Here we are again … I'm embarking on a new journey of a fanfiction story. This time, we're going with a post-apocalyptic vibe. I recently watched The 100 on Netflix. I'd been intrigued to write a story based off that show/series of novels. I decided to write it for NaNoWriMo. I'd starting almost halfway through the month, but I'm determined to, at least, get something going.

This might be a shorter chapter, but you'll find out who made it to Mount Weather and what happened to that person … see you at the bottom.

Chapter Fourteen: On the Ground, Mount Weather

Bella

Edward and I sprinted back to Mount Weather. Upon our arrival, we saw a puddle of blood on the concrete near the garage. It was a lot of blood and if the person walked from the drop ship, they'd lost significantly more on the way. I stepped in front of Edward, rubbing his arms. He was tense. The muscles in his jaw ticked and his verdant gaze was unseeing. "Edward, look at me," I whispered. "Please …?"

"She's going to die," he choked out brokenly. "My sister … I won't get to know her … With that much blood."

"You don't know that," I said. "I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure that she'll be okay. It might take time, but you have to trust me. Do you trust me?"

"With my life," he answered. "You're the only person I trust to save her. Please, help her, Bella."

"Then, let me do that," I said, caressing his cheek. He captured my hand, pressing a kiss to my palm. Standing on my tiptoes, I brushed my lips over his and took his hand, tugging on it. "Come with me. Let's go down to medical." I blinked to Emmett, giving him a look. "Can you clean that up?"

"Sure thing, Bella," Emmett nodded. "She stumbled in from the south, collapsing as soon as she hit the concrete. This tiny thing appeared like a ghost, covered in blood, leaves and dirt. She couldn't talk, only grunting and pointing at the door. I radioed Austin, who came up with a team and brought her down to medical."

"I'm heading down there now. Thank you, Emmett," I said. I squeezed Edward's hand, leading him into the mountain and down to the medical unit. Austin was down in medical and was monitoring the patient. Edward's fingers tightened around mine. His breath hitched as he gently tugged me to stop. "What is it, Edward?"

"It's Alice," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "She has a birthmark on her left arm that's in the shape of heart. It's there." He walked over to her swollen arm, indicating to small heart-shaped blemish on her tanned skin.

I took off my jacket and slipped on my lab coat. I put on some gloves, gently washing the blood and dirt from her face. Her skin was covered in bruises underneath. I gently prodded her face, concerned about the swelling on her jaw. "Austin, did you scan her head?" I asked. "Run a CT scan?"

"I only x-rayed her wrist and torso," Austin answered.

"I think she may have broken her jaw," I said, moving the x-ray machine to Alice's head. I took a quick film and looked at the results on the computer screen. She did have her jaw broken in two places. As I was prodding her face, her eyes flew open, and she became very agitated. "Whoa! Alice, it's Bella. I need you to calm down. Listen to my voice and breath through your nose."

"It hurts," she whimpered. Tears streamed down her dirty face. "It hurts so bad. Everything hurts."

"I know, Alice. From what I can see, you have a broken jaw, a broken wrist, and some cracked ribs. I'm also concerned that you were sexually assaulted," I murmured calmly. The tears continued anew, and she began breathing erratically. I pulled on an oxygen mask. "Deep breaths, Alice. Deep breaths."

"Alice, it's going to be okay," Edward said, stepping into the medical bay. Her tears became more hysterical. "What is it? What did I do?"

"I know you want to help, Edward, but can you give us some time?" I asked, giving him a tender smile. "Please?" He opened his mouth to argue, but saw Alice's broken form before he nodded. I also gave Austin a pointed stare and he left as well, leaving Charlotte in the medical bay with me. "Okay, it's just us. Were you sexually assaulted?" She shook her head, but was still nearly hysterical. "I need you to calm down, Alice. Do you want me to give you something to relax you?" She nodded, struggling to breathe.

I walked to medical storage, finding a vial of Ativan. I drew a small dose, inserting it into her IV along with some morphine. "I gave you some pain medication and something to relax you. Can you talk?" She pointed to her jaw, shaking her head no. Charlotte walked over to us with a tablet and a blank page open on it. "Can you type?"

Alice took the tablet, typing out with her right hand since her left hand was busted. I can try. It might take a long time.

"There's no hurry, Alice. Do you mind if we clean you up while we speak?" I asked.

She nodded, sniffling quietly. With her right hand, she began typing as Charlotte and I carefully washed away the dirt and blood from her skin. I also did a visual examination, checking out her body. She obviously lost a lot of weight. Food was obviously not high on the list of priorities at the drop ship camp. She also was covered in bruises and abrasions that required attention, possibly some stitches. While I was putting some antibacterial salve on her arms, Alice shoved the tablet into my hands.

I left the camp a week ago. I could barely remember how to get here. I knew the basic direction how to get here, but I wasn't completely sure. It was a blur of pain and nightmares. I've never hurt so bad. It's a miracle I made it here without being discovered by ...

"Oh, Alice, I'm so sorry," I murmured, gripping her good hand. "Who did this to you?"

She reached for the tablet, typing clumsily. Jacob did this. Tears spilled onto her swollen cheeks. Hastily, she wiped her cheeks before she continued to type. He wanted more from me, and I told him that I didn't think it was a good idea. Something Edward said …

"That he might be your half-brother, right?" I questioned. Alice nodded, shivering uncontrollably. "Charlotte, can you get Alice a warm blanket?"

"Sure, Dr. Swan," Charlotte said. She stepped out of the medical bay.

"Alice, did Jacob …" I trailed off.

"No, he didn't," Alice mumbled, barely moving her mouth. She tried to say more but groaned in pain.

"Type it out, Alice. I will have to wire your mouth shut to help with your jaw," I gently chided. She nodded, her fingers moving quickly over the screen. I blew out a breath, relieved that Alice hadn't been sexually assaulted. I hid my relief behind a professional façade, but I wanted nothing more than to run into Edward's arms and sob for his sister – sob in relief. Yes, she was beaten within an inch of her life, but she didn't have her choice taken away.

Alice tapped my shoulder, holding out the tablet. It held her response.

I also didn't want that. Not from Jacob. Not from anyone … not yet. I want to … wait until I'm in love. Anyway, I kneed him in the balls … hard. I also stabbed him in the thigh with a piece of shrapnel from the Drop Ship. That didn't stop him, Sam, and Paul from beating me to hell. I lost consciousness and when I came to, I snuck out of camp, blindly heading toward Mount Weather. What did they do to me? I hurt everywhere.

"Based off the x-rays, you have a broken jaw and wrist. The jaw will need to be wired shut and I'll have to sedate you to do that," I explained. "You also have several cracked ribs, but that will be fixed with a wrap around your body. I can't exactly cast your torso."

Can I stay? She typed. I know I made the decision to leave, but I can't … I won't go back there.

"Of course, you can stay," I breathed, taking her hand. "Alice, regardless of what happened, you're a part of our family. I know you don't like me and that's fine, but Edward is your brother, and he loves you. He'd do anything for you."

She took her hand back, typing on the tablet. I envy you. You have something with Edward that I would never have … time … If anything, I'm in awe of you. You've got it all.

"I don't, Alice," I said. "I'm a mess, just like the rest of us. I'll explain more when you're feeling better. For now, I want to sedate you to wire your jaw shut after I realign it properly. It's going to be painful as hell."

Thank you, Bella … can you get Edward? I'd like to see him before I go under.

"Of course," I smiled, reaching for her good hand. "We'll take good care of you." By then, Charlotte returned with a blanket. She tucked it around Alice as I readied the sedation for her. I took a step away, called out to Edward, who was sitting outside of the medical. With a sad smile, I ushered him into see his sister. Her face crumpled as he hugged her gently. He held her as she cried and while I carefully put her to sleep.

Once she was sedated, he turned to me with fire in his eyes. "What happened?" Edward growled.

"Read the tablet," I explained quietly, keeping my face impassive. "She couldn't really talk due to the jaw injuries, so she typed out what happened. Jacob tried to take what wasn't his." I lowered the gurney, taking out the supplies to wire Alice's jaw shut.

Edward growled lowly, gripping the tablet tightly. He read what she wrote. With a snarl, he spat, "I'm going to kill him. That monster who tried to kill your father … he tried to rape my sister, his sister! He will be fucking floated for this. He won't survive his next meeting with me. I can't believe it! He tried …"

"He tried but he failed," I said, blinking up to him. I took his face into my hands. "Edward, she got him good."

"I saw that, but the fact that he even tried makes me sick," Edward hissed, looking at his sister. Tears welled in his eyes, but they were not of sadness, but of anger. "I also don't understand what she wrote underneath her request for me."

"Let me see," I gently demanded. Edward handed me the tablet, sitting down on the stool and brushed Alice's matted hair back away from her face. I scrolled down, finding her last statement before I put her under sedation.

One more thing, when the Exodus ship landed, we found a survivor … Jacob brought them back to the Drop ship … he was barely alive, but survived.

A/N: I told you that it would be a shorter chapter. I may add more before I publish. (I'm writing this in mid-June … who knows when it'll be actually posted.) There are no pictures with this chapter … but, if you want to see pictures from previous chapters, they are on my blog. You can find a link for that on my profile. I'm also on FB: Tufano79's Twilight Fanfiction Appreciation. Twitter, Spoutible and HIVE, too: tufano79.

Up next, we'll find out what happened with the Ark, Charlie and with Alice. Leave me your thoughts and thank you for reading. I truly appreciate it!
