Hello, everyone, and welcome back to another chapter of "A Long Distance Ship". In the last chapter, Ash and his friends have arrived at Slateport City, and May met her future rival Drew. Now they will spend some more time in Slateport City training up for May's contest. Something I like about the Slateport arc more than the Dewford arc is that despite Ash staying in one place in both arcs, he can continually talk to Misty in this one (11 episodes in the previous arc, but only 4 chapters in this story for a 3/1 ratio of episodes to chapters; 4 episodes in this arc for as many chapters, including this one.) Anyways, what will Ash have to talk about today? Read on to find out!

Hey, Misty. May was out doing more training with Beautifly for her contest tomorrow, leaving Max, Brock, and I to take care of her Torchic while she was away. Brock and I explained how the first Pokémon is always the most important to a trainer, which made Max more hopeful for when his 10th birthday comes. Speaking of first Pokémon, we had quite the experience with them as Nurse Joy asked Max and I to watch over the starters she planned on giving a new trainer by the name of Stephanie today (any town without a lab has trainers pick up their starter here at the Pokémon Center), May found a beached Wailord, the biggest Pokémon known to man, and Brock and Nurse Joy rushed out to help. However, it was a lot easier said than done, as the Torchic she planned on potentially giving to Stephanie ran off and may or may not have evolved into a Combusken, which was bad news for me and Max. We tried to hide the fact from Nurse Joy and May (we planned on having May's Torchic act as the one Nurse Joy intended to give to Stephanie, and try and convince her not to pick Torchic), but the tower of lies quickly fell when Combusken burst out of the closet we trapped him in and May burst into the special moment. There was no time to explain what happened, as Team Rocket swooped in while we were all in the Pokémon Center to try and disrupt Wailord's rest! Luckily, the recently evolved Combusken stepped up and sent those losers blasting off (with some help from Pikachu, of course). After all of that, we cleared everything up as Nurse Joy decided to have Combusken act as a guard Pokémon for the center as Stephanie ended up choosing Mudkip as her first Pokémon. Her dad even got his first Pokémon, despite being as old as any three people in my group combined. That made Max all the more excited for when the day comes when he turns 10 in about 3 years. Anyways, I hope you are having a good day today, Misty.

Hey there, Ash. I am glad that Max got the chance to look after some Pokémon, even if it went south. Stephanie definitely made the right choice today (my bias towards Water Pokémon shining through.) As for what happened with Wailord, I've never heard of a Pokémon that big! Togepi is even shocked at how big Wailord could get, as Wailord is almost as tall as four dozen of her stacked one on top of the other! Anyways, my day was pretty good today. Just a typical day of trainers coming to the gym to challenge me for a gym badge. I lost some, I won some, and it helped me grow as a trainer. I hope you continue to grow as a trainer as well, and tell May I wish her luck for her first contest!

Misty

And there you have it, another chapter, and another set of emails share between our favorite trainers. And if you thought Misty loved hearing about Wailord, just wait until she learns about a new Pokemon Ash sees in the next chapter... But as for this chapter, I am proud to announce we have hit 5,000 views over Pi Day (3/14)! It should have been earlier, but this dang website works as often as a McDonald's ice cream machine and some of the views got eaten up. Still, I am happy we have reached the milestone, and happy that Ian left review #30! Remember to favorite, follow, and review so we can continue to reach those milestones! I will see you next time, and have a good weekend, everyone!
