The sun shone down on Trunks, unadulterated by clouds or smog as he flew high above the clouds. It was such a nice feeling as he flew above the white land that was the tops of the clouds.
It was as if he had ascended to a whole nother world that he alone traversed.
It had been three years since the destruction of the Androids and the nefarious Cell. Earth had been rebuilding as it always did, and Trunks had been a pivotal part of the rebuilding efforts. Things had turned for the better and stayed that way.
Everything was as it should be, yet Trunks had been feeling a strange chill from time to time, as if someone or something very evil was around. However, any investigation he conducted left him fruitless and without closure.
Needless to say, he didn't like this one bit, as no matter how many times he stretched his Ki sensing across the planet, he came across nothing abnormal. So he had taken to patrolling more often and for longer times as well.
His mother Bulma had caught on to his behavior nigh immediately and worried for him, but there was nothing either of the two could do with their severely limited information. As such, time went by like normal, and nothing out of the ordinary would happen.
That's what made it so disconcerting. The waiting, the constant searching for some unnerving entity that hadn't shown itself to anyone. It was the unknown that worried him the most. Was this another Android? Had he missed some secret enemy?
Trunks grit his teeth in frustration as he flew across the sky in a brisk pace, passing over a city that was mostly rebuilt. Some building still showed the damage those two Androids had caused. A grim reminder that peace never truly lasted.
Descending from the sky and through the white puffy clouds, Trunks landed softly in the grass of a small public park next to a small pond. A flock of some brown birds took to the air a few moments later from their rest in the water, sending a spray all across the pond.
Brushing the stray hairs out of his face, Trunks was about to walk out of the park when a voice behind him startled him.
"Hello" came a polite greeting. The voice was light and almost slippery as voices go.
Turning to face whoever spoke, Trunks was greeted by two alien beings.
One was short with light purple skin. It had a humanoid body with mostly human features besides its long sharp ears and purple skin. It's long white hair was spiked quite like a thick Mohawk. Besides that, it's face was sharp and also delicate. It very much looked frail given its short stature and baggy clothes.
The one standing next to it was quite tall, in fact a good foot taller than Trunks or more. It had a strong physique and a large square jaw. It's hair was long and white, falling past its shoulders. It's skin was a pinkish red, and it was staring disapproving at Trunks.
Both of them wore strange robelike garbs that protruded far out over their shoulders like cloth pauldrons. Also, after a moment of observation, Trunks could see each of the strangers wearing ornate yellow gem earings that must have had significance, given that both sets were identical.
The most strange thing about them is that he could sense no Ki from either of them, despite the smaller one hovering a good foot or more above the ground.
Whoever these strange beings were, they were certianly not normal in any sense of the word.
The small one spoke again, pulling Trunks out of his mind.
"Your spirit is very pure, Trunks. Thats rare in this universe" the short being spoke, giving trunks an approving smile.
Trunks narrowed his eyes and tensed up, ready for whatever sudden attack may come his way.
"Who are you and how do you know my name?" Trunks almost yelled, sufficiently worried about these strange visitors. The fact that he couldnt sense them at all didnt help much either.
"You! How dare you ask for the Supreme Kai's name, mortal" the large one growled, tensing as if he were about to attack Trunks.
"What?" Trunks asked, taken aback by the hostility, eyes widening a bit.
" This is the Glorious Supreme Kai, the God above all other Kais in this Galaxy. Do you not even know who you speak to?" The large man shouted indignantly, and if glares could kill, Trunks would be dead many times over.
"Huh? What? What's a Kai?" Trunks asked, taken aback by the grandiose title and the large man's flourishes.
The large man seemed about to attack Trunks, but the short being now known as the Supreme Kai raised his hand to stop the large man.
"Easy Kibito, Trunks here would not have heard of me" he said with a false modesty, before giving an unnerving smile.
"Now, Trunks" he began while observing Trunks.
"The universe is in danger. No, In fact, all of creation is in danger. We need your help to stop this from happening. So please forgive my agitated attendant, we are both under quite a lot of pressure" the supreme Kai said, his eyes glinting with a sharpness one would only see in those of schemers.
"Wait, the universe is in danger?" Trunks asked, momentarily forgetting his caution.
"Yes. An ancient evil named Majin Buu is about to awake, and we need your help to stop it" the Supreme Kai explained, his tone turning deathly serious.
"You need my help? Why me?" Trunks asked, bringing his hand up to his chest.
"Because you're the only one who is strong enough to help us turn the tide and save the universe. Come with us, We don't have much time left" the Supreme Kai explained, a strong urgency in his voice. He motioned for the young half Saiyan to join him with his hand, trying not to overly worry the young man.
Trunks was rightfully both suspicious and worried, but his emotional side overruled his logical side, and he agreed to come with them. After all, if there really was some ancient evil about to wake on the planet, that would perfectly explain the strange feelings that he had been getting, so he gave these strange beings the benefit of the doubt.
"I'll go with you if it means saving the universe" Trunks replied, walking over to the two.
Two weeks later
A thunderous crack broke the silence above the sacred world of the Kais as a shockwave blew the green grass and beautiful multicolored flowers that dotted the field under the sun. Breaking apart from a grapple in the sky was Trunks, who had narrowly escaped a hold that the Supreme Kai had attempted to catch him with, responding with a flip in the air that led to a dropkick that sent the Kai barreling down towards the fields below, landing with a subdued boom.
Not letting up, Trunks shot down to the field, pulling his fist back and slamming it into where the Supreme Kai was miliseconds before. However, much to the Kai's credit, he had spun out of the way, sending multiple purple balls of Ki the size of small cars towards Trunks that circled around his head, obscuring his vision.
Boom boom boom boom
The balls exploded with loud rumbles, blinding Trunks who tried to sense for the Kai. Then he remembered what the Supreme Kai had said.
"The Ki you use is different to that of mine. I use a power known as God Ki, and Mortals cannot sense it. Focus on your Ki before trying to replicate mine" the Supreme Kai had explained on his second day of training.
Trunks shot into the sky, not wanting to get sneak attacked, only to be blindsided by a cross from Kibito that connected with a loud boom.
Forced back, Trunks recovered and shot below Kibito, grabbing his ancle and throwing him into the sky.
Raising both hands to the sky, trunks began charging his Ki, and Supreme Kai took a shot at him. Appearing right around Trunks's chest, Supreme Kai threw multiple heavy blows at the preocupied Trunks who grunted with the heavy hits. Still, Trunks focused through the pain, sending an explosion of Ki from his body, sending the Supreme Kai flying into the fields below.
Trunks began glowing incredibly bright in a torrent of golden energy that blazed like a wildfire, and his eyes turned bright blue as his purple hair spiked outward and turned a brilliant golden blonde.
Letting out a violent roar, his Ki turned into a dome around him, and a blazing pillar of golden Ki arose from the middle and shot into the sky, slamming into Kibito, who was still recovering in the sky.
Struck by the immense power of the Super Saiyan's attack, Kibito let out a scream as he felt his entire body being torn apart.
"I YIELD" He screamed, and Trunks released his power, the dome dropping, and his beam evaporating.
Kibito fell to the ground defeated, his hair singed and his clothes smoking from the power of the attack.
Supreme Kai got up from the ground and floated up to Trunks, who had let his violent golden aura receede into a calm flicker around him.
"You're amazing Trunks. I don't think we are fit to be your opponents" Supreme Kai said with amazement in his eyes and words.
Kibito who had recovered and flown up to the other two chimed in.
"That is true. Trunks is astoundingly powerful. Perhaps he could Wield the legendary Z Sword?"
Trunks smiled awkwardly and thanked him before the Supreme Kai spoke again.
"Yes, I was just about to say the same".
"The Z Sword?" Trunks asked curiously, dropping out of Super Saiyan.
"It is an immensely powerful sword that has gone unused for many years. Come, let us see if you have the power to wield this blade" the Supremme Kai said, walking over to Trunks, a warm smile on his face. Any traces of the cold calculating Kai that Trunks had first met were long gone.
It seemed in their training, the three had grown close. Even Trunks felt this way. Thankfully, the Supreme Kai had given Trunks ample time to contact his mother telepathically while he was away thanks to some crash course lessons in telepathy.
The three flew to a rather unassuming hill where atop stood a great stone. In the stone, sticking from the top was a long golden hilt with a diamond pommel. A blade was stuck in the stone, and Trunks landed next to it.
"This is the Z Sword. Go ahead, try pulling it out" Supreme Kai offered, and Trunks accepted the offer.
Positioning himself over the sword, Trunks grabbed the hilt and pulled with all of his might.
He grunted with the extreme effort, but the sword did not budge an inch.
Stopping after some time, Trunks was sweating and breathing heavily, yet the sword had not budged.
"Thats a shame" Kibito said, slightly disappointed, about to turn away. Then he stopped as he felt a wind pick up and that same overwhelming power from earlier.
Turning back to Trunks, he saw the Half Saiyan squinting as he grit his teeth and blazing with golden power.
The half Saiyan grunted and growled as he pushed his power to the maximum.
The ground shook and the skies became dark. Still he pulled and forced his body to the limit.
Schrk
The blade moved an inch. A miniscule amount, but it moved nonetheless.
"YOURE DOING IT TRUNKS! THATS IT!" The Supreme Kai shouted in excitement.
Nggh
AAAAARGGHHH
Trunks let out a grunt, and then with the roar of thunder as lightning flashed from the sky, Trunks pulled the Z Sword from the stone.
"You did it!" Supreme Kai shouted with joy, giving Trunks a clap on the back.
"I never dreamed that this would happen" Kibito said, a look of utter shock plastered across his face as he examined the blade Trunks held in his hands.
However, his head snapped to the sky, and his expression turned bleak.
" Supreme Kai, do you feel that?" Kibito asked gravely.
"Yes. Babadi has made his move. Quick Trunks, come with us" the Supreme Kai panicked, grabbing Trunks and Kibito by the hand.
Instantly they found themselves in a vast desert under the hot sun. Large orange rock canyons formed a labarynth beneath them.
Within seconds of their arrival, trunks felt an evil Ki unlike anything before emmiting from the heart of the labyrinth.
Trunks shot towards it with no hesitation.
"Trunks Wai" Supreme Kai couldn't even finish before trunks was gone.
"Damnit, cmon" Supreme Kai growled, a sneer filling his face as he felt the evil Ki. A Ki he would never forget. The demon Yakkon.
Trunks barreled towards the owner of that sickly evil Ki that had sent a shudder down his spine earlier. It was a massive green spotted demon that had long black claws like swords and an elongated froglike body.
Not even stopping to think, Trunks bursted into Super Saiyan and slashed the beast in half, it's two halves falling to the rock below before dispersing into a toxic black smog.
Not even stopping to watch, Trunks turned to the next opponent. A humanoid enemy with white body armor an an elongated purple head. Just as the Supreme Kai had told him about, he saw the M on his forehead and felt the being's evil Ki.
Flashing towards him and releasing a Solar Flare, Trunks drove the Z Sword through the disoriented being's head.
It didn't even get a chance to say it's name before Trunks pulled the sword out of it's face and decapitated it. Evil like these two had no right to live.
The Kais arrived seconds later to see the two corpses on the ground.
Trunks was not playing around.
Turning towards the horizon, Trunks shot into the sky, a burning hatred in his eyes.
He had found Babadi. He had found the true source of the strange feelings he felt and he wouldnt let them awaken Buu.
Flying after Trunks, The Supreme Kai called out, but trunks was way too fast.
Seeing the source of the evil power, a large pink egg the size of a small house, Trunks brought the Z Sword above his head and imbued it with Ki, completely ignoring the small yellow sickly being with a bulbous head next to it. Slamming into it like a meteor, Trunks brought the Z Sword down upon it.
CLANG BOOM
Sword struck sword as a new player arrived just in time and completely blocked Trunks's attack, sending a massive spinning kick into his gut sending him spinning backwards. His spin was stopped when he bored into a nearby canyon, leaving a giant crater in the stone.
Jumping out of the rubble, Trunks barely had time to dodge a slash from a gigantic curved sword held by a giant red demon that looked straight out of a picture book about the devil.
Trunks slashed the Z Sword horizontally towards the demon's head, but with suprising agility, the demon ducked, sending a spinning kick to Trunks jaw, snapping his head back and sending him shooting into the sky.
"Aaagh" Trunks screamed in pain. He hadn't felt pain like this since...since... Cell.
This demon was immensely powerful, rivaling even Cell.
KRACKOOM
A earthshaking double fist slam to the chest by the demon sent Trunks deep into the rocky floor, and as he hit the earth, he spit a massive glob of blood.
The Kais arrived just on time to see the demon slam Trunks into the ground and Kibito winced seeing the cry of pain trunks made as he hit the earth and seeing the blood spray from his mouth.
"You'll have to do better than that, Boy" The demon laughed from above as he readied his sword to impale Trunks who had almost fallen out of Super Saiyan.
Taking matters into his own hands in order to save Trunks, Supreme Kai shot towards Babadi, screaming and sending a barrage of Ki Blasts towards the wizard.
"No you don't" the demon growled, flashing over to block the blasts, sending them flying off into the distance.
The demon grabbed the Supreme Kai by the neck and began squeezing.
Crack Crack
The sound of bones breaking broke the silence.
"NOOOO!" Kibito's desperate cry of rage sounded through the canyon as red energy surrounded him like a vortex, and he slammed viciously against the demon, who let go of the Supreme Kai who dropped to the ground paralyzed from his broken neck and spine.
At that moment Trunks was back in those stormy streets, Gohan's dead body in his hands.
"Trunks, I have faith in you. You can save everyone". The words of his mentor and greatest friend Gohan rang through his mind.
Seeing those that he could not save, all those helpless people, Gohan, and now the Kais. He would not let the android scenario happen again. Not if he could help it.
The ground began quivering.
THOOM
The demon backhanded Kibito, snapping his neck and sending him dead to the floor.
"Trunks, you need to get up" the desperate telepathy came from the Supreme Kai who lay half dead at the demon's feet.
CRACK BOOM CRACK
The sky filled with dark clouds as the ground began shaking and seizing. Lightning and thunder flashed across the sky. Hurricane force winds blew everything away for miles as chunks of the canyon were sent flying.
Rising from the ground as blue lightning danced around his flames of golden energy was Trunks. His musculature had bulked and his hair stood straighter, sharper. In his eyes was doom.
With no warning and no motion, the demon was sent flying into the sky with a resounding boom. It didnt even get the chance to recover before it was sent down into the earth.
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM
Like the thunder around them, Trunks smashed the demon around like a ragdoll.
However.
"I am Dabura, King of the Demon Realm! I will not be defeated by a mere mortal!" The demon screamed, catching Trunks mid strike and returning the blow with one of his own.
CRACKOOM
The demon punched Trunks in the face, sending him flying out into the sky where he quickly recovered.
"Thats all?" Trunks laughed, slowly turning his head back to the enraged demon.
"Cocky huh? Lets see how you do without that sword" Dabura yelled, shhoting towards trunks and spitting five globs of spit on the sword which quickly turned to stone.
Trunks, seeing danger tossed the sword away.
As if time had slowed to a halt, he watched the stone sword fall to the ground and shatter to a hundred pieces.
"NO" the desperate telepathic cry of the Supreme kai rang out too late.
Trunks realized that he had just made a grave mistake, but could not waste time. Turning back to the demon, Trunks was just in time to use his Ki to form a barrier to block a barrage of spit from the demon Dabura.
"I have to end this fast" Trunks growled, and then moved faster than he ever had, and gappled the demon, yanking the curved blade out of his hands in a feat of overwhelming power.
This is for Kibito!" Trunks cried out Spinning upward, Trunks Kicked the Demon up to the sky with enough force to temporarily stun him and as he came down, Trunks raised the Blade and gored him through the heart.
Dabura was dead.
Turning towards Babadi, the wizard fell to the ground in fear as Trunks approached.
Not wasting any time, Trunks swung his sword down at Babadi who put up a feeble barrier that quickly shattered and the giant blade slashed his chest open, and then Trunks blasted him into a blackened corpse.
Rushing back to the Supreme Kai's side, Trunks spoke to him.
" Im gonna get you help. Stay with me ok?" He cried out, holding the Supreme Kai in his lap and telipathically contacting his mother Bulma.
"MOM CAN YOU HEAR ME?" He practically shouted into her mind.
"Trunks! Are you alright?" His mother's worried response came through.
" I cant maintain this link much longer, i need you to go outside and if you see a large burst of energy in the sky, go there asap, no questions asked" Trunks replied before the link shut off.
Bulma ran out of her house and sure enough, with an earthshaking boom, an energy blast erupted in the sky. Sprinting to the nearest truck, Bulma sped off to the location of the explosion, a nearby desert canyon reserve.
After Trunks sent off the Ki blasts, he dropped from his Super Saiyan Two form and collapsed from exhaustion.
Then, something horrible happened.
Babibi, with his last minute of life cast a spell and a portal opened under Trunks, swallowing him up.
Trunks was gone, and Babadi finally died.
Five minutes later, Bulma arrived in her truck, coming across the wreckage.
On deaths door, the Supreme Kai telepathically called out to Bulma who had just begun searching the area for help.
Bulma who was a lot more suspicious and less trusting than Trunks demanded an explanation.
With little time left, knowing he was going to die, Supreme Kai telepathically explained everything that happened for one last time. Then, his eyes shut one final time as the life left the Supreme Kai, leaving Bulma with nothing but anger and the giant dormant egg.
