Chapter 6: The Dark Rotom
Spooky voice- Welcome to my humble little home in the middle of the woods! I hope you enjoy your stay…because you'll never leave! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Then several wires and other nearby electrical devices were magnetically pulled to that television, acting as a body for whatever was possessing the television. Then the face appeared again on the screen, but flickered over and over, so it wasn't seen each time for very long. But the face looked like it was twisted in pain each time and in different ways. But before Ash, Pit, Goh, Dark Pit, Pikachu, Jessie, James, or Meowth could wonder what that face was or what was happening, a beam of electricity at them and knocked them into the hallway and to the floor.
Meowth- What the hell is that thing?!
Ash- Not sure, but I'm guessing this is what Palutena and Viridi must've felt that gave them a chill earlier.
Ash and Goh got back up.
Ash- Ghost or not, I can't let this thing keep me from finding my friend. Gengar!
Goh- You too, Cinderace!
Then Ash called out his Gengar while Goh called out his Cinderace.
Gengar- Gengar!
Cinderace- Cinde!
Ash- Gengar, shadow ball!
Goh- Cinderace, pyro ball!
Gengar and Cinderace launched their attacks at the possessed TV and knocked it back a bit. But then it fired another electrical beam from its screen. Luckily, Gengar and Cinderace dodged. But then a light arrow struck this strange creature from the right side and knocked it back a bit. It looked over and saw Pit in the corner of the hallway with his Palutena's Bow ready to shoot another light arrow. Then it launched some of the cables attached to its body at Pit, but Pit quickly dodged cut some of the cables with his Palutena's Bow. Dark Pit rushed at it from behind with an Electrodash Arm and smacked it. However, it wrapped some of the cables around Dark Pit's Electrodash Arm and drained its energy.
Dark Pit- What the…
Then it fired an electrical beam at Dark Pit and knocked him into the wall.
Ash- Did you see that? It looks like whatever this thing it can absorb electricity. Sorry Pikachu, but it looks like you'll have to sit this one out. Can't have that thing absorbing your Thunderbolt.
Pikachu- Pi…
Dark Pit- But what about me? I need another weapon since my Electrodash Arm is useless against this guy!
Then Pit tossed Dark Pit a First Blade.
Pit- You can use this, Pittoo. Sorry, but I didn't bring any other weapon along with me.
Dark Pit- This First Blade will have to do. And stop calling me Pittoo! I swear, it's like you call me that on purpose just to piss me off!
Dark Pit fired a shot from the First Blade, but the strange being used the cables to create giant hands to block Dark Pit's attack from hitting the television it was possessing.
Jessie- I don't know about you, but we need to help the twerp get rid of this thing!
James- Are you sure?
Jessie- The sooner we do, the sooner we can go back to stealing Pikachu.
Meowth- Good point.
Jessie- Gourgeist!
James- Yamask!
Then Jessie called out her Gourgeist while James called out his Yamask.
Jessie- Gourgeist, seed bomb!
James- Yamask, shadow ball!
Both Gourgeist and Yamask launched their attacks at this strange thing, but it used the cables connected to the television to block. But then Meowth rushed in and tried furry swipes. However, Meowth's claws did nothing to it, not even scratched the screen on the television.
Meowth- Huh…?
Then a beam of electricity was fired from the television screen as it knocked Meowth to the ground. However, Goh noticed something.
Goh- Hey Ash, did that electric attack it hit Meowth it seemed odd?
Ash- What do you mean?
Goh- It almost seemed like it used…charge beam.
Ash- You mean the Poke'mon move, charge beam?!
Goh- Let's put my theory to the test…
As Meowth was getting back up, it saw the television was about to fire another beam of electricity at him.
Meowth- Oh crap…
But just as the beam was about to hit, Goh threw a poke'ball and called out his Flygon. When the smoke cleared, Flygon was standing between the possessed television and Meowth while remaining completely unharmed.
Goh- So I was right! That means we're actually fighting a Poke'mon!
Pit- Care to explain?
Goh- That electrical attack didn't hurt Flygon at all. Since Flygon is a ground type, electric Poke'mon moves don't affect it. If it wasn't a Poke'mon move, then Flygon wouldn't have been immune to it.
Then gusts of purple wind began to blow from the television and surround the hallways.
Pit- And this move?
Ash- I believe ominous wind!
Just then, Dark Pit grabbed Meowth by the back of his head and held him up like Dark Pit was using Meowth as a shield.
Meowth- Hey! What are you doing?! I don't want do die by taking the blow from this attack!
But when the purple gusts of wind hit Meowth, nothing happened.
Meowth- I'm alive…
Dark Pit- Like how ground Poke'mon are immune to electric moves, normal types like you are immune to ghost moves.
Meowth- You could've warned me about that, Pittoo!
Dark Pit- Call me Pittoo again and I'll shave you! But anyway, Goh it right. Whatever is possessing those electrical devices is actually a Poke'mon of some kind.
Pit- But what kind of Poke'mon?
Ash- It can absorb electricity…perhaps an electric type.
Then Ash heard the sound of someone coming up the stairs to the second floor. When he turned towards the stairway, he saw Dawn, Cynthia, Cheryl, Chansey, and what appeared to be a ghost girl floating above the ground, climbing up the stairs.
Dawn- Ash, Pit! There you are!
Ash- You found Cheryl!
Pit- But who is that little girl floating just behind you…
Dawn- We know everything about this place! We know what happened and why this place is haunted!
Ghost girl- Rotom!
Then the screen on the television was flickering as the face appeared again at the sight of the ghost girl. But then it began to use charge beam again, but Ash and Goh realized what it was trying to do.
Ash- Gengar, ice punch!
Goh- Flygon, dragon rush!
Then Gengar and Flygon struck the possessed television and made it misfire the charge beam towards the ceiling instead. This caused debris from the ceiling to fall towards Dawn, Cynthia, and Cheryl from above. But then something large flew through a window in the foyer of the Old Chateau and quickly rushed towards Dawn, Cynthia, and Cheryl. When the smoke cleared, Ash saw Ho-Oh using protect as it shielded Dawn, Cynthia, and Cheryl from being crushed by the debris.
Ash- Ho-Oh?
Ho-Oh- Don't worry, Master Ash! I've got them! You alright, ladies?
Cheryl- Is that Poke'mon talking?
Ho-Oh- Is there something wrong that I can speak in the same langue as you humans?
Cynthia- No, it's just uncommon for a Poke'mon to be able to speak. Not unheard of, but not common either. So you're Prince Calmly's Ho-Oh that Ash mentioned.
Ho-Oh- Almost makes me want to ask what Master Ash said about me. But anyway…
Then Ho-Oh turned to look at the possessed television.
Ho-Oh- How about you come out of there and face me? Or shall I smash that television you're possessing and force you to come out…Dark Rotom!
Then several sparks of electricity were erupting from the television and the cables attached to it. Then what appeared to be a black Rotom emerged from the television.
Ash- That looks like a Rotom. They have the ability to possess electronic devices, but I've never seen a black one.
Palutena (telepathically to Ash)- That's because it's corrupted, Ash.
Pit- Lady Palutena! You're back!
Viridi (telepathically to Pit)- And me too. Turns out it was that Dark Rotom who was disconnecting the telepathic connection between us. But now that Dark Rotom has exposed itself, it won't be able to block us off again.
Goh- I'm confused. What is going on?
Palutena (telepathically to Goh)- Forgive me. Let's start from the beginning. You see that little girl floating above Dawn and Cynthia? Her name is Cindi and she was Rotom's trainer when she was alive.
Cindi- Huh? Where is that voice coming from and how does it know my name?
Viridi (telepathically to Cindi)- Oh, don't worry about us. We're actually goddesses. Those two angels work for us and we tend to keep tabs on them.
Cheryl- They are right, Cindi was Rotom's trainer, but then Rotom died protecting her from a wild Poke'mon that attack.
Dawn- And that's when she struck a deal with someone to bring her Rotom back to life.
Ash- Please tell me she didn't make a deal with an evil god named Tabuu!
Cynthia- No, it wasn't Tabuu. Cindi told us she made a deal with Hades.
Pit- Can't say that's much better! Hades isn't as dangerous as Tabuu, but he is just as wicked.
Cindi- I pleaded with him to bring Rotom back and he said he used this missing glitch on Rotom.
Palutena (telepathically to everyone)- Actually, Hades used a dangerous force called Missingno to bring her Rotom back, but it ended up corrupting Rotom and turning it into Dark Rotom.
Viridi (telepathically to everyone)- Even before the events of Kid Icarus: Uprising, Hades was being a scumbag. Because of the corruption, Rotom lost control of its powers and began possessing all kinds of electrical devices in the Old Chateau including an oven which caused a fire. The poisonous fumes caused Cindi and a butler in the mansion to suffocate. This is why Cindi is still attached to this world, because she want to return her Rotom to the way it was before. But even as a ghost, she's not strong enough to do that on her own.
Goh- How did you both become so knowledgeable about this all of a sudden?
Palutena (telepathically to everyone)- Actually, Ho-Oh told Viridi and me about this along the way as he was flying to the Old Chateau.
Ho-Oh- I might not be a god, but I have my ways of keeping up to date with all everything going on in all the Poke'mon regions while I was recovering from that fight with Tabuu 1,000 years ago.
Ash- But why did she kidnap Cheryl and Chansey?
Cheryl- She didn't kidnap me. Dark Rotom was about to attack Chansey and me. Cindi was trying to hide me from Dark Rotom.
Cindi attempted to approach Dark Rotom, but Dark Rotom blew her way with ominous wind. Then Dark Rotom began twitching and shaking like a glitch in a computer program.
Cindi- Rotom…why are you acting this way…
Dark Rotom- (ROAR)
Then Dark Rotom tried to launch charge beam at the ghost girl.
Ash- Ho-Oh!
Then Ho-Oh used sacred fire to block Dark Rotom's charge beam.
Ash- I'm sorry about this, but it looks like we'll have to defeat your Rotom to remove this Missingno corruption Hades put on it.
Dark Rotom turned to look at Ash before twitching shaking like a glitch in a computer program again. Once Dark Rotom stopped, it tried ominous wind at Ash.
Ash- Gengar, night shade!
Gengar- Gengar!
Gengar used night shade to block the ominous wind, but Dark Rotom quickly rushed behind Gengar and tried to attack Gengar. However, Dark Rotom was shot with light arrow from Pit's bow and knocked Dark Rotom to the ground.
Ash- Pit?
Pit- I know we're battling a Poke'mon, but this doesn't mean this isn't my fight too.
But then Dark Rotom sank into the floor and an engine sound could be heard.
James- Does anyone else hear lawn mower engine?
Then a black lawn mower emerged smashed upward from the floor and almost ran over Meowth. Luckily, Meowth dodged.
Meowth- Yikes! That was close! But how did a mower get up here?
Then Dark Rotom's face appeared on the black mower.
Dark Pit- Is this part of Rotom's ability?
Ash- Yes. That's what is known as a Mow Rotom. Rotom can possess electronical devices and it can also change its battle moves and type. Rotom can possess a lawn mower to become an electric and grass type and change what moves it can learn.
Then several sharp leaves began to surround Dark Mow Rotom and they were all pointed at Meowth.
Meowth- Like leaf storm! I need to get out of here!
Dark Mow Rotom used leaf storm and launched them at Meowth, Gourgeist, and Yamask. Meowth, Gourgeist, and Yamask got sliced by the leaf storm, but then a sacred fire struck Dark Mow Rotom and melted the mower it was possessing.
Ho-Oh- By turning into a grass type, you made yourself more vulnerable to my sacred fire!
But Dark Rotom was nowhere to be seen from the wreckage of the lawn mower. Instead, a black washing machine with Dark Rotom's face broke right through a wall and into the hallway.
Pit- And this form?
Ash- Wash Rotom, which is electric and water. Probably changed to water to deal with Ho-Oh's sacred fire.
Dark Wash Rotom shot hydro pump at Ho-Oh, but Ho-Oh dodged it.
Goh- Cinderace, double kick! Flygon, dragon rush!
Cinderace and Flygon rushed at Dark Wash Rotom, but Dark Wash Rotom used the giant hose attached to the washing machine to block the attacks. However, a Spiritomb emerged from the floor and struck Dark Wash Rotom with sucker punch.
Goh- Where did that Spiritomb come from?
Cynthia- That's actually my Spiritomb. I've been on the sidelines long enough. Now Spiritomb, dark pulse!
Spiritomb- Tomb!
Spiritomb launched its attack at Dark Wash Rotom and made it back up a bit. As it was pulling itself together, Dark Pit managed to get behind Dark Wash Rotom and slice the washing machine it was possessing in half with the First Blade. Out of the sliced halves of the washing machine came a black microwave with Dark Rotom's face.
Ash- Now it's a Heat Rotom which is a fire type.
Dark Heat Rotom opened its microwave door and launched overheat. Dark Pit managed to roll out of the way. But then Dark Heat Rotom turned towards Pit and used overheat again.
Dawn- Piplup, use whirlpool to shield Pit!
Then a swirl of water surrounded Pit as it prevented the flames from reaching Pit.
Dawn- Don't worry, Pit! Piplup and I got your back!
Piplup- Pip Piplup!
Pit- Wow…thanks for the assistance there.
Dawn began to blush after hearing Pit say that.
Dawn- Wow! Pit complemented me!
Pit returned his attention to Dark Heat Rotom and managed to shoot an arrow into the microwave before it closed its door, destroying the microwave it was possessing. Then Dark Rotom got out of the damaged microwave and tried to find something else to possess.
Viridi (telepathically to everyone)- Ok, I think this has been dragged out for long enough.
Then an electric pulse was launched throughout the entire chateau and shut down all electronic devices in the manor.
Viridi (telepathically to everyone)- There. That should stop Rotom from possessing any more appliances.
Jessie- You couldn't have done that earlier?
Viridi (telepathically to Jessie)- You didn't seem to need any help. However, I feel this is dragging out for too long. So let's just get to the end of it instead of using fillers. Sorry to those who might be upset about no Fan Rotom or Frost Rotom.
Then Dark Rotom got surrounded by a dark aura and it was glitching out more sporadically.
Ash- What's going on?
Ho-Oh- Dark Rotom is resorting to the power of the Missingno to increase its power like how Tabuu's followers use Tabuu's power to boost their strength.
Then bolts of electricity burst from its body and blasted Flygon into the wall.
Goh- Flygon!
Pit- I thought you said electric Poke'mon moves wouldn't affect ground type Poke'mon!
Goh- I did too…but I think this power its using is letting it break the rules now!
Then Dark Rotom fired more lighting, but this time at Ash. But then Ho-Oh jumped in the way and shielded Ash.
Ash- Ho-Oh!
Ho-Oh- Trust me, Master Ash…I've been hit with worse than this…Like Tabuu's Off-Wave.
Then Ho-Oh flapped his wings in front of his body and blew the lightning away.
Ho-Oh- Master Ash, now I believe it the time to strike.
Ash- Ok. Ho-Oh, sacred fire! And Pikachu, Electric type Z-Move! 10,000,000-Volt Thunderbolt!
Pikachu- Pika…CHUUUUUUUUUU!
Ho-Oh- As you command, Master Ash! Sacred Fire!
Then both Poke'mon attack hit Dark Rotom. As Dark Rotom was taking damage, some of the dark aura appeared to be evaporating from Dark Rotom.
Cindi- The corrupting…it seems to be leaving Rotom…
Goh- That means it's working. Cinderace, pyro ball! And Flygon, draco meteor!
Cinderace- Cindi…RACE!
Flygon- Flygon!
Those Poke'mon attack hit Dark Rotom and more of the dark aura seem to leave from Dark Rotom's body.
Pit- Well Dark Pit, looks like it's time for us to add the finishing blow while Ash and Goh of it distracted.
Dark Pit- Agreed.
Then Pit and Dark Pit fired a charged range shot at Dark Rotom with Pit's Palutena's Bow and Dark Pit's First Blade. Those two shots pierced all of Dark Rotom's dark power and caused all the darkness leak right out of its body. Also, Dark Rotom was changing from black to red like a normal Rotom. After all the corruption was gone, Rotom struggled to get back up. But then it noticed Cindi floating just above it and approaching Rotom.
Cindi- Rotom…Rotom, is that really you? The real you and not that corrupted you?
Rotom- Ro…
Cindi- It is you!
Then Cindi wrapped her arms around Rotom.
Cindi- I'm sorry I ever made that deal with Hades to bring you back and hurt you with that dark energy. But I think it's time for us both to move on!
Rotom- Ro…
Cindi- Don't worry…we'll still be together.
Then Cindi turned to look at Ash and Pit.
Cindi- Thank you…for freeing my Rotom and finally ending this nightmare. Now Rotom and I can finally move on and rest in peace…
Then both Cindi and Rotom vanished.
Pit- Uh…what just happened?
Palutena (telepathically to Pit)- Now that Cindi's unfinished business is finished, she and Rotom could finally pass to the next life. Possibly the Overthere.
Ash- Say, where did Ho-Oh go all of a sudden?
Then Pit, Jessie, James, and Meowth looked over Ash's shoulder and suddenly began laughing. As Ash wondered what they were laughing at, he looked behind him and his jaw almost dropped at what he saw. Ho-Oh was lying on his back on the floor while Cynthia was rubbing his belly. Ho-Oh had his tongue sticking out and was panting like a dog while also lifting one leg in the air. And Ho-Oh seemed to be enjoying the belly rub a little too much.
Cynthia- Who's a good phoenix Poke'mon?
Ho-Oh- I am! I am! (Deeper tone) Oh yeah… (normal tone) Right there…that's the sweet spot!
Ash- Cynthia…what are you doing to Ho-Oh?!
Cynthia- I'm sorry, Ash. Ho-Oh is really such a sweetheart, I couldn't resist.
(Eterna City Poke'mon Center)
Ash, Goh, Dawm, Cynthia, and Cheryl had gotten their Poke'mon healed up while Pit and Dark Pit were waiting for them in the lobby of the Poke'mon Center.
Dawn- Am I glade to be finally out of that mansion.
Cheryl- I can't believe you all came just to rescue me and Chansey.
Ash- You're a friend. And as a hero and member of the Super Mario Brothers' Team, it's my responsibility to help a friend in need.
Cheryl- Thanks Ash. And you as well, Pit.
Pit- I also am a member of the Super Mario Brothers' Team and I was with Ash when he heard about you going missing. And since I was there, he asked if I could assist him.
Dark Pit- Actually, the real reason you agreed to come was because you wanted to get your mind off of…
Pit- Dark Pit, please! I promise I will not call you Pittoo for the rest of the story if you don't bring that up!
Dark Pit- Not much that will do, since this is the final chapter and the story is almost over.
Cheryl- I can understand Team Rocket leaving right after since they're usually the bad guys, but why did Ho-Oh leave so suddenly after he dropped us off at the Poke'mon Center?
Ash- I might be Ho-Oh's master after Prince Calmly, but Ho-Oh only comes when he's needed. I don't exactly know how he always manages to know when he's needed, but he always arrives right when I do need him.
Then Ash turns to look at Cynthia.
Ash- But luckily for you, our battle in the Master's Eight doesn't count as needing Ho-Oh. So you won't have to face Ho-Oh when the second round of the Master's Eight starts. But that doesn't mean you'll beat me like you beat Iris.
Cynthia- Looking forward to our match, Ash.
Then Dawn wrapped her arm around Pit's arm.
Dawn- You seemed a little lonely there, Pit. How about a reward for a job-well-done?
Pit- Uh…I think…Lady Palutena might be needing me back in Skyworld now that this is over…
Viridi (telepathically to Dawn)- If you want, I could give you a lift to Skyworld and you and Pit could spend the night together in Pit's room!
Pit- VIRIDI!
Goh- Hmmm…
Dark Pit- Something wrong?
Goh- I can't help but feel like we've forgotten something…
(Back at the Old Chateau)
The kitchen was still dark, but a pair of red eyes could be seen peering through the dark as the silhouette of butler was floating over the table.
The End
Epilogue-
(Bowser's castle)
Eggman, Orbot, and Cubot were in the basement of Castle Koopa and they were cleaning the basement of the castle. However, Eggman wasn't looking too pleased.
Eggman- This is was a great genius like myself has been reduced to? Cleaning that brute's basement while he's raiding Professor E. Gadd's laboratory! I'm telling you, Bowser's working my last nerve!
Orbot- If you don't like it, why do you continue to tolerate it?
Eggman- Because I need Bowser and his team if I want to stand up to Sonic and the rest of those heroes since they've teamed up. Not like I stand a chance against all of those heroes on my own.
Then a ghostly hand briefly appeared and placed a notebook on a stake of boxes. However, Cubot was the only one who seemed to notice before the ghostly hand vanished. Eggman continued using the feather duster Kamek gave him when he accidently knocked the notebook from the stack of boxes and it landed on Eggman's head.
Eggman- OWCH! What the hell?!
Orbot- Doctor…are you alright?
Eggman- I'm fine…but what is this? This book doesn't look like anything I'd expect Bowser to read.
When Eggman opened the book, he see's it contained research notes.
Eggman- James Norbert Robotnik…why does that name sound familiar. Looks like this was his notebook for his experiments. Hello…what is this…
Then Eggman saw something in one of the notes that got his interest.
Eggman- Time Eater…this is brilliant! This James Robotnik certainly is an evil genius like myself! With his discovery, I can undo all of my previous defeats and won't need to endure Bowser's bad attitude!
