"They'll be just fine, I promise." I opened my eyes, looking for something to look familiar. "Look who is up!" The medic said, causing Shang to turn in my direction, smile and sit beside me. "Hey princess. How are we feeling?" I laid my head on his chest. "Fine… I guess… Just a little headache, dizzy, nausea. Not so much lightheaded." I confessed. "Well, it's not a perfect response… But it's one we can live with." Shang said, kissing my head. "I'm going to give you two a moment. I'll be back in about 15 minutes to check the bandages." He left, leaving me and Shang alone. "Okay, Spill Mulan! Did you really think that stunt you pulled was wise?! I could've lost you and the baby!" I pulled back, tears in my eyes. "It wasn't wise, I'll admit it and freely… But… I didn't want to lose our friends or you because some sick bastard wanted to kill his majesty…" I felt the tears cascade down my cheeks. Shang gently whipped them away.

"Oh honey…" Shang whispered. "Just next time, let me know what you're planning before you do something like that." I said "That's a promise." He smiled, as he moved the bangs from my face. "I'm sorry I did that. I didn't want to scare you... I wanted to protect you..." Shang said "I know sweetie." He gently kissed me, which is when I gently deepened the kiss. We were oblivious to the tent fap opening until we were interrupted by a clearing of a throat, causing us to jump apart. "Sorry... But I need to check your wound..." Shang said "I'll step out, while you do that unless, Mulan you want me here?" I said "Don't go." The medic quickly checked the wound. "Okay, so, let's keep her resting as much as she can, is that possible?" Shang said "It shouldn't be a problem, the only thing is when she's riding..."

The medic said "I wouldn't recommend it, but seeing as it's unavoidable, I just say try not to use your injured arm, if possible." I looked to Shang who said "Yeah, of course..." Shang said "I can make a make-shift sling for her, if that would be helpful?" The medic smiled and said "That would actually be perfect. I'll leave you to rest now." He left as Shang said "He'll probably want his tent back, so I'll go get mine set up. Okay? Don't worry, you can take the bed roll." I nodded. About 20 minutes later Shang re-entered. "Hey, let me help you." He helped put his cape around me and into his tent.

"Excuse me captain Li?" Chien Po's voice said as he entered. "Oh gosh! I'm so sorry!" He looked down as I pulled the blanket over me. "I didn't mean..." Chien Po started. "It's alright... You didn't know... Just promise you'll keep the secret..." I started. "Don't worry. Your secret is safe with me. I'm just glad it wasn't more awkward." Shang said "Thanks, and yes, us too." We ate the food Chien Po brought. "Try and sleep... I'll be back." Shang said as he cleaned up, and I laid down.

"We'll make camp here for tonight." "Whoa, back it up!" I heard Chi-Fu's voice. "I'm in charge of this regimen, not you. Which means I decide what we do, and it's just one night. One of our own is injured." Shang replied, before he reentered the tent. "Hey... Everything okay?" I asked, as he crawled in beside me, wrapping me in his arms. "Yeah, Now sleep." We cuddled close and fell asleep.

In the morning, I woke, all snuggled up in Shang's arms still, okay well I thought they were, until he started shaking me gently. "Good morning..." I said sitting up slowly. "Ugh... My head..." Shang frowned. "Do you feel lightheaded again? Or Dizzy ? Or nauseous?" He asked. "I'm not sure, I think it's a combination of all three..."

"I'm sorry sweetie, What can I do to help?" I said "Nothing, I'll be okay." Once I finished getting dressed, he tied my bad arm, up in a makeshift sling using his spare cape. "There. It's not perfect, but it's a temporary solution. Here..." He handed me a protein bar. "Try eating this before we go, Chi Fu's going to prevent you from eating again. The bastard." I took the protein bar and ate it. "Thank you so much." I whispered, as he smiled and nodded. "Of course." We dismantled our tent, Okay, well Shang did while I petted Khan. "Fa Ping." I heard Yao's voice, causing me to half turn. "What...?" I asked.

"Is everything alright? Do I need to get the captain?" He asked, which is when I ducked my head. "No... Don't bother the captain, please... He has enough to worry about..." I whispered. "Who has enough to worry about?" Shang asked. I looked up, and said "You... I didn't want yo..." "Captain, I don't think Fa Ping is feeling well... I don't think we should travel today..." Shang's eyes met mine, as Chi Fu came over. "No, we are not delaying our meeting with his majesty due to him!" I cleared my throat and said "I assure you, I'm well enough to travel." I looked up to Shang, as if to ask him to agree with me. "He's right. He's fine enough to travel." The other two men, walked away, Yao looking skeptical. I breathed a sigh of relief before turning towards Shang. "Thanks for that."

"Of Course. But is everything really, Okay? You don't look like you feel well...Is it because of your injury, or is it the other thing?" Shang asked. "Shang, it's the other thing, you know the thing we can't talk about in the open air. Okay? But we do need to get back on the road, we can't afford to delay our meeting with his majesty any longer. I already feel bad we delayed it this long." Shang said "Well if you're sure... But I want you to return home as soon as the ceremony is over. Okay? I'll come to you in a few day's time." I said "Are you sure? And may I make a tiny request?" Shang said "Yes to both."

"Can... Can... we get married before I head home? You know with the... Cherre bud on board..." Shang grinned and said "Of course honey. I was going to ask his majesty anyways." "Thank you." We got to the palace, and got through the ceremony, and Shang and I got married in secret, with his majesty officiating. We disclosed my secret to him. Shang and I were in the stables getting my horse. "I'm sorry I can't join you, honey... I wish I could..." I smiled as he kissed my lips lightly. "You'll be with us soon, and we cannot wait for it." I whispered.

"Hey If you have any troubles when you get home... I want you to turn around and come to this address." He tucked an address in my pocket. "Okay?" I nodded and said "I will." Once we exited the stables, he helped me onto my horse, and I rode off. It took about a 6 hours to reach my hometown but given the fact I stopped to throw up on the way it took a little longer. By the time I arrived, it was dinner time, so I quickly got Khan settled. "WHO ARE YOU!?" I heard a voice, my younger brother, Jai. I turned slowly, and saw not only Jai, but Bai, his twin sister. "It's me. Mulan..." I whispered. "Get out. Traitor." Jai said, as I gently walked past them. "I'm going to see mama and baba." Just then Mother and father were in the door frame. "Leave." They ordered. "Why are you both acting like this?" "You betrayed us!" My father ushered me to the gardens. "Baba, I did it..." But his cane whacked my eye. "Ow." I moaned in pain. "LEAVE NOW!" I walked unsteadily to the barn and got on Khan before riding off.

By the time I arrived at the Li's residence, and took Khan to the barn, my eye was swollen shut. "I'm sorry buddy..." I whispered, as I took care of him. "I'll check on it ma!" I heard a male voice, before it entered. "Hello? Who's in here?" "S... Shang?" I whispered, as the footsteps drew closer and closer. "Mulan. Thank go... WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!" He said, gently touching my cheek, and gently inspecting my eye. "Don't touch... please..." "What happened. You need to tell me right now." I took a deep breath and said "I..." Shang wrapped an arm around my waist. "Hey easy. Did your father do this?" I nodded. "I don't even know what happened... I thought we were going to just be civil and talk it out... but he swung his cane and hit me in the eye..." I whispered. "Damn. It's really swollen. Come on honey, let's get you to our room, and I'll get cold compresses, for your eye." I nodded, letting him lead me off.

Once in his room, I sat on the bed. "Damn it, you're reall8y unsteady on your feet..." "Gee. Thanks." I said sarcastically, which caused Shang to kiss my head. "I'm sorry baby. Just try to rest here, Okay? I'll be right back." He left and came back with a cold compress. "Let me." He placed a cold cloth over my eye. "I didn't feel safe... so I came here... Like we planned..." I said, uncomfortably. "I'm sorry honey..." Shang said, gently, and kissed my head, before I said "It is what it is." Shang said "No Honey. Do you want me to do something? This shouldn't have happened... You're my wife, and I don't like the fact you left with a bad arm, and came back with a bad arm, and swollen black eye. I made a promise to you, to keep you safe, and I might not be able to keep it..."

I took a deep breath and said "As much as I want him to pay, I don't want you to get in trouble..." Shang kissed my head, and said "I don't think defending my wife, would be grounds for me getting into trouble, now do you?" "Maybe not, but..." Shang said "I asked for a week leave, to spend with you. Maybe we can go talk to your parents together tomorrow?" I said "I don't know if it'd be a good idea... But as long as I have you at my side, I'll be Okay." Shang smiled and said "Then it's a plan. Now, you look exhausted." He helped me change before he changed and laid beside me, pulling a blanket over me, while I curled up into his chest. "Sleep now, dear. I'll keep you safe." I drifted asleep in his arms.
