"You tricked me!" Ron pointed an accusing finger.
"I'm very sorry," Harry said, as he put Ron in a chair in Lupin's office.
"Why did you bring me here?" Ron objected. "Take me to the Hospital Wing," referring to his injured ankle.
"You deserve an explanation." Lupin ended that discussion, as he closed the door behind them. Then, he turned to Harry, "where's the rat?"
"What do you want with Scabbers?" Ron objected.
Remus shot him a confused look.
"The rat." Draco provided an explanation.
"Oh, that's cute." Lupin simply said, as Harry handed him the enchanted bag with Scabbers in it.
Lupin took the rat out of the enchanted bag and pointed his wand at it.
"Please don't hurt him!"
"This is not gonna hurt him." Lupin assured him, and cast the spell.
The four of them watched as the rat twisted in excruciating pain in the air. Gradually, the rat's limbs started growing. Soon, his body was also growing, and he turned into a small little man.
Peter Pettigrew stood there in the middle of the room. Everyone watched in awe and shock, but mostly Ron.
"Get Dumbledore." Lupin turned to Draco, who obliged. "Lock the door." He, then, turned to Harry, who also obliged.
"I can explain."
"What exactly?" Remus countered. "Betraying your friends? Framing your other friend? Faking your death for twelve years?"
Lupin's tone was getting angrier by the second.
"They would've killed me," he pleaded. He then turned to Harry. "Oh boy, look how you've grown."
"Don't!" Lupin extended his hand, as if shielding Harry, who was standing right next to him.
Peter also tried to plead to Ron, but the latter just stared at him blankly. Still processing.
That continued for a while before…
*Knock* *Knock*
Lupin magically opened the door, which revealed behind it professor Dumbledore. Draco was with him.
"Well well," said Dumbledore. "What a surprise indeed."
Out of nowhere a chair appeared behind both Peter and Dumbledore. Dumbledore gestured for Peter to sit, and so he did.
"Tell me everything." Dumbledore said, and laid a silver antenna-shaped device on the table.
As Peter told his version of the events, Dumbledore's device would ping.
"Don't lie."
"I'm not!"
"My lie detector suggests otherwise."
And so, Dumbledore took Peter's testimony.
*Knock* *Knock*
"Are we expecting someone else?" Harry turned to Lupin, who seemed to be just as confused.
"I am." Dumbledore said, stood up, and walked to the door to open it.
"Dumbledore! I Floo-ed in as soon as I got your message." A short burly man, with grey hair, made his way through the door.
"Thank you for making the time, Minister."
He scanned the room, and when his eyes landed on Pettigrew, they widened.
"This is unbelievable."
"It is indeed," Dumbledore agreed.
"What does this mean? If he's alive, then… I don't get… what? How?" Fudge seemed to be very very confused by all this.
"If you'd be willing, we can discuss it all in my office." Dumbledore said, as he opened the door , and stood by it. Fudge simply nodded, and left the room to Dumbledore's office.
"I believe you all have had a long tiring day." Dumbledore turned to Remus, Harry, Draco, and Ron. "Mister Weasley should also probably get some medical attention for Mrs. Pomfrey."
"What about Pettigrew?" Harry asked. "Won't he escape?"
"I'll secure the room." Dumbledore assured him.
"What does this mean for Sirius?" Remus asked.
"That's what I'm about to find out."
