"I take it you both had fun," Alexis asked dryly.

Alexis eyed them both. "Who won?"

Kate was the first to reply. "We called it a draw."

"I'm glad the two of you were having so much fun. I had to eat out. I had to walk and go into a local restaurant alone. I had steak, and it was delicious."

Rick finally spoke up. "Steak?"

Alexis continued to rub it in. "It was a T-bone, if you must know. And I had a piece of cheesecake for dessert."

"And I missed it," Rick moaned, believing her.

"The place was called Fire, and it's right over there. Easy walking distance. I enjoyed it." Alexis was done with rubbing it all in and stalked off, leaving them standing in the kitchen.

"She had steak!" Rick looked at Kate, who just stood there sipping her blood. "I want steak." What Kate had said dawned on him then. "Wait, you told her we had sex?"

"Relax, she already knows we're having sex." Kate used her finger to get every last drop of blood. Then she put her cup on the sink. "Love you." Kate kissed him and left him standing there.

"My daughter knows we're having sex?" Rick focused on that still.

Kate caught up to Alexis. "Did you really eat out and have steak?"

"I did, and it was delicious."

A look of shock came over Kate's face. "No, we didn't. You don't think..."

"We'll find out in about a month or so."

"Pregnant. I'm not ready to be pregnant. I'm not even married yet." Kate was freaking out.

"The married part we can fix. Just get Dad to ask you, or you can ask him."

"I'm not ready to get married, either. Oh, this is bad, so bad." Kate was still freaking out.

"That's easy for you to say. You're not the one that's pregnant."

"So what if you are? It's not the end of the world. Besides, we don't know that you're pregnant. We'll just have to wait."

"Wait, yeah, I'll have to wait. What if I am pregnant? I can't go to a hospital. They'll find out that I'm a vampire."

"What did your mother tell you about when she had you?"

Kate thought about that. "Not much. All that I remember is that she didn't use a hospital. But she had my dad to help her."

"And we'll help you if or when the time comes, so just relax."

"Relax, relax," Kate told herself and tried to relax. "I'm relaxed." She said that even if she wasn't. She really was freaked out.

Kate caught up to Rick and poked him. "YOU GOT ME PREGNANT!"

"You're pregnant?"

"Well, I could be pregnant. I won't know for certain for a month, maybe a little more, but you got me pregnant."

"So, you don't know if you're pregnant yet. Do you want to get married?" Rick's mind automatically flew to getting married if she was pregnant.

"NO, I don't want to get married." Kate blinked. "Can we even?"

"You don't know if you're pregnant, and you don't know if you want to get married. Is there anything you do know?"

"I don't know. It's all happening too fast. I can't wrap my mind around it. I'm a vampire, a pregnant vampire. Maybe a pregnant vampire," she amended. "Do I want to get married? I don't know."

"Come here." Rick motioned for her to come to him, but he went to her, embraced her, and held her tight. "If you're pregnant, we'll deal with it. If you want to get married, I can make that happen."

Kate let him hold her and began to feel better. Listening to him, she felt better about possibly being pregnant. "Maybe." She meant maybe about getting married. But only if she was pregnant.

Kate didn't leave Rick for the rest of the day. She didn't follow him into his bedroom to make love to him. She was still recovering from making love to him all day. At least her clit didn't hurt any longer.

Kate nodded and walked away. She still didn't know what he was doing.

Kate stumbled onto Rick later that day. "Where have you been?" She watched in surprise as he got down on one knee and held a ring up to her.

"Katherine Beckett, I love you, and you love me. Please marry me and make me a happy man."

Kate was taken aback and didn't know what to say. She was shocked into silence. Finally, she answered him. "I can't marry you. I'm a vampire, and you're not. Please understand."

"Vampire, shwampire. You're a woman, a pregnant one. Please marry me," Rick asked her again.

"I'll make you a deal. IF I'm pregnant, you can ask me again."

Rick thought about that. If she wasn't pregnant now, she could be in the future. He could make it a certainty by not using a condom. "Deal." He got to his feet. "Until then, please wear the ring." He took her hand and slid on the ring.

Kate looked at it. She liked the idea that she was married. "It's big."

"You just have slender fingers." Rick wrapped his arms around her while she put her arms around his neck, and he kissed her.

"Hi, Mrs. Castle." Rick survived her glare and even smiled before kissing her again.

Alexis was sitting up on the Fly Deck when Kate joined her and sat down. "I found Rick."

"Did he tell you where he went?"

"No, he didn't, but I know what he did while out." Kate showed Alexis her hand.

"DAD PROPOSED!" Alexis grabbed her hand and looked at the ring. "And you said yes."

Kate corrected her. "I said maybe."

"Come again?"

"I told him no, but if I was pregnant, to ask me again."

"If you're pregnant, you'll say yes." Alexis watched her nod. "Well, get ready to be pregnant. MOM." Alexis saw the look on Kate's face and started laughing.

Kate yanked her hand back. "You think you're so funny."

"If you're pregnant, you'll hear a lot of it, so I'm just trying to get you used to it."

"We don't know if I'm pregnant."

"Not yet, but it won't be long until we know."

"I'm sorry I came up here." Kate got up and headed downstairs.

"Whatever you say…MOM!" Alexis yelled after her and laughed even more.

The day finally came. Their five months were over, and it was time to move to Monaco. It was going to take them a week to reach it. But they had one thing to do first.

Rick and Kate took a taxi to a local hospital. "I'll wait here. Stay safe." He gave her a quick kiss for luck.

She was only gone about fifteen minutes, but for Rick, it felt more like an hour. "How did it go?"

"They must have just received a delivery, and I got six bags. I couldn't get in the refrigerator unit and had to hypnotize the right person to unlock it. Then once I was done, I sent them on their way after they locked it up again."

"Six, nice work." Rick was happy.

They made it back to the boat, and while Kate stored her new bags of blood in the refrigerator, Rick and Alexis were up on the Fly Deck, taking the boat out of the marina.

Alexis sighed a little. "Goodbye, Barcelona. You were so much fun."

"Sara set a course for Monaco, specifically the Monaco Hercules Harbor," Rick asked her.

"Course set, Rick," Sara responded.

They weren't using power and were using sailing when Kate joined them.

Rick smiled at her. "We're on our way."

Kate touched her stomach as she sat down. Her stomach was still flat, but she was looking forward to a baby now. It hadn't taken long for her to feel ready to be pregnant.

She looked over at him. "How long will it take us?"

"About a week. What concerns me is whether four weeks is enough notice to get a good spot," Rick said. "Cross your fingers that they have room for us."

Alexis turned her focus on Kate. "So, are you pregnant yet?"

"No."

"Not yet, you mean."

Alexis grinned mischievously. "I'll leave the biting to you."

Kate glared at her before asking, "So, are we celebrating your birthday?"

Instead of Alexis replying, it was Rick who spoke up. "Yes, we're celebrating her birthday. I have everything all planned. I even bought what we'll need."

Alexis was more than a little surprised. "Since when?"

"I was sneaky," Rick smirked. "You're turning seventeen, almost an adult. So far as I'm concerned, that's another milestone, so we're celebrating your birthday."

She looked at her dad. "Is there cake?"

"I got you an ice cream cake and a present."

Kate spoke up. "I bought you a gift, too."

"When did you do that?" Alexis didn't remember her leaving to buy her anything.

"Not telling."

Alexis caved. "Fine, we can celebrate my birthday."

"Darn right, we're celebrating your birthday. Every birthday is special. Ask Kate."

"Better not ask me. I was a vampire when I turned seventeen. I went out and bit someone."

"Forget that," Rick said hurriedly, "but we are celebrating."

She didn't stay long. She got up, dressed, and went upstairs to the Fly Deck. They were running on autopilot, meaning Sara was doing the navigating.

"I want Rick to ask me to marry him. Is that weird?"

"Not if you love him," Sara replied.

"But I do love him. I even want to be pregnant. I'm a vampire and want to be pregnant – with a human. Is that odd?"

Sara didn't have an answer for her and so remained silent.

Kate sat there and thought about it. She touched her stomach but didn't feel a bump. It was far too early to tell. Was it odd that she wanted to be pregnant? That she wanted to be married? She was a vampire, and Rick was a human. She bit humans. Still, it felt right.
