Harry is awoken from his sleep when the mental chime in his head goes off, letting him know the wards he had placed on the two titans the crazy scientists managed to obtain.
Harry lets out a tired sigh hating when he is right, using his fist he rubs the sleep out of his eyes, absently reaching for his glasses, though they're now useless, he finds comfort in wearing them regardless.
Not wanting to stall any longer Harry pulls himself up before looking down at himself, seeing his sleep wear, with a mere flick of his wrist he spells his normal attire onto his person shivering at the feel of fabric conjuring into existence on top of his skin. He plants his feet onto the cool wood floor reaching towards his boots and slips on his socks before stepping in his shoes.
He could have conjured them on, but his feet had been under the covers still, and he hates the sensation of socks in the bed.
Standing up he cracks his neck before turning towards his brother in all but blood, soundlessly sleeping. He silently makes his way towards the growing boy, soon to be man.
Comparing the two faces he knows, one from the future, his dull gaze compared to the bright fire blazing in his past self.
'Why didn't I stop that?' Harry wonders gently cascading his finger through Eren's hair watching as he seems to burrow into his hand, the ting of the ward reminds him of the reason he awoke, with reluctance he pulls his hand off Eren head then steps away.
"Did I do nothing?" He asks himself as he spins silently apparating towards the titans, who are under attack.
Never seeing Eren's teal eyes slowly open after he disappeared, the lone figure in the attic wondering what caused his brother's melancholy.
——-
Harry appears in the building housing the two titans, Sonny and bean.
Sadly he took too long, getting distracted by his own thoughts that he arrived before he could have stopped the killing.
He can see the small figure standing before the two smoking figures, most likely making sure they hit the mark and the two weren't regenerating.
Seeing as he couldn't do anything to prevent it, he allows his body to mold into the shadow watching as the small figure darts out of the window they arrived using the 3DM gear with a grace that is impressive, in Harry's opinion.
Unfortunately for them he has a cheat in his broom, with a flourish he pulls it out and feels his cloak shroud him in invisibility, with a push he follows after, silently apologizing to Hange for not being able to save them.
He may fear the scientist, but he's not one to make fun of one's quirks, her fascination with titans, reminds Harry of Luna, in that she didn't care what you thought of her, what she adored, she adored.
The figure seems to be sporadic as if they feel someone is following them and is trying to mislead the direction they are going. It would have worked, had he been on odm gear himself, unfortunately for her he could just hover over her as she stalled and misdirected.
The light from the night sky leaks through the dense woods just long enough for him to catch a glimpse of the blonde hair and prominent nose that belongs to Annie Leonheart.
He shakes his head as he continues to follow the girl, his eyes taking in the surroundings, from his distance in the air he can see a small flame flickering through the foliage, if he hadn't been a seeker, use to trying to catch specks or shimmers in the sky coming off the snitch, he isn't surprised his eyes latch onto the flame contrasting against the shadow.
Deciding that Annie is heading there he abandons following her in favor of heading towards the fire, inadvertently making Annie relax once his ominous presence fades.
——-
Bertold pokes the flame with a twig, drawing his knees to his chest. The small flame casting a soft glow around them as Reiner and him sit by the fire, waiting for Annie. He still doesn't understand why she had to do it, any of them could have used Marcus's equipment and gotten away with it.
Looking at Reiner he watches as the shadows dance across his face, "do you think she's okay," he asks, only to shiver as a cold feeling washes over him.
He sees Reiner have the same action, both of them tensing as they hear the foliage move, he reaches for his blade, still in the habit of being a soldier and not a warrior, so he forgets of his Titan form for split second, only to relax as the object of his affections breaks through.
"Annie," he starts to stand up as if to hug her, but stops himself with an embarrassed flush. He looks into her eyes, his gentle gaze firming as she seems to be flustered.
"Annie?" He asks with concern, wondering what could make her seem so flustered.
"Did you get caught?" Reiner interrupts him, making Bertold glare at him, before refocusing on Annie as she shakes her head, her beautiful hair framing her face as she denies.
"No, at least I don't think so…" she says, trying to seem unfazed, but they haven't been on this island and don't know what they're not saying.
He watches as her eyes catch the food he had prepared for her.
Bertold feels a flush rise as she plops onto the ground, her hair flicking up from the momentum. He feels a flush rise up his face when she plucks a stick with meat on it into her mouth. He lets his body and worries fade as he focuses on the way her cheek puffs up from the food, her bored expression slowly coming back as she munches, he lets a find smile knowing how much Annie
"Were you followed?" Bertold shakes his head, knowing it's not the right time to flounder, looking at Reiner whose face is blank, but Bertold can see the panic leaking.
"I don't know," Annie says, her words coming out dull and muffled around the food, continuing before Reiner can explode, "I think we're okay, I never heard anyone tailing me, but I felt like I was being watched." She admits he can see a flush creeping up her face making him want to coo, finding her embarrassed expression highly endearing.
"We need to find out who the real royal family is," Reiner states, deciding to change the subject.
"What about Eren?" Bertold asks, freezing when an electric charge pulses throughout the area, a flash of lightning making them all tense only to feel silly when thunder follows the light.
A light trickle starts to drop onto his head.
"Yeah! I'm ready to go." Annie started standing up as pulling her cloak over her head as the rain started to pour down on them.
Bertold stands, looking up at the sky through the trees, what little Is able to see. He catches the flashing of lightning, shaking his head, he could have sworn he had seen stars just earlier.
Bertold hears Reiner kick at the ground; he turns to see the man manipulating the area to make it look unused.
There's a reason Reiner is placed second on the scoreboard, and while Bertold knows the strength in his friend is a major factor, Reiner isn't one to underestimate.
After making sure they didn't leave any evidence behind they make their way towards the city.
A certain figure hovering over where they had been staying, watches with furious eyes, wondering just what they want with his brother.
A/n:
So, don't hate me for the short chapter after a such a long hiatus,
I'll be honest and say I didn't have any motivation, and I felt it wouldn't do justice if I forced myself to write with no heart into it.
I'll try to make it a longer chapter next time, if only for my peace of mind. :3
