Hello! As usual, all of the characters belong to the creators of the Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu TV series. So sorry for the long break - this year was hectic in ways I never expected. I hope to continue this story, and I hope you enjoy.

Chapter 10

Kai knocked the dent out of the armor on the table. Brows furrowed, he swung the hammer again.

"You've been going at that for hours." Nya placed a new helmet at her workstation. Kai hit the armor.

"Different piece of armor, sis." Nya ignored him.

"Don't you ever get tired? Go outside - take a break. You're starting to turn into a vampire." Kai rolled his eyes. Concern shown in her brown eyes as she watched her brother continue to swing. "You're going to get sick if you keep working like this."

Kai swung his hammer.

She shook her head. Turning, she set the helmet in her hands down on a small wooden table and walked out the door.

The sound echoed throughout the room as his hammer continued its insistent clanging.

"You think this is worth it?"

Kai turned to look at her.

"What?"

"Is it worth it to keep running our parents' shop? I love them, really. But... I mean..." Nya sighed. "It's been two years, Kai." She turned as she said that, her head weighed down by what Kai hoped was guilt. He knew better, though. She didn't like that they were gone, either - it saddened her. What his sister felt wasn't guilt... it was grief.

"How could you say that?"

"Look, I want to stay here as much as you do, but don't you think it's a little much? I mean, Mom and Dad would want us to be happy. Shouldn't we decide for ourselves whether running this business would honor their wishes?"

"Do you hear yourself? You're asking us to give up what they left behind! Dad always said how he wanted us to run this place when he died - we can't just leave!" Often the water to Kai's fire, Nya continued, not swayed by her brother's rising temper.

"Kai, you're exhausted. I've never even seen you hang out!" Nya softened. "You need a break."

"Dad's wishes don't matter to you anymore?"

Eyes wide, Nya's mouth hung slightly as her brother scoffed.

"Forget it. If you wanna go, just leave. I'll run his business by myself."

Her brother's retreating back sent a spear through her chest. She almost cried out to him. As her eyes watered, she froze. Cold steel to her throat, it didn't take much to guess that the person behind her wasn't her friend.

Her tears never hit the stone beneath her feet.
