Hello! As usual, all of the characters belong to the creators of the Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu TV series. For reference, I imagine them with the old art style, but you can imagine them any way you like. And now, I proudly present, Chapter 7.

Chapter 7

A Night in Winter Wood

Cold snow soaked into their shoes as their hearts pounded in their ears. They lunged for the open door ahead, the bright light a beacon of hope. Crash!

Cole groaned. "Get. Off." Jay yelped as he hit the ground, frowning up at Cole when he stood. "Come on! Help me close this!" Frowning harder, Jay stood and helped Cole pull. The metal door screeched in protest, arctic wind whipping in their faces. Giving one last tug, the ninja fell to the floor as the door finally shut.

"Next time... we're going to the beach," Jay panted.

"Agreed." They caught their breath, giving their lead limbs a moment to rest.

"Hey... do you hear that?"

"Jay, that's not funny."

"No, I mean... do you hear that?" Cole sighed.

"Jay, I don't hear anything." Their eyes widened. Bolting down the stairs, everything froze once they reached the bottom. Jay screamed.

"Sensei!" Kneeling at his mentor's side, he fought back tears as he rolled his body over. "Come on, Sensei! You can't do this to me! You can't be dead. You can't!" Cole stood in his place by the stairs, watching as his friend continued to shake the old man; he had the same panicked look Cole's father had when his mother didn't wake up.

"Leave him, Jay."

"No! We can't just leave him here!" He knelt beside them, his hand firmly resting on Jay's quivering shoulder.

"There's nothing we can do for him."

"And how would you know?! We have to get him to a hospital!"

"Jay-"

"He could still be alive!"

"JAY! He's DEAD, ALRIGHT?!" Tears smarted in Jay's eyes. Hunching over, he wept over his master's limp form. As his cohort wept, Cole couldn't stop them as the tears rolled down his cheeks.
