38. Chapter 38: Good Old Grimmauld Place

With new evidence resurfacing regarding the case of MoM vs. Sirius Black, the case was reopened. After a month of trial, Sirius was found innocent. He also received monetary compensation for the years he unjustly spent in Azkaban, which he gave to Remus. After all, Sirius was the heir to the House of Black, and Remus needed the money more than he did.

Remus, being a key witness in the very public trial of Sirius Black, came under the scrutiny of Hogwarts's parents, and lost his job as a result. But, with the money he received from Sirius, he was gonna survive. Besides, he was moving to Sirius's place.

"This is temporary." Remus told Sirius.

"I know." Sirius said, amused by his friend's stubbornness.

"This does not mean-"

"I know." Sirius interrupted, but then added: "Although, you can definitely stay for as long as you want."

Peter Pettigrew, while in the Ministry's custody, awaiting trial, managed to escape. The Ministry launched an investigation into the matter.

Harry, after spending a couple of weeks, as the trial wrapped up, with the Dursley's, moved to 12 Grimmauld Place, Black's ancestral home, with Sirius and Lupin. He would spend most of his summer there, alongside the occasional visits to Malfoy Manor, which Sirius wasn't too enthusiastic about.

"Draco can come here," Sirius said, "I don't like you being too close to Lucius Malfoy."

Remus shared Sirius's sentiment.

Lucius, however, was rarely around the manor. According to Draco, he's been busier then usual, constantly on business trips.

"Probably doing some work for the ministry abroad." Draco reasoned. "But, he promised he'll be here for the Quidditch World Cup finals!"

"I'm so excited for it! Sirius and Remus are taking me too!"

It was nice to finally have adults in his life that actually cared about him. Sirius and Remus were there for him like the Dursleys never were. Sirius was, after all, his godfather. And, while Remus was not officially his godfather, he was definitely just as present and involved. Well, except during his time of the month.

As for Kreacher, Sirius sent him to Hogwarts.
