Chapter 5: The Ghosts of the Manor

Pit continued moving down the hallway towards the room where the static noise was coming from. Ash and Pikachu were rushing to try and catch up to Pit.

Ash- Pit, slow down a bit! Wait for us!

Pikachu- Pikachu!

But as Ash passed this one room that had the door open, he thought he saw someone standing in that one bedroom through his peripheral vision. Ash even thought he heard the sound of a child laughing. When Ash turned to look in that room, he saw what appeared to be a little girl about Bonnie's age standing in that bed room.

Ash- What the…

Pikachu- Pika Pi…?

Pit- Hey Ash, why did you stop all of a sudden?

Ash- How did a little girl get in…

When Ash turned towards the room again, the little girl was gone.

Pit- Uh…what little girl?

Ash- I swore, I saw a child standing in that very room just a moment ago looking right at me!

Pit- I think you're seeing things, Ash. This place must be messing with your head.

Ash- Maybe you're right, Pit.

Then Ash and Pit saw the sun was close to setting through the window in that room.

Ash- The sun has almost set completely.

Pit- Isn't that when the legends say the spooky things in this Old Chateau are supposed to happen?

Ash- Yeah…we better move fast if we want to find Cheryl in time.

Then Ash, Pit and Pikachu continued walking down the halls toward the room where the static noise was coming from. However, Jessie, James, and Meowth were following close behind.

James- I did here this place was haunted, but I didn't think the stories were true!

Jessie- Don't be superstitious, James! The only thing that's haunting about this place are the ghost Poke'mon in this place!

Meowth- I'm still feeling uneasy in here! Like something is going to jump us at any moment…

Jessie- Well, we need to keep moving! We don't want to lose them and miss our chance to capture Pikachu!

As Jessie, James, and Meowth crept down the hallway while trying to make sure Ash and Pit don't notice them following them, James thought he heard a child laughing. When James looked towards this one room, he saw the same little girl that Ash saw earlier.

James- Uh…

Meowth- Hey, what's the hold up here?!

James- There was this little child in that room and…

When James looked back in the bed room, the girl was gone.

James- But she was just…

Jessie- Not you too! Don't let this house's trick get to you, because we want to catch Pikachu before those two realize we're following them!

Then Jessie and Meowth continued down the hallway while James took one last look inside before following after them.

(In the basement of the Old Chateau)

Dawn and Cynthia were still investigating the basement for Cheryl. However, Cynthia was keeping her guard up as she was expecting something to try and jump them from the darkness.

Dawn- You sure something is following us…?

Cynthia- Yes. I saw something moving in the darkness earlier. And it's still following us. However, I think it's best if we don't let whatever it is know we're on to it. I still don't know if it's hostile of not. But I also don't want it to rush us when I drop my guard.

As Dawn and Cynthia continued moving through the basement with each carrying a flashlight, a pair of red eyes could be briefly seen looking at them in the darkness. Just then, Dawn and Cynthia heard a soft moan coming from somewhere in the basement.

Dawn- Hey…that sounded a bit like a Chansey. You think it might be Cheryl's?

Cynthia- Let's check it out.

Then Dawn moved her flashlight down the hallway and found a door that was halfway open. When Dawn and Cynthia shined their flashlight into the room, they found both Cheryl and Chansey lying on mattress in the middle of the room. They were both knocked out, but they appeared to be unharmed. Dawn rushed over to Cheryl and tried to wake her up.

Dawn- Cheryl! Wake up! This isn't the safest place to be taking a nap!

Eventually, Cheryl began to stir from her sleep and so did Chansey.

Cheryl- Huh…Dawn…?

Dawn- Thank goodness! Now we can tell Ash and the others and get out of this creepy place!

Cheryl- Ash is here too?

Then Cheryl and Chansey noticed Cynthia standing behind Dawn.

Cheryl- Isn't that the Sinnoh Champion, Cynthia?

Cynthia- When Ash and Pit mentioned they were looking for a missing Trainer, I figured I'd lend them a hand.

Cheryl- Who's Pit?

Dawn- You know that Ash is part of the Super Mario Brothers' Team that was formed after that nasty god, Tabuu attacked? Pit's another hero from that team. And a handsome angel at that…(sigh)…

Cynthia- But if you don't mind me asking, how did the two of you end up down here?

Cheryl- It's a little foggy in my head…but I remember when Chansey and I tried to find shelter for the night and entered the Old Chateau, something tried to attack us…

Dawn- What it whatever attacked you that brought you down in this dark basement?

Cheryl- No…it was someone else that brought me here…after Chansey and I passed out…they took us here to hide us…

Cynthia- And who are they you're referring to?

Then Chansey looked up and had a scared look on its face as it noticed something at the door behind Dawn and Cynthia. That's when Dawn and Cynthia noticed something was behind them. But when they turned around, they saw what appeared to be a little girl. Only she was pale white and was floating above the ground like a ghost.

Ghost girl- …hello there…

(Back on the second floor of the Old Chateau)

Ash, Pit, and Pikachu entered a darkened room at the end of the hallway. It looked like an ordinary bed room, but there was a television placed in the center of the room. However, the television was on and just admitting static.

Pikachu- Pi…(shivers)…

Ash- Pikachu? You seem scared. It's just a TV.

Pit- A TV…?

Ash- Something wrong, Pit?

Pit- Don't you think it's odd that a television would be right here in this abandoned chateau or even be on in a building that has no running electricity? Also, it's making the same static sound we heard when trying to contact Lady Palutena.

Ash- Hey…you're right, Pit. That does seem strange.

Just then, Pit noticed something behind them and heading towards Pikachu. Pit quickly pulled out his two daggers the make the Palutena's Bow and sliced a net that was about to be launched at Pikachu. Then Pit, Ash, and Pikachu saw Meowth holding a net gun with Jessie and James standing behind Meowth.

Ash- Team Rocket?!

Pikachu- Pika!

Ash- Funny running into you in a place like this!

Pit- They must be the ones behind us getting disconnected with Lady Palutena!

Jessie- What are you talking out, you winged idiot?

Meowth- I'll admit, we followed you into this creepy horror show setting, but the only thing we've done is launch this net gun at Pikachu.

Pit- And how do we know you aren't lying to us?!

Dark Pit's voice- I seriously doubt they're the ones behind this.

Then Ash and Pit saw Dark Pit and Goh standing in the hallway outside the room with the television.

Ash- Goh, Dark Pit?

Goh- Ash, I think we got something much bigger in this mansion that we were originally expecting!

Pit- We know. Something had disconnected us from Lady Palutena's telepathy.

Dark Pit- But I don't think the Three Stodges had anything to do with that.

James- Hey!

Dark Pit- Not even Medusa is capable of doing that. So, there's no way those three would know how to block a goddess' telepathy like that.

Pit- Fair point there, Pittoo.

Then Dark Pit tossed some kind of wet goop at Pit and hit him in the face.

Dark Pit- Don't call me that!

Pit- What was that stuff you threw at me? And why…does it seem familiar…?

Dark Pit- Oh that…it's just some of that stuff the Mankey covered you with that didn't go down the shower drain when you tried to wash it off. I scooped some up and carried it around the entire story just in case you called me Pittoo again.

Pit- Why you…I'm gonna…

Pit was about to attack Dark Pit and Dark Pit was about to fight back, but Ash got in between them.

Ash- Break it up you two! This isn't the time for that now!

Pit- Fine…but this isn't over, Dark Pit! Next Light Vs Dark match, I'm totally gonna kick your ass!

Dark Pit- Bring it, puppet!

Just then, the sun had fully set which could be seen from the window in the room. Now it was night time. But then the static from the television increased in volume until everyone had to cover their ears.

Goh- Who turned up the volume on that television set?!

Dark Pit- No one did! No one even touched it yet!

Then the screen on the television flickered from static to a twisted grinning face. But the face only appeared for a split second on the screen. Sparks of electricity were coming from the television and lightning seem to fill the room.

Meowth- What the **** is going on?!

Spooky voice- Welcome to my humble little home in the middle of the woods! I hope you enjoy your stay…because you'll never leave! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
