Hello, everyone, and welcome back to another chapter of "A Long Distance Ship"! In the previous chapter, Brock caught a Mudkip and the twerps had another run in with the villanous Teams Magma and Aqua (while gaining even more questions about them and receiving little answers). Anyways, in this chapter, Ash will wrap up his training and finally get to his rematch with Brawly, which means telling Misty all about it when he gets back to the center after the match! Now let's get going!

Ash, I am sorry for emailing you without waiting for a response (especially as you are spending days away from a place where you are able to contact me), but I heard that a hurricane warning is in effect on Dewford Island! If you are still out training, get back to town as soon as possible, or try to get to a safe place! I am praying for your safety, Ash.
Misty.

Hey there, Misty, I am sorry for not responding sooner, but I am safe from the storm. May, Max, Brock, and I ended up spending the night in a cave on high ground with Brawly and a fan-girl of his by the name of Shauna. I battled her twice. The first time, she was a lot like me during my loss to Brawly. We didn't end up finishing the battle due to Brawly warning us about the storm. But when the storm cleared, we resumed and she ended up shifting her strategy. While it was enough to get her to be Brawly's apprentice, it wasn't enough for her to beat Pikachu. We then arrived at Brawly's secret training base in the middle of the ocean for our rematch. We encountered the TRio, who got blasted off by one of the geysers in the gym. (Speaking of the TRio, one of Jessie's Pokemon evolved since our last email, as her Cascoon, not Silcoon as I said earlier, evolved into a Dustox. May's Silcoon evolved also, becoming a Beautifly.) Anyways, speaking of the gym battle, it went a lot more smoothly than the last time I battled Brawly. And guess what? I actually won without using Pikachu! Treecko and Corphish were the stars of the show, using the rocky battlefield, the moat around it, and the geyser holes to their advantage in order to get me a Knuckle Badge! I cannot tell you how great I think the battle went, but I think Max's recording off of his Pokenav can… It's not as impressive as the one I got from Roxanne, but it's possible.
Ash

Hey Ash, I have just watched your Dewford Island Gym Rematch, and I have to say… you have really grown a lot from all of that training on Dewford Island. It was a good idea for you to have Treecko pretend that the rocks on the battlefield were trees in his forest home in order to avoid Machop's attacks. However, he still has not used a single Grass-type move since you have captured him. You trained for your rematch for nearly two weeks and STILL did not teach him a grass move? By this rate, my Psyduck could learn a Water-move before your Treecko does! But still, he was the one who finished off Hariyama by throwing him off balance, so I shouldn't be too upset about your Treecko's growth. My favorite part of the battle was (surprise surprise) Corphish. I didn't think you would use him because he was so new and you had a flier fit for fighting fighting foes in Taillow, but you certainly used Corphish well in the battle, especially with his surroundings to take out Machop and do a decent amount of damage on Hariyama before Treecko finished the job. And all of it without using Pikachu in the battle! You see Ash, it may have taken you a loss and two weeks of training on Dewford Island to learn it, but you don't need to over rely on your Pikachu in order to win your gym battles. Now good luck on your next gym challenge, wherever it may be!
