The night before the goblins held a campfire, Piglet and Gopher found themselves sitting at the far end of the camp watching the terrifying scene before them.
"Jafar wants that Ring, think of the reward one of us could get if we were the ones to personally deliver it to him," they overheard one of the goblins saying.
"They must think we have the Ring," Piglet whispered to Gopher who gently kicked him in the shin.
"The moment they get an idea we don't, they will search and find we don't, we're dead," he hissed. That's when one goblin approached them.
"Well, it looks like I've been assigned guard duty on the two of you, and don't try anything funny, or I'll tickle you with this," he warned them as he drew out a dagger. He smiled hideously but then fell sideways. Piglet and Gopher then saw arrows raining down on the camp. They could hear the sound of hooves hammering nearby.
"Quick Piglet! I can grab the dagger; we'll cut our bonds and make a run for it!" hissed Gopher. He and Piglet crawled over to their guard's fallen dagger, which was difficult with their hands bonded. Gopher carefully rubbed the ropes around his wrists against the sharp part of the goblin's dagger cutting them free, then he cut the bonds on Piglet's wrists.
"Quick, into those woods, we should be safe there!" Gopher instructed his friend, the two of them ran into the nearby forest looking over their shoulders. They saw the battle going on, but worse, they saw another goblin whose name they had overheard was Grishnakh chasing after them!
"You get back here right now!" he snarled as he chased them into the forest. The two friends ran as fast as their little legs could carry them. But Grishnakh was faster and it didn't take long for him to catch up with them. But as if by some mercy of heaven, a tree seemed to uproot itself and stomp on him! This caused Piglet and Gopher to stop running and look at their savior. They saw the tree start from the bottom as two trunks, then form one trunk, with two great branches that acted as arms that picked them up before they could react, and they saw a face. It was long, with what could pass for floppy ears on a tree. A dark green tuft of hair on top of its head, finally, they could see a pair of sad and gloomy eyes.
"You are clearly not goblins, that much is clear. But what brings you to Fangorn?" the tree asked.
"The tree is talking Gopher!" exclaimed Piglet.
"Not a tree, but a tree herder, I'm an Ent. Eeyore some call me," the creature replied.
"Oh, well honestly Mr. Eeyore, we were trying to get away from those nasty goblins that kidnapped us," Piglet replied quickly.
"Well, anyone who isn't friends with those tree chopping goblins, I think I can trust. I will keep you safe, and safe is where I will keep you. But I feel the Wizard may wish to speak with you," replied Eeyore.
"You don't mean Jafar, surely?" asked Gopher confused.
Hey everyone! I know it's been awhile since I last updated this story, I've been busy with other projects, and work and I just haven't been feeling the drive. I know this is a short chapter but as this is supposed to be based more on the movies than the books, that just sometimes happens, goodness knows I may not be able to do what Tolkien did. I decided to make Eeyore Treebeard simply because of their slow nature, and I thought it'd be cool, he makes a good tree.
