Author's Notes: The Dragonborn is an unashamedly OP character. To insert said character into the world of ASoIaF is akin to sending an AK47 back in time. Especially with the skills and magic, he has at his disposal. Not to mention the Thu'um.
That said, I do hope you enjoy this little story of mine. I've been playing a lot of Skyrim and Elder Kings 2 lately, so my muse has been bugging me for quite a while now.
Also, the update for my other story is being worked on. It's that I'm still spending time in CK3 and Skyrim. When people say that Skyrim belongs to the modders, I can't help but believe them.
In any case, enjoy.
Erik Stormcrown had lived a long life. From living on the dredges of the Imperial City to becoming the High King of Skyrim, Erik had done a lot throughout his time as Dragonborn. Even though his early life was fraught with scorn and danger (being a half-Altmer, half-Nord could do that to you.) Erik wouldn't change it for the world.
From almost seeing his head chopped off due to a misunderstanding to seeing Helghan burned to ruins by a dragon long thought to be dead and escaping underground alongside Ralof to Riverwood. And to think that'd be how he was introduced into Skyrim. Alas, it seemed the Divines sought to bless him with fortune as he soon turned to be the Dragonborn prophesied to kill Alduin, the World Eater.
Then there he went, enjoying life as he went on to numerous quests and adventures that were bound to be put into whole volumes of books. Though, the amount of political bullcrap he had to handle was not worthy of songs and skalds, especially when dealing with the Civil War that plagued the region while trying to murder an overgrown reptile with a penchant for wanting to rule the world.
Still, somehow, he managed to pull it off: creating a ceasefire to focus Skyrim's efforts on ensuring Dragons wouldn't be able to rule the world once again and ensuring Erik to kill Alduin. Then when Erik was able to kill Alduin, has dedicated himself to ending the Civil War by joining the Imperial Legions and, after thousands of casualties from both sides ending the Civil War by personally decapitating Ulfric Stormcloak's head.
Then came the rebuilding of the Empire's most vital region, one that the Empire desperately needed as the Second Great War loomed ever closer. Of course, he didn't join that, instead focusing on ending other world-ending threats, such as stopping the Harkon's ambitions or stopping the First Dragonborn from stepping into Solstheim.
And to think all of what he did upon settling in Skyrim was done in a year. The Divines does have a sense of irony.
Erik has garnered many friends throughout his lifetime, his Housecarls throughout Skyrim, Serena, the Ebony Warrior, J'zargo, and Sven. Of course, the love of his life, Elisif. Ironically, his marriage to Elisif allowed him to be a candidate for High Kingship. To no one's surprise, the Jarls of the land anointed him as the High King of Skyrim, which Erik begrudgingly accepted, despite being a half-Altmer. Though, with the number of good deeds he'd done for the Jarls and with him being half-Nord, they'd seemingly decided to ignore that part of his blood.
So, for years, Erik's reign was marked by rebuilding the damages done to Skyrim and preparing its people for the upcoming Second Great War. One to which he's dedicated the latter half of his reign, acting as the overall High Commander of Skyrim's Imperial Legion.
Suffice it to say that the Second Great War was more devastating than the first one. Tons of cruelty was done by the two sides, with Erik doing his best to limit the anger of the Nords towards the Altmers to mixed success. It also lasted longer than the first, as the war lasted for over two decades, culminating in the invasion of the Summerset Isles.
The Thalmor, for all their nose-snotted arrogance, were supremely powerful. This was shown when they almost summoned Mehrunes Dagon back to Nirn, with Erik almost ruining his throat and his ability to speak with how much Thu'um he'd unleashed upon the Thalmor.
Thankfully, he'd managed to stop their idiotic plans at the last moment lest he'd find the world he was living in be brought to ruin. His role in ending Thalmor rule upon the isles had brought him more burdens, as the aging Titus Mede II named him the High Lord-Governor of the Summerset Isles, tasked with bringing the Summerset Isles to its pre-Second Great War conditions and thoroughly rooting out Thalmor influence and ensuring that an organization similar to the Thalmor would not arise again.
As the High King of Skyrim and High Lord-Commander of Summerset Isles, Erik didn't have much time relating to his family. It also didn't help that Elisif died due to the remnant of Thalmor's assassinating her when she visited the Summerset Isles, leaving him and his two children alone.
Despite that, his two children grew up to be fine young men, with his oldest managing the lands that Elisif had left behind around Solitude and his youngest helping him coordinate the rebuilding efforts within the Summerset isles. Both of them brought Erik immense pride and joy.
And so it was that for over one hundred and fifty years, Erik reigned over Skyrim, his Altmer blood extending his life beyond the lifespan of an average Nord. The lands of Skyrim prospered under his reign: the Five Hundred Companions of expanding beyond Skyrim, the College of Winterhold regained its lost prestige, and much more.
Alas, the march of time doesn't stop for anyone, even immortals and powerful beings. And so, at 4E 351, Erik Stormcrown, the Last Dragonborn, Founder of the Stormcrown Dynasty, High King of Skyrim, High Lord-Governor of the Summerset Isles, Jarl of Solitude, Harbinger of the Companions, Guildmaster of the Thieves Guild, Arch-Mage of the College of Winterhold, Imperial General of the Empire's Legion, the Elf-Bane, and the Savior of the Empire, peacefully passed away in his sleep.
But it wasn't the end of Erik's story. As he felt his consciousness slip away from his bed, his entire family watching him peacefully pass away, his two sons firmly gripping both his hands, he felt foreign words intrude upon his head.
"You have done well, my Laat Dovahkiin. As for your service, I shall send you to another world. One where you could peacefully enjoy your rest. Take care."
And so, as Erik's eye's closed for the last time, his soul was banished into another plane of existence, as Akatosh could only grin in satisfaction as the local gods within the said plane of existence screamed bloody murder and cried foul.
The first thing that Erik noticed was that it was too bright.
Wasn't Erik supposed to be in Sovngarde? He promised Elisif he'd meet her there when she died, and to see himself not in Sovngarde gives Erik a bad premonition.
As his eyes began wandering around, the grey ceiling indicating that he was not in Sovngarde, he felt being lifted. Despite his Altmer blood, Erik's body was sculpted to look like an average Nord. And to have himself lifted was giving Erik a feeling of dread.
Meeting the face of a rather beautiful woman, with silver-gold locks of hair flowing and violet eyes greeting him, the sense of dread that bubbled upon Erik's stomach churned even further.
"&*$#," The woman said to him before being given to a lady, this time, the woman looking like a Nord yet having the same color of eyes the woman had.
"&*$ # #*:%&*$ # #*:%&*$ # #*:%, &*$ # #*:%," The woman said to Erik before seeing the woman lightly slip her garment, revealing a bust. And as Erik felt his embarrassment grow, there was only a single thought within Erik's mind.
'Fuck. I've been reincarnated. I'm betting my thousands of Septims that Sheogorath had a hand in this.'
Erik was currently a six-year-old child, and to be honest with himself, Erik was doing better than he was during his first life. At least he's living in a castle and not on the streets.
Still, it seems the Gods have a sense of humor in that he was born royalty, despite his bastardry.
Yes, he was a bastard of the current King of the Seven Kingdoms, Jaehaerys, the First of His Name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men. As to how he was conceived? The story is that in his grief of losing Aegon, his father became very drunk one day and bedded a Northern servant.
Now, it's rare to find his father becoming drunk. His time living under Maegor's reign has convinced his father to drink alcohol in moderation due to how much Maegor drank alcohol.
Regardless, when his mother took herself to King's Landing to petition his acknowledgment as his father's son, the court was shocked as Jaehaerys recognized his mother and acknowledged Erik as Jaehaerys' child.
Safe to say that the relationship between Jaehaerys and Alyssane was soured. It didn't help that Daenerys, his half-sister, was born at the same time as Erik's birth.
Nonetheless, Erik was very privileged despite his bastardy. As one of the few Targaryens left, he was granted a lot of freedom as his father usually left him alone, with his stepmother glaring at him every time he'd pass by her. The Grand Maester Elysar, a genial, kind man, is the one that's teaching him what he needs to know.
Erik could feel his blood churn with excitement, the adventurer within him wishing that he was already man grown and to allow himself to wonder Westeros and Essos. With a history stretching as far back as eight-thousand years, there's bound to be a lot of artifacts, caves, and untold mysteries waiting to be told once more.
There's also Valyria, the former home of House Targaryen and the Lands Beyond the Wall to discover. Erik can't wait to grow up and adventure without worry again!
Alas, he'd need to postpone that arrangement as the Shivers seems to bring misery upon the entire continent.
What's the Shiver, you may ask? Well, it's a disease that re-enacts what it feels like to experience having a Frost Dragon blasting its ice breath upon a human.
Thousands of people, regardless of them being smallfolk or nobility, died from the Shivers. And it seems that House Targaryen is about to experience a similar fate.
Her half-sister Daenerys was afflicted with the Shivers a few days past. Despite having the resources of Six Kingdoms and all of its brightest minds coming together to heal Daenerys of the disease, every medical method available didn't work as the Shivers remained upon Daenerys.
Already, funeral pyres are being readied, with his stepmother locking herself upon her quarters due to grief and his father drowning himself through overworking. Many in the kingdoms were already consolation letters telling his father of the pain of losing a child despite Daenerys still clinging on to life!
Erik refuses to accept Daenaerys' death that easily. He was the Arch-Mage of the College of Winterhold, and despite the numerous spells in his arsenal that could render death and destruction upon his enemies, his most favored skills were spells that could treat ailments, illness, and diseases.
Besides, Erik loves Daenerys. Not sexually, but in a sibling manner. She and Elysar were the only ones in the castle that treated him nicely. He didn't have a sibling growing up as he was an orphan, and to have your sister, despite being born from another mother, die when he has the power to change it? Erik refuses to accept that result.
And so, after skillfully utilizing his previous skill as a thief and using the Muffle spell to silence his footsteps, Erik manages to reach his sister's room. Thankfully, it seems that his sister's room was left unguarded, probably because everyone in the castle was already considering Daenerys dead.
Quietly opening the door, Erik quietly walked toward her bed, not wanting to disturb her slumber. Erik's heart wrenched in agony as she saw Daenerys' form, her body shivering even though the room was filled with many candlelights, the room shining like a star in the sky.
Still, the bright smile she gave Erik was a reminder that Daenerys deserves to live. No child deserves to die, especially when they're but an innocent being.
"Is t-t-that you, e-e-Erik?" Her sister asked. Erik nodded as he inched closer to Daenarys, clasping her shivering hands upon his own.
"It is me, sis." Erik intoned as he gave her a smile, to which Daenerys reciprocated. Silence lingered in the room as Daenerys' eyes began to water up as Erik clasped their hands harder.
"I-i-i don't wanna d-d-die, Erik. I wanna s-s-see muna and k-k-kepa, Erik." Dae said as her eyes remained locked upon his.
Erik smiled at her beloved sister before pouring every ounce of his Magicka onto his hands, shimmering light enveloping Daenarys as she began to be healthy once more, her erratic breathing calming down as the cold afflicting on her body began to rid itself on her body.
As the spell finished, Erik looked to Daenerys, who was giving him a tired yet awed look: her eyes darting back between his hands and his eyes. He could also see that her skin now is healthy, compared to when she had the Shivers. Thank the Divines that the spell had worked. He feared that his magic spell wouldn't work, given how new it was when Erik developed it.
The fact that his Disrupt Disease spell worked on Daenerys means that it could potentially work on other diseases. Further testing must be conducted for him to know more, but for now, he's rather jubilant that it worked on Dae.
"Are you okay now, Dae?" He gently asked as Daenerys nodded at his word.
"What was that, Erik? Was that magic?" Daenerys asked with the energy of a six-year-old as her grip on Erik's hands tightened.
"Yes, it was magic. But, can you keep it a secret, sis? I don't want the bad people to take me away like what happened to people during bad Maegor's reign." Daenerys nodded, remembering the lessons that she and Erik learned when Elysar taught them during Maegor's reign.
"Okay, Erik. It'll be our secret." Erik sighed in relief as Daenerys nodded in agreement. If there's something that Erik could trust are the words of children.
"Thank you, sis. It means a lot to me that I have your trust. In any case, sleep for now. You'll need your energy if you like to surprise kepa and your muna when you barge into their room, being healthy and the like." Daenerys giggled at Erik's words, giving Erik an internal sigh of relief.
Unbeknownst to him, a certain feeling had developed in young Daenarys' hearts due to Erik's actions.
And unbeknownst to him, a Queen of the realm noticed Erik leave Daenarys' room, her disdain for the bastard son of his husband changing to forgiveness and mercy upon entering Daenarys' room and seeing her healthy condition.
