Chapter 0.5: The pet to love
*Sunday, Yasoinaba, Evening*
The Amagi inn was in business as usual, sometimes and only on Sunday's, the staff at the Amagi Inn, must tend to a large number of visitors. With an increase in staff members, it has become easy to tend to the guest's needs, almost at once! For the girl named Yukiko, she was put on cleaning duty. The person in charge of cleaning went to the hospital due to a sickness, so Yukiko took up cleaning the Inn. She had rhythm in sweeping the floors until she heard someone screaming.
Yukiko dropped the broom and went to where the screaming was. It was where the storage room was. Almost all of the staff members at the Inn went to see what was all that screaming about. Yukiko was first to see where the screaming was coming from and it turns out that it was one of the staff members of the Inn, she was apparently having a panic attack. "Umm. Are you okay?" Yukiko said until the female staff member grabbed her and was too close to Yukiko's face. "Do not go into that storage room! You hear me?! Do not go in there!" the female staff member said until more staff members, even the manager of Amagi Inn came to where the screaming was. "What's wrong? I heard screaming" said the manager of the Amagi inn. The female staff member that screamed was being hysterical, as she grabbed the manager and got in her face as she yelled out her words.. "We have to evacuate everyone at the Inn! Call the police! Anything that can get that thing out of there!" said the female staff member. Of course the manager attempts to calm down the hysterical staff member but to no avail. While everyone was distracted by the hysteria the female staff member was making, Yukiko went inside the storage room to investigate alone.
Once Yukiko was inside and she closed the door behind her to prevent whatever it was from escaping, Yukiko went in slowly. She forgot how dark the storage room was, so she went to turn on the light switch. The light flickered for a bit until it shined brightly. "Let there be-" Yukiko was interrupted as she saw something big and pitch black move across to the left. It shook Yukiko for a second before moving to investigate what it was. She grabbed a nearby broom as a weapon and continued to go forward. As Yukiko moved forward, she heard whimpering. Was it scared of something? Yukiko went further ahead and saw a small black creature, with long green hair. The thing was scared, and alone. Yukiko stared at its big eyes, feeling some sort of Awe. She stared at the creature for a long time before slowly coming closer to it. Dropping the broom to raise a hand at it. The creature and Yukiko stared at each other in awe. Staring at each other's eyes, there was no fear in each of them and the creature got on its four legs and walked slowly to Yukiko.
Yukiko's hand reached the creature, touching it, and petting it softly. She found comfort in petting the creature, smiling brightly like the sun. "My name is Yukiko Amagi. Where did you come from little one? What's your name?" said Yukiko as the creature was silent, looking the other way with a slight blush on its cheeks. "What are you?" asked Yukiko as she stopped petting and got closer to the creature inspecting its features before cuddling with the creature. "It's okay. I'll take care of you. From now on. I'll name you. Masamune." Yukiko said brightly as the creature started licking Yukiko's cheeks. Yukiko giggled before asking Masamune to stop.
Yukiko held Masamune like a baby and exited the storage room. The staff at the Inn were worried for Yukiko, but when they saw the creature Yukiko was holding, they were shocked. "See. I told you! It was that thing! It should be thrown away!" the hysterical female staff member said. "What! No way. It's not going anywhere!" Yukiko said, defending Masamune. There were disagreements from the staff of the inn. But Yukiko defended Masamune by saying her reasons on why she would keep a creature like Masamune, that isn't normal. It wasn't enough until she said something that forced everyone to agree. "If one day, my inheritance of this Inn comes to furution. There will be a change in Policy, regarding pets. So. I'm keeping Masamune and that's final. If not, then by the time I'm manager. I'll make sure everyone in this Inn deserves a hellish treatment like Yosuke at Junes!" Yukiko said with a serious tone in her voice. She leaves to her private room in the Inn so Masamune and her can have some peace time.
Yukiko sets down Masamune to continue petting it. The creature isn't scary. It's cute, Yukiko thought. She gave Masamune her love and attention but something was weird.. Yukiko feel, tired all of a sudden. The world was spinning, her balance was wobbly as she tried to stand up. Until she collapsed on the floor, asleep.
The day after, Yukiko was seen dead tired when she came to school. Her long time friends started to worry that she is probably trying to work herself to death. One of her friends advised that she should take breaks every so often, so she doesn't shrivel up. Yukiko agrees and will try to do so. For the next 3 days, Yukiko came to school dead tired, making her best friend Chie worry. "Yukiko. This isn't like you to be this tired. What's going on?" Chie asked. "O-oh. Sorry. But. I haven't been. *yawns* getting any sleep lately… Going to bed early… Didn't help." Yukiko answered before she went past Chie to use the bathroom. Where she inevitably falls asleep. After locking herself in one of the stalls and sitting on a toilet lid close-down. Skipping her last remaining classes.
On the fith day, Chie brings Yosuke, Kanji, Teddie, and Rise with her to help out Yukiko. Naoto wanted to join in but she had work to be done at the police station.
Inside the Amagi Inn's Kitchen, Yukiko was wide awake with Masamune. They were making cookies and Yukiko thought it would be a good idea to teach her pet how to bake. Masamune thought the bowl with dough inside was edible so Masamune tried to lick it. Yukiko stopped Masamune but it didn't stop his curiosity from taking over. It started to fly with its wings, well tried to. Masamune knocked down some things inside the kitchen, they didn't break, and most of everything was metal, and some were wood. Yukiko couldn't help but laugh, because it was too cute.
Chie and her friends entered the Amagi Inn with the intention to help their friend Yukiko but they heard strange noises nearby. It was coming from the Kitchen. Chie and the others check it out, and when they all saw a black creature flying around Yukiko. Chie screamed at the sight of it. "Waaahhhh!"
As Masamune heard something scream at him, he tried to fly away but he kept bumping into things, and flying uncontrollably. Eventually Yukiko catches Masamune and calms it down, petting and singing lullaby's to it. Masamune calmed down as its expression was neutral. "Uhh. Yukiko. What. The hell is that? Thing.." Yosuke asked. Yukiko simply answered that this black wing creature was her pet. "But Yuki-Chan. I thought I was your pet…" Teddie says whining. "Man. Guess that's another reason not to mess with Yukiko.." Kanji said dumbfounded. "I. Never seen that kind of pet before. What is it?" asked Rise. "His name is Masamune." Yukiko proudly says. "Umm. Yukiko. That's a girl." Chie said judging Masamune due to how long the hair was. "It's a girl? And I've been calling it a guy?" Yukiko said, surprised at the revelation. "It's actually a guy. Just look at the face." Kanji said. Chie looked at Masamune's face but she couldn't tell. "I can't tell." Chie answered.
After some time explaining what was going on, Yukiko had a suggestion to make. "I have an idea. Why don't we all take care of Masamune? That way, he can be friends with everyone here. And besides. I think the staff has been planning to remove Masamune away from me to this day.. I don't want to be separated from him. I love him. I love him so much. So, can anyone take him? Or her, was it?" Yukiko said, holding on to Masamune tightly. No one wanted that creature to be in their own homes until Chie stepped up and volunteered to take care of Yukiko's pet. "I'll do it. For you Yukiko." Chie said comming to get Masamune from Yukiko's grasp. Masamune didn't know what was happening as it looked around confused. "Masamune. I will let you join my best friend only for this evening. I'll come see you after school okay?" Yukiko said, smiling and petting Masamune, putting the black creature at ease. "Oh and remember Chie. Don't think of it as a black creature. Think of it as a dog. A cute dog." Yukiko said to Chie.
Chie and the group leave the Inn and go their separate ways. Chie holds on to Masamune, with a promise that she'll take care of it. For Yukiko's sake.
