Hello, everyone, and welcome back to another exciting chapter of "A Long Distance Ship!" In the last chapter, Ash and his friends had another encounter with Team Magma... and they actually made progress in reaching their goals that only people who have been playing Pokemon Ruby know about... Anyways, this chapter is going to be a bit different as this doesn't cover any particular episode. Instead, this chapter covers the events of the sixth Pokemon film: "Jirachi: Wish Maker". Shout out to Lumious Trainer Zac's "Which Pokemon Films are Canon" video for helping me decide where to put these chapters! Anyways, enough talking, let's get on with the chapter!

Subject: The Millennium Festival

Hey there, Misty. May, Max, Brock, and I are just resting up at a Pokémon Center. We took a little detour from our path to the Mauville City Gym in order to attend the Millennium Festival, which was celebrated to mark the arrival of the Millennium Comet, which only passes by Earth every 1,000 years. We had a good time at the festival, especially Max. During the performance of the Great Butler, Max heard something from a rock that he was holding. He went to investigate during the show, and soon learned from Butler and his assistant, Diane, that inside of Butler's rock was the mythical Pokémon Jirachi, who could apparently grant wishes. In order to awaken the Pokémon, it needed two things: the Millennium comet to pass overhead, and for Jirachi to have a friend. And it appeared that this time, it has chosen Max to be his friend. Max bonded with the Wish Pokémon really quickly, and he even tested if his wishing powers were real… by wishing for a lot of candy (he is only 7). Jirachi granted the wish… by teleporting all of the candy at the festival to the van that Butler and Diane were letting us stay in. Still, Max and Jirachi had a ton of fun together during the festival… but soon Butler's true intentions with the mythical Pokémon came to our attention. You see, Butler was a former member of Team Magma, and he wanted to make a fake Groudon for them (Groudon must be the Pokémon that they are after…). But the only way he could get enough energy to power up the machine to make the Pokémon is to have Jirachi wake up and open his third eye to absorb energy from the Millennium Comet. Diane thought that he was going off the deep end, and agreed to take us to Forina, Jirachi's home. As time went on, Max was upset that the week would soon be over, and how he would be forced to say goodbye to Jirachi. But I reminded him that even when friends are gone, they will always remain with us in our memories and hearts. A good friend left me, and I miss her every day. But… I know we'll always be friends forever! ;) Anyways, we reached Forina… but it turns out that Butler reached it first and captured Jirachi! He got his way and used Jirachi to power his machine… at first… but it turns out the Groudon that he created wasn't a Groudon… but a complete monster who destroyed the landscape and started absorbing all of the Pokémon and humans around us! They even absorbed May and Brock and Diane! The latter made Butler have a change in heart as he really cared about her from a young age. Max didn't trust Butler after all that he put Jirachi through with taking him away from his home, forcing energy out of him, and causing an environmental catastrophe, but Jirachi, being a psychic-type Pokémon, sensed some good in him, and was willing to help defeat the monster that Butler created. And he did so as the Millennium Comet's time above Earth came to an end. Max and Jirachi had a tearful goodbye, with Jirachi wishing to hear the song that May sang throughout the week one last time, an old lullaby her mom used to sing. We all granted the wish for Jirachi, and while Max is still upset about saying goodbye to a friend he will most likely never see again, he is getting better as we get back on the road to Mauville. Butler and Diane planned on staying in Forina together, but agreed to bring us back to town, where we are now. It's been a long week, so we will be heading back on the road tomorrow. Talk to you when I get to the next Pokémon Center.

Hey Ash, I am glad that you all had fun at the Millennium Festival. It sounds like Max had a lot of fun with his new friend. Jirachi may have stayed with him for only seven days, but I have a feeling if it was longer than that, the two of them would end up as close as you and Pikachu or me and Togepi. And it means a lot more that you told Max you still miss me after several months after I left for Cerulean City and you left for the Hoenn region. Anyways, I am glad that you found out some of the mysteries regarding Team Magma's motives, namely what Pokémon they are after in Groudon. But what do they want to do with Groudon is my question. But I am sure what they want to do with Groudon cannot be any more bad than what Butler did with his Meta Groudon. As for Butler himself, I am glad that he realized that what he did was wrong when Diane got devoured (albeit temporarily) by the monster that he made. I wish them both the best, and maybe even wedding bells in the future. ;) I wish you the best on your journey too, Ash. Now get some rest. You deserve it after the week you have been through.

Misty

And that is it for this chapter of "A Long Distance Ship". The eventual reunion between Ash and Misty is drawing ever closer, and the two still miss each other dearly. The day will come eventually, but for now, let's thank those who decided to follow their journeys. After I finished writing the previous chapter, but before I uploaded it, Gfriend favorited and followed the story. I am sorry for not shouting you out in the previous chapter, but thanks for doing it anyways. Teku Dragon favorited and followed the story the day after the previous chapter was uploaded, so thank you very much! And thanks Ian for again leaving a review on the last chapter. Every favorite, follow, and review tells me you care and want me to continue, so keep them coming! I will see you all next time, and have a great week, everyone!
