordingly. Harry was wearing a Slytherin quidditch sweater, which he stole from Draco, and Lupin was wearing a coat.

"You know, Harry, I was really good friends with your parents." Remus told him. He'd been wanting to tell him for a while now, but didn't know how. Today seemed appropriate.

"You were?" Harry was intrigued.

"Yes, we went to Hogwarts together…"

"What were they like?"

Remus hasn't talked anyone about his friends since that fateful night.

"James was always up to no good," Remus chuckled, and Harry smiled at the idea of his father being mischievous, and not dead. "Lily, on the other hand, was an exemplary student. She was also the kindest and most caring person I have ever met."

"How did they get together?"

"Oh, that's quite the story." Remus proceeded to tell Harry the up and downs of Lily Evans and James Potter throughout their Hogwarts years.

They talked for hours. About many things.

They talked some more about Harry's parents. They talked about Harry as well, a lot.

"So, you're friends with the Malfoy kid, huh?" Draco Malfoy came up, and Remus couldn't help his curiosity.

They talked about him being sorted into Slytherin.

"I gotta say, I was surprised you weren't sorted into Gryffindor."

"Because my parents were?"

"Yes," answered Remus. "I would've given anything to witness James's reaction to his son getting sorted into Slytherin." Remus joked, followed by a chuckle.

"You think he would've minded?"

Remus didn't realize Harry could understand it this way. "What? No!" He said, before quickly adding, "he loved you so very much, and a sorting wouldn't have changed that."

They also talked about Harry's schoolwork.

"I just finished an essay on Animagi for professor McGonagall," it seems Harry also buried himself in work this morning.

"If it helps, I have some books about Animagi in my office, I could…" Remus started saying, when he stopped, and stared, terrified, into the woods.

Harry noticed and looked towards where Remus was looking, but whatever was there, wasn't anymore.

"You okay, professor?"

No. Right there. He saw him. A big black dog. Padfoot.
